Who's Watching Pope?

We've seen over the past few weels that Pope has been doing some things that may be unbecoming of a Pope...

Taking the money for the children to the strip club, making suspect deals over the phone, and last but not least... Buying Pitbull puppies!!! lol

Anyway, after the last segment, Taz said "Someone sure is keeping a close eye on the Pope" and Tenay said something similar last week...

So, who could it be?

A setup for someone like Helms maybe? I could see him doing some kind of hero character to take down the Pope...

Daniels... Fallen Angel versus The Pope...?

Or is it someone on the roster already?

Yeah, it seems Pope is taking a turn down Shady Heel lane, pretending to be a man of the people when he's more becoming of a slum lord or Barrio Boss.

Daniels would be a great matchup to pit against him. Helms... ehh... I don't wanna see this thing turned into a goof feud with swooshing wind soundbytes and lots of delusions about super powers--if "Gregory Helms" the wrestler with an intolerance for shadiness is the man, fine. . I'd rather it just be a righteousness versus corruption angle--not "the Hurricaine".... TNA catering to the kiddy demographic just doesn't seem to fit their style and I don't wanna see that change.

I think who's watching him is not someone already advertised as on the roster unless it's Samoa Joe, who could have a good feud with Pope, I think.

Agreed

Mr Rightenous Daniels would be a good counterpat. The Angel vs the Pope. Sounds good doesnt it and if they're going to have Helms come in then it better not beas the Hurricane gimmick. Helms should come in as "Hurricane Helms" that thing he did in 08-09 with Hurripops and a combination of his Gregory Helms and Hurricane gimmick.

Joe would be a good eprson to feud agaisnt him but because of the size difference and how Joe is so serious it would be boring.

This is all going to lead to some kind of swerve. In the end it will all be a misunderstanding. yeah it couldd be a way to bring someone in but how the hell do u do it? TNA is not known for their storylines making much sense but I can't figure out a way to have a fued start over this. Good way to turn Pope heel but not so good to be a lead in for a new roster member.
On a side note as an owner of a pitbull I was a bit offended by the comments of the "shelter employee". Yeah I get the point that we are supposed to believe that Pope is into dog fighting but to promote the bullshit about all pits being a danger to children or anyone else for that matter didn't set well with me.

Kevin Nash or Matt Hardy could be possibilities as well. Nash was affiliated with Pope before leaving and could be reprising some form of paparazzi productions. If Matt Hardy is heading to TNA framing POPETHEW videos or something like that could be part of the story.

for the last week on TNA the one guy watching is the Pope is Matt Hardy who cant be trusted and will screw the Pope just to get in favor in Immortal just liked his failure of a brother Jeff hardy.

I do not watch TNA that much but my best guess for somebody watching Pope could be Matt "I used to have a paying gig" Hardy or Jeff "i have a serious substance abuse problem" Hardy..I kinda lean toward Jeff..What goes better with the antichrist than a Pope.

I seem to remember that Daniels just signed a year-long contract with ROH...not impossible that it's him, but I would doubt it. Which sucks, because he's been my favorite on TNA through the years. He took an epic beating from Joe on iMpact lo those many years ago!

So that leaves, who? Maybe Nash, he had a thing for cameras when Alex Shelley was with him years ago. They parted with Nash being sort of a mentor, and Pope 'fighting their fight' or however he phrased it, with Nash's latest rants, maybe that foreshadows his return. Could be Matt Hardy, but that would be kind of a waste of an introduction to him in TNA. I'm kind of leaning towards the aborted storyline-no payoff option. They could well say, "Well, it kept him on TV while everyone else was involved in other feuds, let's just leave it as is and say he's a kind philanthropist". It would suck, but they are not above it.

This is exactly the sort of thing I would have guessed. He talks about helping the less fortunate and taking donations... then reveals he's buying hookers and booze and throwing lavish parties for his friends with the money.

There's only one huge problem with this: it's way too subtle for TNA, the company that has someone win a championship belt by interfering in a match they are not a part of that is NOT a Hardcore match with 24/7 defense rule.

I think it could be Matt Hardy using his old Angelic Diablo character. From what I've seen online that's all about righteousness. I hope it's something big coz he hasn't been doing shit recently.

i have a feeling the person "watching pope" is gonna b either Helmes or Matt Hardy because i see both going to TNA very soon matt has his brother and buddy (shannon moore) there and i could c TNA using people like shannon, matt, helmes to turn jeff face when immortal ends saying stuff like "your not like this i know you" etc.

I am really disappointed with the way TNA have booked Pope. Why the holy fuck was he turned heel? The way he had been booked prior to his heel turn, it looked like he would prove to be quite an adversary for The Immortals. He had backing from Sting and Nash, who are two legendary figures in the world of pro wrestling. He had been screwed over by Bischoff after he forced the congregation to turn on the Pope. Everything suggests that he should be a face and continue to fight the Immortals. But instead he is a heel now.

