Bearded Review

-Loved the opening segment. Good to see Cody get some mic work and stay fresh in the viewers eye. Really looking forward where he goes from here as now he can't get involved in the WHC ladder match.

-Tension still running deep in The Corre. Mysterio/Gabriel would be a great match to get the crowd going. Fast paced and fun to watch. Excellent match indeed. You made Gabriel look good despite Rey's victory. Things are really heating up between The Corre. It is only a matter of time it seems.

-Swagger time. Loved this. Swagger get much deserved air time and it seems our draft is in three weeks time. Awesome sauce. Must have slipped my mind haha. Gonna go announce that in my thread after this. Swagger/Kane should be solid.

-These videos are rather intriguing. Can't wait to see who comes from this.

-Something fishy has to happen to build up to what should be a PPV match between Edge and Christian. Impromptu tag team match perhaps?

-Love the build for Masters. He continues to stay on this roll that he has been on and could be a midcard mainstay soon. Big victory over the quickly fading chosen one.

-Good to see Swagger win and by submission. Making Kane tap is no small feat. Swagger seems to be back on the up and up and I like that. Guy has it all to be a star, just needs solid booking behind him.

-Edge interview. Still think something fishy is up. Only thing that is 100 percent certain is that when Edge and Christian meet it is going to be fucking brutal.

-Here comes the champ. And hey some Monday Night loving, Bill Regal! Regal getting more exposure these past two weeks than he has all year. Something may be in the works for the wily veteran. Regal hangs around with the champ, but ultimately has to give in. ADR getting some major heat and a strong victory over a great in ring star.

-Show is frustrated. Seems like him, Kane, and Kofi are going in beat up. However Corre's tension pretty much swings it to equal poles. Should be a doozy.

-Hawkins interview, nice. He needs this. Gives us a sense of his character instead of him just winning matches. Hope to see this approach taken with Chris Masters soon.

-Main event time. And there we go. An all out brawl breaks up and now we have an official match at Extreme Rules. Good to see this will culminate on PPV. Great to see Edge get the upper hand, I imagine Captain C gets revenge next week.

-As always Peepers the show was solid. No real complaints here as everything was kicking this week. Hope to see some more time for guys like Masters and Hawkins to rise up and keep catching our attention next week. Good stuff mate.

----Really good promo from Mysterio to start the show. The symbolism with the ladder and what "climbing it" signifies to his career was great stuff. I like that Mysterio's feud with Rhodes hasn't disappeared now that he's challenging Del Rio for the title: It happens too often in wrestling. Feuds are easily forgotten even when they have legs left. Long stepping in was a nice touch as (Im guessing) Del Rio will go over Mysterio at ER, and Rhodes interferring would make Del Rio look like he's a weak champion. Del Rios the rare heel who can get clean wins when he needs to. Good opening segment.

---- I really liked the story you told in the Gabriel/Mysterio match. Rey was able to overcome the odds and go over Gabriel, as he should as the #1 contender looking strong heading into the PPV. The interference was so much that it was unbelievable that Rey could win the match, as the interference backfired. The issues between the Corre were nicely played out as well as the dissension between Barrett and Jackson continue to develop nicely,

---Good interview segment with Swagger. I like how the heel built up the face(portraying Kane as being dangerous) but breaking him down by saying he's going to break his ankle. A wrestler with Swaggers talent and ability shouldn't be portrayed as being afraid of anything in an interview as so, and youre doing a nice job of re-building Swagger here. It made me anticipate his match with Kane.

---- Interesting video with the two men saving the old woman from the thugs. I like that theyre identity was hidden as it seems to be a possible introductory vignette, or reestablishing a returning superstar without completely giving away who it is. Nicely done.

----I like that Christian was the one who was kept face in the feud with Edge. He's a natural face, and the interview proved that. He joked when he needed to, and got serious when he needed to. Although I think its a mistake to give away Edge/Christian on TV, Christians promo made me anticipate the match between he and Edge. I like how he focused on the characteristics that have defined Edge as a heel throughout his career. Good segment.

---- Confusing call having Masters go over McIntyre. The matc was well written, and it established Masters power well, but even though Im not a personal fan of Drew's, he has more upside as the "Chosen One" then Masters does, who to me is basically enhancement talent. Im not saying he couldnt beat Drew believably, I just think it does nothing for either man.

----- Good win for Swagger. Show and Kane's feud with the Corre continues, and advances nicely. Swagger gets to look strong as he gets the tainted but submission victory, which is exactly what is needed of him. Im interested to see what you do with him if he stays on Smackdown following the draft. Swagger took advantage of Kane's injured ankle, endured his offense, and won by submission. Kane gets the out due to interference and the already injured ankle, so well done here.

---- Good heel promo from Edge. The turn on Christian was unexpected a few weeks ago to be honest, but Edge is doing what a good heel does: throwing in some truth while greatly embellishing to get some heat. The comments about Christian being in Edge's shadow seem true, but they come from a bitter man who couldnt retain or win back his championship. Edge was the right choice to turn heel. While the show feels a little oversaturated with promos, they've all been good.

---- I liked Del Rio vs Regal. Smart to play to the home crowd by having Regal as his opponent, and a nice rub for Regal to hang with the World Champion in the longest match of the night thusfar. Another credible, clean victory for Del Rio over a formidable opponent that makes him look strong, and good heat at the end for refusing to break the arm breaker after the match. I liked this alot.

---- What title is Hawkins looking to gain? Another solid interview, I liked the focus on winning a title, he just needs to get into a good feud for a title. Perhaps with Kofi after the ER PPV if he wins the title? I like how you established Hawkins first with wins, then he seems credible in stating that hes going to win a championship. He just needs a solid feud,as you've built him up quite nicely. Although the show has been slightly oversaturatd with interviews, they've all been good and purposeful. Another good segment.

---- I was hoping this would happen with Christian and Edge, so to save the true match between the two for ER. The brawl was depicted well, and Long making a match between the two at ER in an extreme rules match is the right call. Good call by not "giving away" this match before the PPV, and Edge establishes his heel turn more by getting the better of Christian at the end to generate heat.

Final Thoughts: I liked this show. The opening segment between Rhodes and Mysterio was very good, and it will be interesting to see where they go with Rhodes at the PPV. A good win for Mysterio to give him momentum as #1 contender. Good promo from Swagger, who came across as arrogant and obnoxious, but still acknowledged his opponent as being credible, so the victory meant more. A good win for him, and Kane can absorb the loss without losing anything. Confusing decision to have Masters go over McIntyre, but perhaps a push is coming for Chris. The match between Regal and Del Rio told a good story and the finish was exactly what it should have been, with the champ winning clean. Good build towards Rey and Del Rio with Rey making the save. Good interviews between Edge and Hawkins both. I felt the show was a little bit oversaturated with promos, but all were good and effective, and built Edge's heel turn and established the importance to Hawkins of winning a championship, which is important. The main event played out exactly how it should have, with the match not being given away before the PPV, the match made for Extreme Rules being an ER match, and Edge standing tall to close the show. The show was booked very well and has me anticipating the following weeks show. I like that you time the matches, giving them a sense of realism. The show was slightly light on wrestling, but what you provided was good stuff. Overall, a very good show that built nicely toward the PPV.

Hi Peep, long time coming but here is a review for ya!

Am enjoying the Edge and Christian build up, you're doing a much better job than most do. Having it not for the title is good and Extreme Rules will allow more intensity. Edge continually getting the upper hand and hitting the spear is good, builds the heat on him. I have a feeling that you will have Christian go over - don't know why! - but this feud should lead to both men being in the title hunt.

Mysterio and Del Rio - I'm not convinced! Rey selecting the ladder match could make it interesting though. I hope ADR keeps the title, another Mysterio reign is not what I want to see. Cody's involvement is not needed IMO but I guess it makes it different. It seems like we're going to get Cody vs. Rey part 2 soon though - too soon after WM!

Chris Masters and Curt Hawkins are both being built well. I fully expect to see big things from both of them soon so I like that you are going that way with them. Hawkins' cocky attitude is making me want to see him lose, great play from you. I'm also enjoying the little Swagger thing. Will he go to RAW? Hmm. A great win over Kane - submission, no mean feat - should elevate him to the top end of SD.

Intercontinental and Tag Team on the line in same match - interesting. Kofi, Kane and Show all injured a little so Corre in with a chance. Ezekiel might turn on Corre though. This is all a little too familiar and the title stipulation is the only thing that makes it interesting to me. The rest of it - I've seen it before. Hope that after Extreme Rules, you end this and get them moving in different directions.

All in all, good show, well written. Just needs to get past the first PPV and take a few different paths. Maybe the draft will help with that! GCB

Friday Night Smackdown! Preview
Greensboro, Nort Carolina, 22nd April 2011

This week's Smackdown airs from Greensboro, North Carolina where the superstars of the blue brand will only be two days away from the most extreme pay per view event of the year, Extreme Rules. Every superstar that is booked to compete at the big event this weekend will surely be jostling to gain that last minute momentum, and why wouldn't they be? Three prestigous championships will be on the line and a deeply personal rivalry will come to a head on Sunday.

Last week, Rey Mysterio announced that his match for the World Heavyweight Championship will be a ladder match. Both men are going to have to put their bodies on the line, and their fears aside, if they wish to capture the biggest prize that the blue brand has to offer. Both men looked gained valuable momentum last week with victories over Justin Gabriel and William Regal and the two rivals will hope that this carries over to Extreme Rules. Word from the general manager's office is that the World Heavyweight Champion was scheduled to be in action against the scorned Edge, but apparently the Mexican aristocrat produced a doctor's note, forcing Theodore Long to cancel the match. However, Del Rio has demanded speaking time and with the topics of class and respect being 'debated' by the two competitors it is sure to be interesting. Rey Mysterio is set to be in action against none other than the Intercontinental Champion, Wade Barrett.

Speaking of the Corre, the tension between Ezekiel Jackson and the rest of his stable mates heated up again last week as he was once again publicly humiliated by Wade Barrett. Although the Corre are looking like they are about to implode Barrett and Gabriel & Slater are going to need all the help they can get to topple Rey Mysterio and the Big Show & Kane respectively on this week's installment of Smackdown. Theodore Long has officially told WWE.com that the 'Winner Takes All Match' at Extreme Rules is now an elimination match, surely the Corre are not going to like this news as they will need to eliminate two giants in order to retain their gold. Their have been rumours spreading that Kofi Kingston may be healthy enough to return on Smackdown this week, but nothing can be confirmed at this time.

The historic rivalry of Edge and Christian is going to come to a head in two days time in an Extreme Rules match. After being blasted with a vicious spear for the third time in as many weeks, Christian will be looking to strike back on Smackdown as well as at Extreme Rules. However, in order to even get to the pay per view, Christian is going to have to go through the psychotic Cody Rhodes. The grotesque superstar was left fuming last week when he was told that he cannot even touch Rey Mysterio until his match for the world title is complete, a firing will not get Rhodes any closer to his goal of destroying the luchador. With Edge not in action this week, what role will he play?

Last week Jack Swagger proved to the entire world that he is a superior superstar when he made the Big Red Machine Kane submit to his deadly ankle lock, albeit after some dirty play from the Corre. What will Swagger have to say to Teddy Long on Smackdown this week? Also, two young men looking to battle to the front of the pack are set to battle one another this week on Smackdown. Curt Hawkins will look to take out the powerful Chris Masters, who hasn't looked close to being defeated since Wrestlemania XXVII. Will the Masterlock prevail or will Curt Hawkins prove that he deserves to be a champion, and soon.​

Peep, some awesome shows you've been having. I like how the roster is made up and how you're giving some young guys an opportunity on TV.

First of all, the Edge vs. Christian rivalry is epic. I know everyone in the WWE wanted to see this happen in real life and its good to see it being brought to life in this thread. Its exactly as I pictured it, two great competitors trying to outshine one another. This is definitely my favorite feud you have going on right now.

Also, it was a little unexpected to start the show with a World Championship match but you made it work. But once that match started, I already knew what the outcome would be.

The next favorite feud I like you have going on is Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes. Cody has put up one of the best promos right now. He is one of my favorite WWE superstars and hope you have something big planned for him as he will shine as a champion in the future.

The Corre vs. Show-Kane, Not really something I'm into but is interesting enough to read. I'm just waiting for the time when the Corre disbands, if ever, and I see Gabriel and Slater do wonders in the tag division. Big Zeke is big but doesn't really impress me but Barrett gets this storyline interesting.

Now, for the new guys getting some air time. Curt Hawkins! good to see this guy get some heat and show off his talent in the ring. You've been pushing him good with each match and promo. Also, Swagger, I like him winning over Kane. That was a huge victory for him and also can't wait what you have in store for him.

Overall, awesome shows mate. I love the way you write. This and the other threads here inspired me to start my own Book This! And it has been fun. Oh and, nice Smackdown! banner ahaha. Keep on writing dude, I'll be reading!

Friday Night Smackdown!
Greensboro, North Carolina, 29th April 2011

A tonne of blue and white pyro explodes around the stage before the sounds of delirious wrestling fans and Green Day are mashed together for the start of another episode of Smackdown! We immediately cut over to the announce desk where a grinning Josh Matthews and a smartly dressed Booker T are waiting to address the television viewers. Matthews starts by saying that tonight there is going to be a preview of things to come in two days time as the WWE Tag Team Champions Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater are set to tangle with the two men that could possibly take those titles from them at Extreme Rules, the Big Show and Kane. And speaking of the Corre, Booker continues, Intercontinental champion Wade Barrett will take on the number one contender Rey Mysterio in the night’s main event. Matthews then continues by saying that although Christian is set to face his rival Edge in two days time in an Extreme Rules match, general manager Theodore Long has placed him in a match with the unstable Cody Rhodes. After that announcement, the Book man comments that he cannot wait for the action to start. And speaking of action...

*SOS*

It looks as if it is Kofi Kingston that is going to start off the show. Kingston is not his usual jumpy self, he still seems a little banged up, but does his best in setting off a couple of booms for his many fans in North Carolina. The Ghanaian Maestro still tries to put on a brave face as he slaps the hands of some younger members of the WWE Universe before he enters the ring via the steel steps and waits his opponent patiently, clutching his ribs as he does so.

*Get On Your Knees*

If it is any possible, Swagger’s grin appears to be even more arrogant than usual as he struts down the ramp, eyeing off an injured Kofi while he does his signature push ups. The All American American is almost licking his lips in anticipation at getting the chance to wrestle an injured opponent the calibre of a former Intercontinental Champion like Kofi Kingston. Kingston seems a little apprehensive as Swagger attempts to close in on him in the corner and this is all the official needs to see before ringing the bell.

Match #1
Singles Match
Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger would go all out to put an end to Kofi Kingston but a slight miscalculation in the All American American’s gameplan proved to be the difference maker. Despite some early control from Swagger, the match would become a back and forth extravaganza filled with high flying offence from Kofi and a range of suplexes and slams from Jack. In a huge spot near the conclusion of the contest, Swagger countered a spring boarding Kingston’s crossbody with a vicious boot to the top of the head, causing the crowd to groan loudly with the impact. The referee tried to check on the Dreadlocked Dynamo but, after taunting the live crowd for a few moments, Swagger wouldn’t have any of it and bundled Kingston into position for the Gutwrench Powerbomb. Jack lifted his opponent high into the air but was forced to move slightly backwards as the referee got into the way, this slight distraction allowed Kingston to slip out of his adversary’s grasp and crack Swagger in the side of the skull with the Trouble in Paradise. Kingston then proceeded to crawl into the cover and the referee was quick to begin his count, one, two – Swagger just gets his ankle onto the bottom rope – three?! It appears that the official was unable to notice Swagger’s rope break and the crowd pop loudly as he raises the arm of Kingston into the air.

Winner: Kofi Kingston (7:24)

Kofi receives another huge cheer as he makes his way onto the stage and gives another few booms for his fans, much happier now that he has earned a hard fought victory. Meanwhile, in the ring Swagger is throwing a huge tantrum aimed at the official, groggily complaining that he got his foot on to the rope before the three count was made. The referee is having none of it, brushing the former world champion off and rushing up the ramp to attend to the hurting African superstar.

*Start Video*

The screen cuts to black and a video package begins to play. The silhouettes of two men can be seen in the middle of a darkened wrestling ring, both figures short but of equal size. As the camera zooms in, the two men cut a pretty unimpressive sight in drab jeans and hoodies, however their faces remain hidden. A voice from one of the men can be heard saying that they are just ordinary laid back people, normal members of society. Now the other man, in a deeper tone, says that all changes when they spot injustice or inequality. Inside the ring, the first man continues, they fight for all that is right. The second man speaks again and says that when they are fighting evil in the middle of the squared circle they are determined, unstoppable and sometimes even super. A lightning flash and the two men are now standing in the ring, their toned bodies highlighted by wrestling boots and tights (which are red, white and have a singles thunder bolt on the front). The men are now shown, their identities still hidden, doing a variety of moves upon opponents in the dimmed ring, drop kicks, hurricanranas, moonsaults. So, both men say together, evil doers better watch out.

*End Video*

After that ‘special’ video package, we are joined by Matt Striker, standing by in the interview pit with his trusty microphone in hand. A huge cheer can be heard from the crowd as Striker introduces his guest, Rey Mysterio. Matt first reminds that Rey is going to battle Wade Barrett in the night’s main event before asking whether Rey sees himself as an underdog in the contest due to Wade’s immense size and the recent form he has been in as of late. Rey first responds by saying that yes, he does consider himself the underdog in his match later tonight. But then again, Rey has been considered an underdog in almost every match he has competed in during his entire career as a professional wrestler. But Mysterio does not let this stigma get him down, he uses it as motivation. Rey has used that to push himself, push himself to overcome great odds, whether that be to pin a man almost twice the size as himself, endure the pain that only a submission specialist could create on every piece of his body and... well you get the picture. This is what has earned him the respect of people from all around the globe, something that Alberto Del Rio has yet to gain. Del Rio is a proud champion and thinks just because he wears that big gold belt around his waist, it makes others respect him, but nothing could be further from the truth. And in two night’s time, Rey is going to climb the ladder and bring the title back home to the people and a true champion of the world, Rey Mysterio! Another big pop for the luchador as he exits the shot and Matt eagerly thanks him for his time.

*In the Middle of it Now*

Smackdown switches down to ringside where Curt Hawkins is making his way down to the ring, his long blonde hair flowing down his face and a pair of sunglasses firmly over his eyes. Hawkins jumps onto the apron and walks through the ropes, a rather sour look on his face as he appears to walk towards the ring announcer’s booth to demand a microphone. The crowd boo heavily as they have no intention of listening to the Long Islander again, but at the last second Curt changed his mind, turned back and proceeded to sit on a top turnbuckle, seemingly waiting for his opponent to arrive.

*Masterpiece*

A huge pop for Chris Masters as he causes a shower of gold pyro to explode behind him with each pose on the ramp. Masters certainly looks determined as he walks down the ramp with his eyes totally focused on Curt Hawkins, who isn’t shy about returning the gaze. With his royal blue wrestling gear glinting in the lights of the arena, Masters enters the squared circle and motions for his signature finishing manoeuvre, the Masterlock with the symbolic clasping of his hands. After Hawkins mouths something at Masters, the Los Angeles native approaches Hawkins and demands that he removes his jacket and sunglasses and get off of the turnbuckle and face him like a man. This incident gives the referee all the motivation he needs in order to ring which he does with gusto!

Singles Match
Curt Hawkins vs. Chris Masters

Two of Smackdown’s hottest young talents certainly put on a show for the WWE Universe in North Carolina with both men looking to have the match in the bag at certain points in the contest. After avoiding a huge Hawkins elbow drop from the top rope, Masters fired back with a range of high powered offense and managed to take control. After landing an incredible looking spinebuster onto his opponent, Masters motioned that he was going to put Hawkins away with the Masterlock full nelson, emitting a huge ovation from the crowd. Curt was almost locked into the hold but the moment he felt Masters beefy arms lock around his left shoulder, Hawkins bolted. Although it appeared that Hawkins was about to re-enter the fray, he didn’t and intentionally got himself counted out of the contest.

Winner: Chris Masters by count-out (7:49)

Hawkins hauls ass up the ramp looking flustered from the damage he took and only turns around to look at Masters once he has reached the top of the stage. The Masterpiece is also heavily fatigued also but that doesn’t stop him from staring down Curt as well as letting out a bellow in victory aimed at his fans in the front rows. The crowd give a huge cheer for Masters as he holds his arms up into the air in victory, Hawkins scurrying away in the background.

Smackdown once again goes backstage where an incredibly pissed off Jack Swagger can be seen, making a beeline past a chatting Kelly Kelly and Trent Barreta. A fuming former heavyweight champion pushes past the pair and walks straight down a narrow hallway, opens the first door to his right and enters it, slamming the door as he closes it. The writing on the door could be seen with the words ‘Theodore Long, Smackdown General Manager’ printed on its front.

*Commercial*

Smackdown returns with a view of a rather blank room with nothing special about it at all, that is until Edge walks into view. Edge starts by saying that he has heard a lot of rumours going around from not only the guys in the back but from fans and others from all around the place. They believe that he is scared of Christian and that is why he has been attacking Captain Charisma under ‘unfair conditions’ and probably why he is ‘hiding’ in an isolated room for the entire night. But then again, Edge doesn’t care what anybody but Edge has to say, he doesn’t rely on anybody for anything anymore. If he did listen to these rumours, it would probably cost him his match on Sunday just like Christian and the WWE Universe cost him the World Heavyweight Championship, which is the most important thing in the entire world to him. And no, Edge isn’t hiding from anything. He is using his time wisely to study up for his match at the pay per view on Sunday. He is studying matches of Christian, a variety of hardcore and Extreme Rules matches as well as re-watching every single contest in which he outwrestled his former tag team partner, which was incidentally every match they had together. Edge continues by saying that Christian doesn’t even know what the word extreme means, but he can show him on Sunday when he beats him once again, one, two three. Edge finishes his promo with a sick little cackle before he shoves the camera down to the ground, destroying the crowd’s view of the Rated R Superstar.

*Fire It Up*

The crowd is jostled back to life after a giant explosion of pyro signals the arrival of the biggest tag team in recent memory, the Big Show and Kane. The two giants slowly make their way into the ring with the commentators mentioning in the background that the elimination style match on Sunday is certainly going to suit Kane and Show. Once inside the squared circle the two men offer little comments to one another, preferring to stand still and wait for their adversaries to arrive.

*End of Days*

A barrage of heat for the WWE Tag Team Champions as they strut down the ramp, not hiding the fact they have one of the most prestigious titles in wrestling around their respective waists. Slater has a look of pure cockiness upon his face while his tag team partner looks slightly more apprehensive, obviously due to the fact that he is staring right into the eyes of Kane as he enters the ring. The two men hand over their championships to the referee and Slater, his self confidence slightly faltered now he is face to face with Kane and Show, ‘allows’ Gabriel to start off the match with their opponents.

Tag Team Match
Kane and Big Show vs. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater

The tag team champions certainly took the two giants to their limits but Kane and Show’s strength, size and power proved to be the difference maker in the end. Slater and Gabriel applied textbook tag team wrestling techniques and kept Kane in their corner for a large majority of the contest. However, this would prove to be the Corre members’ undoing as a red hot Big Show received a tag after a Gabriel mishap and totally cleaned house. Further miscommunication from Heath and Justin led to Slater being tossed over the ropes by a Kane throw and Gabriel being knocked out cold thanks to the big right hand of a certain giant. Slater looked as if he was about to enter the fray once again as Big Show went into the cover but he changed his mind once Kane stood guard over his tag team partner.

A big pop for the winning team and Show makes a big deal of celebrating after showing his complete dominance in the latter part of the contest. Kane remains his gloomy self and the two giants leave the ring as one, Show motioning that they are going to be the new tag team champions come Sunday with the flick of his wrists.

Speaking of the Corre, Matt Striker is shown backstage in the interview pit and he would like to introduce his next guest, the Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett. Striker would first like to ask Barrett whether he is disappointed in his comrade’s performance just moments ago in their loss to the Big Show and Kane. Barrett is quick to answer and says that a man as successful as himself does not dwell on the past but he does look towards the future. In his future stands Rey Mysterio, former World Heavyweight Champion, current number one contender and a man respected all around the globe. But Barrett does not care how many people ‘love’ Rey Mysterio and how many championships the luchador has collected, he is going to be just another man that got in the way of the future of this company, just like Big Show, just like Kane, just like Kofi and just like countless others. While others may see respect, all Barrett sees is a tired, old and weak man in Rey and he needs to step down and let the winds of change blow through Smackdown for the benefit of the WWE Universe, those that he supposedly serves with all of his being. After that little rant, Striker then asks Barrett’s comments on Theodore Long changing the Corre’s match on Sunday to an elimination contest. Barrett answers by stating that many would consider Kingston, Show and Kane will have the advantage going into Extreme Rules as the Corre will be forced to eliminate two giants as well as the Ghanaian in order to retain their championships. However, many people have forgotten that his adversaries are going to have to eliminate him and not just go for the easy option; taking out Gabriel or maybe even Slater. Also, Barrett has this man to help him out on Sunday, Ezekiel Jackson. Barrett moves slightly to his left to allow big Zeke into the shot of the camera, who is wearing a quizzical look on his face, maybe he wasn’t told that is going to interfere in Sunday’s match after being ‘told off’ for several weeks. Striker thanks Barrett for his time, with the Englishman leaving the screen with Jackson, still not looking entirely certain, by his side.

Several shots of superstars being hit with steel chairs, put through tables and lying in agony on the mat are shown as the narrator states that it’s the one night a year rules are meant to be extreme. This night is WWE Extreme Rules and the narrator continues by saying that there will be no count-outs, while shots of Daniel Bryan and the Miz brawling on the ramp and Kofi Kingston yelling in agony after being thrown into the steel steps are shown, and no disqualifications, images of Edge holding a chair above his head and Jack Swagger maliciously tugging on the Big Show’s ankle are shown, even if you beg for mercy. On this night, Orton cracks Swagger in the head with a trash can and Cody Rhodes hits a Cross Rhodes on the steel grating upon Rey Mysterio, anything goes!

