not the funniest just the stupidest.

which in my opinion would be Chris Masters...we don't need another Rick Rude there will never be a Rick Rude...masters cannot handle a mic or wrestle match, thats why i think he sucks

Worst of all time eh ? how about the Gobbely Gooker? or Abe "knuckle ball " Schwarts? hmm I shall go on Ding Dongs, Red Rooster, Handsome Stranger maybe I'll be back to post more as I remember some stinkers in the way of Gimmiks, oh the Ring Master, and finally Demon for now lol

Oh I know I was saying that WCW had that one summer where they brought every viable celebrity they could into the fray such as NBA Stars, The No Limit Soldiers featuring Master P and Sillkk The Shocker, The Insane Clown Posse much clown love btw, Jay Leno and Kevin Eubanks of Tonight Show fame, David Arquette the worst world champion period, punk rock group The Misfits, Kiss who never wrestled but unleashed the Demon, and others that I probably forgot but the point is they brought some of the worst matches and stables EVER in the history of the sport

Oh god, I cringe every time I think of all of the No Limit Soldier, especially SWOLL. But then again, The Harlem Heat 3000 gimmick was pretty damned bad as well.

But the WORST two gimmicks of all time belonged to ONE man! Norman The Lunatic (in WCW) and BASTON BOOGER(in WWF)! lol Ewww.

Masters is more of a Lex Luger wannabe than a Rick Rude wannbe. I can picture Rob COnway as a Rick Rude type when he goes to TNA. Imagine him and Robert Roode teaming together for a while. It would make for a NICE throw back type team where they are cocky and wear robes and such.

The Barbarian is another I despised. Here was a big guy, had some athletic talent, but the WWE decided he was stuck in Norse times and only wanted to destroy an opponent and toss them out of the ring to win via count out. There was no aspect of competition, nor was he ever interesting. It took Bret Hart and the British Bulldog to make interesting, entertaining matches with the guy.

IRISHCANADIAN25, can you please explain your comment of "the Death of Owen Hart. Such a work." Typically your posts are sensible and well thought out, and I usually agree with them, but if I am understanding you correctly here, this comment flabbergasts me. Please explain.

There have been lots of terrible gimmicks, most of which have already been mentioned. Currently, it's the Boogeyman. Here's a guy who's older but whose survival depends upon eating worms. Can't wrestle to save his life.

A gimmick from before which was really stupid was when Hulk Hogan was dressing up as some American Hero thing, and everyone knew it was Hogan, but he was always denying it. I'm sure this was some form of punishment for Hogan, right before he left the WWE. That was really dumb.

And poor Owen Hart as the Blue Blazer was just awful. What a terrible way for such an excellent career and life to come to a tragic end.

Actually, The Barbarian was a completely different character than the one you just described. Although I can explain the confusion. The character that YOU are referring to was The Berserker. His old indy gimmicl was Nord The Barbarian. But the guy simply known as The Barbarian was one half of the Powers of Pain and later a member of the Dungeon of Doom. And you are right, The Berserker (recently featured in WWE's 10 Most Strange Gimmicks of All Time) did suck ass! They took a perfectly good wrestler and made him into a joke. Something that WWF and now WWE has always had a talent for. lol

I honestly hated the Doink the Clown gimmick because I thought it was plain stupid and what was the point of having a clown anyway.Whatever floats Vinnie's boat.

By far "Bad Ass Undertaker"! His deadman gimmick is the best! He just seemed like he sold out and became "human". Like Kane said " YOUR ONE OF THEM

jermberm, I'm actually surprised it took this long for someone to bring up the American Badass persona. I know a ton of people that hated it, but personally, I loved it.

1. WWE was getting away from the gimmicks and cartoony characters, breaking kayfabe and letting people behind the scenes. The deadman character never would have fit in this time period. Hell, Kane started to talk, had a costume change, and would eventually lose the mask in this period.

2. It made the return of the deadman that much special at Wrestlemania 20. People were waiting for it to come back, and the 5 year hiatus was much needed to keep the character fresh.

Great list so far, but i think a couple of classics have been missed...

Kee - Vic Grimes in WWF, the big white suit wearing drugdealing friend of Albert and Droz

Speaking of big and white suit wearing... Mordecai! Proof that a Vampire gimmick isn't the worst thing that can happen to a wrestler.

For all of you stuck for an ECW one - Chilly Willy. Huh?

And finally, before "Damn" and the APA there was... Farooq Asaad! Sunny's roman gladiator brought in to beat Ahmed Johnson! Indeed.

Special mention to curry man. God bless those japanese fans!

I am very shocked that no one has said Carlito. Give me a damn break, this afro wearing dork has the ironic gimmic of, get ready for this! "Cool"
COOL??!! COOL?! FUCKING COOL???!!!! Of all the great gimmics Vince has come up with over the years, how can this abortion of a character still be on tv?!

Someone mentioned Papa Shango during his feud with the Ultimate Warrior and it took me back to watching the late saturday night recap show (not main event) and in the clip it showed warrior giving an interview, then suddenly started bleeding from his head. My buddy who was spending the night and I looked at each other horrified, but then again we were 10.

D'Lo Brown and one of the Headbangers in a tag team where they were under Tiger Ali Singh and they both used to wear Turbans.

I never liked that gimmick.

Same goes for the Doink the Clown gimmick.

I resent the Bringing up of the Bloody Bushwhackers in this Thread, look for their sheepherders stuff and then say it is a Crap gimmick.

The Worst Gimmick I can think of is The Miz, his gimmick is based off of the fact that he is on Reality TV, whoop-de-doo half of America has been on a reality TV show. maybe it is just because he is annoys me.

