Will We See The Masked Kane Upon His Return?

With Kane being kayfabe injured, and the couple of weeks before his injury talking about how repulsed he has become with his own humanity, he's gonna expunge his humanity, show why he's the devil's favorite son, etc, will we see a return to a demonic, badass, silent monster type Kane, like when he debuted in 1997? I also remember reading something about Kane making a passing comment about wanting the mask back fairly recently, but I can't seem to find it right now.

I'm personally a little sick of Kane in his current form, and a return to a more heartless, less human Kane would be amazing.

I'm not going to lie... I've thought of it. I've been a big Kane fan since he debuted, but I'm not one to beat the drum over masked Kane vs. unmasked Kane... But with some of those segments he cut, I really wonder if it's a possibility.

At the very least they should try to reinvent him in some way. That really isn't easy to do though. How do you "reinvent" someone who has essentially been the same their entire career? (give or take a mask and some voice capabilities).

IF they give him the mask, the problem I see other than Glenn's performance quality is whether or not he can be a heel with it. This probably doesn't matter because SD! reactions are all edited, but I get the feeling if he came back with the mask he would get a HUGE pop. He's been around so long that I think anyone who remembers watching masked Kane would cheer for him if he put it back on - regardless of whether he was a heel or face.

I'm tired of this "Masked Kane" threads, I really am... He can do it, but for what? We would know who he is and the mask won't bring anything back.

He is being mis-used, this is only his problem. He wants to return as a monster, maybe he brings the mask, who knows? It would be cool to the die hard Attitude Era fans, but he really doesn't need that.
If he gets back and break every bone to Mark Henry, He would be so fucking cool, even without the mask.

I love Kane, he is one of my favorites in the WWE, I have a lot of respect for the guy and unfortunately he is overshadowed by guys like Randy Orton / John Cena and The Undertaker. But one thing that every WWE Fan learnt is that Kane can be World Champion in a blink of an eye if they book him in that way, and we would be okay with that.

Not this again. Masked Kane is NEVER coming back. Why do people not understand that? They teased a return in 2008 but instead it turned into an awful Kane/Rey feud. Kane will remain over and can main event without his mask. He does not need it back because it would not change anything. The big red monster is still entertaining and dominant without his mask, and his world title reign last year is proof of that.

Going back to the mask doesnt make sense...I would rather Kane have a makeover sort of like JBL..he is very intelligent and his character just doesnt fit him....maybe a gimmick where he uses his big words during promos, and then comes out wearing a suit, or maybe a cloak and a monocle or something lmao......who knows

No. Masks only make sense if it fits with the character's story or is part of their heritage. Honestly, do you think the guy who plays Kane would rather walk around with or without a mask? He doesn't need it anymore so I'd imagine he would not even want to wear it again.

Totally agree with you there. He can do it. But he doesn't neeed it. Especially in this stage of his career. He's being totally misused. When I heard he was getting pushed I got really excited. And I marked out when he won and cashed in the MitB briefcase at the same night. I thought that his push was gonna last until his career ended. And that's the way it should be. Kane is about a year or two away from retirement. I think he should be a serious main eventer and I think he should get a few more world title runs. Him being world champion and the top heel on Smackdown against Orton or a newly turned face Sheamus would make for some good TV in my opinion. He can feud with Sheamus for the title and have an old monster vs new monster kind of storyline. That would put over Sheamus as a top face and a a force to be reckoned with if he beats Kane.

Another Taker/Kane feud is the last thing I want to see for Kane. The same with a match between them at Wrestlemania. It's been done...twice. Sorry, I'm afraid you're just too damn casual.

As much as it would make people groan, ive long been a perponent of giving him some extensive time off to do a cycle of steroids, get in the best shape he can, and return for a monster masked run before he retires.

His current look with the return of the mask would be a fantastic way for him to return, especially since right before Henry put him down, he was talking about how disgustingly human he had become.