After that rather brutal advertisement, a shrill scream breaks the air and a cameraman, presumably sprinting as the shot is bumping up and down, catches a view of Kelly Kelly leaning over a still body in the backstage area. As the camera gets closer, Kelly looks incredibly pale and her bottom lip is shivering uncontrollably, the body on the ground is wearing tights with the slogan ‘T-Locks’ printed in neon green down the side. As the camera moves further up Barreta’s body and locks onto his head what appears to be a crude Rey Mysterio mask, cut in black and red fabric, has been shoved onto Trent’s cranium. However, this is not what Kelly is screaming about as the clearly unconscious young man has a drool of blood running down from his nose and mouth onto the concrete floor. Both the cameraman and the beautiful young Diva call for more help before the recording device is shut off.

*Just Close Your Eyes*

A huge pop for Captain Charisma and the Canadian looks incredibly cheery as he walks onto the stage, dressed to compete in wrestling tights along with a WWE shop.com singlet over his torso, microphone also in hand. After scouting for his beloved fans, Christian motions with a flick of his hands for his music to be cut and the peeps to quieten down so he can get something off his chest. Christian raises the microphone to his lips and just as he opens his mouth to speak a ‘Christian’ chant breaks out around the arena, the Canadian pausing and soaking the adulation in for a few moments. Again, Christian goes to speak into the microphone but, no chant this time, once again doesn’t speak just as he raises it to his lips. Christian repeats this action once more before throwing the microphone down the side of the ramp and turning his back to the crowd, looking back with a focused expression on his face and pointing directly at the Extreme Rules print on the minitron. Captain Charisma then proceeds down the ramp and enters the ring, looking happy once more. Matthews speculates that Christian is playing off the fact that he is going to let his actions do the talking in two days time at Extreme Rules.

*Smoke and Darkness*

The WWE Universe in North Carolina certainly doesn’t give the masked Cody Rhodes a friendly reception as he walks towards the squared circle, looking slightly psychotic. Rhode’s eyes are twitching under the plastic guard over his once dashing features, and he is mouthing something that cannot be picked up by the camera. Rhodes strolls into the ring and removes his hooded leather jacket, winching at the arena lights facing towards him as he does so. When the official rings the bell it is almost as though a switch has been flicked on inside Rhodes’ head and he appears to notice his opponent for the night, Christian, for the first time. Not only does he notice Christian however, but he sprints right at Captain Charisma and lands a few hard punches to get the contest underway.

Singles Match
Christian vs. Cody Rhodes

These two Smackdown superstars put on one hell of a show for the viewers with either looking capable of putting the other away on a number of instances. In a number of unusual moments when Rhodes was on the attack, the deformed young man would refer to his opponent as ‘Rey Rey’ while stomping, kicking or punching Christian while he was on the canvas. Nearing the conclusion of the contest where Christian nullified Rhodes’ momentum after dropping him with an inverted DDT, someone unwanted made their presence felt. The crowd unloaded a tonne of heat for Edge as he waltzed down the ring with a sick smile on his face, his greasy blonde hair accompanying it. The Rated R Superstar let Christian know exactly what he thought of him and stood just feet away from the ring apron, spewing insults as he goes. With Christian distracted with his opponent for Extreme Rules, the grotesque Rhodes snuck up behind him and rolled him up, grabbing the tights and getting the pinfall victory.

The crowd cannot believe that Edge has screwed Christian once again and the heat rises as Cody Rhodes escapes from the ring and the Rated R Superstar takes his place in the middle of the squared circle, cracking Captain Charisma in the side of the head with a huge boot. The entire world knows what is coming as Edge backs into a corner and begins the methodical stalking of his former tag team partner, going onto one knee, pulling at his scraggly hair and exhaling heavily. Christian is barely able to get to his feet AND the moment he gains a stable base, Edge sprints at him to deliver th- but CHRISTIAN SPRINTS AT HIS RIVAL INSTEAD AND DELIVERS A BONE JARRING SPEAR OF HIS OWN! The crowd are going nuts as Christian reversed Edge’s spear mid move and the impact from the move sent the Rated R Superstar to fall down to the outside, underneath the bottom rope. Captain Charisma slaps his chest a number of times in appreciation for the fan’s support for that particular move and spots Edge trying to make an escape, crawling on his knees towards the back. However, Christian is not going to let him off lightly as he sprints towards the corner and springboards off the middle rope, hitting a beautiful crossbody onto Edge on the outside! The WWE Universe is going insane as a huge group of security guards carry Christian towards the locker rooms, Captain Charisma offering no resistance with a giant grin on his face.

A departing Curt Hawkins can be seen heading towards a car park still wearing his ring, leather jacket and a bag in hand. Matt Striker, and of course his trusty microphone, just manages to catch up to Hawkins and asks him why he walked out on his match earlier in the night. Curt quickly responds by saying that it doesn’t matter why he did what he did because the match was worthless, Hawkins doesn’t care unless he is competing for a title. Striker attempts to ask a follow up question but Hawkins has already outpaced him, gotten into his car and sped away.

*Essence of Excellence*

A Lamborghini Reventon enters the arena honking its horn and that can mean only one thing; Alberto Del Rio has arrived to make his address. The World Heavyweight Champion exits his luxurious vehicle and struts to the ring with his beloved title wrapped tightly around his waist while Ricardo Rodriguez introduces the Mexican aristocrat to the live crowd. Del Rio snatches a microphone from his assistant and the heat for the champion is already huge before he has even had a chance to speak his mind. Alberto starts off his promo by reminding everybody in the arena of his name and that he is their World Heavyweight Champion, but of course they were already aware of these two facts. Del Rio then says that he has heard of many rumours concerning his title defence in two days time at Extreme Rules against Rey Mysterio. And to hear things such as this is an utter disgrace! If Rey, and anybody else, thinks that the luchador will be able to ascend the ladder and claim his world title, they must be delusional. He is not only going to be dashed off of the ladder but he will have all of his crazy visions of holding the World Heavyweight Championship dashed as well in one swift movement. Del Rio has not only beaten but made so many great superstars tap out in a matter of moments to his cross armbreaker; why would Rey think he is not going to be added to that list once again. People like Rey Mysterio do not deserve to be a champion; people such as him are void of any smidgen of class in their entire body, their entire family. The WWE needs a man like Alberto Del Rio to lead the company into the future as the World Heavyweight Champion, a man of power, class, looks and of course respect! Mr McMahon and the WWE Universe needn’t worry a man, no a tapeworm from Tijuana, like Mysterio will ever hold the championship and disgrace the entire company because Del Rio would rather die than allow that to happen. And case the audience has forgotten; it was Del Rio’s destiny to one day capture the richest prize in sports entertainment. But what they do not know is that it is his destiny to hold that title until he says he-

Rey Mysterio isn’t going to let Del Rio continue his bragging and storms out of the curtain to a great ovation from the fans. The Mexican legend skips his usual routine and barely slaps the hands of a couple of hands, preferring to stare intently at his opponent in two days time. Rey enters the ring and poses on a couple of turnbuckles as well as doing a small prayer towards the heavens. Meanwhile Del Rio exits the squared circle and takes a seat next to Booker T with the former six time world champion informing the home viewers that Del Rio will be joining the announce table for tonight’s main event.

Heat is unloaded upon the Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett as he slowly makes his way down the ramp with Ezekiel Jackson following closely behind, the big man from Guyana not looking totally comfortable. The Englishman and his comrade enter the ring via the steel steps and shines up his prestigious title before doing his ‘boxer’ taunt at the cameras of the WWE Universe. Rey approaches the duo and offers his hand towards the Intercontinental Champion. Barrett quickly brushes him off, much to Del Rio’s delight on commentary, and heads towards the official to hand over his title for safe keeping. With Wade’s back turned, Rey offers the same respect towards Jackson, who takes the gesture and quickly shakes the Mexican’s hand, but not quick enough for Barrett not to see! The Corre ‘leader’ goes nuts and screams at big Zeke to exit the ring and focus on giving the champion a victory in the night’s main event. Ezekiel doesn’t look terribly pleased but does as he’s told, this distraction allowing Rey to start the match off by drop kicking Barrett as the Englishman turns around and at the same time that the bell is rung.

Singles Match
Rey Mysterio vs. Wade Barrett w/Ezekiel Jackson

An incredible main event ended the go-home show to Extreme Rules and kept the North Carolinians excited till the conclusion of the broadcast. Barrett looked to have the match in the bag around five minutes in after catching Mysterio in mid air with a spinning side slam, with Rey only just getting his foot onto the bottom rope before the referee could make a three count. However, later on in the contest Rey fought back and Wade was on the back foot. Sensing he needed Jackson, Barrett distracted the official and opened up a blatant opportunity for Ezekiel to blast the fatigued luchador with his signature clothesline as he was resting on the ropes. With a long look at his former leader, big Zeke turned his back and began to walk up the ramp away from the ring. Ironically this distraction against Barrett allowed Rey to drop Wade into the second rope, connect with the 619 and finish things off with a huge frog splash. The crowd chanted along as the referee counted 1,2,3!

Rey, the man truly banged up, just manages to get to his feet on his strength and has his hand risen to a huge ovation. Ezekiel Jackson watched the finish to the match from the top of the ramp and also watches as Barrett steams towards him, a look of pure fury upon his features. The Intercontinental Champion unloads all of his frustration upon his stable mate and after that abuse he swings a giant right hand at the South American- ONLY TO BE CAUGHT BY EZEKIEL. Jackson has Barrett’s right hand in his clutches and a giant smile spreads across his face as the crowd begins to realise what is about to happen. But it is all for nothing as the Englishman escapes Jackson’s hold and scampers behind the curtain, just getting to safety. In the ring, an ecstatic Rey Mysterio watches as Jackson slowly follows and with the commotion on the stage gone, Mysterio raises his arms in the air to a huge pop- BUT HE IS BLASTED IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP BELT! A murderous amount of heat for Alberto Del Rio as he stands over the unconscious luchador and slowly raises his title high into the air with a slick smile.

Not much to say here Peep. It was a solid show as always. The recap form can be tough to pull off but you do it well and it gets people into the show. The matches have been developed well and the two main matches I cannot wait to see. They have been built well and I am excited for them. I wish I had more to say, but that's all that really comes to mind. Other than that. Still loving the direction you are taking with Curt Hawkins, and love how Baretta is involved in something. They are two of my favorites and have huge potential, and always loved to see them involved. Great show as always, can't wait to see the PPV, and can't wait for the draft, it should shake things up some.

Bearded Review

-Pretty solid go home show Peepers. Not going completely in depth but I'll touch on points.

-Good to see that the Hawkins and Masters match went down and even better to see that there wasn't a clear cut winner. Both these guys are on the rise early on and need any and all momentum they can snatch up.

-The Trenty attack has me interested. Gotta think it was Cody Rhodes due to the Mysterio connection or maybe we see a hinted heel turn coming for Rey Rey which would make little to no sense at the moment.

-Good match between Christian and Cody. Even with Edge's influence I'm iffy on Captain C not picking up the win. Though Edge finally getting the upper hand balances things out since it has been all Christian.

-Love what you are doing with Swagger. He needs solid booking behind him and hopefully you provide just that. So far so good.

-ADR gets the upper hand heading into Extreme Rules, good. Ive been iffy on him as champ, maybe it is Mysterio as I just dont see the appeal of him. I do want to see how ADR goes for you down the road as champ assuming he wins at ER.

----Nice way of opening the show with the announcement of the tag champs facing their opponents for Sunday. I think it may have worked better to have one of each tag team in single's competition against another, as the match Sunday will be a tag match, albeit a 6 man, elimination style. I really like that type of match rather then the one fall to a finish, winner take all that we generally get in those matches. As for Smackdown Christian/Rhodes and Mysterio/Barrett both sound like hot matches, so a very nice intro!

----A very nice touch in having Kofi sell his injuries coming out for his match after the beatdown from Jackson from two weeks prior. Thats great attention to detail that could easily be forgotten. Im not a huge fan of the recap format of matches, as I favor the storytelling aspect, but you do the recaps well. A good win for Kofi over the former WHC to give him momentum heading into Sunday despite still obviously being injured.

----Interesting segment introducing the two mystery men and following up on last week as to what their motivations may be. I thought I had it figured out last week who both were, but I feel in the dark after one cut a promo this week, so it will be interesting to see how it develops from here. Good follow-up.

----Typical Rey promo, which isn't a bad thing. I like how he talked about respect and how hes earned it, while Del Rio hasn't, but in the end, remained focused on what truly matters: The WHC.

----Interesting development in the match between Hawkins and Masters. Its apparent Masters is getting the push and it makes him look very strong by having his opponent bail rather then face him. Hopefully the follow up will show that wins and losses are important and Master's will get into a program following ER. Good lower mid-card development, and intriguen going to the break with the "former world champion" barging into Teddy's office.

----I really liked the Edge promo, for the most part. The "in an isolation room watching" has been overdone to the point that it signifies that Edge will likely be getting involved later in the Christian match, but the promo itself was very strong, with Edge emphasizing both his continued blame of Christian for losing the title, as well as emphasizing the title as the most important thing in the world, as it should be.

----The tag match was exactly what it should have been, with Show and Kane eventually overpowering Slater and Gabriel. With a numbers advantage such as Nexus or Corre, it's simply not believable that they could beat Show and Kane straight up. Sunday is different because of the elimination style of the match and the inclusion of Barrett and the injured Kofi, but this was fine for what it was and the right team won.

----Good continued tease of the split between the Corre. Barrett ignored the loss Gabriel and Slater just occurred and actually built them up by empahsizing how they won't be easy to deal with on Sunday. Jackson obviously looms as the wild-card, which is a good thing, as you don't know whether or not he'll turn, hurt the Corre inadvertantly with blatant interference, or make the difference with a ref distracted or downed on Sunday. You really captured Barrett well here.

----Interesting backstage development with Barretta. Alot of "what will happen next" moments so far on the show with the two yet to be revealed men, the "Former World Champion" barging into Long's office, and now Barretta knocked out in the back with a crude Mysterio mask. Hopefully answers will come to all 3 in the near future.

----An interesting match between Rhodes and Edge. Edge's appearance was expected as I noted earlier, but I was surprised it was just as a distraction and he didnt get physical. I would have gone for the decisive victory for Rhodes using CrossRhodes because Christian was distracted, but regardless, Edge gets the better of Christian once again this week. The obsession of Cody with Rey was well done within the context of the match with the "Rey, Rey" taunts at Christian, as you've pushed the "Disfigured" character darker then WWE has.

----Good to see Christian get his credibility back after the match by getting the better of Edge in the physical exchange, and a nice psychological touch in using Edge's own move against him. This is my favorite feud you have going and can't wait for their Extreme Rules match.

----Strong Del Rio promo. Im not a huge fan of the champion wrestling many non-title matches, and you've done a good job keeping Del Rio out of the ring for the most part. Again, a very good emphasis on the title as Del Rio mentioned he would die before he let Rey take it from him, which isnt a typical heel promo, but Del Rio isnt a typical heel in the way he gets submissions and the like. The rest was standard fare of Rey being beneath him and it being his destiny to hold the title.

---And wait, here's Rey. I would have preferred he responded to Del Rio before his match, but I like how you portrayed him as focused and intense. The match with Barrett and Rey was slightly disapointing, as I never really got a feel for how they got to the 11 minute mark. It seemed rushed to the end somewhat, even in recap format. They did well in playing up the issues between Barrett and Jackson, and I think we have our answer for Sunday for what Jackson will do, unless this is a gigantic swerve. Good job of fitting two storylines into one match with the Corre situation and WHC match. Rey needed the win here to grab some momentum heading into Sunday, and Del Rio sucks part of it away by blasting Rey with the title.

----Final Thoughts: This was a decent show. All of the major matches for the PPV were nicely plugged, and some minor storylines continued to advance. The Edge/Christian feud is the best thing going on the show, but DelRio and Rey is very good as well. I like the elimination style, winner take all match for the IC and Tag Straps, it just would have been nice if you could have found a way to fit one more match on the card, although a difficult proposition with the talent that is there. Some mysteries were left up in the air, so it remains to be seen whether they'll be answered at the PPV, or will continue on. Solid go home show for the most part. B.

Peep, here's a review coming your way. The summary format for this wasn't as I expected. I thought that I wouldn't get the full gist of things, but surprisingly I did. It was excellently summarized and to the point. But the other format from your earlier shows would've been nice too.

Good first match with Swagger and Kingston. I agree with LSN with emphasizing Kofi's injury during the match. Attention to little details can be very helpful. I was expecting Swagger to come out on top and weaken Kingston even more but Kingston won so it made the Tag Team match for ER more interesting for me.

Wondering about that vignette, who those guys are. Hmm. Interesting video too. After that was a Rey promo. Pretty good promo as it was talking about respect and how Rey earned it. I think you made Rey a better talker here than in real life.

Hawkins and Masters have been getting good time on Smackdown! It really is a better place to build up the undercard than Raw. I like the outcome of this match. It made Masters looks strong while getting Hawkins the heat he needs.

The tag team match went as expected as the two giants won. But Gabriel and Slater for me, didn't look weak. The outcome was great as it was. With Slater not helping Gabriel, it made for an interesting story.

My favorite match of the night was Christian vs. Rhodes. Ofcourse Edge was going to interrupt this match. But even if I knew that, it was still a hell of a match, also despite the summary writing. This is my favorite feud you have going on and maybe might consider this being your last match on ER for Smackdown.

Oh! How could I forget? The incident with Baretta is pretty interesting. I wanna see if you let Baretta get a feud in with a superstar as this kid really is talented. Maybe not though, as it was probably Rhodes who attacked him. But it's good to see Baretta on the show even if it is in this way.

The last match was really good. Barrett I thought would get the win here as he needed one since his buddies lost tonight. But Rey won one instead which is good for him as he needed momentum going into ER. Jackson going up the ramp huh? I still can't tell whether he'll turn at ER though. Solid match.

Overall, good show leading up to ER. ER will be a great pay per view coming from both shows. I'll be sure to read that and give a review. Cheers Peep!

[The Best]

Bored at almost 2:30 in the morning here, so here's a review.

- Kofi and Swagger start the show off, in a good back and forth match here, and Kofi eventually gets the win. I like the match, but I don't feel like there's a story behind this match, and if there was maybe a promo, or the beginning of a feud or something, than it would make more sense, but I guess not.

- Decent promo by Rey; followed by a solid match between Masters and Hawkins which ends in a count-out which is fine, I guess.

- Here we go, great tag-team match between Big Show and Kane; leading up to their 6-man-tag-team-match at Extreme Rules, and Show and Kane come out on top is a very smart decision in my opinion; I can't wait for their ER match.

- Cody Rhodes vs. Christian is good. I love how this Rhodes character is going, and I can't wait to see where he goes. Edge interferes, which I saw coming, so good booking here, and great way to get Rhodes over; while building up Edge vs. Christian at ER.

- Good promo by ADR, and then Rey interupts, and has his main event match against Wade Barrett, which Rey rightfully goes over in. Big Zeke teases a face turn, and ADR attacks Rey, and stands tall over Rey.

Overall: C+: Even though the grade doesn't seem so good, I actually really likes this show; especially the 2nd half. ER looks like it's going to be very good, and I PM'ed you my predictions for it, so good luck.

Excellent 'go home' show before Extreme Rules; looking forward to it mate. I wanted your Edge and Christian feud to be different and it is - having Edge as the aggressor is better and more believable right now. Also I wanted you to move away from WWE rivalries and I think this show did this better for me.

Justin and Heath vs. Kane and Show, Wade vs. Mysterio (why not Kofi?) and Christian vs. Cody announced early. Kofi gets tainted win over Swagger in first match, great idea. Swagger will be even more pi$$ed about this! The Tag Team vignettes are doing a good job of making me think about who they are and I am interested in seeing them when they arrive on SMACKDOWN. Interview with Rey - underdog Rey, yuk! Hawkins deliberately losing to Masters, keeps them both strong and you explain that later with Hawkins only interested in title match. Swagger isn't happy and goes in to see GM. No further information, very clever, keeps us guessing. Show and Kane, predictably, win which is right. Shows they are a legitimate threat to the titles this Sunday. However, you are teasing the Zeke turn and I think he will cost Corre the titles this Sunday. A swerve would be excellent though! Trent Barretta attacked and a Rey Mysterio mask over his head? Cody? Del Rio? Wade? Swagger? Hmm. I think you're clearly setting up the next feud and maybe this means that Rey will win at Extreme Rules? Christian gets some revenge on Edge after his match with Cody, Cody is popping up all over the place and I sense a push coming for him. Main event, Del Rio promo and on commentary, Zeke turns on Wade, Rey wins the match, Del Rio with the title shot to Rey!

POSITIVES:
- Excellent build to the feuds, particularly Edge vs. Christian and Wade Barrett's match.
- Still building strong characters who won't be on PPV - i.e. Cody, Hawkins, Masters, mystery Tag Team.
- Lots of mysteries and questions - What is Swagger up to? Who attacked Trent?

IMPROVEMENTS:
- Tough one but I'd say you still need to get away from WWE feuds as you already know. You're sowing seeds of new things and I hope you can make the big changes needed after the PPV!

Shots of the Georgia Dome are shown; fans going crazy in anticipation for Wrestlemania to begin.

Narrator: At an historic Wrestlemania some superstars seized their perfect moment.

The four members of the Corre stumble up the gigantic ‘Mania style ramp looking gleeful and Alberto Del Rio raises his championship high above his head. Randy Orton poses proudly on a turnbuckle and Rey Mysterio embraces a crowd of fans in the front row, his face glowing with joy. Finally, the Miz is shown clutching his title to his chest and being helped to his feet by Alex Riley but still with a wily grin upon his face.

Narrator: But where there is success, there is failure.

Christian taps the mat in submission and a distraught Edge can only watch as Del Rio leaves Wrestlemania with the World Heavyweight Championship. An image of John Cena on the end of the Rock Bottom is shown, his shoulders then pinned to the mat for a three count. CM Punk slaps the mat in frustration and a fleeting shot of Cody Rhodes, his face masked by a plastic guard, jumps into the video package.

Narrator: Tonight, bitter rivals will battle.

With Rev Theory’s Justice now playing softly various brawls between Edge and Christian including punches, boots and most importantly spears, both men looking as if they want to rip the other’s throat out. The Viper punts each member of the Nexus in the temple, Punk hitting a cracking GTS, the top rope RKO from Wrestlemania.

Michael Cole: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Extreme Rules! We are live from the St. Pete Times Forum in beautiful Tampa, Florida. I’m Michael Cole and joining me as always is Josh Mathews and Booker T. Are you guys ready to get extreme?

Booker T: Dude Cole I can’t wait dawg. These rivalries have been heated for months and it all comes to an end here. Careers will be shortened, bodies will be bruised, and egos will be deflated. It’s about to get real extreme up in here.

Josh Mathews: You hit the nail on the head Book. Extreme Rules is always one of the WWE’s most exciting events. And joining us for the excitement is none other than our Spanish broadcast colleagues, Carlos Cabrera and Hugo Savinovich.

Josh Mathews-It looks like we are going to get started with the two of the brightest rising stars in the WWE today, John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler. Morrison promised last week on Raw that 2011 we will see a new and improved John Morrison. You have to think a win tonight over Ziggler will prove just that.

Booker T-Right on the money Josh. John Morrison has been so close to grabbing that brass ring. The fans know it and Morrison himself knows it. That being you don’t get many opportunities to be at the top and Morrison’s may be running out.

John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero

Justin King is the assigned official for this two out of three falls contest to kick off Extreme Rules. Vickie and Dolph discuss some last minute strategy before King rings the bell and Extreme Rules is officially underway. Morrison and Ziggler circle the ring before locking up. Ziggler wins the lockup and gets Morrison in a headlock. That doesn’t last too long as Ziggler is thrown into the ropes by Morrison. Morrison goes for a forearm shot, but Ziggler thinks he has outsmarted him by hanging onto the ropes. However Morrison is quick to pounce as he clotheslines Ziggler over the top rope and Morrison goes along for the ride with him. Morrison and Ziggler continue their battle on the outside. Ziggler goes to slam Morrison’s head against the security wall, but Morrison blocks and sends Ziggler face first into the barrier. Ziggler bounces back and Morrison jumps to the top of the barrier and goes for the Flying Chuck, but Ziggler rolls out of the way and shoves Morrison into the steel stairs. Morrison flips over the stairs and his body crashes over by the announcer’s table. Morrison pulls himself up with help from the announce table, favoring his knee. Ziggler goes for a rare high risk move as he runs and jumps atop of the stairs and nails Morrison with a flying clothesline. Vickie is cheering on her man as Ziggler is up and rolling the injured Morrison into the ring. Ziggler goes for the pinfall and chance to secure the one-zero advantage.

Ziggler yells at King as he can’t believe he couldn’t secure the most important fall. Ziggler focuses his attention back on Morrison. Ziggler grabs the injured knee of Morrison and slams it off the mat. Morrison knee bounces off the mat and the Shaman of Sexy winces in pain. Ziggler follows up by driving his knee into the back of Morrison’s and wrenching it in the process. You can hear Morrison scream, but he is refusing to submit. Ziggler keeps demanding that Justin King ask Morrison if he quits, but to no avail. Ziggler can’t seem to catch a break so he elevates himself and his knee comes crashing down onto the back of Morrison’s injured knee. Morrison screams and immediately clenches his knee and rolls around on the mat. Ziggler signals that is the end and he rolls Morrison over of the cover.

Ziggler slams the mat and screams “come on” at Justin King, who ensures Ziggler it was a two count. Ziggler continues to argue with King over the count. Morrison scoots over and manages to roll up Ziggler.

Ziggler was caught off guard by the Morrison roll up. Ziggler is right up and goes for a kick to Morrison’s temple, but Morrison ducks and again rolls up Ziggler.

Ziggler again is the first man up and this time he connects with a kick square into the ribs of John Morrison. Morrison flies back crashes under the ropes and is clenching his ribs from the ring apron. Ziggler wastes no time and nails the prone Morrison with a baseball slide, which sends Morrison crashing to the outside and nearly into the ringside announce tables. Vickie has now decided to get involved in the match as she yells down at Morrison before slapping him in the face. Ziggler is now on the outside as he is mocking Morrison before driving his foot into his midsection. Ziggler lifts Morrison up and goes to throw him into the security wall. Morrison counters and again jumps atop the barrier. Ziggler charges and goes to push Morrison off, but Morrison backflips off the barrier and Ziggler crashes and burns. Morrison holds his knee as he is still feeling the effects from earlier. Ziggler turns around and Morrison nails him with a dropkick, which sends the blonder haired superstar into the front row. The crowd erupts as they all try to get their chance to touch a WWE superstar. Ziggler tries to roll himself back into the ringside area, but is held back by the fans. Morrison intervenes and suplexes Ziggler over the barrier and onto the floor below. Morrison and Ziggler both hold their back as they are clearly feeling it. Morrison is the first one up and he rolls Ziggler into the ring. Morrison eyes Vickie, who remains away from the action. Morrison crawls into the ring and goes for a cover.