We could argue all day about what the worst gimmick of all time is seeing as there have been more good then bad.

I give my vote to the Red Rooster. If I think long enough I can think of a couple worse gimmicks, but Terry Talyor gets the nod because he passed up the Mr. Perfect gimmick. He had to feel so stupid when he was jobbing and Curt Henning was the IC champ when that belt meant a lot.

I think gangster Vince was horrible. It was creepy seeing some 50-60 year old guy wearing a dew rag and acting "hip." That came out of nowhere and stunk.

yeah gangsta vince really left me speechless..i think at least 2 of the worst of all time gotta be the hurricane and rosey WTF? these 2 think that they are super heros and even tagged together i thought it was just plain goofy when hurricane was teaching rosey to be a super hero... as well as eugene goodness what a waste of a good wrestler hell now he even thinks hes a super hero also his gimmick is just getting stupid come on its been what 2 years we have seen eugene be a "mentally ill" type gimmick it is just pointless

I am going to go back in time a little back to the eary 90's...

I have picked 3 of the worse gimmicks ever

1) Hercules- this guy acted like a ******ed chris masters. he thought he was stronger than everybody and if i can recall he didnt even win alot of matches.. overall this guy sucked

2) Repo Man- OMG! This guy acted like a dang baboon trying to hide, if i can recall back in the 1992 Royal Rumble he ran like an idiot and like stayed outside for like 3 or 4 minutes, he took longer than Undertaker did and trust me his entrance if long, especially at WrestleManias.

3) LAST but certainly least Gangster Vince... I mean come on this guy is like the worst possible wrestler ever.. Every time he does wrestle he cheats to win and i understand who doesnt but he needs Umaga his son and even had help from Big Show in the last year, overall his gimmick sucked. Hes like 100 years old and he tried to be 15 years old. HE SUCKS! Even as a Chairman. I hope that limo explosion was real then i would laugh it up for the rest of my life.

wow i must be old if nobodys brought up the missing link yet. covered with green paint and patch of hair sticking straight up. whoever thought of that gimmick must of been high as a kite.

Flash funk- after watching him in WCW as 2 cold scorpio. i was disappointed when he goes to the WWE and is wearing the god awfullest outfit i've seen in a long time

Mankind- i hated the whole gimmick, the pulling out of the hair the sitting in the boilerroom i was so hoping for the catus jack persona when he went to the WWE

george the animal steele. whos best move was eating the turnbuckle. brilliant. and just when i got over that the WWE had to bring in Eugene

eric young. hopefully TNA is finally over with the save eric youngs job, it was getting really old.

Steve McMichael - the only guy in wrestling that had less moves then hogan--wait i forgot about tank abbot

honorable mention. barry windham as the widowmaker-I'd tell you why it sucked but i think it only lasted 2 weeks and i'm not sure if he even wrestled on tv.

on a sidenote i never knew that the The Gobbledy Gooker was Hector Guerrero

Im not being racist here but the asian mist stuff has been used for years by Tajiri, he used it in ECW, I think he used it in Japan is well, the Great Muta did it originally. The ones they give a martial arts type gimmick is actually because that is the style of moves that they have been using previously.

Actually you are being ignorant of other wrestling styles, Lucha is a very high flying style with technique being an important aspect. But agree with Cryme tyme but it is a parody of a stereotype that people have, Vince is exploiting it, so what. As for Kamala, he was doing his gimmick well before he even got anywhere close to WWF, he is still doing the gimmick in the Indies so he is not a good example. The Nation of Domination was a parody of the Nation of Islam, Remember that this started during the attitude era, its point was to be edgy and on th border of crossing the line.

Dude, no offense, but I do believe that the point of posting here is to post an original post wher eyou come up with your own ideas and not to just sit back and run down MY efforts. This is a thread of opinion. You give an opinion and why you believe that. Plain and simple. So please, stop being rude and stick to the subject at hand.

^Actually I am allowed to break down what you said and give my PoV of what you said and debate what you said, that is sort of the point of the Forums. As for one of your points there you are right I should give my opinion on the worst gimmick ever but right now I don't have time and I will edit this post later to say what I think.

Anyone here old enough to remember "Rocket Man?"

Maybe some people are old enough, but missed the week or two he appeared on Wrestling Challenge or Wrestling Superstars.

For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about, imagine a really crappy incarnation of Boba Fett. Basically, some jobber wore a Blue Blazer looking outfit to the ring with a "jet pack." It was pretty much a fire extinguisher. Anywho...the "jet pack" ignited and the "Rocket Man" lifted up one step at a time to get into the ring. Seriously, the guy sprayed a fire extinguisher, then jumped up ONE whole step out side the ring.

Pretty freakin lame....even for the 80's during the time of "Tug Boat" , "IRS", and "Repo Man."

And you are perfectly right. But you didn't debate my POV. ou straight up BASHED my pov. You didn't offer conslusive evidence of other wise. You just said I was ignorant. As a minority who has been watching wrestling for damned near 28 years, I pointed out some conituously unprogressive gimmick points that are used over and over again with minorities. I didn't say them all. I said the majority. And it is weird and harsh to say, but is a fact. You are right that the NOD was a spin off of the Nation of Islam. But why all bad guys? Hmm? They don't paint all Canadians as hockey players, do they? Nope.

hmmmm......the worst gimmick of all time......i would have to say this guy

RPhoto-tugboat.jpg

Tugboat.......wow......dumb outfit......dumb name......*sigh*.....dumb everything

When you see this guy you should thank vince for not having gimmicks this dumb anymore.

*watch what you type, or you'll find yourself banned. Just because you don't find it offensive, doesn't mean others won't.
