Wish LJL and I the best

Hurricane time is right upon us.

It's really not that bad of a storm, just very, very slow moving, which could end up causing a lot of damage and leave us without power for quite sometime. I know I'll be lucky if the worst case scenario is that I go without power for a few days... but damn, I hope the power outages here don't last too long once the storm is over, lol. No generators for me either; just books, an ice chest, water, and peanut better and jelly sandwiches.

Good luck to you guys and everyone else living in the area. I'm never sure if CNN is overhyping these situations, or if they are indeed worthy of all the concern (that's not to downplay anything, we all know how significant some of the storms down there have been). Hope you all stay safe and there's not too much destruction down there.

They do love to throw the Katrina comparison around.

And it astonishes me how they over hype the storm by comparing it to Katrina, while also CONSTANTLY downplaying Katrina's surge. Yes, it was a "Category 3," but the damn thing had a Cat 5 surge. We've never seen anything like it and hopefully won't again in my lifetime, yet the media loves to act like any breeze in the Gulf could end up being the next Katrina. It really is annoying. I just want the facts, not what it can "potentially" end up being.

To be fair, jmt is more likely to get it worse than I'll be.

The black dot is where I currently live.

You have the power of PB&J at your side, what can possibly go wrong?

Good luck dudes, and stay dry.

How are things down there? Getting bad yet or are things going to happen during the night/early morning?

The storm has been super weird since the beginning, but it only gets weirder.

Last night it seems like it just stopped, even going back south a bit, and now it looks like it's going to shift more to the West (which is good for us).

So far though little to zero impact in Baton Rouge. We'll probably start getting some heavy wind and rain in about 4/5 more hours.

Some strong winds and a lot of rain, but still not much damage around these parts.

I'm extremely lucky, though. My power went out at around 1:30 PM, and I got it back at 5 by some miracle. I was expecting to not get it back until Friday or Saturday, but somehow, someway, we got it back, just as the strongest part of the storm is about to hit us in a couple of hours. It'll be really awesome if the power somehow remains on through that, but my hopes aren't up.