Morrison doesn’t bother arguing the count as he waits for Ziggler. Morrison is in position to nail Ziggler with his trademark running knee. Ziggler begins to sit up, but Vickie, like the leech she is, latches onto the leg of John Morrison. Morrison tries to shake her off, but she just won’t let go. Ziggler is now up and he goes for a Zig Zag, but Morrison grabs onto the ropes and Dolph crashes to the mat. Morrison finally kicks Vickie off, sending the cougar down to the ground. Ziggler is seated and Morrison goes for the running knee, but Ziggler ducks and tries to roll Morrison up for a pin. Morrison follows through, avoids the pin and nails the off put Ziggler with a knee straight to the temple. Morrison falls right into the cover.

Justin Roberts-The winner of the first fall…JOHN MORRISON!

Josh Mathews-And John Morrison picks up the much important first fall of this match. This puts the Prince of Parkour in the driver’s seat.

Booker T-Y’all see what Morrison did there? He shook off the adversity, he ignored his injury, and he followed through. Those are the tools of a champion dawg and Morrison might prove tonight that he is indeed championship material.

Michael Cole-Lets not jump the gun. Ziggler can easily grab this second fall and even this up. Morrison isn’t in the clear yet.

Justin King backs Morrison into his respected corner and Ziggler crawls over to his corner, where Vickie awaits furious over the fact that Morrison “harmed” her. Ziggler is still a bit shaken from the knee to the head and Morrison still has his knee clenched from earlier in the match. Ziggler is finally on his feet and King rings the bell for the second fall. Ziggler charges Morrison out of frustration, but the Monday Night Delight ducks out of the way and Ziggler crashes into the corner. Morrison bounces off the ropes and takes down a turning Ziggler with a flying forearm shot. Ziggler is down on the mat and Morrison shows off his athleticism with a standing Shooting Star Press. The crowd is amazed as Morrison nailed it with relative ease and right into a cover.

The crowd gasps as they thought it was over and so did Morrison. Morrison sits Ziggler up and goes for another running knee. Morrison bolts, but Ziggler rolls out of the way and Morrison stumbles as he landed awkwardly on his knee. Morrison turns around, but is taken back down by a kick straight to the knee by Ziggler followed up with a spinning neckbreaker. Ziggler crawls right into the cover.

Ziggler again shouts out of frustration and Vickie can be heard yelling from the outside. Ziggler rolls to the outside and grabs himself a steel chair. Morrison is really favoring his knee as Justin King checks on his condition. Ziggler throws the chair in the ring and is quick to follow. Ziggler grabs the chair and runs at Morrison. Morrison however counters with a kick to Ziggler’s gut. Morrison pulls himself to his feet, but is quickly taken down by a chair shot straight to the ribcage. Ziggler goes for another chair shot, but Morrison is quick to counter again with a superkick right in the chair, sending it and Ziggler to the outside. Ziggler rolls around the outside holding onto his head as Vickie tries to motivate him. Morrison hobbles to his feet and moves towards the ropes. The crowd cheers in anticipation. Ziggler is up to his feet rather groggily and Morrison goes for his Corkscrew Plancha. Morrison twirls as the crowd watches. Vickie quickly pulls Ziggler out of the way and Morrison crashes to the outside. The crowd grimaces as Morrison’s body thuds on the outside. Vickie revives Ziggler on the outside and gives him directions as to what to do. Ziggler stumbles over to Morrison, who hasn’t moved since missing the plancha. Ziggler rolls Morrison into the ring and grabs his steel chair as well. Ziggler is now in the ring and he argues with the crowd instead of going for the cover. Ziggler drives the chair into Morrison’s knee countless times as the crowd just boos heavily. Dolph throws the chair down and claps his hands signaling the end. Ziggler covers up the motionless Morrison.

Ziggler is in shocked and the crowd erupts at Morrison showing signs of life. Ziggler is up and pacing around the ring pulling at his hair. Vickie pulls herself up to the apron and her and Ziggler talk. Dolph clearly is frustrated and is letting Morrison get in his head. Justin King is still checking on Morrison who is slowly coming to it. Ziggler watches on intently as Morrison pulls himself up and limps around. Ziggler goes for the attack, but Morrison ducks it. Morrison turns and starts throwing lefts and rights at Ziggler, but they are weak and fable. Dolph ends Morrison assault with a kick to the knee. Morrison falls to one knee and Ziggler runs across the ropes and drops Morrison with a Zig Zag. Vickie jumps for joy on the outside as Ziggler goes for the pinfall.

Justin Roberts-The winner of the second fall….DOLPH ZIGGLER!

Michael Cole-I told you so. Now that is the heart of a champion. Morrison is all flash, but Dolph Ziggler is the substance. He is a natural and if you think Morrison handles adversity, what about Ziggler? He was down a fall and now he has it evened up and Morrison on the ropes.

Booker T-This ain’t over yet Cole. Ziggler sure has the advantage, but you cannot count out John Morrison. If he is a changed man he won’t let this knee injury affect him.

Ziggler and Vickie celebrate in their corner and mock Morrison, who can barely stand up. Morrison pulls himself up in the corner and Justin King asks if he is ready to compete. Morrison nods and King rings the bell. Morrison and Ziggler meet in the middle of the ring. They began to jaw jack before Ziggler goes for a right that Morrison blocks. Morrison goes for a kick, but Ziggler grabs his leg. Morrison tries to swing at Ziggler, but it fails as Ziggler is just too far away. Ziggler goes to throw Morrison’s leg into the mat, but Morrison counters it into a front flip and nails Ziggler in the head with the back of his boot. The reverse Pele has Ziggler dazed in the ropes. Morrison hobbles up to his feet, but Ziggler speed crawls over and clips Morrison in the knee and goes right for the cover.

Both men are clearly exhausted at this point as Ziggler just lays on the mat in astonishment. Ziggler is up and stalking Morrison, ready for a sleeper. Morrison hobbles up and Ziggler locks in the sleeper hold. Morrison tries to maneuver out of the sleeper, but Ziggler has it locked in. Morrison falls to one knee and Justin King checks on his status. King raises Morrison’s arm and lets it go. However, Morrison doesn’t let his arm fall. Morrison shakes his arm and the crowd is clearly generating the adrenaline rush Morrison is under. Morrison gets himself up to his feet and nails Ziggler with an elbow to the midsection, breaking the sleeper hold. Morrison and Ziggler now are going back and forth with lefts and rights with the crowd going “boo and yeah” with every punch. Morrison gains the edge and gets Ziggler backed into the ropes. Morrison whips him into the ropes and charges, but Ziggler counters the attack with a huge tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Ziggler collapses for the cover.

Ziggler rolls off Morrison and heads to the outside of the ring and begins to scrounge around under the ring for something. Ziggler pulls out a table sets it up. Ziggler reaches in the ring and pulls Morrison out. Ziggler sets Morrison’s body on the table and signals to the fans that the match is over. Ziggler climbs to the top of the ropes and looks to go for a splash, but Morrison rolls off the table. Ziggler hops off the turnbuckle and onto the apron. Ziggler jumps off, but Morrison was playing possum and nails the flying Ziggler with a huge superkick. The crowd is in frenzy as this opening contest is everything they could have asked for. Morrison rolls Ziggler into the ring and hops onto the apron. And again just like earlier in the match, Vickie has latched onto Morrison’s leg. Morrison again can’t shake her off. Ziggler runs at Morrison, but Morrison sees it coming and ducks down. Ziggler goes flying and crashes onto the table. The crowd pops and Vickie lets go to check on the condition of her man. Morrison hops off the apron and digs Dolph’s body out of the rubble from the table. Morrison rolls Dolph into the ring and quickly follows as Vickie is distraught on the outside. Morrison has Ziggler all set up and nails Starship Pain. Morrison crawls to make the cover.

Justin King raises the hand of Morrison as the crowd pops for his victory. Morrison celebrates on the ropes as Vickie checks on the condition of her man, Dolph Ziggler.

Josh Mathews-What a way to kick off Extreme Rules! Both men took a beating and it was John Morrison who prevailed tonight.

Booker T-Ya gotta tip your hat to Ziggler though. He took Morrison to the limit right here and he showed that he belongs just as much as John does. Tonight however is about John Morrison. That kid has some intestinal fortitude dawg. 2011 could very well be the year of John Morrison.

After the opening contest of the pay-per-view the camera cuts backstage where Matt Striker is standing by in a pristine suit with a microphone in hand.

Matt Striker: Ladies and gentlemen please welcome my guest at this time; he is the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Rey Mysterio.

A huge pop goes up for the legendary luchador as he walks into the shot and stands beside Matt Striker. Rey’s attire is a combination of blue and white, a stark contrast to the darker colours of the Extreme Rules themed interview pit.

Matt Striker: Rey what are your thoughts on Alberto Del Rio’s blind side attack just two night’s prior on Smackdown?

Rey Mysterio: Well Matt I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t more than a little banged up after that cheap shot with the title belt.

A smidgen of heat for the mention of the cheap shot, Mysterio adjusts his mask and continues with a brave smile.

Rey Mysterio: But that attack revealed something to me Matt, it revealed that Alberto Del Rio is not one hundred percent confident that he is going to retain his championship later tonight. You see, deep underneath all of his money, cars and gigantic estates Del Rio is not the brave champion that he says he is. And now that Alberto is being forced to defend that prestigious championship one-on-one, without anybody else throw into the mix, everybody in the WWE Universe, and the world, will be able to see the true champion Del Rio is.

A big pop and Rey focuses again on Striker, anticipating his next question.

Matt Striker: What do you think of the people who say that you don’t stand a chance against Del Rio in the ladder match tonight, that you will never hold the World Heavyweight Championship again in your decorated career?

Rey Mysterio: I don’t think about them Matt; I have never paid attention to the doubters a single moment in my entire career. They may be saying that Alberto Del Rio is the future of this company and that he will be champion for a long time to come but I don’t care. They may be saying that I will never hold another championship, let alone the World Heavyweight Championship, in my life and that it is time for me to step down and let the new generation take over the reins of the greatest company in the world. But I ain’t going anywhere just yet!

Pop.

Rey Mysterio: Alberto Del Rio thinks that he can be the leader of the WWE; well he is going to have to go through me first. I am not going to lie down and just let the stars of the next generation take their places, they are going to have to earn it – Del Rio included. They may not thank me now but in the end it is going to make them stronger, more complete superstars that will learn that respecting those that came before them will earn them respect. And I definitely don’t think that Del Rio has learned this lesson just yet, but I promise to teach it to him the hard way later tonight.

Another pop, slightly louder this time.

Rey Mysterio: I thrive off being the underdog, when people tell me that I cannot do something that only makes me want it that much more. My hunger for the World Heavyweight Championship has never been greater, and if Del Rio wants to hang onto his title he is going to have to be on his a game later tonight. Matt, you may remember that Del Rio said last Friday on Smackdown that he would rather die than let me regain the World Heavyweight Championship. Well Alberto, be careful what you wish for – this is a ladder match. You do not even know how much that title means to me – I’m either going to climb the ladder and capture the championship or I’m going to die trying!

A huge pop for Mysterio as he exits the interview pit, the eyes behind his mask determined as ever.

Matt Striker: Thank you for your time Rey.

After those comments from Mysterio we return to the arena where the audience is focused upon Justin Roberts, about to introduce the next match.

Justin Roberts: The following is a six man elimination tag team match and it is for the Intercontinental and WWE Tag Team championships.

The WWE Universe pop loudly as the match is announced by Roberts, but those cheers soon turn to jeers as the first competitors make their entrance...

Heat is unloaded upon the Corre as they burst through the curtain, their respective championships gleaming in the arena lights. Wade Barrett confidently leads the group down the ramp with a cocky Heath Slater and stony faced Justin Gabriel trailing just a few feet behind. Despite some tension between Barrett, Slater, Gabriel and of course Ezekiel Jackson, the competing men look like a unit in their ‘Corre’ t-shirts.

Justin Roberts: Introducing first, at a combined weight of 715 pounds, WWE Tag Team Champions Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett... THE CORRE!

The three men enter the ring one after the other and assemble together in the middle. After a quick discussion between the trio, the Corre remove the titles from around their waists and raise them high into the air, emitting more hatred from the WWE Universe in Tampa.

By now, the Corre have reluctantly handed over their championships to the official and are waiting patiently by a turnbuckle for their opponents to make their entrance. Barrett attempts to give a last minute pep talk to his stable mates but the tag team specialists seem pre-occupied with the titantron; the time to tangle with two giants growing ever closer.

WEEEEEEEEEEELL, IT’S A BIG SHOOOOOOOW... BOOM!

*Fire It Up*

Kane and the Big Show make their way onto the stage through a ‘fire’ of pyro to a nice reaction from the live audience. The two giants slowly walk down the ramp, Show slapping a few fans’ hands as he goes, and stop a couple of feet before the ring apron. After feinting that they were about to storm the squared circle, Show and Kane stay put and wait for their tag team partner to join them on the floor outside the ring.

Justin Roberts: And their opponents, the challengers, first, at a combined weight of 808 pounds... KANE AND THE BIG SHOW!

Josh Matthews: Barrett and co. are going to have to pull out all the stops if they want to hold onto their gold tonight. Eliminating both Kane and the Big Show will be no easy feat.

Booker T: Now don’t count out the Corre just yet Josh, there is a reason they hold those championships.

The crowd begins to lull a bit but they grow louder again as the arena turns green and a familiar theme song plays-

SOS... I HEAR DEM SHOUTIN’! SOS... I HEAR DEM CRYIN’!

*S.O.S.*

A huge cheer goes up as Kofi Kingston bounds onto the stage, a giant smile set across the Ghanaian’s face. Three hand slaps sets off three green bursts of fireworks into the crowd and after those ‘booms’ Kofi bounces down the ramp and joins his tag team partners for the evening.

Justin Roberts: And their tag team partner, from Ghana, West Africa, weighing in at 221 pounds... KOFI KINGSTON!

Booker T: If Kofi Kingston can lead his team on to victory he will be crowned the new Intercontinental Champion and I believe that he is just the man to do that. Kingston is one of my favourite superstars on Smackdown and that man right ‘dere has a big future ahead of him in the WWE.

Michael Cole: Oh get over it Booker, why don’t you wait until the end of the match until you start picking favourite; don’t go making yourself sounds as stupid as you look tonight; a white suit – seriously?

The Book man makes a ‘witty’ comeback as the final man included in this big tag team match flies into the ring, Kane and Show close behind. The two teams set up in their respective corners and it appears that Kingston is going to be the first man to compete for his team. After a bit of a kerfuffle in the Corre corner, Barrett has decided that it is going to be Justin Gabriel to fly the flag for their stable first up; a decision that the high flyer is none too happy with. The referee asks if the two Africans are ready to start and after seeing two swift nods the official doesn’t hesitate in calling for the bell to be rung...​

The bell chimes and both legal competitors slowly wander into the middle of the ring, trying to spot a weakness in the other before they move in. After a couple of moments of scouting, Gabriel and Kingston lock up and attempt to gain the vital, first advantage over the other. Eventually, after a bit of grappling, Gabriel takes that advantage and slides behind Kingston, locking in a rear waist lock. That doesn’t last too long as Kofi slips out and executes an excellent go-behind, locking in a rear waist lock of his own. Justin attempts to battle out but Kofi runs at the ropes, rebounds Gabriel off of them and rolls up the South African, looking to eliminate one man early on...

2... BUT GABRIEL USES HIS LEG STRENGTH TO PUSH KOFI OFF!

This is where things begin to pick up as Gabriel uses his momentum to thrust at his opponent with a swift clothesline, but Kofi is too quick and ducks under it, and heads for the ropes himself. Gabriel lies under the oncoming Ghanaian and then leapfrogs him as he rebounds off of the ropes for the second time in a row. However the third time is the charm for the Corre as Justin scores a kick to the gut of the rushing Kingston, much to the delight of Wade Barrett and Heath Slater on the apron. Gabriel attempts to follow the kick up with a suplex but despite being suspended vertically in the air, Kingston is able to float over Justin’s shoulders and score a sharp European uppercut on the chin of his opponent as he turns around. This shot sends the Corre member sprawling towards a neutral corner and Kingston charges at Gabriel and, to the delight of the fans, soars through the air in an attempt to nail a Koronco Buster, but Justin dodges it at the last moment. However, Kingston has landed his feet on the second rope and launches his body at Gabriel, catching him in a crossbody. The referee races to count the South African’s shoulders...

2... GABRIEL KICKS OUT EARLY!

Kingston doesn’t fret at the near fall and instead attempts to pick up the pace once again but as he bounces off the ropes Heath Slater tugs on one of Kofi’s dreadlocks while the referee checks on Gabriel. The former Intercontinental Champion takes a swing at the One Man Rock Band but Heath leaps from the apron and lands on the outside and just narrowly avoids a punch to the mug. Kofi looks pissed and turns around to check on his opponent- but he is cracked in the nose by a picture perfect dropkick from Justin Gabriel, the crowd groaning with the impact. Gabriel does not hesitate, lifts Kingston to his feet and follows up the dropkick with a crisp snap suplex before tagging in the other half of the WWE Tag Team Champions – Heath Slater. The redheaded stunner immediately stomps away at Kingston’s abdomen alongside his tag team partner the moment he steps through the ropes, and takes over with a number of elbow drops and a flurry of right hands to a downed Kofi’s head soon after. Wade Barrett watches on gleefully as Heath Slater whips Kofi into the ropes and swiftly takes him down with a back elbow to the mush. Slater follows up with a cover...

2... KOFI POWERS HIS SHOULDER UP AT THE TWO COUNT!

The moment Kingston lifts his shoulder off the match to himself alive, Slater transitions himself so he can grab Kingston into a side headlock, and all the better to keep the Ghanaian grounded. After around thirty seconds stuck in the hold, the crowd urging him to break it to take the greasy look of Slater’s face, Kingston battles back and lands a couple of hard shots to Heath’s stomach. It is all in vain however, as Slater halts his opponent’s momentum with a side knee to the gut before lifting him up and slamming him down to the canvas with a scoop slam. It would appear that a single movement is not being wasted by the Corre camp, because the slam sets up Justin Gabriel perfectly to nail a flipping senton to Kofi Kingston after he is tagged into the match again. Gabriel goes to eliminate Kingston with a hook of the leg...

2... KOFI JUST ESCAPES THE PINFALL ATTEMPT!

The crowd sigh with relief after Kofi just keeps himself alive once again but Barrett is growing increasingly frustrated that his ‘tag team specialists’ cannot put Kingston away. Gabriel quickly tags in Slater once more and the two drag Kofi to feet, each grab an arm and flung him back first into their corner, Kingston violently smashing into the covered steel turnbuckles. Now Slater tries once again for the pin but Kofi just flings a shoulder up at the last moment, the crowd and Kingston’s tag team partners surely believing it was over at that moment. Slater now takes the time to taunt Kofi, slapping the top of his head as he slowly gets to his feet, but as many would know; Slater isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed and it just gives Kofi the opening to deliver a jawbreaker to Heath; the Corre member stumbling backwards and almost into the clutches of Kane. Kingston can now see the opening to get to his partners and makes his way over to the friendly corner, ducks a wild clothesline from Slater and reaches out his hand to tag in – NO, SLATER JUST PULLS HIM BACK BY THE HAIR AND DELIVERS ONE OF HIS PATENTED NECKBREAKERS. Now Slater can see Kingston on the mat, his eyes vacant...

2... WHAT!? KOFI JUST SNEAKS A SHOULDER UP WITH MILISECONDS TO SPARE!

Slater does not taunt his opponent this time, he is still wearing a shocked look on his face, but drags him back to his corner and unleashes a flurry of stomps before tagging in Gabriel. The tag team champions look to be setting up another double team move as Slater whips Kingston into the ropes and as he comes rebounding back he takes out his leg in a tripping fashion sending the Ghanaian’s face into the canvas. Then, as Kofi raises his head slightly he is taken straight back down with a beautiful flipping neck breaker from the South Africa flyer, Justin Gabriel. The duo finishes the sequence off with a legdrop and elbow drop combination, which Gabriel immediately follows up by hooking both legs.

3... NO! KOFI BARELY KICKS OUT!

Gabriel cannot believe that Kofi won’t just stay down; the look on Justin’s face is priceless! One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions lifts Kofi to his feet and lazily throws Kofi towards his team’s corner- but Kofi uses the momentum to lash out and knock Heath Slater off the apron with a forearm smash, punching Barrett to the outside just a couple of seconds after! Gabriel charges at Kofi but Kingston pulls himself through the ropes and connects with a pendulum kick, sending Justin sprawling away. The crowd cheer on Kofi as only Justin Gabriel stands in his way of making it towards Kane or Big Show and he slowly makes his way to his corner, step by step seemingly taking a millennium. Gabriel woozily tries to get in Kingston’s way but the Ghanaian uses his last ounce of strength to leap over a bent over Gabriel and reveal a clean path towards the Big Show... he manages to take the last couple of steps towards his corner... AND TAG IN THE BIG SHOW!

A huge ovation for the Big Show as he finally receives a tag from Kofi Kingston, who is immobile lying on the apron, and enters the ring by walking over the top rope. Show comes out of the blocks firing as he drops Gabriel with a big clothesline, followed by another before launching the South African into one of the corners and hurling his entire girth at the turnbuckles, squashing Justin into them. A dazed Gabriel wanders out to the middle of the ring, but the punishment isn’t over just yet as Show rebounds off of the ropes and knocks Gabriel down with a giant shoulder block. Big Show calls for one of his signature finishing manoeuvres, the chokeslam, by raising his ham like right hand into the air and bellowing loudly and he receives a strong positive reaction from the crowd. Show reaches out to grab Gabriel around the throat but the South African ducks out of the way and retreats to his corner, neither man on his team looking confident at taking the tag. Big Show doesn’t care which Corre member he has to eliminate first and he charges at the corner where Gabriel is frozen still. The crowd let out a groan as Gabriel just gets a right boot up in time, hitting Big Show in what appears to be the eye as he stumbles backwards and lets out a cry of pain.

Justin Gabriel appears to have woken out of a trance and steps forward to tangle with Show but a slap on the back signifies that Heath Slater has tagged himself into the match. Gabriel tries to argue with Slater but Barrett, who has yet to even get into the match, orders him to step out on to the apron. With Big Show tending to his eye, Heath Slater takes advantage and leaps onto the giant’s back and attempts to lock in a sleeper hold. Heath does not manage to lock it in properly and Show easily flips him over his head and dumps him to the canvas. On the apron, a yelling match between Gabriel and Barrett causes the official to lose his concentration on the legal participants and focus upon the arguing Corre members. Kane, knowing his actions will hold no repercussions considering that the referee is not watching, grabs Slater by the throat and sends him crashing to the mat with a chokeslam. The crowd cheer loudly as Show waits for Slater to rise to his feet before smacking him in the cheek with his giant right hand. Kane cracks a rare smile on the apron as he watches his ‘friend’ drop his enormous girth down upon Slater in a cover and Show calls for the referee to make the count...

3!!! HEATH SLATER HAS BEEN ELIMINATED BY THE BIG SHOW!

A huge wall of sound is sent into the ring as the WWE Universe in Tampa go wild; just two more eliminations and Kofi, Kane and Show will be champions once more. Barrett and Gabriel put their petty arguing aside and look up to see two giants staring back, Kingston still lying hurt on the apron. Show then tags in the Big Red Machine and Barrett finally takes leadership, stepping in to the ring and facing off against Kane with a grim expression on his face considering he has a long way to go to hang on to the title he cherishes so much. The two legal men appear as if they are about to lock up but Barrett gets in first with a kick to the gut, doubling Kane over. The Intercontinental Champion then turns back and rebounds off the ropes, but walks right into a throat thrust from Kane. Two more big right hands to the chin follow before Kane grabs Wade around the throat and throws him into the corner, tagging in Big Show. After slowly making his entrance into the ring, Show pins the Englishman into the turnbuckles and unloads four big right hands to the gut. Some nice double teaming of their own here from Show and Kane as the Big Red Machine is tagged back in again and cracks Barrett in the nose with a big boot after Show irish whips the ‘leader’ of the Corre at his tag team partner. Kane then tries to eliminate Barrett with a cover...

2... NO! BARRETT KICKS OUT WITH TIME TO SPARE!

Kane doesn’t give time for Barrett to rest and uses impressive strength to lift Wade from the canvas into his grasp in perfect position for a sidewalk slam. But it is not to be as Barrett fires a couple of elbows to the side of Kane’s head and, once he has gained a stable base, unloads with right hands. A back suplex from Barrett puts Kane down on to the canvas and the Englishman turns to his only remaining partner and tags him in, mouthing something that couldn’t be picked up by the cameras. Justin Gabriel transitions from the apron straight to the top turnbuckle and waits, perched, for Kane to get to his feet and the moment he does the high flyer launches himself off the corner and connects with a missile dropkick. An audible ‘oooh’ from the live crowd can be heard as Gabriel crawls into the cover...

2... KANE JUST POWERS OUT!

Gabriel keeps at the Big Red Machine, including kicking him in the mouth as he raises his head off the canvas. Both Corre members try their hand in eliminating the big man after a number of tags, high impact moves and pinfalls but it is to no avail. And after another unsuccessful pinfall attempt, Gabriel nails a vicious spin kick to the side of a kneeling Kane’s skull before planting him with a textbook DDT. After Gabriel tries again for a pinfall and Kane is able power out before his shoulders can be counted down for a three, it seems as though Justin believes he is going to have to do something big to eliminate the Big Red Machine. With great difficulty, Gabriel drags Kane just a couple of feet towards the middle of the ring and walks towards the ropes, offering a quick glance at his tag team partner. Gabriel then uses the ropes to lift himself up and springboard off of them, moonsault style, and arches his body in the direction of the Kane AND HE MEETS NOTHING BUT CANVAS! Barrett screams for Gabriel to tag him in but the South African can only writhe in pain while Kane slowly rises to his feet in order to get himself out of the match for the time being by tagging in a fired up Big Show or a hurt and fatigued Kofi – wonder which one he is going to pick. Kane slowly edges himself over to his friendly corner, pain etched across his face and reaches out a huge gloved hand at his long time ‘friend’... BUT GABRIEL GRABS ON TO THE BACK OF HIS TIGHTS AND ATTEMPTS TO PULL HIM BACK! Kane throws a wide elbow to his side and manages to connect, sending Gabriel sprawling to the mat. Although it appeared that Kane would be going for the tag, a weak Gabriel is too much for the monster to give up and he charges at the Corre member, who is resting against the ropes with a blank expression on his features. The crowd cheer on Kane as he lifts his leg up and goes for his patented big boot to the head but Gabriel ducks and avoids the contact, the Big Red Machine crotching himself on the top rope! The majority of the men in the crowd feel Kane’s pain as the noise in the arena jumps up, meanwhile Gabriel has made the tag to his stable mate and Wade Barrett drags a stunned Kane off of the ropes and lifts him onto his shoulders. The announce desk know what is coming next, Michael Cole screaming out with excitement as Barrett hits the Wasteland, covering the leg soon after...

