I pointed out The Miz stealing Jericho's WCW Thunder (pun intended) the other day and that's exactly what it is a rehashing of a forgotten WCW storyline.
The difference is, Chris Jericho from W.C.W had the build of someone who could be a Main Event Wrestler. The Miz, does not. The main issue I have with The Miz storyline right now.. is you go from a Tag Team worker, to suddenly "turning on your partner - because you get drafted", then BAM you attack the main face on the show, who is leaps and bounds ahead of you in every category.
It's like saying Shad goes to Smackdown, and J.T.G goes to E.C.W - so Shad instantly lays out the Undertaker and expects a feud that's believable.
My point is, The Miz hasn't beaten anyone to suddenly make people believe he could even lace John Cena's boots. At this point, Miz is Santino-lite, because he's cutting all these nice promos, but once an actual match comes around I wouldn't be surprised to see Miz be "one and done" after Cena basically no-sells him, F-U..err, Attitude Adjustment's him, then that's that.
The
ONLY way this works for Miz - is to gain an actual victory over Cena. And the
ONLY way this doesn't hurt Cena, is if Big Show is the result of why Miz won a single's match. Miz isn't in Cena's league, and never will be. Regardless of how you push him.
As for Kendrick's partner what about Lance Hoyt. They signed him recently and he is agile for a big man. Vince likes him (I know he does he is a big man) and it could work well.
I never thought of Hoyt, but the only issue there is.. I'm assuming this storyline is leading to Kendrick actually winning the Tag Team Championships with whomever he finally finds that'll remain his partner. Thus, it needs to be someone that won't over-shadow Kendrick - yet someone that isn't dull, or invisible either.
Hoyt made a name for himself in T.N.A, and McMahon may love "bigger" guys, but Hoyt is a weak man's Test.. and further more, once again.. a T.N.A by-product, which means I doubt he'll get a Championship upon debut.
I could be wrong, but not likely unless McMahon suddenly has a soft spot for T.N.A fall-outs.
I'll stick with my *New* Hollywood Blondes theory and see Kendrick pick up Hawkins, Ziggler, or someone else that's blonde. While I believe NorCal will stick with the "Bigger is better" approach and assume he'll find someone similar to Jackson.
As for CM Punk's finisher a buzzsaw kick as his finisher when his entire moveset is already kicks is pretty lame to me.
Tajiri wasn't lame, and his moveset consisted of nothing but kicks. Punk could pull it off, because the one solid bit about his moveset is all his kicks. I'm not saying a buzz-saw kick is the missing link, again I personally like the G.T.S - but I'm saying if he does change it up, a kick seems like the logical way to go, since that's the one bit of his Offense that's already deadly effective.
But a submission sounds like the way to go.
Submission to me, are lame. You have to be a specific type of Superstar to use a submission as a finisher. Technical, would be the term I'm looking for - Punk isn't it.
His Anaconda Vice that he used to use - was the dumbest thing ever, but sadly it was unique and one of a kind as well.
I don't see Punk as the submission expect. I see guy's like Kurt Angle, Taz, and Nigel McGuinness (or was it Bryan Danielson?) as submission experts. Punk is too quick and sudden impact to be the type to slow things down in weardown holds to weaken a body part - which is what you'd need, to use a submission.
A crossface is out of the question for anyone not named Triple H or Shawn Michaels. How about a a Lasso from El Paso that looks painful as hell.
I wouldn't suggest either. The Crossface, be it "forbidden" or "taken" is simply
someone else's favorite finisher. Benoit will ALWAYS be remembered for it, and no one - not Triple H, not Shawn Michaels - NO ONE.. will suddenly replace that.. and if the top two big names on Raw can't, then Punk surely couldn't.
I know I just bashed using a dead guys finisher, but there is so much less controversy with Eddie's death and less people remember the Lasso being connected to Eddie as people do the crossface with Benoit.
As for the Lasso from El Paso - it reminds me too much of the Haas of Pain, and what would you rather fans think of..
"Hey, that's Eddie Guerrero's move" (followed by a chorus of boos) or
"Isn't that Charlie Haas' finisher?" (followed by a silent hush)
The important factor is finding something ALL YOUR OWN. I despise Edge for using the Sharpshooter, when he had a fucking unique signature submission that was basically a reverse Sharpshooter and honestly better looking.
If Punk is going to pick up a submission finisher.. he needs to go steal one from the Ring of Honor guy's, because they're the only non-mainstream Company (they're trying to get there, but not quite yet) that has a ton of great moves no one's ever seen before.
I had a great idea to bring Tomko back into the fold.
I'm listening...
During the inevitable Edge and Christian feud.
Fail. You assume too fan-boy-ish that there will ever be another Edge v. Christian feud. Yes, it'd be nice to see. Yes, it's likely down the road we might get treated to it.. but assuming when, where, and why is too much at this point.
Both are wrapped up heavily in their own storylines and subjects on entirely different Brands to think they'd ever cross paths within this year, or next. If Tomko is going to debut - my guess is you'd want him to do so.. soon.
Have Edge bring him in as his bodyguard.
So, you want Tomko to return to form of what he left the Company trying to better himself from being?
Tomko became his own man in T.N.A.. to prove he could, and to get away from storylines that'd put him right back into "bodyguard" roles. And your perfect idea is to lessen him once again? He deserves better.
Right around the time Tomko gets signed back and is ready to make his WWE return. It will get on the spoiler sites. Maybe even have Vince himself hint that Tomko will be brought in during the Edge/Christian storyline then swerve the smarks by having him join Edge. What do you think of that ?
This is
WAY too much.. first, McMahon wouldn't lower himself to this type of one-off feud. Second, to announce Tomko's returning all because you're afraid rumor sites will kill his momentum - is even worse. You're only giving into the sites, acknowledging they're there.
As for announcing he'll be in the feud, you wouldn't fool anyone into thinking he'd be with Christian - because he's
ALWAYS been with Christian, so it'd make perfect, logical sense, that he'd swerve Christian and join Edge. That's not fooling or tricking anyone.
You wanna great idea on how to bring Tomko into the Edge/Christian feud? Have him play both sides, behind the scenes.. then turn on both of them, to reveal he's HIS OWN MAN! Not only could you get a possible reunion between Edge and Christian for both feeling stupid that Tomko tricked them, but you could get Tomko some serious push into a strong single's career by having him top two of the top guys on E.C.W & Smackdown, respectively right now.
