Wrestlers you have met?

HoHo

The Voice of the Future
I met Greg Valentine at FWF a local promotion and he chopped THE HELL OUTTA A WRESTLER THERE! I know the promoter there as he also wrestles so I got free tickets. At intermission I met the hammer and he told me I had a strong handshake before taking a picture with me.What a great day.

No BIG time guys, a few of this years generation of guys.

Sheamus.
Christian.
Drew Mcintyre.
Sterling James Keenan (soon coming to a WWE near you)
Christopher Daniels
AJ Styles
Jerry Lynn
Abyss

There are a few more.

I will preface this by saying i live in nashville.
with that said, in 2002 i met R-Truth at a club downtown Nashville, i was actually a fan of his at the time, (he was in TNA) and he was a complete asshole to me and my friend, who were both big fans of TNA at the time.
I met AJ Styles, Chris Sabin and the Harris twins at the asylum in 2003.
Earlier this year, (i am a waiter) Vince Russo was dining at my restaurant so i introduced myself, he was initially a dick,
(funny story, i walked up and said "i know who you are", and he said "yeah im the guy looking for my fucking waiter so i can pay my bill")
but he warmed up and talked with me for a bit. Rudy Charles (i think thats his name) was with him but big whoop.
I met Vader in 1998 I think it was, at a grocery store of all places, he was buying a LOT of beer. Very nice guy.

Basically anyone you can think of in the mid to late 90's in WWE or WCW I have met and gotten autographs, pictures, or video of with the camcorder. I don't know what security is like now, but back then if you showed up early you could go right up to them with no problems.

I'd have to say the coolest guy was DDP. He told my friend to "get a picture of this" and then grabbed my head in the Diamond Cutter pose. Really nice guy, actually asked us if we wanted autographs before we even asked him.

Owen Hart was awesome too. He told us the match results before he even went inside the building. My friend was helping carry the Bulldog's bags inside for him and when they walked around the corner, Owen was standing there with a fire extinguiser getting ready to spray Davey Boy. He said, "Oh I didn't know you had company." lol

Hall, Nash, Shawn Michaels and Waltman were all riding together and actually pulled up beside us at a stop light and asked us to pull over when we left a show at the Struthers Field House in Struthers, OH. Then at a gas station, we gave them directions to the next city they needed to go to. A kid asked Hall (Razor Ramon back then) for an autograph on a piece of toilet paper and Hall said, "Yeah you're gonna keep this." hahah I have a million memories but those are just a couple that stand out the most right now.

Both members of The Rock and Roll Express.
Not in their prime but around 2005 or so, they came with OVW to a live show in my town. Robert Gibson is one of the most out of shape wrestlers I've seen. Ricky Morton told me if I lost some baby fat, I could be a wrestler which was a huge compliment.

Eddie Guerrero.
I got his autograph in 2004 at a Smackdown like show. We were standing outside and he was walking in the side and came over to talk to some fans. I believe I was the only one he signed an autograph for.

Zack Ryder.
I have shared this before but while Zack Ryder was still one half of the Major Brothers, they came to OVW in town. The Wrestlers had a different locker room but everyone shared the same bathroom. I went to the bathroom and I was standing at the urinal and Zack Ryder walked in to take a piss. While we both washed our hands he started talking to me. After his match, he shook my hand.

Cody Rhodes then known as Cody Runnels.
He stood up in a chair next to me at an OVW live show and cut a promo. He said something about me although I don't really remember what.

ODB.
This bitch is scary. She was signing autographs at a show and was totally in character.

Matt Cappotelli.
In case you do not know, he won a season of Tough Enough with John Morrison. He retired because they found a tumor on his brain. He was a special guest at an OVW show and he stayed around after to talk to some fans.

Big Show.
I didn't really meet him but he shook my hand after a match in OVW. I was young. Like 8 or 9 at the time.