3!!! IT’S ACADEMIC, KANE HAS BEEN ELIMINATED!

The shadow of a grin begins to appear on Barrett’s face but it doesn’t last long as the Big Show rushes into the ring and clubs the Englishman in the back with a sharp shot. Show then unceremoniously lifts Barrett to his feet, shoves him in to a corner and unloads a pair of big shots to the ribs before a slap to the chest was delivered that could be heard around the arena, even in the cheap seats! The Corre member is then lifted high into the air and sent crashing back down onto the canvas with a giant sized scoop slam. Show waits for Wade to rise with a determined look on his face and once they are standing toe to toe, the giant unleashes a heavy right hand aimed directly at his adversary’s noggin. Barrett just avoids the danger that eliminated Heath Slater earlier and unloads three stiff shots to Show’s head before turning back to rebound off the ropes and deliver a- SHOW FIRES BACK WITH A DEVASTATING SPEAR! Barrett rolls around on the mat writhing in pain and appears to be struggling to breathe and Show seemingly believes that this will be the chance to take out the Englishman from this match...

2... BARRETT JUST ESCAPES FROM THAT ONE!

Show doesn’t have time to continue his offence on a downed Barrett as he spots Justin Gabriel perched on the top rope. The South African launches his body at the giant, looking to take him down but he is swatted away like a fly by a stinging slap from Show, sending Gabriel under the bottom rope and to the outside! With Barrett still trying to recover from the spear, Show lifts him to his feet by his throat but a swift slap to his cheek causes him to lose his grip! Wait up! Barrett just slapped the taste out of the Big Show’s mouth! Before Show even has time to comprehend the disrespect that Barrett has bestowed upon him, the Englishman flees to the outside, Big Show in hot pursuit! Wade sprints around the outside of the squared circle, turns around the ring post and slides back into the ring, albeit ninety degrees from where he first escaped. The giant traces the Corre member’s steps but as he attempts to turn the sharp corner and grab a hold of Barrett before he can dive under the ropes, he appears to slip and go face first into the steel ring post! The entire ring shook with that impact and Show is still face down on the floor and barely moving, but the reason for Show’s ‘accident’ is quickly revealed on the replay. As Show began to turn the corner, Justin Gabriel, who was hidden behind the apron, took the opportunity presented to him by his stable mate and took out the giant’s knee with a swift dropkick. Barrett cannot believe his luck as he watches the referee begin the count with a devilish smile on his face...

3... FINALLY THE GIANT BEGINS TO MOVE, ALBEIT IT ONLY HIS FINGERS TWITCHING SLIGHTLY!

7... SHOW WILLS HIMSELF ON TO HIS KNEES WITH THE CROWD’S SUPPORT, HIS NOSE TRICKLING BLOOD!

9...THE GIANT ATTEMPTS TO DRAG HIMSELF BACK INTO THE RING BY PULLING ON THE BOTTOM ROPE AND HE IS ALMOST THERE...

10! BUT HE CAN’T DO IT, THE BIG SHOW HAS BEEN COUNTED OUT, WHAT A TURNAROUND BY THE CORRE!

Once the referee has officially eliminated Show, Wade Barrett turns his attention to the opposite side of the ring where Kofi Kingston is standing. The Dreadlocked Dynamo enters the ring by stepping through the ropes, not taking his eyes off of Barrett for a single moment. The Englishman lets out a little chuckle at the sorry state of a limping Kofi Kingston but that arrogance would bite him in the ass as Kingston soon took him down to the mat and began unloading shot after shot to the man who has been making his life a living hell ever since he arrived on Smackdown. The referee breaks the pair up but Kingston goes straight back to work with a sharp forearm shot to the face of Barrett, not once but twice the moment he gains a stable base. The Englishman quickly tags out to his partner the moment he can; but Gabriel doesn’t have any more luck than Barrett as the Ghanaian unleashes three double handed chops to the South African’s chest, knocking him to the mat each time. A jumping clothesline sends Justin down to the mat, in perfect position for the Boom Drop, which Kingston sets up for accordingly with his usual theatrics and with the crowd cheering Kofi on he hits it! Kingston now gets the crowd clapping along with him as he waits for Gabriel to get up, Kofi sprinting in at Justin but mistiming the Trouble in Paradise kick, allowing the South African to roll towards his corner and tag in his remaining partner. Kofi tries to keep his momentum rolling but he eats a big boot as Barrett charges in, the Englishman now trying to end it then and there...

2... KOFI HAS BEATEN THE COUNT, JUST!

Barrett looks a little desperate as he lifts Kofi up to his shoulders, wanting to put him away with the Wasteland, but Kofi struggles with everything he has and after a few anxious moments for the live crowd, Kofi slips out and hurricanranas Barrett straight into the corner of the Corre. Kofi momentarily turns his back to the adversary, Gabriel making a blind tag to Barrett’s back as he rests in the corner, and sprints as Wade with that usual Ghanaian fire in his eyes he displays every Friday night. However, Wade dodges out of the way, Kofi crashing into the corner and Barrett cracks him in the neck with a clothesline immediately after. The whole crowd begins to boo as they notice Gabriel on the top rope, the South African hesitates for a few moments before launching into the air and turning his body around 450 degrees – BUT KOFI ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY, GABRIEL CRASHING INTO THE CANVAS! As quickly as he can, Kofi sets up for the impactful SOS manoeuvre and after a bit of struggling, he connects, Kofi transitioning straight into a pinfall attempt...

3... NOT YET! BARRETT BREAKS UP THE PINFALL!

Heat rains down on Barrett as he slowly makes his way back to his corner but Kofi isn’t going to let him off that easily, hunting him down and cracking him with punches in every possible part of the Englishman’s body. Wade uses his strength to push Kofi off of him momentarily and takes a short run up before throwing his arm up and running at Kofi for a lariat... but Kofi ducks and the impact connects with Justin Gabriel! Barrett goes wide eyed and cannot believe he struck his own stable mate, but that thought doesn’t last long as he is dropkicked through the ropes and out of the ring, ending up sprawled on the outside. A woozy Gabriel staggers into the middle of the ring and Kofi doesn’t waste this opportunity as he strikes with the Trouble in Paradise kick, that beautiful yet deadly kick has Gabriel on his back, Kofi hooks both legs...

3!!! JUSTIN GABRIEL HAS BEEN ELIMINATED BY KOFI KINGSTON!

Kingston lifts his battered and bruised body off the mat once again, the WWE Universe cheering him on every step he takes. As Justin Gabriel rolls out of the ring, Kofi spots Wade Barrett slowly making his way in to the ring and sprints back off the ropes and looks to be going for a dive to the outside but it is not to be as Barrett was playing possum, the moment Kofi turned his back the Englishman charged into the squared circle and caught the charging Ghanaian with a spinning side slam! This has to be it...

2... NO! THE REFEREE SAYS IT WAS ONLY A TWO COUNT!

Barrett, surprisingly, doesn’t even argue the near count with the official but instead peels Kofi off the canvas and raises him to his shoulders, everybody knowing what comes next. But just as it looked as if Barrett was going to slam Kofi down hard to the mat, Kofi struggles with everything he has left and after around ten seconds of struggling it pays off as Barrett loses control, Kofi slipping from his grasp. However, Barrett’s slip incidentally causes Kofi’s wrestling boots to crash into the temple of the referee, knocking him down. Barrett still seems fine as he rises to his feet but a swift Trouble in Paradise to the side of his head causes him to drop like a sack of potatoes! Barrett is almost out cold on the canvas, unluckily for Kofi the referee is incapacitated but Kingston is in no state to go for a cover anyway. As both competitors are perfectly still in the middle of the ring it seems odd that the crowd would unleash any kind of reaction, but it soon becomes clear why because Ezekiel Jackson is walking towards the ring. Barrett starts to stir as the giant Corre enforcer walks up the steel steps and enters the squared circle, pulling Barrett to his feet once he reaches the practically prone Englishman. The monster from Guyana has plenty to say to the loopy Barrett and after a few more words, ‘Zeke steps back and leans on the ropes. The big man then closes his eyes momentarily, opens them and charges at Barrett with a bloodcurdling cry - BUT BARRETT AVOIDS THE DANGER AND JACKSON PLOUGHS THROUGH KOFI KINGSTON INSTEAD! With the referee still down for the count, Barrett low blows Jackson and dumps him out of the ring before turning his attention back to Kingston. All the referee saw since he woke up from his daze was Barrett lifting Kingston to his feet, placing him on his shoulders and driving him straight down to the canvas with the devastating Wasteland. Is this it for the courageous Ghanaian...

Barrett doesn’t stick around to gloat in the ring and tries to walk as fast as he can up the ramp and on to the stage where Slater and Gabriel are waiting for him – ecstatic that the Englishman pulled through in the end.

Michael Cole: Wade Barrett endured a tonne of punishment and in the end it paid off as he retains the Intercontinental Championship.

Chad Patton, the assigned official for this United States Championship bout rings the bell and we are underway. Sin Cara waves his arms and gets the crowd behind him as the more powerful Sheamus looks on. The two men begin circling the ring before locking up. This doesn’t last long as Sheamus just shoves Sin Cara, who goes flying into the ring ropes. Sin Cara shakes it off as Sheamus points at laughs at Sin Cara’s smaller frame. Sin Cara gets off and dusts off the attack. They go for another lockup, but Sin Cara dodges out of the way and nails Sheamus in the back of the leg with a huge kick that thuds throughout the St. Pete Times Forum. Sheamus grabs at his leg and Sin Cara nails Sheamus with a kick to the other leg. Sheamus is bouncing around before Sin Cara nails a dropkick to Sheamus’ back that sends him out of the ring. Sheamus pops right up and shows his frustration by slamming the apron and pulling on the ring skirt. Sheamus takes a breather while wandering around the outside. Sin Cara goes for an aerial attack, but bounces off the ropes after Sheamus is quick to dodge out of the way. Sheamus hops onto the apron and demands Patton hold Sin Cara back. Patton obliges and keeps Sin Cara away while Sheamus reenters the ring. Sheamus wants a test of strength as Sin Cara looks on. The crowd is behind him going for the chance. Sin Cara is hesitant as he goes to lock hands with Sheamus, but the Celtic Warrior is all games as he nails Sin Cara in the midsection with a boot and follows that up with an elbow shot to the neck that puts the Masked Sensation on the mat. With ease Sheamus lifts up Sin Cara and powerfully throws him into an adjacent turnbuckle. Sheamus charges and nails Sin Cara with a huge body splash, causing the Masked Sensation to fall face first on the mat. Sheamus holds his arms out and yells at the crowd, garnering heat for his nonchalant actions. Sheamus again lifts Sin Cara up on the mat and places him on the top rope in a seated position. Sheamus seems to be going out of his element as he climbs up to the middle rope and goes for a superplex. Sin Cara holds on to the top rope, in effect blocking the maneuver. Sheamus tries again, but Sin Cara blocks it. Sin Cara now gets in some offense with a headbutt followed by three consecutive right hands that sends the Celtic Warrior off the ropes and to the mat. Sin Cara shakes off the cobwebs and stands up on the ropes. Sheamus is a little stunned as he gets up and turns around and is nailed with a huge flying crossbody from Sin Cara. Sin Cara lands the move so perfectly that it goes right into a pinfall and Chad Patton is right on the spot for the count.

Sin Cara is right up after the near fall and he greets Sheamus, who is just sitting up with a kick across the chest. Sheamus screams as you can see a red swelling forming in the area of the kick. Sin Cara waits for Sheamus to rise. Sheamus is nearly up and Sin Cara takes off and goes for a Hurricanrana. Sin Cara tries to follow through, but Sheamus locks onto Sin Cara and tosses him to the outside. Sin Cara lands hard on the outside and the crowd sighs as Sin Cara looks to be hurt. Sheamus shakes off the previous attacks from Sin Cara as he heads out of the ring. Sheamus finally goes for a cover on Sin Cara, who hasn’t budged since Sheamus threw him to the outside.

Sheamus glares at Patton, as he expected a three count. Sheamus begins to drive his right knee into the side of Sin Cara’s head. Sin Cara tries to protect himself, but it seems to do no good as Sheamus just keeps the attacks coming. Sheamus finally lays off and again covers Sin Cara.

Sheamus again glares at Patton, as he is still unhappy with the pace of his counts. Sheamus lifts Sin Cara up and flips him into the security wall. Sheamus means all business right now as he again picks up Sin Cara and throws him into the ring apron. Sin Cara is clearly in pain as Sheamus puts him up on his shoulder and goes to ram him into the steel post. Sin Cara manages to slide off the back of the Celtic Warrior and shove him into the steel post in the process. Sheamus smashes head first into the post and his body freezes up as it slides down said ring post. A trickle of blood can be seen on the forehead of the Celtic Warrior and you can see his eyes are glazed over. Patton checks on Sheamus’ condition as Sin Cara grabs Sheamus and smacks his head onto the top of the security wall. Sin Cara continues to drag Sheamus and the two men work their way up the entrance ramp. Sheamus tries to get back in the match with an elbow to the sternum of Sin Cara. Sin Cara releases Sheamus as Sheamus regains his composure as he is halfway up the entrance ramp. Sheamus turns around and goes for a Brogue Kick, but Sin Cara ducks out of the way. Sin Cara runs down at Sheamus and goes for a Hurricanrana, but Sheamus doesn’t allow the follow through. Sheamus keeps hold of Sin Cara and gets him in position for the High Cross, but Sin Cara wriggles out and rolls Sheamus up.

Sheamus powers out of the roll up and both men jump right to their feet. Sheamus goes for the Irish Hammer, but Sin Cara rolls out of the way. Sin Cara now jumps on top of the security wall and dives off it at Sheamus. However Sheamus catches Sin Cara and drops him with a devastating Irish Curse Backbreaker. Sin Cara writhers in pain as Sheamus looks around at the audience and signals it is over as he makes the cover.

Sheamus can’t believe that didn’t end the match as he lifts Sin Cara up and throws him into the steel stairs. Sheamus immediately bolts towards Sin Cara, but Sin Cara dashes out of the way and Sheamus crashes and flips over the steel stairs. The Tampa crowd is starting to get behind the Masked Sensation. Sin Cara rolls back into the ring and bounces around, feeling the energy of the crowd. Sin Cara sees Sheamus staggering to his feet and he takes off and flips over the top rope and crashes down onto the Celtic Warrior. Sin Cara is the first to his feet as he holds his back and the crowd chants his name. The Masked Sensation pulls himself onto the apron and he stalks Sheamus from above. Sheamus with the aid of the ring manages to get back to his feet. Sin Cara gets a running start and goes for another Hurricanrana, but Sheamus catches him and throws him over the security wall and into the paid audience. No one in the audience seems to be hurt as Sin Cara is sprawled out amongst a handful of the WWE Universe. Sheamus taunts and poses to the crowd which garners mostly heat from the Tampa crowd, but some Sheamus fans are clearly in the house. Sheamus steps over the barricade and makes his way towards Sin Cara. Sheamus grabs Sin Cara out of the mob of fans and they make their way through the audience with Sheamus hitting lefts and rights on the way. The two men have made their way across the aisle and are over by the announce tables. Sheamus lifts Sin Cara up over his head and throws Sin Cara over the barricade and the Masked Sensation crashes down rib first onto the Spanish announce table. The table remains intact as the Spanish announce team retreats. Sheamus hops over the wall and begins to disassemble the Spanish table. Sheamus has a demonic smirk on his face as he clears the table and readies it for damage. Sheamus waves his arms as he puts Sin Cara’s head between his legs. Sheamus holds his arms out and lifts Sin Cara up, but Sin Cara slides down from the High Cross and lands on top of the security wall. Sheamus turns around and is nailed with a kick square to his temple. Sin Cara is still perched on top of the security wall and it looks as if he is poised for a high risk move. Sin Cara goes for the leap, but Sheamus shoves the Masked Sensation off the barricade and into the fans. Sheamus steps over the barricade, but is stopped halfway after getting hit with a headshot courtesy of a Sin Cara elbow. Sin Cara gets himself straddled over the barricade, just like Sheamus and the two men start to go back and forth with right hands. Sheamus gains the edge in the fist fight and tries to stand on top of the barricade. Sheamus is on wobbly legs and Sin Cara takes advantage with a huge right, which sends Sheamus back into a straddled position. Sin Cara now stands himself on top of the barricade and nails a woozy Sheamus with a huge kick to the head. Sheamus remains on the barricade, but looks stunned as he lies on his back. Sin Cara repositions himself on top of the security wall and tries to lift Sheamus’ motionless body. Sin Cara has Sheamus standing along with him on the barricade and he has him in position to execute his patented Moonsault Slam. The crowd has their eyes glued as Sin Cara flips back and him and Sheamus crash through the Spanish announce table. The crowd is buzzing as a “holy shit” chant begins to rain throughout the St. Pete Times Forum. Chad Patton checks on the condition of both Sin Cara and Sheamus as they lay motionless in the rubble of the Spanish table. Sin Cara begins to stir as he slowly crawls towards Sheamus and drapes his arm over the Celtic Warrior’s chest.

Booker T-That right there was crazy. What a phenomenal finish and Sin Cara just continues to be a house of fire early on in his career. This guy is gonna be a star, tonight proved that.

Michael Cole-You’ve got to be kidding me! Sin Cara is punk and no way deserves to mentioned with the names involved with the prestige of the United States Championship. This is an outrage!

Booker T-Why you always gotta be hatin’ Cole. Sin Cara is a rising star, just deal with it man. There is no telling how far this man will go.

A busy, dark street is shown from a view behind the shoulders of two men, one with scraggly blonde hair and the other sporting shorter, darker hairstyle. As the duo walk down the sidewalk, a number of ‘evil’ images can be seen occurring to the side of the camera shot. A very soft ‘super hero’ like music plays for a few moments before the first man, the blonde one, begins to speak as he walks...

Man #1: The world is not a bad place.

A man can be seen sprawled on the pavement, two thugs beating away at him.

Man #1: It’s the people who inhabit it that make it the way it is.

As the duo walk past the unfair beating, the incident disappears, the area in which it was occurring looking slightly ‘cleaner’ the moment it does.

Man #2: Greed, cowardice, pride.

A rough looking woman grabs a wad of cash from a downed elderly man, his hands shaking as the thief takes off with the loot.

Man #2: It is rife around the globe, almost every corner infested with evil.

Again, as the two men waltz past the crime, both the victim and the criminal vanish, leaving a much better looking environment behind.

Man #1: We may not have super powers...

A homeless man, complete with a long unkempt beard and tattered clothes, is brushed past by a snooty looking gentleman in a suit.

Man #1: But that doesn’t matter.

Once more, the two contrasting men disappear as the protagonists waltz past. The two men have now exited the sidewalk and wandered in to a dark tunnel.

Man #2: We don’t have X-ray vision.

They continue walking through the tunnel.

Man #1: We can’t punch through a brick wall.

The duo are still walking, a light at the end of the tunnel getting closer and closer.

Man #2: We can’t stretch our bodies to incredible lengths.

The two men have reached the end of the tunnel and push through a curtain, walking out on to an arena stage. Every single seat is empty but the duo continues down the ramp, their focus fixed on the ring, the apron laced with blue.

Man #1: We can’t fly...

The pair slides under the bottom rope and stand together in the middle of the ring, their faces still hidden as the camera stays fixated behind the duo.

Man #1: Okay, maybe I was lying about that last one.

The two men stand still in the ring, their hands on their hips.

Man #2: But we stand for everything that a superhero does.

Man #1: The WWE is in need of saving...

Both: And we are just the two men to do it.

The two men finally turn around and reveal themselves to be BRIAN KENDRICK AND PAUL LONDON! Both London and Kendrick remain standing with their hands on their hips, noble looks on their faces as the video package fades to black.

After that very special video package, the camera returns to the announce desk where Cole, Matthews and Booker T are waiting to update the home viewers.

Booker T: Looks like Smackdown is going to have a couple of new superstars...

Josh Matthews: Ladies and gentleman we have already witnessed a great deal of extreme action, including the crowning of a new champion, but I can assure you that the best is yet to come. Randy Orton and CM Punk have partaken in an incredibly personal and brutal rivalry which has spanned a number of months; here is a special look at that-

CHECK, ONE TWO... OH YEAH!

Before he can continue Josh Matthews is cut off by a man that is not even scheduled to appear in the All American American Jack Swagger. With a arrogant smirk on his face, Swagger strolls down the ramp, ignoring each and every fan as he goes, before charging up the steel steps and through the ropes.

Booker T: Jack Swagger? Why is he even out here right now? He doesn’t have a match for tonight!

Michael Cole: Of course he doesn’t have a match tonight Book and it’s not Jack’s fault, it’s because of Teddy Long. The man doesn’t give Swagger, a former World Heavyweight Champion no less, the chance to display his talents.

The crowd boo wildly as Swagger grabs a microphone from Justin Roberts and stands in the centre of the ring, the Oklahoman native doesn’t seem too happy but the arrogant smirk remains. Booker then comments that it must be permanently affixed to his face as Swagger is not a happy camper tonight; there is no reason for him to be ‘smiling’. Swagger adjusts his wrestling singlet slightly, cut in red for tonight, before raising the microphone to his lips.

Jack Swagger: I wouldn’t normally come out here like this but I could not sit in the back and watch my beloved fans not getting their money’s worth tonight.

Heat for Swagger as the fans are anything but loving towards him.

Jack Swagger: You would think that a general manager would see something wrong with a former World Heavyweight Champion not competing tonight at Extreme Rules, but not Teddy Long. A man with the background and the pedigree that I possess should be competing for the world championship let alone having a match on the pay-per-view but such is the management style of the Smackdown General Manager that this is not the reality. Theodore Long should be kissing the ground I walk on but instead an icy shoulder is all I receive every time I try to discuss important matters with Teddy, matters such as making tonight’s ladder match a triple threat including yours truly.

The crowd unleash boos upon Swagger, definitely not wanting to see that match happen.

Jack Swagger: And of course Teddy did not want to make that happen.

A big pop for that line.

Jack Swagger: It is almost as if Teddy Long does not even want me competing, and of course winning, on his brand. But don’t think that is going to upset me, it doesn’t even faze me slightly. If Teddy doesn’t want me on Smackdown, I don’t care because I don’t want to be on Smackdown anyway. I am hardly featured on the show and when I am it is ruined by horrible management and shoddy officiating. The brand is beneath me and I hope with every essence of my being that tomorrow tonight I am drafted to Monday Night RAW, the brand of champions and the place that I belong-

A respectable pop for the Smackdown General Manager as he rushes out on to the stage, complete with snappy suit and microphone in hand.

Theodore Long: Hold up, hold up, I’m going to stop you right there playa’!

Theodore long: Let me set the record straight; there has been nothing personal about my decisions regarding you Jack, there has just been so much happening on Smackdown that including everybody on the roster each and every week, to a standard you insist, is impossible. But I am getting really fed up with your complaining!

Huge pop for the GM.

Theodore Long: Now Jack, you have been very outspoken about your supposed hate for Smackdown for a number of weeks now. But let’s see if you really believe everything that comes out of your big mouth. I have set up a match for you right now-

Jack Swagger: Great, finally, thank-you Teddy!

Teddy doesn’t take to kindly to Swagger’s sarcastic tone.

Theodore Long: You didn’t let me finish. If you lose the match I will terminate your contract on-

A big pop, but it doesn’t last for long as Swagger interrupts his boss.

Jack Swagger: You finally understand Teddy! So what, you want me to purposefully lose to make your next big star look good by beating a former World Heavyweight Champion.

Theodore Long: Whoa, not so fast Mr. Swagger. If you lose your match up next I will terminate your contract.

Jack Swagger: Yes I kn-

Theodore Long: But don’t be so sure that RAW is going to want to sign you straight up, they have a roster full of world class superstars and you didn’t quite make a great impression on the Anonymous RAW General Manager the last time you where on RAW. So if you want to take the risk, go ahead Jack!

A giant pop, and Swagger’s confidence has quickly evaporated in a matter of moments after realizing that Teddy is right.

Theodore Long: So without further ado, here is your opponent for tonight-

A giant cheer goes up for Chris Masters as he trots out on to the stage and offers a quick hand shake to his general manager. It appears as though Masters only just been told that he was going to have to compete here at Extreme Rules, as he finishes a couple of last minute warm ups while he waits for Teddy to finish talking.

Theodore Long: Oh and to keep with tonight’s theme, the following is a no disqualification match!

A giant pop for the general manager’s announcement and just as Swagger tosses his microphone to the outside of the ring; Masters is steadily making his way down the ramp.

Michael Cole: This is ridiculous! How can you treat an athlete the calibre of Jack Swagger like this? He could lose his job here, his whole profession down the tube.

Booker T: It’s entirely his own fault.

Josh Matthews: That’s right Book and even if Swagger loses this match and his job on Smackdown, wasn’t he just bragging that RAW would sign him up straight away?

Michael Cole: It’s not that, it’s just that Teddy is blatantly abusing his power as an authority figure.

Josh Matthews: Oh please Cole. You could be saying goodbye to your former trainer very soon as Masters has been on quite a role since Wrestlemania and defeating Swagger would be just another flag in his cap.

Masters stops just a few feet shy of the ring apron and stares up at Swagger, the All American American not looking very confident, and points at him before charging into the ring. Due to the rules, this is all the referee needs to begin the action and rings the bell with gusto...