A return out of nowere in the Royal Rumble, no shirt with a mask and the long hair would rock. Dominate for a little, re-establish the character for a strong run in 2012

Shadow of Darkness made one good point... the only legitimate way for Kane to bring back the mask would be to create a storyline of being disfigured... seeing as that was his original reasoning.
However, I agree more with Mighty NorCal... Kane should stay gone, get in incredible shape again... grow his hair out... Maybe even a beard (He's had it before). But use the hair to cover his face. I doubt that he'll bring back the mask but it would be great to see him come back just monstrously well built and seemingly pissed off at everyone. I think he should attack faces and heels. Leave no one safe. Have him attack people backstage and interrupt matches... this would return him to his monstrous status. Let him hunt down Mark Henry... have Mark Henry seem to get the upperhand and then Kane do his famous pop up... look seriously pissed and just decimate the big man. Maybe even have Big Show come out to congratulate him for destroying Henry and have him destroy Big Show too.
For him to be the monster he can be... he has to severe all ties with the people he's been teamed up with.

Navyveteran has the idea i would love tosee Kane come back and decimate all make sure nobody is safe have him pop up on SD and RAW and just destroy people for the fun whether it's with the mask or without it. I think theres no better time than now to bring back masked kane. The way i see it is you can have kane act the way cody rhodes is in that he gets paranoid and thinks his face is burnt again and disfigured but really it's not but he thinks it is so he begins wearing the mask. maybe paul bearer trying to tell kane he needs the mask because the mask is his power source just like undertakers urn. Have big show talk to him and tell him he doesn't need the mask and that he is not disfigured. Let kane snap and destroy big show. Kane goes on a rampage chokeslams everyone teddy long, michael cole, josh matthews, booker t, time keeper and ring announcer. Have triple h call out kane and tell him his actions are unexceptable and he needs help. Aload of doctors and police come out they finally capture kane after a hard fight and get him into a straight jacket. For the couple of months leading up to the royal rumble show a video diary of kanes progress in the mental facility sitting there rocking back and forth laughing for a few wks then on the last video before the rumble everywhere is dark in the mental home sirens are going off and everyone is screaming. The doctor updates us kane has escaped. Then number 30 hits in the royal rumble the lights go out kanes old theme from when he debuted starts playing the big explosion then out walks kane dressed in his attire from the 90s. He demolishs everyone and destroys every one and wins the rumble and then you build it up from there on.

Ok the return of the mask would be great.. We all know it. But alas it's doubtful. What about his hair?? It takes a while to grow hair as long as his was. Sure, he could be bald, kind of like Jason voorhees but I don't know how that would look. The only logical way, and reason for the mask to return, like others above have stated, is if he gets disfigured/burnt in some way..... Ok sure, seems fine, but are we forgetting cody Rhodes?!?! It's just like how they're pushing orton as a madman AND Henry.. Although they're somewhat different. But doubles in wrestling don't work. I think he just needs a change. Maybe let some hair grow back on his head, give the poor cunt his eyebrows back and give him some facial hair.. There's a pic of him on google and he's got some stubble he looks so much better. But the mask would be cool!!

maybe here's an idea, even though he's been written off t.v. have them run some vignettes with kane searching for is inner monster, the darkness, or whatever. hype his return after he finds the missing piece that he once was, like maybe have the whole thing result in him going back to the old house that was in the undertakes wrestlemania vignettes look in a cracked mirror and see masked kane. Not saying he has to bring the mask back just that he realizes the monsters been inside all along. Than he can come back and feud with Henry and eventually win and assert his dominance as the WWE's monster.

Im really hoping he gets in good shape while he's away... but probably wont be gone long enough to get into the shape he was in around 2002... not to mention that he's a lot older now and its a lot harder to get that big as well as not get fat at that age, especially for a man of his height.

The mask wont work either... as we know what he looks like, it would be cool, but so many people in the IWC would moan and moan, maybe just have him wear it for a couple of weeks then take it off himself and say he doesnt need anything to be a monster? or just wear it for his entrance? Plus we've already got the Rhodes thing going on.

But that said, he was in pretty good shape last year when he had time to workout (as he was cutting more promos than wrestling) and was champion so i reckon with this big break he should be able to get into amazing shape, not that it was that bad to begin with, especially if we look at all the other 40plus wrestlers.

One last thing, the devils favourite demon thing? Gotta stop, the old Kane woulda said fuck you to the devil and tombstoned him, even the devil should fear him! Needs to go back to his old music aswell, the one before slow chemical id say, and take away the orange tint from his entrance, just black and red!!