Jim Cornette.
He wasn't too friendly. He was signing autographs at an OVW show and I took a picture of us together.

Danny Davis.
Owner of OVW. He stayed around after a taping and greeted the fans which was kind of cool.

I loved living so close to WWE's developmental territory. It was fun seeing some young guys become something in the WWE. There are a few others but they're probably not worth mentioning.

Some of the wrestlers I've met over the years included the following.

1. Doink the Clown
2. Bam Bam Bigelow
3. Afa of the Wild Samoans
4. The Blue Meanie
5. Sunny
6. Texas Tornado (Yes, THE Kerry Von Erich)
7. Captain Lou Albano

Others I will meet in a few weeks will include Hulk Hogan, Brutus Beefcake, Nasty Boys, Koko B. Ware, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and more. Pretty excited

Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Sabu, Rene Dupree, Nigel McGuinness, Bryan Danielson, Sheamus, Fergal Devitt, Kurt Angle, Christian, Billy Kidman, Teddy Hart and a number of others.

The most interaction I've had with, is McGuinness. Believe it or not, it was over my hairstyle. He was drinking in the bar of the hotel we were staying in and it was just after ROH's show in Liverpool where the ROH Pure and World Heavyweight Championship's were unified. I went into the bar and went up to ask for an autograph, before I could he said he liked how my hair was spiked and asked what gel I used. From there we spoke for about ten or twelve minutes about wrestling and football. He was very cool and friendly and asked me what I thought of his match and the ROH product in-general.

Bret Hart shook my hand at an event in Ireland back in '07, he's my favorite wrestler of all time so it was pretty cool for me. Devitt and Sheamus used to wrestle at the shitty Irish events we had and they were easy to meet, you could practically walk into the locker rooms but instead you waited out the back. I remember Fergal wasn't all that big when I first met him, not that he's that big now but back when I met him you wouldn't imagine he was a professional wrestler.

Met Ultimate Warrior when his comic was coming out, and he just fought Hunter at 'Mainia. One of the nicest celebrities I;ve ever met. He was suppose to do a comic-sigining at the store I did security for. Suppose to start at 12noon, he came in 11am and stayed until about 3pm'; an hour later than scheduled. He signed every kid's stuff. He played arcade games, joked around, gave advice, he was great. Better than expected. Class act.

Met Amazing Red waaay back when he was wrestling in Queen's Elk's Lodge (USAPRO/IPW). He looked even younger then, like a friggin kid. Also met Low-Ki(Kaval), Homicide, Prince Nana, and Balls Mahoney there also...great guys all of them.

Two seperate experiences with Paul Heyman, 1st was awesome...it was after the first WWE/ECW One Night Stand. We watched it in Jersey and took the train into the city. Since it was about 20minutes since the show ended we walked to the Manhattan Center to see if anyone is signing as they leave.

Well Paul E. comes outside and starts shaking hands with everyone. I told him great job, and how proud I was of him this night. He had this gleam in his eye like he was on cloud 9 all day. He was very grateful. Security comes and asks if he needs an escort, and he said "Why? I'm with my people!" Awesome.

The Rock at Tower Records....he was great, did autographs for awhile. He WAS apprehensive about siging WWE stuff, this was just after "Rundown" I think when he went back to jusr Dwayne. But he did relent...he was nice.

I met most of TNA's roster back before Slammiversary 07 at the live fan interaction. Most were asses, but a few were friendly.

Daniels, Christian, Hector Guerrero, Abyss, AJ, Jerry Lynn, James Storm, Ron Killings, Kevin Nash and Kurt Angle were all nice to the fans.

I have to say Team 3d, The James Gang(NAO), Rhino, Raven, Kazarian, Robert Roode, LAX, Chris Harris, The Bashams, and Samoa Joe all either seemed indifferent or just plain out assholes.

It was hilarious to see the assholes like The James Gang and Rhino fail at attempt to win the crowd at Slammiversary the night after the fan interaction. I guess they learned you can't be cheered if you act like a dick.