Impromptu No Disqualification Match
Jack Swagger vs. Chris Masters

Once he enters the squared circle the Masterpiece immediately tackles Swagger to the mat and begins launching punch after punch, mauling the former world champion like a rabid dog. Masters then drags Swagger off the mat by his platinum hair and slams him face first into a turnbuckle corner, knocking him silly. Masters repeats this action at another turnbuckle, then another and finishes off by slamming Swagger’s face into the fourth and final turnbuckle before releasing his grip, Swagger dropping to the mat soon after. Masters receives a giant pop as he bellows towards the crowd before rebounding off the ropes and colliding with Swagger in the middle of the ring with his shoulder, Chris going straight into a pin...

2... SWAGGER EASILY POWERS OUT AT THE TWO COUNT!

Both men rise quickly, trying to gain the advantage but it is the Masterpiece who does and the chiselled machine from Los Angeles lets off a pair of right hands at his opponents head before tacking Jack down with a sharp clothesline. A short run up is all Masters needs for hit another big clothesline before whipping Swagger into the ropes and as Jack comes sprinting back he is grabbed and hurled into the air with a back body drop. What comes up most definitely must come down and the All American American does with a bang, hitting the canvas hard and he squirms on the canvas for a few moments before heading for a reprieve in the corner. Jack pulls himself on to his feet and breathes heavily, his back resting against the turnbuckles. Masters measures Swagger in the corner and sprints right at his opponent, launching himself into the air, looking to emulate a certain ‘stinging’ manoeuvre – but Swagger dodges out of the way just in time. Masters goes flying into the top buckle and has the air driven out of his chest and as Swagger rises up the Oklahoman drops his knees and then powers up, lifting Masters up and hot shotting him off the top rope! With Masters gasping for air Swagger’s amateur background kicks in, the former champion applying a tight headlock on his opponent before rolling around on the mat with Masters like an alligator with its wounded prey. With Masters on his back Swagger rolls horizontally over his adversary’s spine and transitions right into an ankle lock, the ankle lock has been synched in by Swagger! Masters is able to use his impressive strength to hurl Swagger off of his ankle and break the hold, the big man getting up and sprinting at his opponent with a clothesline in mind but he is taken down with by a great technical move from Swagger, grounding Masters once again.

Swagger rises to his feet and stomps away at the ankle he targeted just moments ago with his signature submission move. Realising that Masters hasn’t been worked on enough to slap on the painful, yet quite breakable, ankle lock Swagger places his knee on the back of Chris’ knee and wrenches back. The Masterpiece screams out in pain but Swagger just increases the pressure on his opponent’s leg and keeps it that way for a few moments. Growing frustrated that Masters refuses to submit; Swagger lifts Masters to his feet but only receives a pair of punches to the bridge of the nose. Jack quickly stops that momentum with a sharp kick to the hurt knee of Masters before scooping him up and slamming him down on the canvas with severe force. The crowd heavily boo Swagger as he backs away from Masters with his hands raised arrogantly in the air. With his face totally focused Swagger sprints at Masters, who is lying on the canvas, hops over his body, springboards off the ropes and lands on his opponent’s right leg, driving it into the mat. Swagger now sees if that is enough to put away Masters...

2... MASTERS KICKS OUT WITH A BIT OF TIME TO SPARE!

Swagger punches the canvas in frustration and asks the referee if that truly was a two count and not a mistake. After receiving a stern ‘yes’, Swagger backs up once again and scouts out Masters, who is grimacing in pain just near the bottom turnbuckle. Once again, Swagger charges at the Masterpiece, pushes off the corner once he reaches it and spreads his body out to its capacity in order to land on top of his adversary’s knee and ankle. Again, Swagger hooks the outside leg...

2... NO! MASTERS RELIES ON HIS UPPER BODY STRENGTH TO BREAK THE COUNT!

The All American American yelps in frustration after Masters finds a way to kick out and instead of a petty comment, this time Swagger fully abuses the official by getting in his face and yelling stuff that can’t be picked up by the cameras. The WWE Universe in Tamp unleash their own abuse at Swagger but he ignores their boos and jeers and sets up in a corner, opposite the downed Masters, for a third time. Jack notices Masters trying to pull himself off the mat so the former world champion charges at the corner but NOT BEFORE MASTERS HAULS HIMSLEF UNTO HIS FEET AND DELIVERS A SHATTERING SPINEBUSTER! The crowd pops loudly as they just witnessed Masters lift his body off the canvas, practically on one foot, in an impressive burst of power before he lifted Swagger up and cracked his spine on to the pine of the ring before dropping down to the mat himself. Although he took Swagger down with a huge spinebuster, the Masterpiece cannot immediately take advantage but after a few moments of dragging his body he arrives at a downed, stunned Swagger and drapes his arm over his adversary’s shoulder...

2... THE REFEREE SIGNALS THAT IT WAS JUST A TWO COUNT!

Both men rise together as one due to the fact that they are holding one another from falling and it is Masters who strikes first, lashing out with his good leg in an attempt to kick Swagger in the gut. Swagger just catches the kick and holds on to it as he strikes Masters’ other knee with his heel, sending him sprawling down to the canvas. Swagger then goes to rebound off the ropes and comes charging back at his opponent but is caught and lifted to Masters’ side, the Los Angeles native ‘breaking’ Jack’s back on his knee before reloading and connecting with a side walk slam! The crowd cheer for Masters to get to his feet first and as he does he grabs Swagger by the arm and throws him into a corner, sprinting right after him and delivering a clothesline the instant Jack’s back touched the turnbuckle. The Oklahoman stumbles out of the corner and drops to a knee, meanwhile Masters jumps on to the second rope and as his opponent runs around to face him he leaps forwards and drops Swagger with a flying shoulder block. The Masterpiece hooks a leg, is Swagger going to be forced to leave Smackdown...

2... SWAGGER JUST LIFTS A SHOULDER UP!

Masters claps his hands high over his head in anticipation for the Masterlock with the crowd going nuts and Cole urging Swagger not to idly get to his feet. Swagger does manage to follow Cole’s advice because the moment Masters lays a finger on Jack’s shoulders, he swivels on his ankles and locks his own arms around Masters’ ribs, hitting his own variation of a belly-to-belly suplex. Masters is rocked slightly by the suplex and offers no resistance as Swagger lifts him to his feet in a gutwrench position, the All American American looking to put his opponent away with his patented powerbomb as he lifts Masters into the air. The Masterpiece just manages to slide out of Jack’s grasp and float over the top of his shoulder but Chris lands on his bad ankle, causing him to drop to a knee with a huge grimace on his face, Swagger then taking full advantage by booting Masters in the face, causing him to go falling through the ropes and to the outside. Jack follows him out and pushes him against the barricade, unloading a right hand to his opponent’s face before grabbing him by the back of the head and glancing towards the steel ring post. The sturdy post seems to be where Swagger wants to shove Masters into and the All American American charges at the steel with the Masterpiece in hand. But Masters puts the brakes on and shoves Swagger into the barricade instead before hurling him back under the ropes and into the ring. Swagger tries to gain a quick advantage over his opponent as Masters slides into the ring but the match has taken its toll and a fatigued former All American is drilled into the canvas with a big Samoan drop instead. Swagger could be done here...

3... WAIT NO! SWAGGER HAS ESCAPED; THE REFEREE SAYS THAT THE MATCH IS TO CONTINUE!

Masters makes his way to his feet first, panting heavily, and as soon as Swagger is up he is taken straight back down with a clothesline. Jack eats another clothesline but manages to avoid a wild elbow from Masters before stepping right into a big hammer to the chest from the Masterpiece. A dazed Swagger wonders right towards Masters, Chris executing a beautiful go-behind before locking his arms around his adversary’s shoulders – trying to lock in the Masterlock! Swagger is fighting with everything he has left so that he doesn’t fall victim to the dreaded submission hold, swinging his right arm madly to escape. Masters doesn’t lose his cool however and notices Swagger has left his whole left side exposed, and turns the attempted Masterlock into another move; a half nelson slam. Swagger goes crashing down into the canvas and Masters follows him down and shoots the half...

2... SWAGGER STILL HAS SOME LIFE LEFT!

Now it is Masters turn to be frustrated as he slams the mat in annoyance and it would turn out to cost him dearly as it gave time for Swagger to recover and kick out at Chris’ knee, giving time for the former champion to stand up without resistance. Jack then clubs Masters over the back and lifts him over his shoulder before running and slamming him back first into a corner. Cole cheers on Swagger as he turns around and faces the middle of the ring, the crowd booing hardily as they know what is going to happen next, a move that would leave Masters vulnerable for more damage – the Oklahoma stampede. The All American American sprints forward and looks to slam his opponent to the mat with severe power but Masters slides out the back and attempts to lock in the Masterlock. But once again, Swagger has the move well scouted as Chris can hardly touch his shoulders before he drops down, forcing Masters to fall down with him and smash his face into the canvas, rolls around and transitions into the ankle lock! Masters writhes and struggles in pain on the mat, and the referee asks him whether he wants to give up, whether he wants to submit. After several moments of intense pain, Masters crawls on his fists and, quick as a flash, rolls forwards onto his back and due to his impressive strength he rolls Swagger over as well, catching him in a victory roll of sorts...

2... SWAGGER IS FORCED TO RELEASE HIS ADVERSARY’S ANKLE IN ORDER TO KICK OUT!

On his knees, Swagger pulls his face out of the scrum with a relieved look upon it but it quickly disappears as his eyes go wide. We find out way very quickly – Masters has the Masterlock synched in! Both men were on their knees but the Masterpiece now lifts Jack to his feet and swings him wildly from side to side, trying to make him either tap out or pass out. Swagger just cannot break the hold no matter how hard he tries and even after ramming Masters back first into a corner a couple of times he is unsuccessful in escaping. The light behind Swagger’s eyes starts to fade and the crowd can sense a victory for Chris as the All American American’s entire body starts to deflate under the massive pressure put on his neck, forcing his chin to dig into his chest. Just as it looked like the official was to rule Swagger out of the match, Jack used the last ounce of energy in his body to hurl himself, with Masters clinging on, through the ropes and crashing down to the outside. There is a distinct lack of movement for a few moments before Swagger rises – to have Masters still on his case, the Masterlock still synched in! The former world champion tries to break out of the hold using his arms but everyone, including Swagger, knows that isn’t going to happen. Swagger looks incredibly desperate and after a few more moments in the submission hold he hits a swift back kick to the groin of Masters! Chris Masters crumples after the low-blow and this allows Swagger to seek reprieve over near the timekeeper and he uses the time to recover from the Masterlock by draping himself over the timekeepers’ desk. After around twenty seconds of a lack of contact between both competitors, Masters slowly makes his way towards Swagger with a mixture of pain and anger upon his face. The Masterpiece grabs Swagger by his amateur wrestling type attire and raises his right hand in payback for the previous cheap sho- BUT MASTERS IS CRACKED IN THE KNEE WITH A STEEL CHAIR!

Swagger was lying over the steel chair and it was only revealed once Masters turned him around. The crowd unload a shit load of heat at Swagger as he drops the steel chair and he seems to have found a new energy after using the chair to gain the advantage, shoving Masters under the ropes and into the squared circle. Immediately after entering the ring again Swagger grabs a hold of his opponent’s ankle and twists it to a sick angle, Masters letting out a shrill cry of pain. The ankle lock is expertly applied by Swagger and he screams at Masters to give in, to save himself from further injury. The official asks whether the Masterpiece wants to submit but Chris offers a determined answer of ‘no’ and sets about trying to grab the bottom rope, Matthews reminding the viewers that it wouldn’t break the hold due to the rules but it could allow Masters to lifts himself to a stable base and possibly power out of the ankle lock. A distinct ‘Masterpiece’ chant can be heard being called out around the arena by the Tampa crowd as Chris edges closer and closer to the bottom rope, his fingers scratching against the canvas...

Swagger simply absorbs the heat he is receiving from the WWE Universe and taunts Masters as he rolls on the canvas clutching his ankle before the referee raises Jack’s arm towards the heavens. The All American American beats his chest and then climbs the turnbuckle, taunting the crowd and pointing towards Michael Cole on commentary, one of the most hated men in the WWE giving the Oklahoman a standing ovation.

Michael Cole: Once again Jack Swagger proves why he is one of the brightest young stars in the whole of the WWE with that victory. I hope Jack is drafted to RAW tomorrow night so that he can compete on a real wrestling programme and save himself from that dictator Teddy Long.

Booker T: Masters had that thing in the bag until Swagger used that steel chair, I don’t know why he is celebrating so much.

Michael Cole: Are you deaf Booker or just plain stupid? Didn’t you hear Teddy Long announce that it was an Extreme Rules match?

Swagger slides under the ropes and struts up the ramp, looking ecstatic. Cole continues to kiss Jack’s ass as he stands on the ramp as Swagger motions for the crowd to get down on their knees before him before he offers a last, gleaming smile and making his exit through the curtain. The last few boos disappear as the crowd cheers for Masters, trying to make his exit with the help of the official looking like he is in a great deal of pain.

The finish of Orton and Punk’s match at Wrestlemania is now on loop. Repeating images of a RKO to CM Punk flash across the screen, but slowly fade to a grayscale until the screen goes black. A beeping noise is slowly picking up pace in the background and the black screen is gone and replaced with a loud, static sound and the picture is complete snow. A voice can be heard, but it is unsure as to what the voice is saying. It slowly increases in volume and can now be heard loud and clear.

Randall, Randall, Randall. You defeated me at Wrestlemania (mania). This just wants me to take you out even more (even more). And I won’t stop (won’t stop) until that gets done.

The screen shakes and suddenly you see Orton lying in the middle of the ring, completely annihilated. Punk’s speech from before repeats throughout the background and the camera slowly pans up to the returning Skip Sheffield.

Michael Cole-Man that keeps it going Josh? Orton deserved everything he got from CM Punk. Orton is a cancer to this company and Punk is trying to do the right thing and get rid of him.

Punk checks how sturdy the steel structure is as he talks to Sheffield. Punk climbs the stairs and throws his shirt to the ground and enters the cage. Punk continues to check the cage as he waits for Randy Orton.

Josh Mathews-Randy Orton has been waiting for this moment since Sheffield and Punk took him out following Wrestlemania. And now with Sheffield seemingly out of the equation, Orton gets CM Punk one on one.

Orton stops at the cage and looks around as the crowd begins to chant “RKO”. Orton glares over at Sheffield and then locks his eyes on CM Punk, who is now sitting Indian style inside of the ring. Orton slowly begins to make his way up the stairs before entering the cage and slamming the door behind him.​

CM Punk vs. Randy Orton

Referee Charles Robinson orders the cage to be locked and then rings the bell and this match is officially underway. Punk looks around as he knows there is no way out from this fight with Orton. Sheffield sneaks up behind where Orton is standing and shakes the cage. Orton looks over at Sheffield and this gives Punk the chance to make a quick escape. Punk bolts up the ropes and tries pulling himself over, but Orton quickly notices and runs up the ropes and pulls Punk off the cage and crashing down, back first to the mat. Orton snaps his head back in Punk’s direction as he stalks his opponent. Punk is crawling towards the ropes as he tries to make his way to his feet. Orton charges at Punk and starts whaling away with lefts and rights, as the Straight Edge superstar tries to cover up to protect himself. Punk has himself stuck between the ropes and the cage and this lightens the blow of Orton’s attack. Orton lays off the fists and starts laying the boots into CM Punk. With every shot of the boot, Punk’s body bounces off the cage. Orton finally storms off and clenches his fist and grits his teeth and the crowd absolutely eats it up. Orton chants rain throughout the arena as Punk begins to pull himself up onto the apron. Orton doesn’t wait for Punk to get to his feet and he goes to pull Punk through the middle rope and hit his trademark Hangman’s DDT. However Punk counters as he carries himself through the ropes completely and flings Orton over the top rope and crashing into the side of the steel cage. Punk falls to his knees as Charles Robinson checks on the condition of Randy Orton. Punk starts to crawl his way to the door and signals for the outside official to open it up. Punk gets himself under the ropes and Orton sees it and gets up and dives at CM Punk. Orton grabs hold of Punk’s foot and Punk tries to kick Orton off, but to no avail. The Viper pulls Punk back into the ring and bounces right on top of him and starts throwing more wild punches. Punk is taking the brute of Orton’s punches before he manages to counter the move by rolling over, thus having Orton in position to take a beating. Punk hammers away with lefts and rights of his own before Orton shoves him off. Punk flies back and is in a seated position on the mat. Orton scoots himself into a similar position and the two just look at each other. Punk scurries his way to the closest corner and has a chit chat with Sheffield as Orton pulls himself to his feet. Punk grabs hold of the ropes and pulls himself into a standing position. Punk twists and grabs at his neck as if he was cracking it. He and Orton circle the ring before stopping in the middle and embracing in a stare down. Punk and Orton are now jaw jacking at one another before Punk pushes Orton. Orton takes a deep breath before pushing Punk. The force of Orton’s shove sends Punk to the mat and astonishes the Straight Edge superstar. Punk gets to one knee and tries to sweep Orton off his feet, but Randy slides out of the way. Punk hops up and walks right to Orton and the two men finally lock up. Neither man can get an advantage and they break the hold. The rest period doesn’t last long as the two lock up again, but this time Punk takes a cheap shot with a knee straight into Orton’s sternum. Punk follows that up with a kick that sends Punk’s heel straight into the back of Orton’s neck. Orton falls to the mat immediately and holds his neck, rolling on the mat. Punk goes straight for the cover on the wounded Orton.

Punk slams his hands down on the mat and yells at Charles Robinson to count faster. Punk shakes his head as he lifts Orton up and throws him into the turnbuckle. Punk runs to attempt his patented knee strike in the corner, but when Punk runs up the ropes Orton shoves him off and sends him flying across the ring. Punk is right up to his feet but that doesn’t last long as Orton bursts out of the corner and drops Punk with a clothesline. Punk is quick to his feet, but Orton nails yet another clothesline and follows that up with a dropkick to Punk as soon as he gets up. Orton pulls Punk away from the ropes and goes for a cover.

Orton doesn’t bother arguing with Charles Robinson as he lifts Punk up off the mat and throws him face first into the steel cage. Punk’s face bounces off the steel and the Nexus leader crashes onto the mat below. Punk rolls around on the mat clutching at his face and Charles Robinson checks if he has sustained a broken nose. Punk shakes off Robinson as Orton turns himself around and begins to pound on the mat, signaling the RKO. Punk slowly starts to get up as Orton is in position, but Skip Sheffield starts rattling the cage and begins to climb up. Orton is knocked out of his trance as he goes to the cage and begins to shake it. Sheffield falls from the cage and smacks his face on the security wall. However this has given Punk the time to recuperate and Orton doesn’t know it. Randy turns around and Punk nails Orton square in the head with a huge roundhouse kick. Orton falls to his knees and Punk signals that the match is over. Punk begins his climb towards the top of the cage. Punk has hands gripped across the top and he pulls himself up. Punk now is straddled atop the cage and he goes to throw his other leg out as Orton begins to climb the cage to stop Punk. Punk looks to be in the clear, but Orton out of nowhere grabs Punk by the little hair he has. Punk tries to squirm out, but Orton has him locked in. Orton superplexes Punk back into the ring and the impact from the landing shakes the ring. Both Punk and Orton roll around the mat, as the landing took a toll out of both of them. Both men crawl over to the ropes and pull themselves up. Feint CM Punk chants can be heard, but they are drowned out by RKO chants. Orton is the first to his feet and he stumbles back towards the center of the ring. Punk is up now and he turns and his greeted by a right hand from The Viper. This sends Punk back into the ropes. Punk bounces off and goes for a wild punch, but Orton ducks it and counters with his trademark backbreaker. Punk bounces off Orton and rolls to the apron. Orton is all business as he lifts Punk up into a standing position, only to drag him through the middle rope and drop him with a hangman’s DDT. Punk’s head bounces off the canvas and Orton goes for a cover.

FOOT ON THE ROPES!

Orton seems to be a bit shocked that Punk got his foot on the rope as he begins to talk to Charles Robinson about the count. Robinson ensures Orton that it was a two count. Orton pulls Punk up off the mat and whips him across the ropes. Orton seems to be going for a powerslam, but Punk pounces off the ropes and nails Orton with a flying forearm. Punk starts crawling towards the door. Sheffield is back to his feet and he is now by the door, cheering his leader on. The door is opened and Punk is halfway before Orton grabs his leg. Punk continues to try and crawl out and drags Orton with him. Orton manages to overpower Punk and pulls him back in. In the process Orton dives over Punk and tries to escape out the door, but Sheffield grabs the door and slams it straight into the head of Orton. Orton falls back and Punk catches him in a rollup.

Punk’s jaw nearly hits the mat, as he cannot believe that Orton kicked out. Sheffield is also astonished on the outside as he rips apart the steel stairs and throws the top up the entrance ramp. Punk figures if he can’t pin Orton, he has no choice but to escape. Punk begins to crawl to the ropes and pulls himself up and begins to climb. Orton is right behind him as Punk grabs on to the top and tries to pull himself over. Punk is exhausted as Orton is now up and grabs Punk by the leg and pulls him off. Punk doesn’t have the strength to hang on to the top and Punk falls straight onto the top rope, straddling it. Punk screams in agony as Orton now bounces the ropes up and down, furthering the pain. Orton finally gives the ropes one big tug and Punk goes flying off the ropes and onto the mat. Punk rolls around and kicks the mat in pain as Orton has a slight smirk on his face. Orton turns and begins to climb the cage. Sheffield tries to encourage Punk to get up as Orton seems to have this in the bag. Orton pulls himself to the top of the cage, but pauses as he stares down at Punk. Orton hops down and plants himself in the corner as it looks like Orton is going to live up to his promise of taking Punk out. Punk gets himself on all floors and Orton charges to go for his career threatening boot. Orton is mere inches from connection but Punk dodges out of the way and Orton crashes into the corner. Punk pops up to his feet and Orton staggers out of the corner and Punk lifts him up for the GTS. Punk throws Orton up and nails him right in the jaw with a huge knee, connecting with the GTS. Punk falls back as Orton crashes to the mat. Punk crawls over to Orton and drapes his arm across Orton’s chest.

The crowd goes nuts as Orton keeps this match alive. Punk can’t believe what he is seeing. Punk starts screaming at Charles Robinson and he grabs him by his shirt. Robinson yells back at Punk, but Punk doesn’t seem to care as he chucks Robinson into the steel cage. Punk yells over at Sheffield who digs under the ring and whips out a steel chair. Sheffield throws the chair over the top of the cage to his leader. Punk smacks the chair across the cage a few times and then bangs it against the mat. Orton is partially standing with the help of the ropes and Punk whacks him right in the spine with the steel chair. Orton screams as the thud of the chair echoes throughout the arena. Orton crawls around the ring and Punk again slams the chair across Orton’s back. Punk throws the chair against the cage wall and walks around the ring before yelling at Sheffield to get into the ring. Sheffield shoves the outside official, Jack Doan to the ground and rips open the cage door. Sheffield is now in the ring and makes his way towards Punk. Punk begins to whisper into Sheffield’s ear and he nods in agreement. Punk slaps Sheffield on the chest and makes his way up the cage. Sheffield is ready to pounce on Orton, who is finally starting to wobble to his feet. Sheffield takes off and goes to take off Orton’s head with a clothesline, but Orton ducks and then nails a RKO on a turning Sheffield. The crowd is now back into this as Orton seems to have a chance again. Punk is taking his time as Orton bolts up the turnbuckle and grabs Punk’s foot as he is about to go over. Punk is shocked as Orton tries to pull himself up. Punk tries kicking Orton off, but to no avail and The Viper tugs on Punk’s leg and forces Punk to put both feet into the cage. Punk is hanging on for dear life, but it doesn’t last long as Orton breaks Punk’s grip of the cage and Punk flies off the top and crashes onto the mat below. Orton seems to be drained of all energy and he falls from the top rope and joins Punk down on the mat. Charles Robinson begins to stir from his attack. Punk rolls over and slowly crawls to the doorway of the cage. Punk is moving at snail rate as Orton rolls over and grabs hold of Punk’s boot. Punk rolls over and tries to kick Orton off, but Orton stays latched on as he hits the mat. Orton begins to scoot across the mat and this brings Punk back into the middle of the ring. Orton pulls himself up while pulling Punk with him. Punk has managed to get himself turned around and is facing Orton. Orton spins Punk around by his leg and then takes him down with a Thesz Press. Orton starts to nail Punk with heavy punched before rolling off and going into one of his trances. Orton spins around and throws himself on the mat and starts pounding on it. Punk staggers to his feet and Orton jumps up for the RKO, but Punk pushes him off. Orton almost bounces into the cage, but stops his momentum with the ropes. Punk is on top of things and nails a dropkick to a turning Orton, sending the back of his head into the cage. Orton grimaces in pain as Punk rolls down his kneepad following the dropkick. Punk slaps his knee as it is clear what Punk has his mind set on. Punk charges Orton and goes for his running knee lift, but Orton manages to move out of the way in the nick of time and Punk’s knee crashes into the cage. Punk limps backwards and rubs his injured knee before turning around and being dropped with a huge RKO that gets the crowd jumping out of their seats. Orton goes straight for the cover and Charles Robinson makes the count.

Matt Striker: Edge, thank-you for allowing me this time to interview you. Firstly, both you and Christian have competed in a number of extreme matches in your careers so do you have a specific game plan going into your match tonight?

Edge had been staring into space the entire time Striker had been talking and once he finished, the Canadian glanced at him as if he were the most disgusting thing he had ever witnessed in his life.

Edge: Give you my strategy going into my match? You’d like that wouldn’t you Striker? You are just like everybody else; you take and take until there is nothing left for me to give, until I am left with absolutely nothing. In fact you remind me a lot of my former buddy Christian. He sucked everything of worth from my body for years so that he could make something of his worthless life and I thank God, wait no I thank myself that I finally realized what was happening. Christian cost me my World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania in a match, that if it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t have even been involved in.

A sliver of heat for Edge while Striker hangs off every word.

Edge: There is a simple reason that Christian hasn’t ever won a world championship in his meagre career; he just plain isn’t good enough. Christian may try hard and let out his frustrations upon others, such as myself of course, by purposely costing them championships that he would never hold in a million years. But tonight I am going to cost Christian more than just a title belt; I am going to cost him a chunk of his insignificant career.

More heat for Edge as he picks up in the intensity a level; the mere mention of Christian enough to make his blood boil.