Masked Kane was awesome, but I really doubt we'll be seeing that again.
Isnt the reason why they took the mask off of him was because it gave him trouble breathing, because of the material the mask was made off?
He's gotten older and as such, he isn't as fit as he used to be; that being the case it would be detrimental to his health if he does wrestle with the mask on.

So yeah, enough with the "Kane's mask" threads, why would a 40-year old want to put his health in danger? And if you're fans of his, why would you want to see him put his health in danger?

My ultimate fantasy would have the debut of James Mitchell after a series of vignettes about Kane searching for his true "fire" and he has been consumed by the darkness whle away.. During matches we can have red lights, his organ music, etc...simliar to his initial debut in 1998. From there we can finally have him debut with James Mitchell walking out on the stage and unveiling the new Kane.

He wouldnt have to be heel or face at first and just take out superstars to clarify that he is a monster. Eventually a heel run would work well.

No. The Masked Kane gimmick ran its course. It was better fitted for the attitude era and will not be a good influence on the audience these days since it is PG. IF they go to PG 14 again, then it might work but I don't see them returning with the Masked Kane gimmick again.

If there is ever a time to bring back the mask it would be now. The IWC has been calling for a masked Kane return for ages now and it just never really felt right (except for the time it was Mysterio's mask and not his). However now it sort of makes sense. I've always said Kane will never return with the mask, but now I question that statement. Like Norcs said Kane was talking to Teddy Long about how he has become human and he doesn't really like it. Imagine if at the Royal Rumble the lights go out, the big red boom hits, and then out comes Kane with the mask and hair. I'd tell ya right now that I'd mark like crazy and I'm pretty sure most of us would. Kane still has some left in tank and a run with the mask might be the best way to end his great career.

Father James Mitchell would be the perfect manager for Kane. How that guy is not in the WWE is beyond me, he is by far the best manager in the business and has been for a long time. It is a disgrace that we have not seen him in WWE at any point.

I really do hope we see a return of the masked Kane, even for a short spell. The way Kane had been talking definitely hints to something along those lines, and I think he should be freshened up before his return. The old fans would love to see a masked Kane return, and the young fans would surely enjoy it too, as they will not have seen much of Kane wearing his mask.

To those who say that he has trouble breathing with the mask, you are right, he did. Which is why it got changed in shape towards the later years of wearing it. I am sure there is a way of masking Kane while still allowing him to breathe clearly, it cannot be that hard.

I hope he comes back in even better shape, masked and with his old music. They could film some vignettes where you can't see his face and on the final one he looks up and you finally see what he looks like, and he is wearing a newly designed mask with the long hair over his face, and then you hear Father Mitchell's laughing in the background.

Why is it that these threads always pop up every couple of months? The mask isnt coming back. For one, Kane suffered a leg injury, not a face injury. Secondly, it wouldnt make sense to put the mask back on. Kane said that he had a hard time breathing when he wore it. And on top of that, why put it back on? We already know what he looks like now, so the mystery with the mask would be gone

I would like Kane to return with another gimmick that is more dark, sadistic, brutal, terrifying, and psychotic. I want him to keep the same persona but a gimmick like I discribed. I like the mask gimmick but im just wondering what the explanation would be for him to bring the mask back and it would have to be a good one.

As a huge Kane fan, I really don't even want to see it brought back. The mask served it's purpose and is definitely a part of WWE history, BUT, it rain its course. The idea behind the mask was the disfigurement, the constant mystery which was ALWAYS played up. The mask now would be just an accessory and wouldn't even allow him to give it his best in the ring or on the mic. No way. Mask should not come back. If maybe before he retires, Kane putting the mask on himself and fading away could be interesting because a younger guy can come along and continue the Kane gimmick as if he lives eternal, but I don't even think that would happen.

I'd love to, but it's not coming back. It was removed due to difficulty, and now that Kane is older, less toned than he was before, and hasn't wrestled with it in years, that'd just be an obstacle. Besides, he doesn't have his long hair anymore, and that's what completed the look. A bald Kane in a mask don't look right. And don't suggest a wig, because wigs fall off.
