Who Is Your Favourite Wrestler In WWE/TNA?

So yes, it has been while since I saw one of these threads and thought I would try and get some input from the fair people of WrestleZone Forums. WWE and TNA have went their separate ways since January 4th but both promotions have been making slow and steady progress towards becoming what they want to be. The WWE have introduced a lot of talent, stemming from the Nexus and otherwise and TNA have managed to stop the progressive rot in their company by getting rig of the older deadwood. No longer do the likes of The Nasty Boys plague our Thursday nights and it is not before time.

However, over the last few months, we have seen wrestlers change alignments and become generally more over. When you look at people like Randy Orton and Sheamus, it is hard to dismiss the fan reaction that they get despite being closer to heel mentality than face. Conversely, you have to look at the likes of AJ Styles who has fallen from grace slightly since Ric Flair began mentoring him. Yes, a lot has happened in both promotions as of late and I would love to hear from you as I ask:

Who is your favourite star from each promotion?

WWE – It has to be the one and only John Cena. As of late, I have been turning into a weeping little girl every time he comes on the screen and it shows no signs of stopping any time soon. As you can probably tell from my signature, I am a John Cena mark and I just love everything about the guy. I definitely think that he hasn’t done anything to warrant the reaction he gets and as I see him both inside and outside of the ring, I grow increasingly impressed by his overall demeanour and the fact that he may be one of the most down to Earth people in the WWE and beyond. I watched him do Karaoke on YouTube and just thought that he was such a character. In the WWE, no one even comes close to him in my eyes, not even The Game Triple H… And I adore Triple H.

TNA – Kurt Angle! That is all I have to say to that one. He is simply the best talent that TNA has ever purchased and although he is getting on a bit now, continues to be the greatest in-ring talent in the history of TNA. He doesn’t do matches that are not entertaining and I have gravitated towards him ever since I first saw him debut in the WWE.

But who does the trick for you guys?

WWE: I'll go with John Cena. I've been a mark for him for as long as he's been in the WWE. I loved his rapper gimmick and I do miss it, but I'm fine with his current gimmick. I'm fine with his in ring skills and think he's pretty good. He has great mic skills, just sometimes he makes some really lame jokes.

TNA: AJ Styles is my choice. I don't hate how he's changed since being managed by Flair unlike most. I do admit that he makes a much better face than a heel in ring, but I think on the mic he makes better heel promos. I love his versatility in the ring: being able to fly well, brawl good for a guy his size, and his good technical skills. AJ is my favorite wrestler going right now and my second favorite of all the times. I'm a big AJ mark and I doubt anything can change that.

I have to agree. Working with Flair clearly helped AJ become more comfortable with his promos which in my mind has pushed his abilities even higher. As for my favorites picking just one for TNA is tricky right now so I will skip it. For wwe about the only person I really like for all-around ability is CM Punk. Great promos, interesting character and a plus worker. Hopefully eventually he gets the full respect he deserves from those with the political clout in the WWE.

WWE i would have to say Randy Orton. But only as a heel. He is a better heel by far.His Mic skills are actually showcased unlike when hes a face.

In TNA i would say Kurt angle as well. His in ring ability is amazing sim[le as that.

As far as the WWE goes, they are always a few that are my favorites, I can never pick one as there are just too many fantastic charecters.

Chris Jericho- Jericho is always a favorite of mine, even as a young mark, I would always secretley cheer for Jericho to myself, he's an awesome in-ring worker, can work the mic and the crowd flawlessly, and is one of the most unselfish employees in the WWE.

Triple H- Same goes for Trips, I've always loved him. He's got a great look, and has one of the coolest entrances you'll ever see. Many of the IWC overlook the fact he's one of the best in ring workers in the WWE, he can brawl or wrestle a technical masterpiece, not to mention he's one of the best heels the WWE has ever had.

