Federer forced Murray to play on the very edge throughout the match. From the outset, Murray was having to serve hard and return as deep as he could, trying to hit the baseline with every shot in an attempt to cramp
Unfortunately, being able to do such a thing for 3-5 sets is very, very rare. Even then, it took two stupendous points from Federer to break and win the second set. From then on, everything that Murray tried, Roger had an answer for - his overhead smash was Sampras-esque, his slice backhand down the line was almost unplayable in the third set, and the way he is able to skip around a forcefully driven shot from the likes of Djokovic or Murray and play it with his devastating forehand with seemingly very little effort is just sensational. At times like today, when he was hitting the corners with it, he becomes virtually impossible to play against.
Lastly, I see a lot of English attempting to find some way of criticsing Murray for his performance on the court and off it today, even going as far as to say that he was trying to steal the spotlight from Federer by crying AFTER HE LOST THE BIGGEST GAME OF HIS LIFE. How fucking dare he!
Is it any wonder the British do not win that much when spewing that kind of garbage is the first thing that a loud portion of the public think about?