Edge: We are going to be in an Extreme Rules match tonight, it may seem cute that it fits in perfectly with the night but I can promise you this – it is anything but. Extreme Rules matches are violent and brutal and anybody that has competed in one can tell you that you walk out of the match a different man than you entered. But hardcore environments are my speciality and I thrive in them. I have competed in so many no holds barred matches that a steel chair feels just like an extension of my forearm, I have been through so many wooden tables that splinters are permanently ingrained in my skins and I relish the feeling of cracking someone so hard in the face with a ladder that I can literally hear their teeth rattle inside their mouths.

Heat.

Edge: And speaking of ladders, once I have disposed of Christian I am putting whoever walks out of the ladder match later tonight with the World Heavyweight Championship on notice; sooner or later that title is coming back home.

More heat as Edge takes a deep breath.

Edge: To me.

Heat.

Edge: These idiots in Tampa may cheer Christian all they want and Captain Charisma (Edge says this with a violent grin) can try his hardest to pull out the victory but it isn’t going to happen. The record books don’t say how hard you tried, how much you wanted the victory, they only print the cold hard facts: the victor and the loser. And tonight, the victor is going to be the same man it always is; ME!

The WWE Universe unleashes hate upon Edge with that final comment.

Matt Striker: Thank-you for your time Edge.

A broad smirk appears upon Edge’s face...

Edge: Finally, a bit of gratitude.

but it quickly disappears.

Edge: NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!

More heat for Edge as he walks out of his locker room, pushing a stunned Striker into the wall before the screen fades to black.

Edge walks out to the ring in jeans and a leather jacket, a solemn look on his face.

Edge: Before I reveal why I did what I did last week I would like to give everyone a quick history lesson.

Complete silence as all focus on Edge’s words.

Edge: Five years ago I completed my lifelong dream to finally become the best in the world by capturing the WWE Championship.

Edge hands over a briefcase holding the most exclusive contract in the WWE to Mr. McMahon, walks down the ramp and hits a bloodied Cena with a vicious spear.

Edge: Many called that win a fluke.

He now celebrates on that same night with his newly won title, Lita cheering alongside him.

Edge: But after I piled on a number of impressive victories and won championship after championship, no-one ever mentioned the words ‘fluke’ and ‘Edge’ in the same breath let alone the same sentence.

The Rated R Superstar spearing and beating down a number of the WWE’s top stars (Cena, ‘Taker, Orton), then holding up every title he has ever won, the titles going by in a rush of gold.

Edge: But the moment I began investing myself in others it all went wrong.

All the title wins shown earlier flash backwards, the screen going dark and growing smaller until the screen is black.

Edge: I need to start looking after the most important man in the world once again; myself.

Christian tries to question Edge in the ring but receives nothing but a combination of punches and stomps to the face and chest respectively. Past shots of Edge as a champion, looking happy before a shot of Christian backstage-

Christian: Am I surprised? No. Cheap shots and short cuts tell me one thing; the real Edge is back.

Edge looks overjoyed as confetti flies down from the sky and he places the World Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder.

Josh Matthews: Edge, now an eleven time world champion!

Backstage.

Edge: So what chance does Christian have against me?

Christian pacing in a locker room.

Christian: I have worked my ass off to entertain these fans night in and night out; my peeps are the most important thing in the world to me.

In the ring, running a hand through his long blonde hair.

Edge: I don’t care what anybody thinks of me, I am going back to my winning ways – I will be World Heavyweight Champion very, very soon. Christian has his ‘peep’s, well I have the most illustrious resume in sports entertainment history.

Roaming backstage, Christian looks angry to say the least.

Christian: Edge is nothing more than a coward, I am going to make him pay for every vile thing he has ever done in his career and prove that I am the better man.

Edge: My match at Extreme Rules is going to end up the same way it always does...

Edge clubs Christian with a boot then jars him with a spear.

Christian: Cheap.

Edge: ...with the most important man in the world...

Christian is beaten to the ground with fists then after a small break he is cracked in the forehead with a sharp kick.

Christian: Weak.

Edge: ...having his hand raised in victory...

A giant slideshow of Edge and Christian brawling, after their initial break up, several rare matches over the years and finally during their encounters recently in 2011.

Christian: Coward.

Edge: ME!

Both men clench their teeth as they are held back by security, wanting to rip a piece out of the other. The audio goes silent before it comes back with a bang as Edge sprints at his rival and spears him to the ground, the security wrapping him up the moment the act is complete. Complete silence as the package begins to wrap up; the words of the two men being focused upon just as it did during the start of the video.

Edge: Even though I shouldn’t have to prove it once again, at Extreme Rules the whole world will be reminded why I am...

Both: The better man.

We cut back to a silent arena, where Justin Roberts is about to announce the next match and its participants. The three commentators at the announce desk mutter excitably about the next match, but they cut off by a very familiar entrance theme.

An explosion of heat for Edge as he stumbles out through a sheet of smoke and looks around grimly at the WWE Universe, hate plastered across his features. Edge throws up his rock horns into the sky and a shower of dark pyro goes off behind him as he poses, the Rated R Superstar then takes a deep breath before he makes his start down the ramp.

Justin Roberts: The following contest is an Extreme Rules Match! Introducing first, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing in at 241 pounds, he is the Rated R Superstar...EDGE!

The Canadian waltzes down the first part of the ramp before sprinting down the remainder of it and sliding under the bottom rope. Edge spends a couple of seconds belly down on the canvas before pushing himself up and climbing a turnbuckle in order to pose to the crowd.

Michael Cole: It’s hard to say which of the two men competing is going to have the advantage tonight; they have both had their fair share of extreme encounters.

Booker T: I’m not a betting man but if I was I’d have my money on the Canadian.

The boos die down as Edge saunters into the middle of the ring and, thanks to the great camera work, it can be seen that his cold, grey eyes are focused on the titantron in anticipation for the arrival of his rival.

GO!

*Just Close Your Eyes*

Christian receives quite the opposite reaction than his former tag team partner, as he walks out from behind the curtain to a nice ovation, wearing black tights fitted with a red and white cut. The Canadian raises a hand over his brow, searching for his beloved Peeps, before tapping his chest which is covered by a WWEShop.com singlet. Captain Charisma slowly makes his way down the ramp, his eyes now set on Edge’s and the two rival’s eyes remain set for the remainder of Christian’s journey towards the ring.

Justin Roberts: And his opponent, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, weighing in at 227 pounds... CHRISTIAN!

Captain Charisma walks slowly up the steel ring steps, taking each one slowly and methodically. Christian eventually makes his way into the middle of the ring and he faces off against his former tag team partner with both men now standing in their ring gear alone, ‘Rated R’ t-shirt and ‘Peep’ singlet now long gone.

Josh Matthews: Just thirteen pounds and three inches separate these two men, I cannot wait for this and judging by the crowd’s reaction neither can the WWE Universe here in Tampa.

Michael Cole: Don’t forget they’re also separated by about eleven world title reigns...

Edge and Christian go nose-to-nose in the centre of the squared circle, neither man giving an inch. Steely expressions are on each man’s face as the crowd throw a wild reaction, filled with both cheers and boos, at the two Canadians. Edge mouths something, something that might not have been terribly kind as Christian strikes the Rated R Superstar in the jaw with a right hand; the referee rings the bell...

Edge vs. Christian

Both men exchange a number of punches to the mug but it is Christian who takes control, hitting a number of shots to the Rated R Superstar without any reply. Christian hits one final shot to Edge’s cheek which sends him sprawling to the mat before sprinting back against the ropes and clothes lining his adversary over the top rope! Over on commentary, Matthews comments that the two men competing at the moment are not wasting time laying into each other and his words sing true as Christian waits patiently for Edge to rise to his feet before grabbing the top rope with both of his hands in order to sling himself out of the ring and on to his opponent! Out on the floor, Captain Charisma roughly drags Edge to his feet by his hair and cracks him in the mouth once more before slamming his face off the announce desk, causing Cole to jump back in fright. The crowd can only give their support as Christian continues his onslaught, throwing Edge back first into the barricade and following that up with a range of stomps to the abdomen. Christian then turns to the crowd and slaps his chest a number of times as well as roaring his approval of what he has achieved so far before turning back to the job at hand. Edge wanders right into Christian’s grip who sets up for a vertical suplex on the outside padding, Captain Charisma goes to lift his adversary but Edge sticks his leg out and blocks it. The Rated R Superstar suddenly comes back to life and reverses the manoeuvre, powering Christian into the air and then slamming him stomach first onto the top of the barricade. Edge takes a quick breather as he walks away from his opponent but suddenly charges forward and rocks Christian, still lying over the barricade, in the side of the skull with a boot! The crowd groan loudly at the impact Edge’s boot had on Christian’s head as Captain Charisma slides to the ground with a vacant look in his eyes, the Rated R Superstar hurling Christian under the bottom rope and into the squared circle.

Edge follows his former tag partner into the ring and swings a clothesline as Christian rises to his feet, the Canadian ducking just in time and tripping Edge into the second rope, neck first, as he turns to face him. Christian takes a quick run-up in order to leap on to Edge’s neck and begins choking him on the ring rope, Edge grasps for air for what seems to be around ten seconds of pure pain, pure pleasure for Christian and the fans, before Christian releases the hold. Captain Charisma promptly leaps over the top rope to the outside and cracks Edge, who is still wedged on the second rope, in the chin with a swift right hand. Now with both men in the ring, Christian with the slight advantage, Captain Charisma appeared as if he was going to go for a pin but after pondering the matter for just a few moments he chooses to continue the assault by lifting Edge up and whipping him into a turnbuckle. Christian goes sprinting after his opponent but Edge lifts the elbow up and catches Captain Charisma in the mouth, sending him sprawling, and the heelish Canadian looks to take advantage by charging at – but he is sent high into the air and soon comes crashing back to earth face first thanks to a flapjack. Again Christian doesn’t go for a pin attempt and instead charges off the ropes, has his attack ducked by Edge, another clothesline from Christian avoided by Edge as Captain Charisma rebounds off the ropes and as Christian goes for a dropkick he is caught mid-air, his head snapping off the canvas. Edge lines Christian up with the corner and with a sick grin to the crowd he catapults Christian face first into the turnbuckle. The crowd urge Christian to move as Edge stumbles forward to start his usual methodical technique but Captain Charisma slips into the second rope – pendulum kick – no! Once again, Edge catches Christian’s leg and proceeds to drape his foot on his adversary’s neck and drive the head of Christian into the canvas.

Under massive heat from the WWE Universe in Tampa, Edge begins to stamp away at the upper body and head of Christian with complete and utter contempt for his adversary. With Christian struggling in pain on the mat, Edge throws up the rock horns and absorbs the boos and jeers he receives from the crowd. Captain Charisma receives a sharp kick to the gut on his way to his feet, followed by a right hand to the cheek, then a clubbing blow to Christian’s spine before Edge scoops his opponent up in his arms. But the agile Canadian doesn’t remain in Edge’s clutches for more than a second as he slides out the back, Christian now attempting to hit his patented inverted DDT but it is to no avail as Edge swivels on his ankles and pushes Christian off of him. A big boot is ducked by Christian and Captain Charisma tries to lock in the Killswitch! Christian turns Edge on to his stomach, could the Killswitch hit at this moment in time?! NO! Edge now has Christian in an inverted headlock position and he drops Christian spine first on to his knee and then clubs him hard in the back soon after, Captain Charisma hitting the mat sharply. It is Edge now who rolls Christian on to his back and tries for the first pinfall attempt of the match, hooking a single leg...

2... CHRISTIAN LIFTS A SHOULDER UP WITH AUTHORITY!

The Rated R Superstar doesn’t seem riled that he couldn’t put his former tag team partner away and instead slips through the ropes to the outside, lifting up the apron and searching for something in particular. After several moments of rummaging, Edge appears over the ring; with a Singapore cane in hand! The satisfaction that Edge received from picking up the weapon doesn’t last long as he is blasted away from the apron towards the ramp by a giant baseball slide dropkick, Christian’s boots meeting the mouth of the Rated R Superstar with incredible force. Christian, still in the ring, watches Edge slowly rise to a stable base and as he does Captain Charisma runs at the ropes and springboards off of them in a triangle fashion, launching himself plancha style over the top rope, out of the ring and into the air – flying at his nemesis! Christian looks to crash into Edge and knock him down but the Rated R Superstar has other options as he sidesteps slightly out of the way and cracks Captain Charisma in the side with the Singapore cane that he was clutching to his chest. Christian goes crashing to the ground, clutching his ribs and as he stumbles to his feet he receives another stinging shot to the midsection, doubling him over. Edge takes great pleasure in smashing the cane over Captain Charisma’s back and watching him scream out in pain as the wood strikes his spine, the Rated R Superstar now looking to strike his opponent square in the face... no! Christian just avoided that shot and fires back with two sharp right hands to Edge’s mug, a kick to the gut before making a grab for the cane and he manages to successfully get it in his possession.

Edge, now without a weapon in hand, backs off and sprints away from Christian, turning around the ring post and diving into the ring. Christian is quick to follow, shadowing Edge’s movements but instead of blindly diving under the bottom rope, where the Rated R Superstar was waiting with an elbow drop, he feints and causes Edge to hit nothing but canvas. Christian instead leaps on to the apron and cracks Edge in the shoulder with the cane, throws it down to the outside and starts to ascend the outside of the corner. The Rated R Superstar stumbles around the centre of the ring and then turns blindly towards the corner where he is taken out with a magnificent missile dropkick courtesy of Captain Charisma. Christian rolls over his opponent, shoots the half...

2... EDGE KICKS OUT!

Both men rise together as one and Christian takes the opportunity to swipe Edge across the mouth with a punch before scooping him up and slamming him down to the mat, Captain Charisma immediately going to work with a side headlock – taking care to grab a wad of Edge’s hair as he does so, trying to inflict as much pain as possible. Edge’s eyes begin to pop out of his head but a lull in Christian’s concentration allows the Rated R Superstar to fight his way on to a stable base and lift Christian up for a back suplex. This time it is Christian who fights out and floats over his opponent’s shoulder, dropkicking Edge in the square of the back and sending the heelish Canadian head first into a top turnbuckle. Captain Charisma follows this attack with another dropkick, causing Edge to bounce off the corner and stumble out to the middle of the ring, allowing Christian to jump straight to the second rope, turn to his adversary and leap forward and connect with a spinning elbow – the Flashpoint hits! Captain Charisma grabs Edge by his long, blonde hair and begins to make a beeline for the ropes, seemingly to hurl his opponent over the top rope, but Edge puts on the breaks by ducking down and grabbing the second rope. This shift in weight causes Christian to be rocketed jugular first into the tope rope, Captain Charisma grasps at his neck and steps slowly backwards only to be stopped dead by a big boot from Edge! Christian is lying very still on the mat after that vicious boot to the skull and it seems Edge may finish it right now...

2... CHRISTIAN JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP IN TIME!

Edge quickly goes from the pinfall into a half nelson, headlock combination in an attempt to wear down Christian even further. The crowd’s voice seems to have been lost as they watch Christian fader further and further under Edge’s grip, his eyes flickering and his arms losing their fight. Several moments go by before the crowd begins an audible ‘Christian’ chant and Captain Charisma takes that as a sign to start his escape from the submission hold. Christian shakes his arms wildly as he stands to his feet and then drops Edge down on to the top of his head, rattling the Rated R Superstar’s jaw, the crowd going nuts as the popular Canadian breaks free. Still feeling the effects of the hold, Christian stumbles back and leans on the ropes for a couple of seconds before charging back into the fight, right at Edge – but his arm is caught by the Rated R Superstar, Edge swivelling his body and dropping Christian face first to the canvas, his arm locked in a half nelson. Edge transitions from that move straight back in to the submission manoeuvre he was using just a minute ago, Christian looking worn down the moment he goes back into the hold. After around thirty seconds in the hold, Christian looks ready to pass out and the referee is on the scene, raising the left arm of Christian, the only free arm, into the air...

1... DOWN!

2... DOWN!

3... DO- NO, CHRISTIAN JUST KEEPING HIS WRIST STABLE!

Edge thought he had the match in the bag and isn’t prepared as Christian tries to fight his way out for the second time. With his free arm, Christian unloads a pair of elbows and then, quick as a flash, snapmares Edge over his head and frees himself from the manoeuvre. A big elbow meets Edge as he gets to his feet before Christian sprints back off the ropes and connects with a forearm smash, followed by another identical shot and, after avoiding a right hand, he connects with his patented falling inverted DDT. Christian doesn’t make an attempt to put away Edge but he does lift the Rated R Superstar’s arm up, alongside his entire body, in order to expose his ribs so that he can lift a knee into his adversary’s side before shotting him face first into the canvas. Christian ignores the pinfall once more and instead waits on baited breath for Edge to rise up, Captain Charisma bouncing on the balls of his feet in anticipation – the crowd knows what is coming up next, the Killswitch! The heelish Canadian rise right into it, Christian twisting his opponent’s arms behind his back and is about to drop do- no! Edge breaks his limbs free and latches on to Christian’s neck, dropping down his weight in an Edge-O-Matic! Christian’s shoulders are down...

2... CHRISTIAN JUST ESCAPES THE PINFALL!

The Canadian pair both stumble into one another near a corner and Christian is the first to react, lashing out with a mule kick to the stomach of Edge before proceeding to springboard out of the corner, into a sunset flip. Before the referee has a chance to begin a count Edge rolls through the predicament but his own momentum is used against him as he continues to roll and soon Christian has the advantage, grabbing a hold of Edge’s ankles, stepping begin the gap he just created and locking the legs before twisting the Rated R Superstar on to his stomach... Christian has the Sharpshooter locked in! The crowd roar as Edge screeches in pain, his nails clawing against the canvas as more time passes by being trapped in the hold. Edge’s right hand shakes dangerously just inches above the mat, he looks close to submitting but after several more nervous moments the Rated R Superstar is able to manoeuvre his body weight to relieve the pain and get on to his back, Edge now grabbing one each of Christian’s arm and leg, small package...

2... CHRISTIAN SLIPS OUT, FORCED TO BREAK THE SHARPSHOOTER!

Both men scramble up, trying to gain an advantage but Edge remained a hold of one of Christian’s ankles and he uses this to lock in a hold of his own, the Edgecator! The tides have certainly been turned as it is now Captain Charisma who is scrambling to escape a potentially match ending submission hold, Christian tries to drag himself towards reprieve but it’s not an easy task with Edge driving him into the ground. The crowd urge Christian not to give in to the pain but as he raises his hand precariously over the canvas it appears he just might be about to, but instead of tapping the popular Canadian clenches his hand around the bottom rope. It does anything but break the hold, considering the rules, but Christian is able to lift himself up, turn on to his back, grab a hold of the second rope and yank himself through the ropes, bringing Edge along for the ring. Both men hit the outside with a dull thud and Edge is first up, scrambling away from his adversary towards the time keeper and with a look of ecstasy he grabs a steel chair and raises it in the air for the entire WWE Universe to view. Edge charges at his adversary with the chair in hand, hate evident in his eyes, and lifts the steel weapon int- WHAT IMPACT, a dropkick from Christian sends the chair crashing into Edge’s face! Both men stay still on the outside for a few moments more but eventually Christian throws both Edge and the steel chair back into the squared circle, jumping on to the apron himself. Edge gingerly tries to lung at Captain Charisma but it is all in vain as Christian hot shots his adversary off the top rope, the Rated R Superstar crumpling backwards onto his back. Christian is now perched on the top turnbuckle after ascending the corner and, after a quick glance at his supporters in Tampa, he leaps out at his opponent. The diving headbutt hits nothing but canvas and Christian groggily rises up, Edge clutches on to his neck and spikes him with an Edgecution! This must be it, both legs hooked...

2... CHRISTIAN INCHES OUT WITH MILLISECONDS TO SPARE!

Despite kicking out of the cover Christian seems dead to the world, his eyelids flickering and his breathing slow and ragged. To an extreme amount of hate, Edge screams abuse at his former tag team partner, urging him to get up. Reminiscent of a number weeks ago on Smackdown, Christian raises his head groggily off the mat and blinks slowly, Edge taking this time to strike, sprinting at Christian with the intention of booting him in the skull. Christian ducks just in time to avoid the strike and rolls Edge up, bundling him into a cover. Edge powers out just before a three count and as soon as he is out of the predicament, the Rated R Superstar moves in to attack, hitting a quick rolling wheel kick to keep Christian grounded once again. Edge now glances around the ring and within moments he has the steel chair in hand, having only to go a few feet to retrieve it. The WWE Universe anxiously await as Edge begins to pound the canvas in anticipation for Christian to get to his feet, Edge licking his lips as Christian stumbles to an unstable base, Edge swings with all his might... but Christian avoids the steel and clasps his hands around the waist of the Rated R Superstar before lifting him over head, an amazing bridging German suplex...

2... WITH THE STEEL CHAIR STILL IN HAND, EDGE USES IT TO SMACK CHRISTIAN ON THE TIP OF THE HEAD AND BREAK THE COVER!

With both men now up, Edge lodges the steel chair between the ribs of his adversary and before Christian even has a chance to gasp for air he is cracked over the back with another vicious shot. Now back in control, Edge slams the chair down to the mat and lifts Christian up and brutally brings him back down onto the steel with a back suplex. Over on commentary, Booker mentions that despite being a big Christian fan he can’t see him pulling out the victory now, meanwhile Edge laughs manically over the body of a wailing Christian, Captain Charisma clutching his back as his opponent grabs him up to inflict some more damage. Edge attempts to mimic the body the manoeuvre he just completed moments ago and lifts Christian into the air, back suplex style, once more – the popular Canadian hovering precariously over the chair. But as a last ditch effort Christian pushes off his nemesis and falls forwards before suddenly turning back, kicking Edge in the midsection and dropping his adversary head first onto the steel with a standard DDT! Both competitors stay on the canvas for a large amount of time but Christian gains his footing first and unleashes a barrage of punches on a woozy Rated R Superstar, Christian’s hands going by in a whirl of hate until Edge wobbles uncontrollably on his feet. Christian roars towards the crowd and then drops Edge with a clothesline, another quickly follows and Captain Charisma follows Edge fall into the turnbuckle, hitting a devastating shoulder block to the gut of the heelish Canadian as he tries to recover. The long blonde hair of Edge is grabbed by Christian, who ascends on to the second rope and pulls the Rated R Superstar’s head under his arm pit – pushing off the ropes and twisting 180 degrees, looking for a tornado DDT. But, incredibly, Edge is able to counter mid-move and drop the turning Christian with a sit-down powerbomb! Edge goes straight into the pin, hardly having to move to be in that position...

3... WAIT! NO, CHRISTIAN SNEAKED UP THE SHOULDER, JUST!

Holy shit, Edge cannot believe that Christian isn’t finished after that powerbomb and in his desperation he grabs the steel chair, now slightly out of shape, and places it in the corner between the gap in the top and second rope. Christian is grabbed by the scruff and Edge begins to sprints at the well placed weapon in the corner of the ring, but with inches to spare Christian ducks out of his adversary’s grip and slips behind the Rated R Superstar. The crowd go wild as Christian grabs both of his opponent’s arms and twists them behind his back, Killswitch, can Christian flip the switch? No, Edge drives his weight forward all the way to the opposite corner and trips Christian’s legs up so he lands neck first on to the bottom rope! Christian flops back up but Edge is there waiting, grabbing his outstretched arm and tripping his opponent face first into the canvas, the Rated R Superstar backing away to the opposite corner, leaning his back on the steel chair. Although there is no ‘spear’ chant of old, the fans know it is coming as Edge kneels in the corner, wrenches at his greasy hair and he begins panting furiously like an incensed jungle animal. Christian rises up with help from the ropes and turns to see a sprinting Edge launching himself in his direction – Christian just gets a foot up and deflects the spear, Edge stumbles backwards and Christian takes the time to springboard off the corner, looking for another sunset flip... SPEAR! SPEAR! Edge was able to catch Christian in mid-air with his signature move and the Rated R Superstar crawls to make the cover... but the impact of the move caused Christian to fall under the bottom rope and to the outside! It takes a few moments but eventually Edge drags the dead weight of Christian back into the squared circle, slowly crawls towards his former tag team partner and drape an arm over the shoulder...

2... WHAT?! CHRISTIAN GETS OUT OF THE COVER! THIS ONE IS STILL GOING!

Edge, with what little strength he has left, almost begins to tear his hair out in frustration! After throwing Christian towards the opposite corner, Edge sets up for the spear again but without his usual routine, no hair pulling, heavy breathing – just eyes focused intently on Christian trying to get to his feet. Christian pulls himself up, relying fully on the ropes this time, and Edge takes that as his queue to begin his charge but as he draws nearer, Christian loses his grip on the ropes and falls flat on his face; conveniently avoiding the attack all in one motion. To a huge positive reaction Edge runs head first into the chair he placed in the corner earlier in the contest, the steel rattling the Canadian’s brain and he stumbles backwards, Christian rolling him up, bundling him into a cover...

3!!! CHRISTIAN HAS WON THE MATCH, THE ROLL-UP WAS SUCCESFUL IN KEEPING EDGE DOWN FOR A COUNT OF THREE! (15:06)

The moment the referee hits the canvas for a third successive time the arena explodes with cheers for Captain Charisma, Christian then helped to his feet by the official.

Justin Roberts: Here is your winner... CHRISTIAN!

Christian gingerly attempts to walk towards the ropes in order to exit up the ramp – BUT HE HAS A STEEL CHAIR RAPPED OVER HIS SPINE - BY EDGE! Edge has gone insane here, unleashing a range of shots to Christian’s upper and lower back, only stopping once he has run out of juice to lift the chair any more. After around five shots with the steel chair, Edge leaves Christian to wallow in his pain and sets up the chair in the middle of the ring as if he is about to sit down on it. But it isn’t Edge who takes a seat as the Rated R Superstar drags a limp Christian up and places him in a sitting position on to the cold, black steel of the chair. Edge walks slowly back towards the ropes and stares at his former tag team, mouthing the question ‘are you really the better man?’ before charging at Captain Charisma and spearing the holy hell out of him!

Josh Matthews: Christian earned his victory here tonight but Edge, the jealous psychopath that he is just couldn’t accept that.

Booker T: That right ‘dere was just plain sick. What an incredible back and forth encounter that was and Edge goes and ruins it, a real shame.

Michael Cole: I don’t exactly encourage this, what did you really expect?

By this time Edge has made it up to the top of the ramp and before feinting as if he was about to post to the crowd he doesn’t, instead turning his back and throwing up the rock horns to a dangerous level of heat. The Rated R Superstar slips behind the curtain with a grim look on his face while Christian struggles to even raise his chest off the canvas.