Edge- If you're looking for a guy who climbed his way from the bottom of the food chain, to the top, look no further than Edge. He had a slight singles push, managed to get over almost flawlessly, moved to the tag division, held the tag team titles, split from his partner, and the rest is history. What we are left with today is one of the best heels this buisness has to offer and even though he's not as spry and athletic as he used to be, he's still a fine worker.

The Undertaker- One of the main reasons I kept watching wrestling after I first saw it, as a kid, and still today I was and still am enthralled (at one time a bit frightened) with his character and I made sure to tune in to see what this crazy mofo would do next.

So there is my WWE list, sorry for now picking one, like I said there are just too many, if I had to choose one, I'd probably pick Edge. So with that being said, I only have 2 TNA favorites and they are:

The Black Pope D'angelo Dinero- Quite possibly my favorite active wrestler today, an extremely well rounded character with great in ring and mic work, he's one of the bright spots in TNA and in wrestling in general. He does a great job of mixing the old style of "wrasslin" with the new era of "sports entertainment".

Kurt Angle- What can I say, one of the best wrestlers alive today, a fantastic in ring technician, a highly developed charecter, and safe to say, a legend in this buisness.

WWE- The Miz. Ever since he got rid of the whole Anti-Cena thing, I have loved his work. He became the determined heel that will do whatever it take to win. When I started watching wrestling again last summer, I hated him. But when he changed, he became the first heel that I like. His in ring work isnt the best, but it gets the job done. His mic work is getting better and better and soon enough, he'll be the best talker in the business.

TNA- Kurt Angle/Mr. Anderson. I dont watch much TNA. In fact, I dont think I have ever watched a full episode. But when I do check in, I do it to see these two guys. Its mostly WWE nostalgia with Angle. As for Anderson, I never saw any of his work with WWE. I didnt watch wrestling then. But I had heard good things so I checked him out on TNA and he is simply entertaining. No one else in TNA entertains me, whether its on the mic or in the ring, besides Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson.

Im going to say my favorite heel and face of wwe and tna

WWE (face): Randy Orton - Ive always been a fan of this guy, even when he sort of fell out of flavor after Triple H screwed him over. I loved it when he returned as "the viper" and just started RKOing everything in his path. it was great and still is today.

WWE (heel): Chris Jericho - Im not sure if anything I say hasnt been said already about this guy! he is the best in the world at what he does. I believe has taken over HBK's role :worship:

TNA (face): Jeff Hardy - I started watching wrestling around 2001 (yes i was a kid back then and loved jeff) but hey he is the first guy i really liked and admired. I was upset when he left but marked the F out when he returned. He has had his personal issues, but who doesnt? He overcame everything and won his 3 world titles he deserved.

TNA (heel): AJ Styles - Similar to hardy in a lot of aspects as styles is the reason i got into TNA. This guy has done some amazing things. Yes i hate his whole heel thing right now, mainly cause its just so hard to take him seriously as a heel. He looks good with the nature boy by his side though.

WWE: Randy Orton (as my username might suggest :)) Just love the ruthless, almost clinical way he goes about his business. Though I will say the whole banging on the mat like a crazy person is getting a bit much. If he toned it down a little bit I think it would be better.

TNA: Going with a team here. I just really like the Motor City Machine Guns. I think they are fantastic in the ring and are both good on the mike. Though I won't be getting Victory Road (only get the big WWE PPV's) I will be hoping to tune in the following Thursday to see the Tag belts arounds their waists.

WWE: Let it be noted that by "favorite" I'm simply selecting my favorite from what I consider to be an overall pool of fantastically sub-par performers – at least in comparison to what the WWE/F used to own. That said, CM Punk is my favorite WWE superstar right now, for two reasons:

1. He breaks the conventional mold held of what an atypical representation of a WWE superstar represents.

2. His promo work is fantastic, and a total throwback to the days of old because he has a fantastic personality – not something the majority of the WWE's roster can lay claim to.