Other than that, I haven't met any WWE guys, but I'm sure some WWE guys are more friendly than the TNA guys were.

Kane: doesn't seem as big in person as he does in the ring...very intelligent though.

Jeff Hardy: spent a lot of time talking to fans, was a nice guy...but that was probably 7 years ago, before he seriously fucked up his life.

Chris Benoit: DAMN strong handshake.

Balls Mahoney: kinda boring, actually.

Rob Van Dam: nice enough, but I strongly suspect he was high when I had a chance to talk to him.

Maria Kanellis: hot. just hot.

Beth Phoenix: super friendly! (and hot)

Victoria: I love dark haired beautiful Italian women...after meeting her, I developed a huge crush, still not totally gone away.

Sgt. Slaughter: friendly guy if you are older and love the old schoolers like I do. He autographed my brother's DVD of GI Joe: the movie (the animated one, not Rise of Cobra) which he supplied his voice to. WAY COOL!

Ricky the dragon Steamboat: I marked out HARD for Steamboat, very nice guy. Was very gracious.

Dean Malenko: short.

Dusty Rhodes: dude was a dick. It was shortly before he got inducted into the HOF, but he wanted nothing to do with the fans that day.

Matt Stryker: we got into a little history trivia game, he was a history teacher, I have a degree in history...smart dude.

The Great Khali. Opposite of Kane. WAY bigger in person, dude is huge!

Mike Rotunda: He showed up to the arena in character as Irwin R. Schuyster. AWESOME. Especially since this was just a few years ago.

I go to the conventions a lot and have had the opportunity to meet a number of wrestlers and managers. Most of them were very friendly (probably because they're hoping you buy an autograph) but there have been a few who were indifferent, like Jim Neidhart and Vader. Lillian Garcia was nice, but it was too blatant that she was only there to make a buck.

The most memorable ones I've met include:

Jim Cornette - very friendly, didn't charge for autographs, hysterical storyteller.

Victoria - she got on the PA and cut a promo about how she was going to beat Awesome Kong that Thursday on Impact (this was October 2009). Kong came out of nowhere and went after her with a water bottle. Victoria ran for it and I was the one who got splattered by the water.

Ox Baker - for a heel, he was very friendly, not to mention entertaining listening to him cut promos on people.

I have met a lot as well.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Honky Tonk Man I was a little kid for but from what I remember they were both nice have a picture with Duggan and met him again 13 years later.

I met Dolph Ziggler while he was Nicky of the Spirit Squad, he was also extremely nice

Jeff Hardy and RVD were really cool spent a lot of times with fans

I spent about 30 minutes with Teddy Long before a smackdown/ecw event and he was giving me tips on being a wrestler. At that same event met Edge, Lita, Cena, Miz and Ashley

I live 5 minutes away from 911 and am friends with his kid so I see him every so often. He could still chokeslam the hell out of anyone.

I also went to a Bret Hart book signing and he was pretty cool until some dick there made a comment about Owen.

Thats about it, all were good experiences

I once sold pot to Eddie Fatu (Umaga) while staying in the guest house on the McMahon estate (down the small hill from the main mansion), the same day him and a bunch of other WWE guys were told they were being suspended in the wake of the Sports Illustrated steroid scandal. Want to hear a good joke? Remember when Vince publicly posted his "home address" on RAW several years ago? That was a practical joke Vince played on one of his neighbors, who ended up getting all that mail- Ron Howard.

If they worked for the WWE between '06-'08, odds are I've probably met them, at least in passing. I can tell you that Kenderson is every bit the douchebag outside of the ring as he is inside. HHH is a really friendly guy outside of work; somehow, with all the servants running around to please Castle McMahon, he's managed to take a very bemused air to the fame he has. (Don't worry about the E when Vince is gone. I can promise you that it's in very capable hands.)

