Would you bring back......... Part 1

Hi peeps, let me introduce another thread series.
I name a former WWE character, you say whether you would like to see them (either the person who played the character originally, or the character played by someone else) brought back, why, and what you would do with them if they were to be brought back.

For this series, I am going to ignore the obvious names (HBK, Austin, Rock etc), instead, picking some of the people who were slightly further down the card.

First up in this series is......... Eugene.

So, would you bring back Eugene?
Why?
What would you like him to do if he was brought back?

Discuss.......

No. I just can't see how he would fit into the current format, especially with Bischoff gone

I think when we were introduced to Eugene in 2004 we knew his gimmick had an expiration date on it. He had a fun little run and lasted a bit longer than I expected him to, but his time has past. The gimmick ran its course and I don't see any reason to bring Eugene back. Although now that I think about it he would be entertaining with Santino.

I wouldn't mind seeing him brought back as a comedy guy because he might fit in with the PG era, but if he were to be brought back I would say shave his head and team him with SES. He was always decent in the ring, but last time I saw him he was really out of shape so I don't think he'll be back.

I don't think he should be brought back the gimmick ran it's course long before he was let go. It was a fun goofy gimmick at first, but got stale quickly. I don't think they could go any further with that gimmick.

Bring back Nick Dinsmore. Screw Eugene. Besides Linda wouldn't allow a mentally disabled person in the ring. You know it LOL.

I rather see a wrestler with a decent gimmick than a wrestler with a sympathetic gimmick. (unless they're really disabled, like the handicap Zach Gowen)

No, I wouldn't want to see Eugene back. The Eugene character ran it's course, and while I do think his character would get a couple of decent pops from a live crowd, I really don't think he's needed in the WWE. Santino does a good job as the comedy guy on Raw, and we do see Goldust every now and then. Allthough I can't stand him, Smackdown has Hornswoggle as their comedy guy. Eugene had his little run, and the WWE really doesn't need him right now.

I say, sure, bring Nick Dinsmore back so long as he's truly licked his drug habit. To be honest, he's excellent in the ring and the fact that he played Eugene and played that part to the hilt means that whatever character he gets he will likely commit to it and do excellently with it.

However, I agree that the Eugene gimmick should be dropped. I actually enjoyed the gimmick and thought there was plenty more you could do with it. Think a sort of wrestling "savant" in that he's totally useless in any other mode, but put him in the ring and he's this incredible force combined with mindbending technical wrestling knowledge. Rather like those who have a great deal of mental/social difficulty otherwise, but put them in front of a piano and they can play anything they hear, or something like that. That being said, however, the WWE (and pro wrestling in general) is all about blowing things out of proportion which would translate into making fun of and/or taking advantage of someone with mental/developmental difficulties. Given the PG era of the WWE, Eugene ain't coming back. Still, I think that Dinsmore himself would have a future if given a shot.

In a on screen role, no dice. As a trainer and in a backstage role, sure. He can actually wrestle...which sadly not many actually can anymore. He could teach alot of up and comers, but that's where it should end.

Eugene wasn't built as a long term gimmick. Sure, he popped the crowds a little bit, but there was no serviceable place for him on the cards. That's even more re-inforced now then ever, with the dual-branded PPV's. He was fun while it lasted, but he wouldnt do anything more then serve as enhancement talent now for putting other guys over, and that really wasn't the theme of his gimmick. So there's no real point of bringing him back.

Hell no, I consider the gimmick distasteful, boring, and really he just sucked.

The only thing I have hated more than the WWE shoving a little person down our throats, is the WWE forcing a gifted wrestler to pretend to be mentally challenged, and take up a ridiculous amount of our time. I'll admit, Eugune probably got Nick over way more than he would have with a regular gimmick, but I thought it was insulting and completely annoying to watch. The fact that he "beat" guys like Triple H and Batista in MAIN EVENT matches on Raw was insane. The fact that they used a precious Rock return on HIM is insane. Him being temporary general manger is insane. The only thing that ever fit him was him being in the mid-card tag division, and Miz kicking his ass at his one night return. And even his tag days accelerated an already obvious downward spiral in William Regal.

If they ever brought him back, I would suggest using Nick, and not his ******ed alter-ego. Yeah, I'm sure the kids would have loved him. Hell, he probably had a LOT to do with the start of the more obvious PG era... If he did come back as Eugene though...and I had to sit through him being on my screen...I suggest they keep him the hell away from the ring as long as that gimmick holds. The only thing I would ever be tempted to want to see is him working with Santino in some way...

That's exactly what I was thinking. If the characte eugene comes back then he should work with santino for the kiddies. If nick would come back, he needs to be nick. Nick dinsmore was basically a cross between brent albright and chris benoit. He was ovw champ more than anybody. (Remember ovw...lol) he was champ the same time that brock lesnar, cena, and batista was down there. He is an amazing wrestler.

Absolutely not. I absolutely hated that character. It was insulting and disrespectful to people with disabilities. I was offended everytime he was on our screens. In saying that bring back Nick if you want, either way doesnt bother me.

I enjoyed Eugene time in WWE but I'm sorry but he wouldn't fit in today's PG Era.
I mean come on (a 40 year old guy who acts like a 7 year old) that is just telling kids all psychopaths are fun to play with.If Nick Dinsmore decides to come back as Eugene, he would have to clean up the character but him being in the title picture.
The Tag Team and Intercontinental title would be the highest he goes.

Only as a trainer. There would be no other reason for Eugene to be brought back to television. His character ran it's course, and in today's kid friendly/PG Era WWE it wouldn't be beneficial to them to make light of a mentally handicapped person. Now what if you put him in a different gimmick you might ask? I'd still say no. The guy is too small and doesn't have enough of his own personality to make any other form of character interesting at all.

Sure he played the Eugene gimmick well, but how many times has the Oscar gone to somebody who portrayed a ******. Almost every time. It doesn't take any talent to act ******ed.

No I would not bring Eugene back it was a fun character while it lasted but the last thing the WWE needs right now are more bad comedy characters, Santino and Horny are more than enough. While it was a fun character it got ridiculous to the point where he went 20 mins with Hunter at Summerslam.

I can't see the point of Eugene coming back WWE has already got Santino and Hornswoggle, so they don't need another comedy gimmick. Also I don't see the point of Nick Dinsmore without the Eugene gimmick coming back, there's plenty of wrestlers on the roster at the moment and he wouldn't get any tv time so it would be WWE paying him for nothing.

Forget Eugene, if you're going that angle, then bring someone back with substance, like Tomko, there was someone that fought some battles, like Christian and Tomko v Eugene and Regal. Tomko could be a better fit in SES. His ink and bulky-ness. He's the strong silent type that could take over for Gallows is Luke were to F things up somehow. Be a great way to give a super storyline for Christian to fight with Punk and his stable.