--

TNA: Hard to say, really, because the roster IMO is packed full of so many highly talented individuals, but if the gun is to my head, it's Desmond Wolfe, who IMO is the pinnacle of TNA's future in the ring, and much like Punk is a total counterweight to the orthodox approach to pro-wrestling characters that's been established since the mid-80's, and again like Punk, Wolfe's vocal talent truly helps to push him into that upper ecehelon.

There are a lot of great wrestlers on both rosters so this is a pretty hard decision.

WWE - My favorite wrestler in the WWE has to be Randy Orton. Orton is really good in the ring and he has great promo's. I also love the Viper gimmick, it's really fitting. The thing I really like about Orton is how quickly he can snap off an RKO, because it reminds me of Stone Cold Steve Austin and it gives the match a sort of feeling of suspense because you never know when the match can end.

TNA - My favorite wrestler in TNA is Kurt Angle. He is getting up there in age but he seems to be performing really well. Ever since going to TNA, Kurt has broadened his move set and I think it's great. He goes up to the top rope in matches all the time now, he rarely did that in the WWE. I remember watching his ladder match against Mr. Anderson and I was really surprised when Kurt hit a missile drop kick off the ropes to knock Anderson off the ladder. Kurt's current push seems to be destined for the title so even though I rarely watch TNA, I give them props for making a good decision with Kurt.

WWE
I'm going to have to say Daniel Bryan The Miz. The Miz is a true success story in the world of wrestling. An ascended fanboy if you will. He started off as a fan on a reality show, and blossomed into one of the best promo-cutters in the WWE and a future world champion. Not only do I enjoy his work, I can't help but admire the passion he has for the business. He used to be horrible in the ring and on the mic, but he's busted his ass and has improved a hundredfold. He's living his dream, and you can tell he's enjoying it by how much work he puts in day in and day out. He's fantastic.

TNA
The one and only Kurt Angle. I've always really liked Kurt. He's great on the mic and in the ring, and a top storyteller. He is one of the best things about wrestling, even now. He's fun to watch, fun to love, fun to hate, and is just fan-freakin'-tastic all around. He can work with anyone and make it good. It's worth watching TNA for him alone. He may be getting up there in age but he can still go and go well, as evidenced by his five star matches against Anderson and Wolfe.

i think my username and sig say it all.

CM Punk and Randy Orton, although i liked him better as a heel, both are so great, CM Punk is so good he can give the same promo 2009430938 times and still be good. and they both can perform in the ring on such a high level

and i dont really watch TNA but from what ive seen probably AJ styles

My favorite WWE wrestler is Triple H - he has always interested me due to him being one of the top dogs in WWE when it comes to who to beat, he's one of the WWE definitions of "The man" and everything he has ever done in his career has interested me and kept me a huge fan of his.

He has held a lot of championships, and I am probably one of the few people that would love to see him get more championship reigns, it's the little mark in me that just loves watching Triple H, everything from promos to wrestling.

My favorite TNA wrestler is Kurt Angle - I know it's mostly due to the fact that I loved him in WWE and I think he's one of the overall greatest wrestlers currently active, perhaps ever, he puts on great matches, he has put over talent now, and in the past brilliantly in great and entertaining feuds.

Honorable mentions would be:

WWE: Chris Jericho - he is also one of my all time favorites as well as Triple H, and everything he touches in terms of feuds, matches and promos comes off great, he's great at making anybody else he wrestles look great.

TNA: Matt Morgan - I watched TNA a bit during his feud with Kurt Angle, and I watched his promo on Jay Lethal last night, he is good in the ring, he has one of the better builds of the business as well as being above average on the microphone, he is just the complete package in terms of talents and potential.

WWE really lost a great potential in this guy, he could very well have been a solid main event wrestler due to having all this talent.

WWE: Has got to be CM Punk or Edge. :)
TNA: I can't really watch it much because it isn't on TV here but what I've seen... I love The Beautiful People and of course Jeff Hardy. ( Probably could tell by my name )

;D

WWE-Edge
I have always been an Edge-Head.He plays a great heel and while his face run may have not been good and only seemed to work for the word Spear. He is still a great wrestler. He can go in the ring and on the mic as well.