I can't say I knew any of the wrestlers, so let's not have anyone get into the "so what kind of cereal does CM Punk eat?" bullshit. (Answering prior questions people have asked me IRL when they've heard about this- no, I can't get you tickets, no, I don't know who's going to win at the next pay-per-view, and NO, I cannot, and would not if I could, arrange a meeting between you and a wrestler.) But I would run into them frequently enough so that it wasn't really a big deal.

I've been fortunate enough to meet a few wrestlers, what with growing up in Canada, and being very close to Detroit, (both WWF/WWE markets), so let's see:

I went to university with Scott D'Amore, and became friendly with him (not best friends, but close enough that he would invite me to any BCW or TNA shows that he ran). I met, and became friendly with (not FRIENDS with) both Christian and Edge. Both really cool guys, and I've kept in touch with Edge (through Scott) over the years. Also through BCW I met Mikey Whipwreck (not the nicest person I have to say), Sabu, (he was REALLY quiet and laid back), Shane Douglas (a douche), Raven (REALLY smart and articulate), Mick Foley (very funny man), Arn Anderson (very smart and funny), "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan (quiet, but nice), Jim Neidhart (Asshole....he actually refused to show up for a Hart Foundation reunion that BCW was putting on, unless he was paid MORE than Bret Hart...), Jimmy Hart (as loud as he was on television), and Bret Hart (which was a MASSIVE deal for me, as he was one of my idols as I was growing up...he was really nice, but quiet). I'm sure there are more people I met through BCW, but those are the ones that stand out.

I met RVD at a RAW show in Detroit, and we spoke for about 10 minutes...he actually asked me if I knew where a gym was near Joe Louis Arena. That was kind of cool.
The Rock was the nicest guy. I met him at another RAW show, and he signed for about 20 people. The best part was when he noticed a handicapped girl in her wheelchair waiting to meet him. He came around the parking lot, and brought her and her mother backstage....and oh yeah, he was the "heel" champion at that time. Really cool of him to do that.
The Big Show. When he asked me my name, I told him it was Paul (his real name is Paul). He looked at me and asked if I was "fucking with him" (in a kidding way). I looked him up and down and told him that he would be the last person I would fuck with. REALLY MASSIVE. Far bigger in person than what you see on TV.
I was also at the Smackdown show that HBK was supposed to come back to as GM (before his return in 2002). This was when he was still messed up on painkillers. Anyways, he was supposed to appear on the show, but was too messed up to do so, and the WWE sent him home (he talks about this in his book). So as he was leaving the arena, he walked towards a waiting limo outside of Joe Louis Arena and through a crowd of fans, of course everyone was asking for autographs. He tells everyone to fuck off and pushes a guy out of the way. Obviously one can't hold him responsible for how he acted then, but it was disappointing to have that interaction with him.
I met Rowdy Roddy Piper at a convention a few years ago, and he was SO friendly. Took the time to talk to everyone and listen to their stories. Really nice man.
I'm sure there are a few others here or there that I've missed, but those are the ones that immediately stick out for me.

Used to work for Customs as the Canadian border, so I would see the wrestlers all the time. I never marked out because my job depended upon it, but the wrestlers were always pretty professional.

A few that stood out:

Hurricane Helms: Was busted with too much alcohol in his bag, was extremely upset that we confiscated like $50 of booze. Seemed unnatural.

Rosie: Had priors in a few US States, was inadmissible to Canada. Was only allowed in because McMahon hires literally the best immigration lawyer in the country to take care of his shit.

Undertaker: Professional, mild-mannered and well-spoken. Scary. As. Fuck. He's a 7-foot tall biker with a death stare.

Most other wrestlers were uneventful or just random, professional guys. Most were very courteous and didn't cause too much of a problem (I guess they were told to be on their best behavior - smart move by Vince). Interesting note is that a good number of wrestlers hold dual passports with Canada and US, from speaking with one jobber (dont remember name) its because they did so many shows in Canadian territories, they could apply for it and get the free health care and cheaper prescriptions.

