Wrestling Opinions You Don't Have the Guts to Post

I find pretty much any wrestling prior to the 1990s totally unwatchable.

Goldberg would have been 10x better in the ring had he started in the WWF as opposed to WCW.

Chris Jericho was slightly above average at his peak and nothing more.

Can't believe I have to say this aloud, but Edge was definitely better than Christian.

X-Pac was underrated.

Raven should have been a main eventer in both WCW and WWE.

I'm not really afraid to post any of these things. I t just seems that this thread has evolved to a "Post shit you think most people will disagree with" thread.

Oh yeah, NXT is mostly unwatchable to me. The Takeover specials are fantastic and once in a while they have a bust ass match on the weekly show but other than that, it isn't much different than the WCW Worldwide shows they used to air Saturday afternoons back in the day. Jobbers and squashes.

I'm not bothered about most matches, I prefer promos. The art of storytelling in a match seems to be long gone.

well said.

I can only pay so much attention to a rematch of a great match that will have practically the same spots but no real storytelling whatsoever. It's all good having 20000000 different moves to show off but tell a story ffs.

When I was a kid I was a fan of the Dynamic Dudes. No clue why I just recall always focusing my attention when they would appear on television.

Aside from Ron Simmons I fail to see any overwhelming argument for the WWE putting their top championship on an African American talent. Those that scream racism towards the WWE just come off as j/o’s.

Removing anything X Pac or wrestling spoof related I don’t mind Chyna’s porn library. Every now and then when her name pops up in the dirt sheets I will go over to porn hub and check out a video.

If you are over the age of twenty-five and regularly visit wrestling news sites and overly engage in wrestling related forums there is something not quite right about you. Dare I say borderline loser in some aspects. I happen to fall into this group and have been for eleven years.

9/10 of that shit on tv, including a good portion of your favourite wrestlers, is just to fill time between the important bits, which is Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Daniel Bryan and the comedy characters. And only 2 of those appear with any sort of regularity.

Jericho is as smooth as butter mixed with solid concrete. He could do more technical moves but horrid fluidity in that ring. He looked like a bumpkin. Also I have said this before.

I thought Chris Hero should have been given a chance on the main roster and that he would have become upper mid easy, EASY!

WWE is, was, and always will be the greatest Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment company of all time.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title is the richest prize in all of Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment.

Vince McMahon is the greatest Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment promoter of all time.

Triple H is the Best for Business.

WWE might not be as good, currently, as it once was, but it’s still better than every single promotion today.

Now that I think about it, these really are not wrestling opinions I don't have the guts to post. I’m sure I’ve said these things before.

The NWA "domed globe" title is the most prestigious championship in the history of wrestling.

The NWA/WCW "big gold" title is the second most prestigious and most beautiful championship in the history of wrestling.

The WWF "eagle" title is the best looking world title WWF/E ever produced.

The term Sports Entertainment has never bothered me.

I don't get why anyone watches indies. It's like watching minor league baseball. Sure you'll find some gems but they are nothing compared to the majors.

Kevin Owens needs to lose weight. That's just plain unhealthy (nothing to do with appearance, just health). Wish he would realize that as he seems talented.

I honestly believe Cena has never taken steroids/HGH. He's just a freak of nature.

I had no problem with The Great Khali being world champion.

This is basically our equivalent of Wreddit's Zero Fucks Friday.

I mostly agree with KB's assessment of Japanese wrestling. Potato fests are, at best, boring to watch or, at worst, difficult to watch. Strong style is totally counter to my idea of what professional wrestling should be.

Shinsuke Nakamura is an incredible character who oozes charisma but I still lose interest when he and his opponent just start booting each other. I much prefer his matches with non-Japanese opponents.

Bryan, post-2008 Jericho and Savage (depending on your definition of "small") are head and shoulders better than any other smaller Wwe champions or top guys from Hulkamania onwards. Thats Hart, HBK, Eddie and anybody else that may cause you to say "steady on!"

Agreed.

Strong style is just a fancy way of saying "I'm a prick". The allure of wrestling, especially once you've passed the age of reason and understand it's not "real", is the suspension of disbelief. If you want to watch guys actually kick the shit out of each other, watch UFC. If you want to enjoy (sometimes) phenomenal story-telling to the tune of physical (albeit choreographed) combat, watch pro-wrestling.

Like Austin always says, there's nothing wrong with working snug. Snug/tight just means you're reaching an expert level of being able to do the job of *not* hurting your opponent while simultaneously convincing the audience you actually are.

Also, the abruptness of the endings in Japanese matches really annoys me. Like how someone will kick out of two finishers, then get pinned because he took a bunch of slaps to the face. It builds to a crescendo, then dies down, then it ends. It's bad storytelling.

Although, to their credit, the Japanese do comedy wrestling better than anyone.

By the time of his anti-American gimmick, Bret Hart was fantastic at interviews. This misconception that he was bad with a microphone almost definitely originates from the story where he had to put on shades because his eyes were giving him away.

Yuuup. I watched, what was it-- Wrestle Kingdom? Jim Ross didn't seem to understand why matches would just end either. Somebody would land a random knee and JR would be like, "Oh, here's a cover. Oh, it's over."

Seriously, stop saying so many things I agree with. It's weird!

And one more thing, because I don't think I've said this anywhere particularly visible, but Roman Reigns has thrived this year despite bad booking.

The Royal Rumble was built on the premise that Daniel Bryan was a chump and that The Big Slow and Corporate Lame - all due respect - were genuine contenders for Brock Lesnar's title. That didn't work for some reason.

Reigns built respect and sympathy for taking a brutal beating from Brock Lesnar, which was tossed out the window the next night when he was marched out for a nothing tag match looking totally fine.

This is the same thread where we've praised The Big Show but don't say that anybody was positive about the Reigns versus Big Show feud or looking forward to their match.

At every turn, in the face of sometimes overwhelming hostility, Reigns has delivered in spades.

I'll make a similar post in December when I nominate Reigns for wrestler of the year. Right now, he has show-stealing matches with Bryan, Lesnar, Wyatt and The Big Show under his belt. The four-way for the title at Payback was a whole lot of fun, thanks largely to Reigns, too. I can't wait to see what he does in the remaining five months.

Pretty amazing given how horrible the sense of comedy tends to be in other Japanese media.

Alright, here's a swerve ball:

I was disappointed when I learned that Kurt Angle had beaten Bobby Lashley for the championship.

I have a soft spot for WM 9. Show was shit overall but it's the first one I watched.

John Cena if the only reason WWE is interesting, yet still not enough for me to watch.

Money in the Bank needs to disappear from existence.

Jeff Jarrett should've never been heavyweight champion in WCW.

There is some mild racism in WWE history. Way before this Hogan thing.

Has there ever been a black WWE champion? I mean darker than Rock, and not the big gold belt either.

Bobby Lashley was the best TNA Champion since Bobby Roode's 256-day record reign.

Chris Sabin is the worst TNA Champion in TNA's history. Worse than EY. Worse than Magnus.

No but it certainly wasn't from lack of effort on WWE's part. Lashley and Ahmed Johnson are 2 perfect examples of African American's getting pushed to the moon but unfortunately circumstances prevailed.

People also say JYD should've been champ but I could never agree with that. Although he was insanely popular he existed during the Hogan era and anyone with half a brain knows Hogan was the right guy to be champ during those years.