After that advertisement, we return to the announce desk where Booker T, Josh Matthews and Michael Cole are waiting.

Josh Matthews: Over the Limit is sure to be an exciting event but we still have to get through two massive championship matches in order to get to Seattle on May the 22nd.

Booker T: Speaking of over the limit, Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio have both stated that they will go to any length in order to climb the ladder, pull down the title and walk out of Tampa as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Michael Cole: That’s true Booker, up next Alberto Del Rio is going to put his championship on the line against the Master of the 619 Rey Mysterio in a ladder match. Del Rio’s rise to the top of Smackdown has been impressive, but ever since the night of his debut he has always had a problem with the legendary luchador, Rey Mysterio.

A flash of black, the screen comes back with Christian, Cody Rhodes and then Rey Mysterio making their respective entrances to the ring.

Tony Chimel: The following is a triple threat number one contenders match.

Some major spots from the match are shown, eventually it boils down to Rey bundling up Cody after a springboard sunset flip, and scoring the pinfall.

Rey’s celebration is shown momentarily before Del Rio is shown backstage.

Alberto Del Rio: Rey Mysterio? Oh, no. He does not have the... class to wrestle me now that I am a champion, let alone hold the World Heavyweight Championship. We may have battled last year, but I am a much different, a much better person than I was then.

Rey Mysterio: I have been champion twice before and I earned respect alongside each of those victories.

Del Rio in the ring facing off against Rey, the only thing with a hint of colour is the title over Alberto’s shoulder.

Alberto Del Rio: Victories? They were flukes. I would rather die than let you get your filthy hands on my World Heavyweight Championship.

Alberto Del Rio: As the winner of the largest Royal Rumble in history, as the victory in the main event of this year’s Wrestlemania and as the greatest champion of the 21st Century, I deserve to choose the stipulation of my match at Extreme Rules.

A cluster of face paced back and forth action, a hurricanrana, a gutbuster, a spinning DDT, an enzuigiri, a 619 – frog splash, the crowd chants along as Rey pins Del Rio in the centre of the ring.

Rey Mysterio: Alberto at Extreme Rules you are going to have to work for every step you take, you will finally realize what I have been going through for the entirety of my career, because we are going to have a ladder match.

Alberto Del Rio: I will climb the ladder and retain my World Heavyweight Championship because it is my DESTINY!

The pay-per-view returns with the excitement noticeable in the air, a variety of different sized ladders placed around the ring. The camera focuses on the World Heavyweight Championship suspended above the squared circle before returning back to ground level where Justin Roberts is waiting to make his next announcement.

Justin Roberts: The following is a ladder match and it is for the World Heavyweight Championship!

BOOYAKA, BOOYAKA...

*Booyaka 619*

A huge pop for Rey Mysterio as he sprints out from behind the curtain and squats down on the stage, peering out at his many supporters in Tampa. Mysterio is a ball of energy here tonight as he sprints to each side of the ramp and sets off a rainbow of pyro with the flick of his finger, Rey then slowing down the pace as he walks down the ramp. After greeting a couple of young fans in the front row with his usual routine, Rey runs his hand over a steel ladder with determination plastered in the luchador’s eyes.

Justin Roberts: Introducing first, the challenger, from San Diego, California, weighing in at 175 pounds... REY MYSTERIOOO!

Booker T: I have been in many matches with Rey over the years but I can’t say I have seen him looking as focused as he is tonight. Rey wants that World Heavyweight Championship and he wants it bad, I can tell.

Michael Cole: He can want it all he likes but the fact of the matter is that standing in his way is the greatest champion Smackdown has ever seen, the Mexican aristocrat – Alberto Del Rio.

The cheers continue as Rey steps through the ropes and poses on a turnbuckle, his arms outstretched as he does so. Mysterio steps down and nervously adjusts his signature mask before doing a couple of last minute stretches, his eyes set on the entrance way, just waiting for his rival to enter the arena.

Justin Roberts: Ladies and gentleman, please welcome Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer... Ricardo Rodriguez!

A smattering of boos for the Mexican ring announcer but he brushes them off and after a quick stare off with Mysterio he grabs a microphone from his back pocket and holds it proudly in front of his chest with a smarmy smile planted across his face.

The boos of the crowd are drowned out by the blaring horn of a SSC Ultimate Aero which comes to a halt besides the ramp. Alberto Del Rio steps out of the driver’s side door and emerges looking as confident as ever despite the World Heavyweight Championship being absent from around his waist, instead he has a white scarf draped around his neck and sports bright gold tights. Del Rio leaps on to the ramp in one elegant movement and poses towards the ring, muttering something indistinct, a shower of golden pyro raining down behind him.

Ricardo Rodriguez: Podría todos ustedes bichos por favor escuchar el sonido de mi voz en este momento porque ahora soy el honor de presentar el más grande campeón de toda la WWE, que es oriundo de San Luis Potosí, México, pesó en esta noche en una magra 263 libras. .. él es el presente y el futuro de esta empresa, he is the World Heavyweight Champion... ALBERTOOOOO DELL RIOOOO!

Josh Matthews: Both men have promised to put everything on the line here tonight and how could you blame them with the greatest prize in the WWE literally hanging in the balance, the World Heavyweight Championship.

Booker T: Alberto Del Rio has only defended his championship once since he was victorious at Wrestlemania and that was against a much different opponent in Edge than the one he is facing tonight. The big time experience of Rey Mysterio may be a vital factor in this match, especially considering Del Rio’s distinct lack of ladder match experience in comparison to the Master of the 619.

Del Rio wanders up the steel ring steps and steps through the ropes, examines his surroundings for a few moments before staying put in a corner opposite his opponent. After motioning up at the ceiling towards the suspended championship, Alberto sets his eyes on Rey Mysterio and with a grin he winks menacingly before cracking up with laughter. The two rivals walk towards the centre of the ring and stand inches away from one another, Rey then pushes his nose against his adversary’s and the two stay in this position, locked nose to nose, until the official rings the bell.

The two competitors start the match by engaging in a lock-up, Mysterio and Del Rio struggle to gain the first advantage over the other but after a few moments of battling, Del Rio gets under Rey’s arms and shoves him roughly to the mat. Mysterio quickly gets back up and engages in another collar and elbow predicament but Alberto manages to overpower Rey once again and shove him to the ground. After rising up for the third time Rey changes his strategy, instead of trying to test his strength he unloads a sharp kick to Alberto’s thigh, catching him off guard, before he batters Del Rio twice in the mush with his forearm. The Master of the 619 attempts to whip his opponent into the opposite ropes but he is countered and as he rebounds back towards Del Rio the legendary luchador is swept up in his arms – no – the quickness of Rey allows him to readjust and he takes down his opponent with a headscissor. Alberto tries to rush back into the fray but he is cut down to size by a dropkick to the knee, the Mexican faltering on the mat for a few seconds and this allows Rey to get a small run up and plant two boots squarely in the side of his head. A woozy Del Rio stumbles back towards the ropes and lies against them, seeming slightly agitated that he is being out run so far, Rey then attempts to take his chance to drop the aristocrat to the outside but Del Rio ducks down and lifts the former world champion over the top rope... but Rey just manages to hang on to the ropes and land on the apron. The crowd pop loudly as they thought for a second that Mysterio was going to have a large drop to the outside floor but the WWE Universe in Tampa is quickly silenced as Del Rio turns around and immediately leaps into the air, dropkicking his enemy off the apron.

With a giant grin, Del Rio follows Mysterio down to the floor and walks towards a gigantic ladder, standing tall near the ring steps. After being folded up the ladder is tossed into the ring and Del Rio motions as if he is about follow it in but with Mysterio just getting to his feet as Alberto moves past him, the champion looking to soften up his adversary before he can try to finish the match off. Del Rio attempts to grab a hold of Mysterio but being the agile superstar that he is Rey slides underneath Alberto’s legs, leaps on to the apron and launches himself towards the champion, knocking him down with a crossbody. Now with his opponent recovering on the floor, Rey decides to add another ladder into the mix by tossing a slighter smaller steel ladder under the ropes and into the squared circle. However Mysterio took too long and this gives Del Rio enough time, and space, to clobber Rey in the small of the back and hurl Rey straight at the ring steps with an Irish whip. The luchador makes no contact with the steel steps as he athletically hand stands over the road block and then turns the tables as he dropkicks the steeps so that they smash into the knees of an onrushing Del Rio. Mysterio dashes up the steel steps but as he makes the half way mark he stops and unloads a kick to the side of Del Rio’s skull before continuing on his way into the ring. As Mysterio slips through the ropes, on the outside Del Rio drops to a single knee after being dazed from that last shot and the view of his opponent beginning to assemble the ladder in the middle of the ring is blocked. In the ring, Mysterio struggles but eventually manages to assemble the ladder he brought into the squared circle and lifts his foot up to the first rung... but he is knocked down from behind by Del Rio, the luchador’s face slapping against the steel of the ladder as he crumples to the mat.

Del Rio immediately drops the previously standing ladder into a corner and circles around Mysterio, the aristocrat obviously wanting to put more focused on hurting Rey than pulling down the title in the early goings of this contest. The Mexican stalks Mysterio on the edge of his feet, Del Rio circling the challenger until he rises and when he does he goes straight on the assault, cracking Rey in the gut before draping his arm over his own shoulder and snapping him over his back with a well executed suplex. Once again, Del Rio wanders around the prone luchador on the canvas and delivers another perfect snap suplex the moment Mysterio gets to his feet. While Rey writhes on the mat clutching his back, Del Rio waits for several moments for his opponent to get up but after realizing that his may not happen for a while he forcibly drags Mysterio onto his feet. Slowly, his movements dripping with arrogance, Del Rio lifts Rey’s arm up over his own shoulder and powers the challenger high into the air, the champion enjoying delaying the impact for a few moments. After a few seconds Del Rio still hasn’t executed the move and Rey is able to slip his leg down and crack Alberto in the bridge of his nose, allowing Rey to break his adversary’s grip and slip out of danger. Mysterio sprints back and rebounds off the ropes... but a swift, turning elbow from Del Rio cuts down the luchador’s momentum before he could even get it going again. With the crowd heartily booing him, Del Rio now goes over to the corner and grabs the smaller ladder but he doesn’t assemble, he carries it towards a downed Mysterio – more boos rain down as the WWE Universe realize their champion is going to use it as a weapon. Alberto raises the ladder high above his head and strikes it down towards Rey’s chest like a spear but Mysterio just rolls out in time, the shockwaves from the steel hitting the canvas with serious force causing the aristocrat to relinquish his grip on the ladder. With the ladder out of Del Rio’s grip it falls straight towards Rey once more, the luchador having to avoid it once again with incredible agility.

Snapping back up, Rey sprints at the ropes and when he comes back off them he athletically wheelbarrows into Alberto’s body and clutches at his adversary’s head, dropping Del Rio chest first onto the fallen ladder. That incredible sequence draws a nice response from the Tampa crowd and Del Rio claws at his chest in anguish, offering no defence as Mysterio sprints at the ropes, springboards off them and clutches on to Alberto’s head, spinning 180 degrees before dropping the champion on his head with a DDT. Mysterio immediately springs into action after taking out Del Rio with a tornado DDT, setting up a ladder directly under the suspended championship and speeds up the rungs. He only makes it half way up the ladder however as Del Rio stumbles up and drags the luchador off the steel structure by the back of his tights, Rey just managing to fall backwards on to his feet and lash back an elbow – sending Del Rio falling back into the turnbuckle. Mysterio makes another dash for the title, making it around third quarters of the way this time and only has time to make a futile reach for the gold before Del Rio thwarts him again. But this time Del Rio does more than just tug his opponent’s tights he lifts Rey into an electric chair position, the pair wobbling slightly as the champion stands with the challenger on his shoulders half way up a ladder. Slowly and surely Del Rio walks down each rung of the ladder until his feet hits canvas with Rey still perched on his upper back and with a quick glance at the turnbuckle behind him the aristocrat looks prepared to drop the luchador into the rough part of the corner. Del Rio stops to gloat for just a couple of seconds but this is all the time Mysterio needs to switch positions and use his legs to pull Alberto down and into the second rope with a hurricanrana. The Tampa crowd goes wild as Rey looks back at a dazed Del Rio on the second rope before sprinting straight at the ropes and charging back at his adversary. The Mexican legend grabs a hold of the top two ropes and swings around them with his legs splayed at his rival’s face but Alberto manages to duck under the attack and, when the luchador lands back into the ring, he absolutely cracks Rey in the ribs with a side kick, drapes his arm over his own and then drops him onto the canvas with a swinging neckbreaker!

The luchador offers no resistance as Del Rio scoops him up into his arms and lifts him over towards a corner, draping his legs over the top turnbuckle in a position of great woe for Mysterio. Del Rio then brings the smaller ladder, still in the ring but gone unused until now, over to the corner and places in horizontally across the chest of Rey, trapping him against the turnbuckle. With a quick grin at the WWE Universe, Del Rio steps back and then dropkicks the cold hard steel into the sternum of his adversary, a loud crack heard around the entire arena! The ladder falls to the canvas away from the challenger’s chest, giving Rey a slight reprieve if any but allowing Del Rio to begin his trek up the ladder...

Del Rio raised his arm up to try and get a good grip on the title belt but a pull on his foot caused him to miss by a large margin. The crowd cheer Rey on but Alberto swats the much smaller man away with his boot like a fly and tries again to stretch out his fingers and he almost clasps at the gold if not for Mysterio climbing over his body like it is an extension of the steel ladder. Rey walks all over the back of the champion and he reaches out for the championship now! Mysterio’s fingertips only grasped the edge of the title belt before he was shoved hard in the back, the luchador only just hanging on to the other side of the steel structure. Del Rio averted his attention from Rey’s athleticism in an attempt to win the match and couldn’t see Mysterio launch the first punch of many, the barrage almost knocking Del Rio senseless and off the ladder completely. Alberto just saves himself from a big fall by hanging on to the top rung of the steel before promptly grabbing the top of Rey’s mask and slamming his face into the very top of the steel behemoth. The pair trade punches with the crowd offering the usual ‘boo’ ‘yeah’ response and the ladder shakes violently with each shot, eventually toppling over and causing both competitors to fall... and both land on their feet! The crowd don’t get long to digest that great spot as the action continues straight away with Mysterio hitting a beautiful spinning heel kick and he then continues his offence by dropping a leg across the throat of a downed Del Rio. The champion gets off the mat relatively quickly and attempts to charge at Rey but the luchador drops his weight and uses his feet to trip Del Rio face first into the ladder on the canvas! To a big pop Del Rio blindly wanders away and this gives Rey the chance to hurdle the ladder he just used and ascend the corner, the Ultimate Underdog remaining perched for a few moments on the top turnbuckle. As Del Rio turns to face him Rey leaps off in a seated position but Alberto is able to catch the luchador in mid air, turn his body around and drop Mysterio face first onto the lying ladder near the corner!

The noise from the WWE Universe falters slightly as both men remain, exhausted and pained, on the canvas for a fair few moments. Del Rio rises up first, followed closely by Rey, and his first movement is yanking on his adversary’s arm and jumping into the air with both of his knees placed squarely under Mysterio’s bicep, a sick impact occurring as he hits the mat. A ladder is dragged into the fray once more and Del Rio opens up the steel weapon and places his nemesis’ hand inside the two parts before closing it with a shrill snap. The crowd unleash hate as Del Rio calls out to the crowd in a mixture of Spanish and English before heading towards the corner, leaping on to the second rope. With a crazed look in his eyes, Del Rio launches himself out in a senton position at his adversary but REY SLIPS HIS ARM OUT AND DEL RIO CRACKS BACK FIRST INTO THE LADDER! His entire body shaking with shock and pain, Del Rio remains on the steel structure with his eyes clenched shut and as Rey eventually stands to a stable base he sprints at the corner, leaps to the second rope and moonsaults out at the champion only to HIT NOTHING BUT COLD, HARD STEEL! Del Rio had his long time rival scouted and he was also able to avoid contact with a high flying manoeuvre, the crowd now on their feet to see who will able to drag themselves up first. The two wrestlers, champion and challenger, rise in identical motions but Del Rio manages to garner the first bit of offence, but his lazy attempt at a back suplex is countered as Mysterio flips over his back – but an incredible step-up enzuigiri stopped the luchador dead in his tracks! That kick, which connected perfectly with the side of Rey’s head, has left Rey down and out for the moment and has given Del Rio plenty of time to grab a ladder, the one still leaning against the ropes and which needs zero adjustment to set up, Alberto has set it up slightly to the right of the suspended championship...

A huge sigh of relief from the Tampa crowd as Rey just managed to loosen Del Rio’s grip on the gold by pushing his arm well away from his objective and then loosening his jaw slightly with a right hand. Mysterio shifts all of his weight towards the championship; both arms outstretched for the title but Del Rio takes advantage of the exposed midsection of his rival and unloads a shot to Rey’s stomach. After taking that sharp shot to the gut, Rey falls slightly over the ladder and Del Rio doesn’t waste the opportunity to drag him on to his shoulders in a fireman’s carry. On commentary Booker pleads with Del Rio not to do what he is thinking of, possibly a double knee gutbuster, from that high up as it could severely injure Rey. Del Rio turns to his side to leap out into the air, where gravity will do the rest, but a barrage of elbows stops Alberto’s thought process, Rey slipping out the back in the process. With Del Rio’s back turned to him Rey unleashes his fury with clubbing shot after shot to the champion’s bank, finishing off the sequence by dropkicking Alberto off the ladder – the Mexican shotting off the top rope! Rey just managed to stay on the steel structure by hooking his arm in a rung whilst he kicked out at his opponent but the woozy Del Rio, having just bounced neck first off the ropes, stumbles backwards and knocks the ladder over, knocking Rey down to the canvas on his back with a bang also!
Mysterio and Del Rio remain on the mat for a large chunk of time, the official checking on both men repeatedly but eventually Del Rio manages to get up. Clutching his neck and being assaulted with heat, Del Rio manages to get the giant ladder set up directly under the suspended title belt, albeit it taking him a while. Alberto slowly lifts his leg up to the first rung but a bit of movement in the corner of his eye causes him to turn, and he manages to intercept an attempted kick in the gut from Rey – kick to the side of the skull! Quick as that, Rey hits another shot to an unsuspecting World Heavyweight Champion and Alberto falls, dazed in to the second rope directly in front of the path to the title he was about to take. Slowly but surely Rey rebounds off the ropes and sprints at his adversary, swinging through the ropes with great difficulty and slamming into Del Rio with the 619! 619 connects! After dropping to a knee momentarily, Alberto gets back up and Rey doesn’t hesitate in spring boarding out for a seated senton – but no Alberto ducks, or falls out of the way rather, and Rey lands feet first on the middle rung, the challenger making his way oh so slowly up the ladder...

TWO RUNGS TO GO! DEL RIO ATTEMPTS TO GET HIS HEAD TOGETHER!

ONE RUNG TO GO!

With Rey just one foot away from the title belt, gleaming teasingly in the spotlight, Del Rio manages to make his way around the other side of the ladder and start his descent. The luchador fingers the championship belt now and Del Rio just thwarts him with a punch to the side of the head before leaping up and over his opponent in a sunset flip powerbomb, if only Rey didn’t counter in mid air with a hurricanrana! That move sent both men sprawling through the ring ropes and down to the outside but Rey appeared to take the grunt of the impact, slamming rib first intro the front of the announce table while Del Rio only rolled onto the outside padding. After dragging himself up from the ground, Del Rio sets about grabbing another ladder from the outside of the ring and setting it up so it lies horizontally across the gap between the announce table and the ring apron. A couple of slaps to the back of the head of a rising Mysterio ensue before he lifts the luchador up into his arms, cradling the challenger like a small child. Del Rio attempts to drop Rey across the ladder but the luchador struggles with everything to break out of the hold and just manages to flip out over the ladder before his nemesis could slam him onto the suspended steel. Alberto tries to regain his control over Mysterio but Rey quickly dropkicks the steel so that it slams into Del Rio’s stomach, causing him to be draped across the steel. Slowly, but with the crowd’s support, Mysterio makes his way onto the apron and instead of going through the ropes he climbs up the corner, proceeding to sit on the corner and face Del Rio, now lying stomach first over the ladder. Rey stands up high on the top ‘buckle and with a symbolic shimmying of his chest the crowd (and the announcers Cole: ‘oh God no!’) know what Mysterio wants to do. The luchador is about to spring forward but Del Rio rolls forward off the ladder away from danger and begins walking around the ring post, shushing the front rows boos with the swatting of his hand. Alberto rubs his ribs subconsciously and looks to step forward towards the ring – BUT AN INCREDIBLE MOONSAULT CUTS HIM SHORT! The World Heavyweight Champion wandered past the corner on which Mysterio was perched and Rey didn’t waste the opportunity to drop his rival, with style of course. Several replays of that fantastic move were shown repeatedly as Rey musters the strength to begin his mission back into the ring and on to the ladder, the giant structure which is still standing tall in the centre of the squared circle.

Rey retraces his steps, climbing back up the turnbuckle and looking as if he is attempting to leap straight from the corner onto the waiting ladder. A single hand stops that leap and Rey looks down to see Alberto Del Rio clawing at his boot, the frustration evident in the luchador’s eyes. Alberto manages to climb to level ground as the challenger but Rey makes the first move as he jumps at his adversary, locking his legs around the neck of Del Rio – hurricanrana to the outside! No! The champion stops Rey in mid move by clasping his arms around his adversary’s lower body, Del Rio letting Rey hang upside for just a few moments before quickly transitioning him into a fireman’s carry position. The WWE Universe try to get a good view, the arena silenced now as ALBERTO DEL RIO DROPS REY MYSTERIO FROM HIS SHOULDERS AND ONTO THE SUSPENDED LADDER! A giant crack accompanies the impact, Rey staying prone across the steel for a large amount of time after – a mix of pain and shock streaked across his face. Meanwhile, Del Rio drops to the apron and practically falls through the ropes before dragging himself along the canvas towards the steel structure, taking the extra time to go towards the side of the ring furthest from the announce desk, and Rey Mysterio, perhaps to counter the defensive tactics Mysterio has used so far ....

Del Rio is trying to unclasp the title but a right hand catches Del Rio, Rey has climbed up the entire ladder! Alberto relinquishes his hold on the title and this gives time for Rey to try and win the championship but a right hand from the champion loosens the luchador’s grip. After both men take a quick breather, trying to recover, the pair both makes a grab for the title at the exact same moment. A back and forth tug of war takes place over the big gold title belt, and Mysterio gains sole possession after head butting his adversary squarely in the nose. Rey doesn’t attempt to unclasp the championship however, he swings the belt at Del Rio’s head, and Alberto only just ducks in time – but on the second way around it hits the champion in the back of the skull! A dazed Del Rio drops his head onto the top of the ladder and he rests there while Rey tries to grab the championship... not an easy task as the title is swinging wildly around in the air after making contact with Del Rio’s skull. After a couple of attempts at grabbing the World Heavyweight Championship Rey Mysterio grabs on to it and holds it steady, now grasping at the ladder straps to remove it from its suspension. The crowd go wild as Mysterio has just unclasped... NOTHING! DEL RIO HOOKS BOTH OF HIS ARMS UNDER THE TOP RUNG AND SWUNG FORWARDS, LANDING AN ENZUIGIRI! The enzuigiri connected to the stem of Mysterio’s neck and the force of the shot causes Rey to fall backwards, only being saved from a nasty fall because his leg became trapped in a rung. Del Rio slowly gets himself back into place on the top of the ladder and with the ring raining heat down he reaches up, grasps the championship and...

PULLS IT DOWN TO HIS CHEST, DEL RIO HAS GRABBED THE CHAMPIONSHIP, THIS LADDER MATCH IS OVER! (17:11)

The bell chimes and Del Rio roars in ecstasy as he raises the World Heavyweight Championship high above his head to the dismay of the crowd. Del Rio remains a top the giant steel structure for a while, gloating with his title as several replays of the match’s big moments are shown to the pay-per-view audience. Eventually Alberto wanders down the ladder and slips through the ropes before heading up the ramp with a giant grin on his face, ignoring the jeers from the fans in the front rows.

After a final noble pose with his recently retained championship on the ramp, Del Rio throws the belt over his shoulder and walks towards the luxury vehicle that he parked beside the ramp during his entrance.

Michael Cole: Once again Alberto Del Rio proves that he is one of the greatest young champions in recent history, overcoming a very game Rey Mysterio here at Extreme Rules.

Josh Matthews: Mysterio brought everything he had to Tampa tonight but it wasn’t enough to end Del Rio’s championship reign, the Mexican Aristocrat pulling out an incredible move, a well timed enzuigiri, to gain the time to pull down the title belt from the rafters.

Michael Cole: Well Alberto Del Rio has retained his World Heavyweight Championship in a gruelling ladder match, but I guess you already knew that.

Mysterio has remained stuck in the ladder for Del Rio’s entire celebration, the match official still unable to determine how he is going to free Rey without causing any more significant pain. The referee finally moves in to relieve Rey of his obvious pain but a fair amount of noise from the crowd causes the official to turn around... AND HE IS SHOVED TO THE CANVAS, BEFORE BEING ROLLED OUT OF THE RING... BY CODY RHODES! The masked freak has shown up to Extreme Rules! Unusually, Cody painstakingly removes Mysterio from the ladder, carefully making sure that the luchador’s knee doesn’t come into any more contact with steel. But the moment Cody lifts Rey from out of the rung he turns him over on to his back, locks in an inverted headlock and drives Mysterio face first into the canvas with the Cross Rhodes! Cody runs a hand slowly over his plastic mask, his features suddenly calming and he then steps through the ropes, no entrance music evident, and walks quickly up the ramp, not turning back, silkily disappearing behind the curtain.

Booker T: I have a feeling this isn’t the last we have seen of Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio...

Last Man Standing. No pinfalls, no submissions, no countouts, and no disqualifications.

The video package now shows us clips from Cena’s past Last Man Standing matches with the likes of Batista, Edge, and Umaga. Each match clip ends with Cena holding up the WWE Championship and faintly “The Champ is Here” can be heard in the background. This is once again overtaken, the screen becomes fuzz and again you hear the Miz shout “Awesome”. We now see Miz’s arm being raised in victory at Wrestlemania 27 with his WWE championship in hand.

Consider this a glimpse into the future. I’m going to be carrying my WWE championship after yet another victory over John Cena. I won’t just beat Cena, I’ll destroy him.