TNA-Kurt Angle
This guy is what wrestling should be, he is great on the mat and as he once said has an escape for every hold.It may even be turn, his ankle lock is feared and once locked in the match is nearly always over.

WWE:
I understand where people come from picking Randy Orton since he is arguably the biggest star in WWE and wrestling today. I think I will have to go with Edge since he is one of a few people in the WWE that can actually bring it to the ring and cut a great promo. Edge has been one of the best heels in WWE over the years. I feel that Edge can feud with anyone and put them over.

Honorable mention will have to go to the Undertaker for being a ring leader in the WWE. The time is rapidly approaching for him to hang up his boots, but the man always delivers in his matches.

TNA:
This was hard to pick because of the immense talent TNA has now. I have to say that overall Kurt Angle is my favorite. The man is arguably the best wrestler in the U.S today, and at his age can go even better then people half his age. The man selflessly puts over talent in and out of the ring. He goes to great lengths to promote TNA and to entertain the fans. I haven't seen one bad match with Kurt Angle any time during his wrestling career.

Honorable mention
goes to Ric Flair. The man probably shouldn't be wrestling anymore, but he still has the energy and desire to go. Some may find Flair overbearing, but I think it is refreshing to see a veteran give 110% in everything he does. The man is putting over talent while cutting some of best promos anyone has ever seen in a long time. Without Flair in TNA, Jay Lethal would still be a jobber on Xplosion. AJ Styles and Kazarian would probably be in a lesser role without Ric.

The man has a true love for the business and I feel like I am witnessing something special every time Flair is on the mic.

First off I wanna say that my first pick doesn't count toward my fave, but he'll never do wrong in my eyes:God Cena. He has personified the business for several years now,and has been a shining example to all.He realizes how much of an affect he has on young lives and does his best to maintain a positive life and career, and I love him for that.

But my absolute favorite superstar has to be Zack Ryder.I love his music(my ringtone) I love his promos(WWW YKI is my text message signature) and I loved his former ring attire.HE said he had to get rid of it on twitter but I actually didn't see it until just a few minutes ago.Damn near cried...

my original faorite superstar was jeff hardy hes just a fantastic wrestler and gets the fans going but ever since i started watching TNA i must say my favorite wrestler is the one guy that deserves more than getting 1 match against kurt angle and losing and thats amazing red now he may not be on the top of the roster buts hes an amazing high flyer.

WWE - One of my favorite guys in WWE is CM Punk. The guy is awesome on the mic and his promos remind me of the Attitude Era. Could you imagine Punk/Rock or Punk/Austin? That would have been gold. Not to mention the guy was one of the best indy wrestlers in the world, so his in-ring work isn't too shabby.

Honorable mention would go to Randy Orton. He was probably my favorite a couple months back when he was still tweener. I don't really like how he's going full out babyface though, even seeing him in the good guys corner in the Raw main event this past week was just weird.

TNA - My favorite guy in TNA hands-down is Kurt Angle. I've always liked Kurt, and I marked out when he came to TNA. He's been putting on classic matches for the past 10 years, and he never ceases to amaze me. That moonsault off the top of the cage at Lockdown against Anderson was probably the coolest thing I have seen this year in pro wrestling.

Honorable mention - If we're talking early TNA, I would have said Styles for my favorite, hands down. But lately, with the heel turn and not having as great of matches as he once had, I had to slip him down to a honorable mention. Im still a AJ mark, but im hoping for a face turn because that's where AJ is really at his best.

WWE: Chritian or Edge. I grew up laughing at these two guys and always thought they'd be something in the future. Both are great performers and both have great mic skills. Edge is hated by so many WWE fans and gets huge heat. But when the crowed boos, i get goose bumps and laugh. Christain has never really had light shined on him. which is a huge mistake. Very Entertaining.

TNA: I'm going to go with everybody else and say Kurt Angle. There's really no need to expain it. He's the new Shawn Michaels. Can put anyone over, has hour long 5 star matches, done it all in the ring and then some.

