Wrestlezone Fantasy Baseball league?

Is anybody looking to start one or get into one? If enough people, say eight, are up for it and want to get something going then I'll make one.

I'll probably make it through ESPN, as I am not a big fan of Yahoo's setup. If anyone has any other suggestions other than ESPN or Yahoo I'll be open to hear them.

Those who are interested, what's your preference of league? Roto? Head to Head? Head to Head points? Head to Head categories? I'll go with what seems to be the most preferred option for everyone.

Alright sweet ESPN it most likely is. I think I'm going to make it and then just post the info here in this thread. I think we could get enough people to join in by the time the season starts, but if not worst case we could just open it up and make it public.

I'd prefer it be all Wrestlezoners though.

I'll try to make the draft sometime late, probably the weekend before the season starts. With the first game being March 22nd with that Australia game we'd either have the draft right before that, or just not have the stats in that game play into our league.
 
We had a fantasy baseball league on Wrestlezone last season, Akhilleus. It was on yahoo and Harthan organized it (and won it as well if I remember correctly). Not sure if he is putting it together again this season (I want in if he does), but you should keep it in mind if he runs it again and if there's a spot available.

Ah I see. I'll have to hear from him then and see if he's going to do it. If not I've already got a league with ESPN set up, but I'm good for either. If he isn't planning on re-opening his league I'll post the link.
 
We could always have two WZ leagues as well. I'm up for doing any WZ league though. I'd prefer H2H catergories but as long as it's not roto I'd be happy.

Alright so I figured if Harthan really wants to make a league than this will be the best route to go with, hopefully he won't mind me opening one up. Two leagues shouldn't be a problem anyway, especially if they're two different types.

Looking to get at least 8-12 teams. If more people than that want to join then I'll add more. It's a H2H Categories league with the five default categories for batting and pitching.

As of now the draft is scheduled for Saturday, March 15th at 9pm EST. Please let me know if that works, or if it needs to be changed. I'll try to make it the easiest date for everyone, and I'll try to make it before the first regular season game on March 22nd, but if we have to we can not count that game towards stats.

One thing that is different that I'm not sure how many people will like is as of now there are no waivers. So let me know if that's a serious problem for you and I'll consider changing it if the majority of the league is against it.
 
Idk if I want in on baseball. I was a part of one a few years ago and the fellas in the league with me lost interest real quick. Plus it's way more games compared to 82 games in hockey and basketball. But maybe I'll give it a whirl.

This is one thing I was hoping didn't happen here. I've been in leagues where people start to lose interest and stop paying attention once their teams start falling behind. I've also been in leagues where teams seemed like they were way out of it, but still paid attention and came back and won.

With this type of league, with it being every single day, there's a lot to pay attention to. But at the same time there isn't really, because you can set your lineup weeks in advance if you want. I've gone weeks without making a single change to my lineup.

So hopefully the long season doesn't discourage anybody. I hope to get at least eight.
 
Erm, there should definitely be a waivers. If people want to stream pitchers or pick up the next top prospect they should be able to. Or if one of their picks turns into a bust or a new closer comes.

Also don't need as many roster spots, DH be replaced by Utility (so guys don't need to be DH eligible to play there) change CF to a 3rd OF (no reason to separate the 3 OF positions when many guys rotate around). I'd cut the bench in half so there's more guys available on waivers and make the waivers auction based (with either a 1 or 0 minimum). I'd be open to adding more cats as well but I'm fine with a 5x5 if that's the minority.

I'm less familiar with ESPN and how to change the settings. First I created a league manager league but after I found out you can't get a join link and have to invite everyone via email I deleted it and did a custom league instead. I was under the impression that I was allowed to change league settings at least before the season started, but now I discovered that once you create the league all the settings are locked. Even the draft date apparently. That's not something I'm comfortable with.

For the waivers I think the first come first serve method works due to it being every single day. OF isn't that big of an issue, a lot of guys can player universally anywhere in the outfield anyway.

I wish I could change all of this stuff though. This is one thing I'm not liking about the ESPN league, but the all around interface is something that I definitely enjoy. It isn't very user friendly though, or maybe I'm just stupid. It is convenient for me however compared to using Yahoo or another league.
 
I'm not a fan of first come first serve since Jim Sonofabitch could be on his computer 15 hours a day and if he hears the news right away he can make an add. Plus it adds strategy with an auction waiver system.

And that is my point exactly with CF. If there's so many guys that can play it it seems silly to single it out from RF and LF. Just seems like an unnecessary change.

Yeah I messed up. I would change it if I could, but it shouldn't make too big of a difference. You're right as far as that goes, and it does give an advantage to someone who would pay attention to that sort of thing a lot more than others. Then again I suppose you could simply strategize around that yourself. Be a step ahead of Jim Sonofabitch.

Yeah if you see someone gets called up you could jump to the Free Agency and scoop him up, but at the same time there's a solid chance that guy could get sent straight back down after hitting .192. So there's really a lot more to it than just hearing the news and picking someone up.
 
So we've got five teams far. Hopefully we can get seven more at least. Worst case we can just open it up to the public. If any of you guys know any friends who might want to join and are good at fantasy baseball them give them a shout. Although the best case is if we keep it exclusively Wrestlezone.

I ended up having to drop out because I have one of my private leagues drafting the same day and I refuse to let ESPN autopick for me. Sorry about that.
 
Okay so the draft is next Saturday, March 15th at 9pm. Hopefully that works for everyone because I can't change it. We've got 8 teams which was my goal, but sadly ESPN doesn't allow me to edit anything at all with this league once I created it, including the amount of teams. So I have to fill it up to 12.

Maybe we can get four more teams in the next week. If not, worse case if I had to open it up to the public would that be alright with everybody?
