Why is Nickelback generally regarded as 'shit'?

Getting Noticed By Management
I'm bored and I've always wondered where the widespread hatred of NB comes from. I don't really listen to them so I can't tell. One of you music gurus get in here and fill me in.

Because all of their songs sound the same and they try to capitalize on that grungy sounding voice without really capturing what grunge is all about. It's basically wannabe 90s music. It's why I can't listen to Pearl Jam anymore.

Before the Pearl Jam faithfuls come in here and rain hell fire upon me, that was a joke. I enjoy the occasional Pearl Jam song from time to time despite the fact you can't understand a damn word Eddy Vedder is saying, and it has no musical relevance two decades after it's height.

I always liked that one song Hero from the first spiderman movie but thats all i've heard.

This one's pretty cool.

Because they are shit!

No,but in all serious. Its probably because they follow a very distinct formula when it comes to writing their music, both in the lyrics and actual music. A lot of fans(well more or less the haters) seem to think they can see right through the band and refused to be played like that.

Its true though, they do follow a very constant formula. But I don't see the big deal,a lot of bands have a very specific pattern in their music and nobody hates on any of them. I guess its mainly because they are popular(right?)well..successful. So they have to hate on something.

"You like Nickelback?"*Points*Ewwwwwww....Yeah they are alright, I don't mind them, they deliver some good rockers and catchy songs. Chads voice is powerful and has a clear distinction in the business. I do find some of his lyrics tacky and a bit obnoxious but that really doesn't stop me from listening to them. When it comes down to it, Nickelback is ether a band you love or hate, to each their own.

Bingo-rama.

Nickelback are basically a second rate Creed, who were a second rate imitation of a grunge band to begin with. It's a terrible cycle of massive ******ry that plagues all of the "post-grunge" rock bands. They will forever be known as the shitty, watered down version of a sound that was done much better before by far more talented artists before them.

So basically fuck Nickelback and may they all die in a kerosene fire. The end.

They're the wrong kind of radio. There's two kinds of radio noise - shit that got on the radio because it's really good shit, and shit that kind on the radio because it sounds like all the other shit on the radio.

Nickelback is the latter.

Yes. What X and JGlass said. Well, except for JGlass' little joking swipe at one of my favorite bands.

Basically, they are considered shit, because they are shit. The only time I wanna hear Nickelback, is when I'm at a Cyclones game, and that Raw opening theme plays. Even then, it's not because it's Nickelback, but because I know I'm about to enjoy some good hockey.

Don't know why anyone would want to hear the Raw opening. Normally a cold open signifies that they're trying.

I'm personally a fan, but not as much as I used to be. Some of the songs on The Long Road are really good, and some are just brown-coloured 'meh'. All the Right Reasons was pretty good when it came out, but got really old really quickly. Then, for some reason, Rockstar ended up becoming really big (no idea why, was never a fan of that song), and the album just ended up getting recycled. And Dark Horse was just... like xfearbefore and JGlass said, just your usual generic rock music. And pretty poor generic rock music.

To sum up, they had some great songs, but they got old real quick, and now liek most people have said, its the same old shit. Dare i say that they're the John Cena of rock music.....?

Because they suck. They have no taste and no soul. They resonate only with whiny bitch ass middle class kids who like that they are "hard" without any real edge or aggression. It's yuppie rock for the new generation.

I hate when Nickelback try to write songs about sex, they just sound like idiots. Most of their later stuff sounds the same. Chad Kroeger is a cunt.

I fucking hate Rock Star and Photograph- they are truly appalling

There are a few of their songs I like- "How You Remind Me" was a personal favourite back in the day, "Someday" is good. So is "Next Go Round", "Never Again" and "If Everyone Cared"...but the majority is soulless, generic radio-friendly rock music.

How You Remind Me rocked when I was in like, 6th grade. Then they made about 200 songs that sound exactly like it and I lost interest. Haven't listened to that song in years.

They are shit and I'm from Alberta I'm supposed to like Nickelback.

Personally I can't stand this band and often get the urge to roshambo with Chad Kroeger in a game I go first.

Don't take anything back, your 100% on center.

Their Post-Grunge. Pretty much every Post-Grunge band not called Foo Fighters is bad because they're trying to capture the spirit of something that they didn't experience first hand.