Well I don't watch TNA that often but if I had to pick, it would DEFINATLEY be

Jeff Hardy - I loved this guy when he was in the WWE and i still love him today. His character is so unique and I love the energy and charisma he brings in the ring.

Now to WWE... Im a GIANT WWE fan and this one is hard. Im going to split it into two sections, heel and face.

FACE:

John Cena - He's the face of the company... enough said.

The Undertaker - I love his character and he puts on amazing matches. Plus the guy is 18-0 at WM.

HEEL:

Edge - I love when his eyes bug out and he gets this crazed look on his face before he hits the spear. Plus his mic skills are AMAZING.

CM PUNK - Now this guy can really draw some heat. He is an all aroung amazing preformer and is always entertaining to me.

Randy Orton - He has really good mic skills as well and I love his viper gimmick. He's an outstanding athlete and his matches are never boring.

WWE- EDGE
if i can remember whos still in that show i would have to say edge because hes done his fair share of insane stuff in the past and also he really is the ultimate oppotuniest. he uses his oppotunities well and hes against the crowd which i like. Triple H would be my second choice.

TNA- RHINO
ECW ECW original ecw were the good old days and since it no longer exists everyone has to move on and leave ecw in their good memories. Rhino did insane stuff back in ecw and has in tna in the past. i dont know where the future lies ahead for Tna but the ecw takeover might get some ring actions for the old ecw people. Dr Stevie would be my second choice.

Rhino.jpg

TNA: Desmond Wolfe- I think this guy is the most complete guy in TNA (behind Kurt Angle). If given the opportunity, he can be their biggest heel. He can cut one hell of promo, once again, when given the chance. He can put on a great match, ONCE AGAIN, when given the opportunity.

I just can't spot a weakness in this guys game. Kurt Angle is probably the best guy they have, but Kurt in TNA just isn't what Kurt was in WWE, and I think that takes him out of the running for me. AJ's probably, along with Kurt, TNA's best in-ring performer, but I don't think he's on the same level as Wolfe on the mic. It's just a damn shame that Hogan and company do not see what I see in DW.

WWE: Randy Orton: Honestly, this isn't even close. He is my favorite wrestler since Steve Austin. He has the natural bad-ass look and attitude I look for in a wrestler. I think he's the most solid in-ring performer they have, despite what some of you say. Not only does he hand out punishment in the most convincing manner in wrestling today, but he can sell. He sells as well as anyone out there, and that's always been an underrated part of his game.

When given the chance to cut lengthy promo's, he's pretty damn good. He has a natural flow while speaking, meaning he doesn't sound scripted (like Matt Hardy or Shelton Benjamin). I wasn't a huge fan of him before he came back from injury in 2008, but I thought he caught fire after that. He just looked as though he was much more determined and focused, and made him more interesting to watch. Since then, I don't see anyone on his level.

Honorable Mention-TNA: AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, MCMG
Honorable Mention-WWE: CM Punk, William Regal, Chris Jericho

In the WWE my favorite wrestler is Randy Orton. I really like his viper gimmick and his entrance music. Plus I like the way he can RKO somebody at a moments notice.

In TNA my favorite wrestler is AJ Styles. I'm not a big fan of him being a heel right now, but I like all the high flying moves he does.

RAW: between miz and randy orton. both have great gimmicks, good in ring skills and AWESOME mic skills (pun intended for miz haha)

SMACKDOWN: probably christian. i believe a world title shot for him is decades overdue and he always is funny on the mic. especially when he was on team kofi kingston. "We're team kofi kingston and we'ere looking for a fight. Four of us are black, and one of us is white WHAT'S UP?"

TNA: Kurt Angle/Mr. Anderson. Angle is bar none the best wrestler of all time. best in technician, best on mic, great moveset,a nd no matter his alignment always gets a reaction. Mr Anderson has been on a roll in TNA and his wrk in WWE was always fun.