Iron Sheik last year at WonderCon

Cool guy, told me to stay away from wrestlers after my mom told him i want to be a pro wrestler. I took a picture of him and my mom and it came out perfect. He was even smiling! Then she took a picture of me and him and it came out blurry and he looked like he wasn't even looking at the camera.

Thanks mom!

I met a lot of WWE guys when they came to Balad, Iraq a couple of years ago. John Cena is freaking short in person. I am 5'9 and I was just about at eye level with him. Dont know if it was the ground or what. Extremely nice guy though and gracious. One of my friends did a freestyle on him and Cena owned him. Hilarious.

I was taller than Chris Jericho, thats not much of a shock though. It was funny because at first he kept in character and was a douche. I asked him if he could sign this poster all of us service members got and he said "back off junior" and walked away before turning around smiling and laughing then giving me a hug.

I was an excort for all of them and at where they were staying I got Big Show in a rear naked choke (just playing around mind you) and he grabbed me into the beginning of a chokeslam lol. I got to work out with R-Truth and John Morrison as well as eat with them in our Defac (dinning facility). Both nice guys.

I met Luke Gallows and Paul London at a vanguard championship wrestling show we did a month ago. VCW is the promotion I am training at and they booked London and Gallows at our show. Gallows was a dick, and after the show our head promoter told me they had to pay him 1000 bucks to get him to come here where as paul london only asked for some weed lol.

I haven't met too many but luckily the ones I did meet were not at autograph signings, just lucky encounters:

- Bret Hart (at a bar and got to have a drink with him)
- Davey Boy Smith (randomly back in '97 while my dad was buying a computer)
- The Hart Dynasty (at a bowling alley I managed)
- Ted Dibiase (the new one not the awesome one) (same as the Hart Dynasty)
- Bad News Allen (worked with him for about a year at a mall)

I met Booker T at some point, but I don't remember where. He's always around Houston. I knew a guy who trained at his wrestling school, too.

Met Rey Misterio Jr at a WCW house show.

I met Jeff Jarrett, Samoa Joe, and Sarita and Rosita at an Impact Wrestling house show.
Sarita and Rosita were incredibly sweet ladies, and Jeff Jarrett (even though I'm not a huge fan) was probably the friendliest wrestler I've ever met. Samoa Joe, however, was a total dick and barely talked to anybody and just signed your stuff and sent you on your way.

Dude are you Irish?

I've met bth these guys also. They wrestled at my event and it's amazing to see how much better Sheamus and DeVitt have both become. DeVitt is a really nice guy and didn't see himself going past Ireland. He said something to the extent of that anyway. Sheamus is a very nice and funny guy who was head trainer of all the up and comers. Him and Devitt had a pretty boring match back then but it'd be very interesting to see what they'd pull out these days. I've also met Rebecca Knox who's probably a relatively unknown irish women's wrestler who I think is a manager in Shimmer now and I had a lengthy talk with her.

Other than those three I've met Bret Hart, Renee Dupree, Scotty 2 Hotty, Joe E. Legend, Tatanka & Eugene on one of them "American Rampage Wrestling" tours.

I met half the RAW lockerroom at seperate brief moments when they were stuck in Belfast due to the Iceland volcano thing. I happened to be staying in the same hotel as them visiting relatives. William Regal swears like a sailor and Melina is one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Hardy boys-I met them around 2000 at a Mall event. They were really nice. We got to take pictures with them and talk with them for a little while. It's a shame to see all the problems they're having now.

Abyss
Petey Williams
Jake Roberts
Matt Morgan
Eric Young
Sharkboy
Consequences Creed
Hector Guerrero
Angelina Love
Velvet Sky

I'd throw them all away, to meet Mick Foley.