Everything cuts to black. The screen is sucked in and we are now at the past edition of Raw. Both men locked in a staredown.

Defeat me without help.

Really? Really? Really?

You’ll be a top dog, there is no denying your talent Miz. Your work ethic reminds me of my own. Prove to me, prove to these people, prove to yourself that you have what it takes to do it on your own.

WWE’s head official, Mike Chioda is handed the WWE Championship and he raises it in the air for all to see. Chioda hands it to the outside staff and rings the bell. And the main event, Last Man Standing match for the WWE championship is underway. Cena and Miz circle the ring and in vintage Cena match fashion the crowd has already started the “Lets Go Cena” “Cena Sucks” chants. The two men are quick to lock up with a collar and elbow tie up. Cena has the advantage with a headlock and he flips over and grounds Miz. Miz tries to pry out of it, but Cena is too strong for Miz to break the hold. Cena continues to wrench on the hold as Miz tries to maneuver himself to his knees to ease the pain. Miz gets to his knees and manages to get himself back to his feet and he pushes Cena off. Cena turns back around, but Miz nails him immediately with a knee to the midsection. Miz then bounces off the ropes and hits Cena straight in the head with a knee followed up by a neckbreaker, ala the Reality Check. Cena crashes to the mat and holds his historically injured neck. Miz yells at Chioda to start the count to end the match.

Miz throws his arms up and charges Cena, but Cena ducks down and body drops Miz right over the top rope and crashing to the outside. Miz rolls around on the protective mats, clutching his back. Cena rolls right outside and lifts Miz up into position for an Attitude Adjustment on the outside. Miz is smart and gets a few elbow shots in and slides off Cena’s back. Miz now from behind shoves Cena right into the apron, chest first. Miz rolls Cena back into the ring and is quick to follow suit. Cena is on one knee as Miz gives him some assistance getting to his feet. Miz grabs onto Cena’s head and nails him with some stiff elbow shots that send Cena back to one knee. Miz bounces off the closest ropes and clocks Cena in the head with a huge boot that knocks Cena to the mat. Miz waves his arms that it is over as Chioda begins his count.

Miz breaks the count as he drives his knee right into the spine of Cena, knocking him back outside. Miz rolls out of the ring and heads towards the timekeeper and grabs a chair. Miz pulls the chair back and goes to crack Cena over the back, but Cena nails Miz in the midsection with a quick jab. Cena comes back with another jab and Miz drops the chair. Cena pops up to his feet and nails Miz with a flying shoulder block. Miz rolls around on the outside as Cena tries to catch his breath. Cena is up, but Miz is trying to roll himself under the ring. Cena grabs Miz’s foot before Miz can get completely under. Cena pulls him out, but Miz has a trick up his sleeve as he throws some sort of powder into the face of John Cena. Cena is blinded as Miz pulls himself back to his feet. Cena is trying to rub the powder out of his eyes and Miz sneaks behind him and pushes Cena into the steel ring post. The challenger bounces off the post and goes flying to the opposite side of the ring. Miz orders Chioda to come out and count Cena out. Chioda follows the command and begins to count out Cena.

Cena is up as he props himself against the announce table. Miz charges Cena, but Cena ducks and it sends me flying on top of the announce team. Cole, Josh, and Booker remove their headsets and get out of harm’s way. Cena makes his way around the mess of announcers, chairs, and wires as Miz tries to crawl his way out. Cena catches Miz and pulls up and bounces his head off the announce table. Miz’s head smacks off the table and the momentum knocks him into one of the announcer’s seat. Cena pulls the chair out from behind the table and begins to roll it and crashes it straight into the security wall. Cenation pops as Cena is finally in this match after sustaining a beatdown from Miz early on. Cena gives Chioda the ok to begin the count on Miz.

The Mizfits pop as they see Miz ain’t backing down from Cena. Cena nods his head and makes his way to The Miz. Both men start hammering each other with lefts and rights. The crowd is behind each and every shot. The crowd seems to be showing respect to Miz and Cena. Miz has the advantage as he blocks off a Cena shot and counters with one of his own. Miz sees a chance to charge and he bolts towards Cena, but the challenger counters as he lifts Miz up and drops him face first on the ring apron. Miz is draped onto the apron and he looks to be out cold as Cena gains his composure right next to him. Cena rolls Miz back into the ring. Cena pulls himself up to the apron and goes to go through the middle rope, but it seems Miz was playing possum as he kicks Cena as he entered the ring. Cena falls into the ring and Miz starts laying the boots into Cena. Miz backs off Cena and he roams around the ring, very Randy Orton like. Miz seems to be garnering more and more fans with his performance here tonight. Cena begins to pull himself up, but Miz gets impatient and he grabs Cena and whips him into the corner. Miz eyes Cena down and takes off and clocks Cena with his trademark corner clothesline. Miz has a huge smirk on his face as he does the Hulk Hogan ear wave to the crowd, which they eat up. Instead of going into the ring Miz pulls himself through the ropes and begins to climb the turnbuckle. Miz is going to a spot where he rarely goes. Miz waits for Cena to turn around and when he does Miz takes the leap, but Cena rolls out of the way and Miz crashes down on the mat below. Cena takes this as a chance to once again catch his breath as Miz rolls around on the mat from the landing. Cena gets to his feet and he waits as Miz crawls towards the ropes for assistance. Miz is up and when he turns he is greeted with a kick to the midsection. Cena follows up with a running bulldog. Cena is now pumped as he is in the driver’s seat here and looks as if he could be on the verge of capturing his 10th world championship. Miz gets back to his feet and takes a swing at Cena, but Cena ducks and catches Miz in a belly to back suplex and transitions it into a sit out powerbomb. Cena looks around and throws his hand up in the air. We all know what time it is as Cena looks down at the Miz and does his trademark “You Can’t See Me” motion as the crowd says it along with him. Cena bounces off the ropes and drops a little Five Knuckle Shuffle across the Miz’s face. Cena throws his fingers in the air and looks poised for an Attitude Adjustment. Miz staggers to his feet and turns around and Cena throws him up on his shoulders. Miz wiggles around, trying to keep Cena off balance. Cena is moving around the ring as Miz tries to grab hold of the ropes, but is just fingertips away. Cena finally stops in the middle of the ring, but Miz is still moving around. Cena goes to flip him off, but Miz in the nick of time nails Cena with two elbow shots. The shots force Cena to release Miz, who falls off Cena’s shoulders and plants the challenger with a DDT. Both men lay on the mat as Miz scoots over to the ropes for assistance. Miz tells Chioda to begin the count as Cena lays face first on the ring mat.

Miz breaks Chioda’s count and drives his foot into the back of Cena’s skull and plants Cena face first on the mat again. Miz lifts Cena up and looks for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Cena won’t let Miz get it locked in. Cena counters with an elbow shot, forcing Miz to break the hold. Cena is quick to follow it up with a Fisherman Suplex. With the impact of the suplex Miz incidentally rolls out of the ring. Cena pops up looking for the champion, but he is nowhere to be found. Cena heads to the outside of the ring as Miz lies on the mat. Cena makes his way towards the champ, but Miz again is playing possum and low blows the approaching Cena. Cena falls to his knees clutching his man parts as Miz grabs hold of a monitor from the announce table. Miz rips out the wires and winds back and bashes the monitor across the side of John Cena’s head. The monitor cracks open and Miz throws it to the side. Chioda jumps between Miz and Cena to make sure John is ok. You can see the blood trickling from the side of Cena’s head as Miz demands Chioda start counting. Chioda seems hesitant about it, but obliges as there are no rules.

NO! Miz thought he had it won, but Cena manage to prop himself against the security wall and Chioda broke the count right before ten. Cena slouches down as he can barely stand up. More blood has serviced as Miz argues with Chioda that Cena wasn’t standing with his own power. Miz is clearly frustrated and he runs towards Cena. Cena quickly dodges out of the way and Miz crashes into the wall, causing it to crumble down. Miz now lays in a heap of rubble in the pit designated for the ring announcers and time keeper. The security wall is in shambles as John Cena pulls himself up courtesy of the steel ring post. Chioda checks on Cena’s condition and Cena gives him the ok to begin to the ten count.

Miz is up! Miz is on spaghetti legs as he stands in between all the broken pieces of the security wall. Miz stumbles out and falls to his knees as Cena looks on flabbergasted. The whole side of Cena’s head is covered in blood as he makes his way over to Miz. Miz tries to keep Cena away by throwing any obstacle in his path. Miz pulls the ring stairs, but Cena walks right by them. Miz then tries the chair he pulled out earlier by throwing it at the oncoming challenger, but Cena avoids it. Miz has seemingly run out of options and Cena now has him in his possession. Cena nails Miz with a huge right hand, sending the champ staggering up the entrance ramp. Cena follows with another right that knocks Miz down onto the steel. Miz staggers up and jump down to the technical pit by the stage. Cena is right behind him. Miz gets behind one of the luggage carts for the heavy equipment and toys with the idea of running Cena over. Cena moves one way and Miz blocks it off with the rolling case. Cena looks around the crowd and Miz is mocking Cena from behind the cart. Cena shrugs his shoulders, steps back and jumps the cart. The crowd goes bonkers at the high risk move by Cena. Miz couldn’t believe it as Cena is now beating him down. Cena gets up and lets out a roar that the crowd eats up. Cena lifts Miz up and puts him in position for the Attitude Adjustment. Cena nails the move and Miz lands hard onto the rolling cart that he put into play. The thud echoes through the arena and Cena nods his head at Chioda to begin the count.

Unbeliveable! Miz sat up and got on his feet and staggered away. Cena just smirks as he is clearly impressed with Miz’s toughness tonight. Miz is half way down the ramp and Cena follows him. Cena grabs Miz from behind and goes to bash Miz’s head into the security wall, but Miz blocks and nails another low blow. Cena backs away and Miz comes from behind and drops Cena with a Skull Crushing Finale right onto the steel ramp leading to the ring. Miz falls to the ground in a seated position, clearly winded. Miz waves over at Chioda to start counting Cena out.

And Miz can’t believe it! Cena pushed himself up as he clearly doesn’t know where he is. Miz sneaks behind Cena and goes for another Skull Crushing Finale, but Cena blocks it. Miz tries again, but Cena nails an elbow to Miz’s sternum and follows it up with a hip toss. Miz’s back bounces off the steel ramp and Cena falls due to exhaustion. Miz rolls over and pulls himself up with the help of the security wall. Cena is up and heading toward the ring. Cena rolls in and Miz is right behind him. The two break out into another fist fight, with the crowd behind each one. This time Cena gets the advantage nailing Miz with four consecutive shots, sending the champ into the ropes. Miz bounces off and Cena nails a back body drop. Miz’s momentum from the landing takes him to the outside. Cena whips the sweat from his forehead and ducks out of the ring. Cena looks around the outside. Cena seems torn between whether to use the stairs or the announce table. Cena lets the crowd decide and they lose it when he points towards the announce table. Cena rips apart the announce table as he checks the dried blood on the side of his head. Cena lifts Miz up into an Attitude Adjustment and drops him through the announce table. The Miz is out cold as he lays in the carnage of the broken table. Cena kneels over as Chioda checks on him and then checks on Miz. Chioda starts his count.

Chioda breaks the count as a man dressed in all black with a black ski mask has jumped the barricade and nailed Cena in the back of the neck with a lead pipe. Cena rolls around in pain, as we all know about his neck history. Chioda tries to get rid of this mystery man, but he shoves Chioda to the ground. The masked man starts to drive knees into the neck of Cena. He looks around as the crowd is just pouring huge amounts of heat at him. This mystery man grabs the steel stairs and lifts them over his head. He measures up the stairs with Cena’s neck and drops them down on to the neck of Cena with such force that the stairs go bouncing around the outside. This unknown man runs back through the crowd as everyone watches on in a state of confusion. Miz has finally come to and drapes himself on one of the announcer’s chairs. His eyes are glazed over and he may very well have a concussion as he tells Chioda to count out Cena.

Miz is still sitting in the announcers chair as Chioda hands him his championship. Miz just holds the title as Chioda signals for medical attention for John Cena.

Michael Cole-Miz wins! Miz wins! Miz wins!

Josh Mathews-C’mon now Cole. We all know that was Alex Riley. Miz knew he couldn’t do it alone and this was his only way to live up to his word.

Michael Cole-Always have to make excuse Josh. You have no proof that was Alex Riley. You just can’t admit that Miz is truly better than John Cena.

Booker T-We may not know the identity of that masked man, but John Cena is seriously hurt. He hasn’t moved a muscle since the bell rang.

Booker takes his headset of and he goes to check on the condition of John Cena as he is heavily concerned. Miz has made his way back into the ring, but doesn’t celebrate. He watches as Cena is attended to by the medical staff, clutching his WWE Championship.

Michael Cole-I apologize for overreacting just a second ago. John Cena is seriously hurt and we are running out of time. For any further information head to WWE.com and watch Raw tomorrow night. Hopefully John is alright. Good night everybody.

The screen fades to black as the medical staff gets Cena strapped to a stretcher and begin to wheel him off.​

I want to give my main thoughts on the event rather then the standard review. Going into the event I felt it was underwhelming to be honest. Coming of WrestleMania the predictability factor was going to be high as it always is. You can't be blamed for that at all. However I found that most of the main matches had a clear winner going into it. Once again this isn't your fault, smart booking really. The right people won, however you could see it coming.

I would like to start with my biggest problem, the World Championship match up. I have stressed my thoughts on this in the discussion thread but I'll do it again, this wasn't something I would buy if it was single brand event. If this was a Smackdown only PPV and the match you would have headline was Del Rio vs Mysterio I wouldn't buy. It's not that I don't like them (big fan), but the build was lackluster. In no situation was Mysterio getting the belt tonight. No way. Del Rio was winning this without a doubt. He had only just won the title and I would have liked to see Edge getting his rematch tonight. Then have Christian come out to screw Edge for payback or something. I thought of this as if Theo wasn't booking, this was your event. This was the main match, the money maker so to say. The build for me wasn't interesting, why, because we have Rhodes waiting for Mysterio. It was clear the title was staying, making this match skippable. The match itself was well written and good but I still fail to see why this was the choice for your first PPV in this thread.

Moving on we have Rhodes and Mysterio going into a feud...again. I'm not looking forward to this. Myself and GCB have said, get away from the storylines done by the WWE. But yet we look to be heading back. Rhodes lost at Mania I believe which means he will probably go over at Over the Limit. From here we head to CP or something right? My main problem with this is we have already seen it this year. I have seen this feud and the WWE did it well. You are going to be compared to what they did. It will need to be different but better. Another thing I see with this feud is the end. I'll make a prediction mask vs mask. I can see this being the road you take to get Cody back to being dashing again. It's smart, but we have already seen the feud.

Edge vs Christian was good, I'm happy to see Christian go over in an exciting match. Allows for an angry Edge to want a rematch, getting us to the next event. I expect a TLC match somewhere down the road. Just seems like the right move for this feud to end. I liked the match and it was probably the best built up from the ones you gave us. Not much to say but well done with this one. I enjoyed it.

As you can see I'm judging on a different level as this is a PPV. From your side of things I would say it was solid. Nothing amazing, the main problem I have is why Del Rio vs Mysterio was the main match from Smackdown. It lacked emotion and any chance of Mysterio winning. I know you're not stupid so Rey wasn't winning. If Rey went over it was going to kill any cred Del Rio had. You made the right choice with the winner. You should be happy with getting to the PPV and proud of what you have done. I say congratulations and keep going my friend. You have gotten better each week since coming to the section. I look at this as a stepping stone toward better things.

Best Parts of the event:

• Alberto Del Rio retaining the title
• Christian winning
• Mysterio not winning
• The World Championship not changing
• Did I mention the title not switching?

Congratulations on the event Peep, keep going. You have become one of the better bookers around here in such a short time my friend. This review may sound harsh but don't take it so hard. If I were to grade it B+ would be fair. Nice work.

GCB's 'EXTREME RULES' REVIEW:

First off Peep and Theo, congratulations on completing the first PPV, hopefully there will be plenty more to follow.

I'm going to post this review in both threads. I've read the PPV beforehand so now I'm simply commenting on what I like and don't like. I'm not a fan of live reviews as they tend to just be a repetition of the actual PPV!

I liked the opening promo video, it refreshed the situations going into the PPV without being too much. Was particularly looking forward to seeing how Peep went with the Edge and Christian feud and Theo with the Cena and Miz match which had me guessing more than any other on the card. One thing I would suggest, knowing what comes later, is that however good these promo video things are, they begin to lose their impact after 2/3 IMO. There were quite a few and, by the main event, I was bored of them despite their quality. Maybe something to think about in future PPV's ...

Ziggler and Morrison: Well done Theo, I enjoyed this opening match. The build had been nice and simple, two young guys with potential looking to prove a point and get ahead of the other in the chase for the top. For me, I thought Ziggler could use the win more than Morrison but I guess that depends on what is coming next. Morrison won the match - not sure it needed to be 2 out of 3, a longer match with maybe a few more kick outs might have been better - and I expect he will now target Miz in the future. Another criticism, which may result from needing three finishes in one match, was that there was a little too much Vickie Guerrero. I want to see Dolph take a step up the heel charts and not rely on VG. A good start though, well done.

Rey Mysterio interview: Now, Peep, this is where I stray into some sense of agreement with Da Prophet in that it gets a little bit too 'samey' as real WWE. Mysterio's promo was yet another 'underdog' Rey promo and I got the impression immediately from this that there was no way that Alberto Del Rio would leave without the World Championship later. I'll touch more on the situation later but a thought I did have would be, based on that promo, Mysterio heading into a Jericho mode where he puts over the younger guys. I think Mysterio putting over the stacked deck of young SD heels would work better than Jericho IRL. Mysterio is a big name and wins for the likes of Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and Wade Barrett would really help establish them.

Corre vs. Show/Kane/Kofi: This match would have been a non-interest one for me without the twist of the titles being on the line in the way you did, good idea Peep. There is a lot of options to you when you do things like this and it made me wonder whether someone was going to get a leg up and maybe a face/heel turn from it, similar to what I've done with Justin Gabriel turning on Barrett and Nexus after he won the WWE Title for Barrett. Kane or Big Show winning the IC title for Kofi could have led to an interesting situation with Kofi for example. You got the tension in the Corre over well and showed that, like me, it is Gabriel that will bust out of there to follow Jackson. Big Zeke making the mistake that costs Kofi could result in some interesting feuds for Over the Limit in a few weeks - I'd go Triple Threat Kofi vs. Ezekiel vs. Barrett but I'll wait and see where you go with it.

Sheamus vs. Sin Cara: Theo, here is my biggest issue with the RAW show! I like the way that Sin Cara has debuted in WWE and how you're carrying it on but, for me, it is difficult to get behind a dominant babyface ... Sin Cara is running over people and I think turning him into Mysterio #2 might be a mistake. Falls Count Anywhere would have been perfect for Sheamus to pull out the dirty tricks and retain the title; make Sin Cara really work for this one. Undefeated streaks on debut belong to dominant heels for me. Loved the idea of the moonsault slam through the announce table but can't help wondering if that was realistic with (a) Sheamus and (b) using the announce table for it. Too dangerous in real life but I guess that is the beauty of BT!

Kendrick and London: Hmmm. I loved the vignettes teasing their arrival, Peep, but I have to say that the arrival of these two has left me a little underwhelmed in the end. I missed their tag team run a few year back so all I remember is the early Paul London character and 'THE' Brian Kendrick character that brought inm Big Zeke. With the big build up, I expected something more - though I can't say who! I guess this is the start of the rebuilding job on the Tag Team division though so I am looking forward to seeing how you get on with it, the pair of you.

Swagger vs. Masters: Great to see Swagger on the PPV and demanding a move to RAW virtually. However, after Long's announcement, there was never going to be any other result than a Swagger win. I sense that Swagger won't get the draft to RAW that he wants and he will be forced to battle away on SMACKDOWN. His 'feud' with Teddy Long has the potential to be entertaining.

CM Punk vs. Randy Orton: The build for this has been good especially with the return of Skip Sheffield to put Orton back on the burner. I think Punk needed the win here and having Orton win with the surprise RKO (again!) does nothing to help Punk and Skip. With little build time ahead of Over the Limit, I think you could have got another Punk - Orton match in easily by having Skip interfere in some way and help Punk to the win. Randy Orton will always be a main event player but you missed a trick to make Punk one - in your BT - here as he needed a big win at this point.

Edge vs. Christian: I have criticised you, Peep, for having this match and feud and I stand by what I say. Edge vs. Christian has been done so often that it is boring beyond belief BUT I will give you props for doing a better job than I expected with it. Having Edge as the heel was a good idea in the end and I liked the way Christian got under his skin. The build up has been done well so I was interested and having Christian get the win was a good way to make him a main eventer. Edge's attack afterwards suggests that this feud continues which is fine now you have set it apart from the other E&C feuds already done on BT and other booking sites. I'll comment on the timing of it in a while.

World Championship match: Proph, I don't agree with you. Alberto Del Rio needed this win for me and Peep has got it right to give it him against Rey-Rey. I was sceptical of Rey vs. Alberto because we have seen it already but I don't think we had a big blow off match between them so this was good for me to end their feud. Del Rio needed a strong win and he got that which I like. I agree with Peep that the WWE drops the ball by giving the heels bullsh*t wins too often and not giving them wins that make them dangerous. A heel can cheat to win but they can also just have a rotten attitude and be very good at what they do. This is a form of heat as well. I remember watching Miz' real life WWE Title reign and was screaming out for WWE to give him a big win over somebody - he needed to beat Orton or Cena clean to put him over as not just being an ass but also has a legitimate threat. For me, Peep has done that here with Del Rio. Cody Rhodes' attack on Rey after the match suits me as it shows that Rey won't get another shot at the title at OTL. In my opinion, Peep, you got this one right.

WWE Championship, Miz vs. Cena: This was a good, solid match and I was happy to see Miz win it as I think avoiding Cena as champion is always for the best. Cena doesn't need the title and Miz - like I said above - needs big wins to put him further over. Having him win with the outside interference when he said he wanted to do it all by himself was a good move when you coupled it with his reaction afterwards - no celebration, just looking at the injured Cena. The obvious culprit is Alex Riley BUT I think there is a twist in this - the first person I thought of was The Rock. Could it be him or will it be someone else? Now I have a question to watch RAW for, good move. A heel to feud with Cena or a face to feud with Miz?

OVERALL:
I agree with Proph that in some ways the PPV was predictable but I don't think you can be criticised for that. WrestleMania 27 was poorly booked for me and your starting point means that you had to wrap those feuds up before moving on. I want you to now move on and I don't want to see too many of these feuds continuing. Edge and Christian look set to continue and I think there is Rhodes and Rey to come as well. On RAW, the canvas is now blank. Morrison and Miz seems likely to me but the draft will make a lot of changes and makes it hard to call.

I don't like grades but I will because it was a PPV: B+

With new storylines and some continued improvement from both of you, I fully expect an even better show next time out!

Friday Night Smackdown! Preview
Orlando, Florida, 6th May 2011

The Smackdown machine will roll into Orlando, Florida after an exciting few days in the WWE Universe. Following the thrilling Extreme Rules event on Sunday and the ground breaking draft the following night, it is once again time for the superstars, both old and new, of the blue brand to shine. After an exciting yet brutal ladder match contested between the reigning champion Alberto Del Rio and the challenger Rey Mysterio, it was the former who grabbed the gold from the rafters and retained the World Heavyweight Championship. The Mexican aristocrat is set to speak on the next edition of Smackdown, as he apparently has something to get off his chest before he learns of the next superstar to step up and challenge him for his beloved title belt. What will the greatest champion in Smackdown history have to say, and will we find out who will challenge him at Over the Limit?

If Rey Mysterio's defeat on Sunday night wasn't bad enough, he was planted into the mat with a vicious Cross Rhodes from a psychotic Cody Rhodes moments after the match was concluded. Following the pay-per-view event Smackdown general manager informed WWE.com that he has enforced a strict no-touch stipulation between the long time rivals, Mysterio and Rhodes. The pair are unable to touch the other unless in a sanctioned match. Undashing Cody Rhodes will be in Orlando and he has been given time to speak his mind, will his frustration boil over on Smackdown and possibly cost the former tag team champion his job?

The match between former tag team partners and best friends Edge and Christian truly lived up to its extreme moniker as the two beat the holy hell out of one another. Captain Charisma managed to roll Edge up and capture the three count, much to the delight of the WWE Universe but to the severe dismay of the Rated R Superstar. Edge assaulted his rival with several stiff chair shots to the back and then finished off his act of treachery with a jarring spear. After the damage he took at Extreme Rules as well as a devastating Chokeslam at the hands of the newly drafted Kane on Monday Night, it is possible Christian won't even be at Smackdown on Friday.

Smackdown is set to lose one of its most talented stars and the Intercontinental Championship all in one as Wade Barrett was drafted to RAW on Monday Night. Barrett had an incredible run as a member of the Smackdown roster, including impressive victories at both Wrestlemania and Extreme Rules in which he led the Corre to victory. The Englishman has been granted a portion of Fridays show in order to give a farewell address from Smackdown, but will the rest of the blue brand be able to put up with the pompous champion on his final night? Speaking of the Corre, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel's WWE Tag Team Championships have become exclusive property of Friday Night Smackdown. The South African sensation Justin Gabriel was on fire on Sunday night, being key in eliminating two members of the opposing team. But the duo are going to have to be on their toes as a variety of tandems will be gunning for the gold hanging around their waists. Will Gabriel and his tag team partner be able to keep the momentum rolling as they are set out to battle a range of new tag teams?

Also, Jack Swagger, despite using both a low blow and a steel chair, was able to take down the powerful Chris Masters with his patented ankle lock. It can be confirmed that Swagger won't be featured on Fridays broadcast as Theodore Long stated that 'there just isn't enough time I'm afraid, especially considering the amount of talent I recieved for Smackdown in the drafts'. Long is dead right, the blue brand received Sheamus, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan amongst others and Teddy had some choice words for one of the latest members of the roster, Bryam - 'he truly is one of the greatest wrestlers in the company, I cannot wait to watch him grow on Friday nights'. In other news, Paul London and Brian Kendrick made their return to the WWE at Extreme Rules, will they be on Smackdown to finally 'save' the brand? Also, in action will be Santino Marella going up against the Long Island Loner Curt Hawkins. Will Hawkins keeps his championship ambitions alive or will Marella and the Cobra pop the recluse's bubble?​
