"Glorifying The Worst" - Curt Hawkins

IT'S BACK!
Now, since I started doing this, AGES ago, I had people like Santino Marella, Colin Delaney & Mark Henry being glorified for being "bad", but we've had Marella holding Tag Titles and recently making his Comeback, Henry becoming the WHC & Delaney, being Delaney.

So I move onto a new subject today, who goes by the name of Curt Hawkins. He's seen on Superstars nowadays if you want to catch him and this is how I would categorise the "worse". Someone, who you may see on TV, or in Hawkins' case, you may not. Also, someone who doesn't really get time to shine as much as he may have used to, but has the potential. Also, they need some sotr of achievements to allow you to "Glorify" them. So let's go.

Joining the WWE in 2007, Hawkins teamed up with Zack Ryder, forming the "Major Brothers". They were given a Tag Title Match, but never managed to capture it. Then, at Armageddon, they began to dress like Edge, then started helping him in the Match, turning them Heel. They became part of the "Rated-R Entourage", which then became known better as "La Familia". At the Great American Bash, Hawkins/Ryder became Tag Team Champions after winning the Belts in a Fatal Four Way Match against Miz/Morrison, Jesse/Festus & Finlay/Swoggle. The guys then lost their titles to Carlito & Primo after La Familia seemed to disband & the two were split in a Supplemental Draft, with Ryder being drafted to ECW.

Hawkins hit a bit of a downer when he voluntarily stepped down to FCW for 8 Months, to take on more training. However, he joined the "Dudebusters" Stable, with Croft & Barretta, winning the FCW Tag Titles, defending under "Freebird" Rules.

Finally, Hawkins returned to Smackdown in May 2010, forming a Tag Team with Vance Archer. They called themselves "The Gatecrashers", attacking MVP & Christian, then going on to not doing that much. They then split when Archer accidentally attacked Hawkins. Hawkins was then drafted to Raw, where he had a brief losing reunion with Ryder. He's now seen on NXT Redemption mainly, teaming with Tyler Reks.

So, What are your thoughts on Hawkins?
How much can you Glorify the "Worst?"

(Also, give me ideas on who to do next!)

I wouldn't call Hawkins one of the worst, he's fairly talented by WWE standards but has just been lost in the shuffle. WWE obviously want this guy to do something because they keep him around. He's been in several tag teams and even had a short program on Smackdown trying to earn his spot with Vance Archer. Now out of the Hawkins and Ryder tag team he is obviously the Marty Janetty because Ryder has been crazy popular while Hawkins has more or less been fading out.

I don't think that Hawkins will ever hold a World Title or even and IC or US title for that matter but I do think that WWE is starting to use guys like him to revitalize the tag division. They've put him with Reks and they've been doing good as a team and I think other guys like Trent Baretta, JTG, Jinder Mahal, and the NXT rookies will also end up being used in tag teams. It's beneficial to all it gives a good tag division, lets them get over while a part of a tag team, and when they decide to break up there's an automatic feud to get them over a singles wrestlers.

Hawkins is decent but very much so lost in the shuffle. He's therefore been a delegate for Superstars which is a shame. He could use teaming up with Zack Ryder and reforming Dudebusters in one form or another, and have them win the tag titles. Zack could get Curt over and make Zack relevant on RAW.

Its hard to make him relevant when he's teaming with someone irrelevant like Reks. Pretty much anyway.

Let's face it Ryder and Hawkins should have never been split up. If not for his internet following Ryder would be on this list with Hawkins. Curt Hawkins did the right thing by asking WWE to go down to FCW for more seasoning, but it may have hurt him in the long run.

A person who may have to be on this list is Yoshi Tatsu. I love the gimmick change but is it too little too late.

I agree here. The two guys together were both brilliant. However, Ryder got the Internet Gimmick, which pushed him right up there in popularity ranks. Hawkins went in the opposite direction, it's a shame. Whether we'll see him grow again, is unknown.

Also, I will take Tatsu on board, he may be next.

I love Hawkins, I just want to see more personality out of him. He's very talented in the ring, and not bad on the mic (when he has it).

The main problem with Hawkins is that he wrestles a ROH style, meaning he's very crisp in everything he does, and he's very good, but he doesn't tell a story in the ring.

I think he should ditch Reks and team with Heath Slater. Both men are very good in ring competitors (can you call people in a worked sport "competitors"? oh well, I just did) and I think they would be a good team. I think they could be a team good for the long hall, and eventually Hawkins can break off and go on his own.

For your next topic, look at JTG.

I wouldn't call Hawkins one of the worst. Hawkins is someone that I think has a lot of potential. He's young, he's athletic, he's crisp inside the ring and he's actually pretty decent on the mic. There's a lot there to work with in my view, he's just someone that's been lost right now.

Like Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins is someone who came to WWE while extremely young. If I'm not mistaken, Hawkins is only in his mid 20s and, the way things are, it looks like WWE wants to push guys that have more seasoning. Guys who are still young but have the credibility of veterans. That's one reason why Triple H wants guys like The Kings of Wrestling. Triple H's belief is that WWE has brought up and brought in guys that are just plain too young. They don't have the experience or maybe even the discipline & maturity necessary. I guess if you think about it, guys like Hawkins are sort of paying their dues right now I guess.

does anyone remember the youtube videos that hawkins and ryder did by themselves when they were the tag champs? i saw those vids (when they were current) and thought that hawkins and ryder could really have a future based on the video THEY made WITHOUT THE MACHINE. plus the whole "triple edge's" in the triple threat match was supposedley their idea way back when. back then, ryder was the comedian and hawkins was the straight man in an odd couple scenario o the youtube vids. id like to see hawkins be paired back with ryder at some point and have ryder be the captain and hawkins doing all kind of ridiculous stuff now, in order to compete with ryder's (and i quote) "internetdarling" status. yeah. i'm still a fan

I honestly dont know who this chris hawkins guy is and why this website keeps on hyping him? I read everything you wrote, looked at the picture....and nothing comes to mind. This guy has clearly failed and is going nowhere quickly....wait scratch that. The guy hasnt even been somewhere in the first place!:lmao:

So he has been in tag teams with:

Zach ryder...Who has sucked horribly for years until recently.
Tyler Reks...Who...Um? Who is he?
And whoever else you listed because i cant remember their names.

This man is full of fail. Fact.

Hawkins and Ryder used to be a tag team of Edge clones. Literally. Then after a tag tean title run Ryder got drafted to ECW where he began his current character. Hawkins then got put in a tag team with the INTENSE Vance Archer known as the Gate Crashers and that didn't last long due to Archer getting future endeavoured. Honestly all Hawkins needs is a character change. It worked well for Ryder and the two are about on par when it comes to in-ring or mic skills. Hawkins could see pushes in the future if they gave him a new character because then he would stand out. Seeing him interact with Ryder by the time Hawkins has gotten a new character could be interesting too given their history.

I quite like him and think a change of gimmick or just an interesting character to run with would do him the world of good. I was thinking something along the lines of a Raven or even a Gangrel gimmick but I am probably being pushed in that direction by his connections to Edge. I think he has talent and is an allround decent wrestler who I enjoy watching... with something creative and interesting that makes him stand out he could make it. He is still young.

Hmm..whatever happend to Vance Archer? Why was he fired? I saw potential...