I really do not care who's watching Pope. Why? Because the angle is going to do nothing for either of them. Pope is a heel and he is not a part of the Immortal faction. It would be fair to say that the Immortal storyline is going to dominate TNA for a while. So no heel would really get a chance to establish themselves unless they are a part of the Immortal stable. The guys who have the best chance of establishing themselves as mainstays are the faces who are gonna oppose this huge heel stable.

So yeah I think Pope and whoever this guy Pope will be feuding against would be reduced to having four minute matches on TV or if they are lucky they'll get to curtain jerk a PPV.

It could be Stinger. Sting told Pope to fight the good fight and could be the one keeping an eye on him. Let's not forget that Sting himself has been noted in TNA as being faithful, righteous, and being a man of God so Sting could be the man continuing to keep a tab on Pope while lurking Pope in the shadows to be making sure that he is the right man to fight the fight. His motive would be to reassure that Pope is a true prophet and not a fraud. And when it's said and done, Sting and Pope could do a program only for Sting to put over The Pope.

In case I missed it they never actually showed him using the money at the strip club. They just made everyone assume he did. I don't see how these are signs of a heel turn, but it definitely is a sign of someone returning or debuting with TNA because if it was someone on TV every week it would be kind of stupid.

I have noticed a few people posting they think its Matt Hardy. I would actually like to see that first. I think putting Matt and Jeff together off the bat would be a bit........TNA. Don't get me wrong, I like TNA but lets face it....they don't always make the right choices. A Pope/M. Hardy angle would be interesting. Probably not an epic fued, but something for a filler.

I really think it is Helms...

RVD has a mystery opponent at the PPV... I think that will be Matt Hardy...

Matt Hardy HAS to be involved with Jeff in some way... They are brothers and Jeff is the heel World Champion, it would be stupid to put Matt in a program with with Pope instead of having him come in a join his brother... That's why I think Jeff will make RVD face Matt first and Matt will be on his brotherms side for a few months before they turn hin face and have the Hardy versus Hardy fued...

I think that the person who is following around the Pope is none other than Samoa Joe, to me this makes the most sense they were feuding before Bound for Glory and they continued to dislike each other when all of the faces were coming together to face Immortal afterwards. I think that feud between Joe & Pope could help both guys become, the matches could potentially be very good and the promos could be good to. To me a Joe Pope feud could be Very Good and I would like to see it happen.

I agree. I also think it could be Joe. Joe and Pope never really finished what they started, and I remember Joe claiming that Pope was a con artist of sorts. Maybe he's filming him now to expose him to his fans, ultimately leading into an official Pope heel turn, a Joe/Pope feud where Joe comes out on top.

Let me get this out of the way first: It was a triple threat match. There are no rules in a triple threat match. No DQ's, no Countout's, you or I could interfere and it would be legal.

Anyway, my guess is Samoa Joe. Before Joe left TV for awhile to iron out the details in his contract, Pope was trying to convince Joe to join forces with him to "fight the good fight." Whose to say that Joe isn't interested in knowing exactly what Pope is doing to fight said good fight before he decides to join forces with him? It would also be a logical explanation for Joe's absence from TV to the casual fan. If I had to guess, it would be Samoa Joe. If this is not a swerve and Pope truly is turning heel, this could enable Joe to return to his early days of being the unstoppable Samoan who takes out Immortal by himself.

This should be a good feud. Both Joe & Pope have kind of been left in the dust since BFG. Its will be good to see these guys in action again. I agree with jpickens that this is leading to a Michael Vick type gimmick for Pope. The preacher going bad angle is a good one (happens everyday in real life) and will breath new life into the Popes character, which I thought was getting a little stale.

Until i read the thread i thought it would be Helms or some1 like Hernandez returning, you know some1 new coming in or back to TNA.BUT after reading i am definately feeling the Joe VS Pope fued.I must admit i am a PoPe mark, i was starting to like him and when i researhed him i found out he is from my hometown and we have some mutual friends, so that just launched him into my top 5. being AJ,STING,ORTON,POPE & ROBERT ROODE.
ANYWAYS my point is i think Pope turning heel & potentialy this fued with Joe would be great for him.I started watching TNA in the main event mafia days, and i was intuduced to Joe, and he might have a sloppy build or whatever, but thats what makes him different.the man is not out of shape, hes just a big boy.and he always puts on a great match, and when he gives small and medium build wrestles the muscle buster it looks devestating.but ever since easy-e & Hogan took over management has just mis used & abused Joe.so i am hoping him and pope do fued and it is a long one that comes out with them both looking better.pope and joe are definatly main event material in TNA & i think If they dont get pushed you could see both these guys in WWE main event scene. same goes for AJ & Roode.them 4 belong in the big leauges!!!
