Who Is HHH's Greatest Rival?

CM Steel

A REAL American
We've seen many sides of Triple H from over the years. But at the end of RAW this past Monday night when Triple H came out and helped out CM Punk fight off the "returning" R-Truth & the Miz in his standard outfit, denuim blue jeans and black T-Shirt. The Triple H that we know. But in the 15-16 years that Triple H has been in the WWF/E. Who has been Trips greatest rival? Let's take a "trip" back in time...

1. Stone Cold Steve Austin: Had a great rivalry with each other over the years over the WWF/E championship. It got really personal when it was discovered that it was Triple H who paid off Rikishi to run Stone Cold down with a car. where the feud ended with a "3 stages of hell" match where Triple H won the epic match-up.

2. The Rock: Triple H & the Rock brought each other up during the attitude era years. With feuds over the WWF/E IC title and the WWF/E world title. With them competeing against each other in a epic "iron man" match in early 2000 at the Judgement day pay per view.

3. Mick Foley: How could I not put Mick Foley on this list? Triple H and Mick Foley (as Mankind) had one of the most violent feuds heading into the attitude era, and within it. Triple H retired Mick Foley (the first time around) in february of 2000 in a violent "hell in a cell" match. But what hasn't both Triple H and Mick Foley done to each other?

4. The Undertaker: Triple H is a ghost out of the Undertaker's Wrestlemania past. They'll wrestled there twice against each other, in where the Undertaker won both matches. But both Triple H and the Undertaker brought out the big fight out of each other each time whenever they went at it in the ring. And does anybody remember when the Undertaker kidnapped Stephanie McMahon?

5. WWF/E chairman Vince McMahon: The future & now present in-laws have been going at it ever since late December '99 when Stephanie McMahon turned on her father Vince to join her future (real-life) husband Triple H after their hellish match-up. I thought that was kinda odd that the two went at it on RAW on the 5th year anniversary of 9/11 in NYC ar MSG. But the two have since joined forces ever since the Triple H-Randy Orton feud heading into Wrestlemania 25.

So all in all. Who is Triple H's greatest rival? In WWF/E history that is Alex Wright fans!

You left out Shawn Michaels! They had some great matches. Yes, they were friends half the time but the other half they seemed to be mortal enemies. My favourite moment was when they teased a DX return. Just after the entrance, Triple H attacked and destroyed HBK. It shocked everyone.
They had plenty of main event matches and showstopping moments. Sorry but I gotta say Shawn.

Its hard to say his greatest rival!! SCSA i would have to say those two in 01 i believe it was had some wars against one another!! SCSA has the slight edge

Umm you are missing HBK. Of course we all know they are real life best buddies. When HBk in 2002, they reformed DX for one night only but when they were doing their DX routine HhH pedigrees HBK and leaves him laying. a few weeks later HhH put HBKs head through a windshield. That forces HBK out of retirement and they have that classic summers am match in 2002. HHH has the last laugh by smacking HBK with a sledgehammer in the back. HBK makes his return again in survivor series and wins the Title. This leads with the battles with evolution. Finally their rivalry ends in bad blood 2004 in the violent HIAC match.

The Rock without a second thought. They had great matches when they were both in the midcard and they kicked it up even higher in 2000. Their ladder match was one of the best in history and I thought their Iron Man bout was better than Shawn and Bret's.

Immediately SCSA came to my mind when I read the title, it's just what I think.

Although the Rock is right behind, the DX feuds with the Corporation were pretty good.

One of the things that holds back the Taker from being a little higher, is that Stephanie was kidnapped a few times, the ones I'm remembering was from before the Mcmahon Helmsley era (although it's a good chance I'm misremembering.

Just like i picked HHH as Rock's biggest rival im picking Rock as HHH's biggest rival.

Obviously they both feuded for both the I.C and Heavyweight title. They lead rival factions.

Rock is the obvious answer.

Kurt Angle could also go on this list. He had the love triangle thing going with Steph and Kurt seemed to always be up in Triple H's business forever.

I would go with the Rock as they fought each other fromMaivia days to DX/Nation feuds, to IC title to World title... Shawn Michaels would be second then Austin...

One that I would refer to as the dark horse in this proverbial race would be his feud with Chris Jericho. Great matches, great trash talking, great reaction from the crowd. Even the DX/ Jeri-Show feud was entertaining. Although it may not be as popular as some other, one would be an idiot to claim the rivalry between those two ring generals did not deliver every time.

I would vote for the Rock for greatest rival with HBK second. The Rock and HHH battled up and through the ranks. They've had great matches and they've never been on the same side of anything. HHH/HBK feuds were brutal because they almost seemed real. The beatings them two gave to each other made it worthy of a #2 vote. It's hard to put his best friend as his greatest rival.

The Rock hands down... When those two had matches or cut promos u actually felt as if they hated each other right down to the core.

Rock called HHH's wife (though they werent married then) a **** almost all of the time. Whenever those two were in the ring it used to lead to a fistfight and despite that their main event matches never lost steam like they nowadays if the main eventers come to blows before the match. There was the entire DX behind HHH which made rock hate (kayfabe) him even more.

SCSA had a rivalry with him but they became partners way later on.

Jericho.... not really they had a good HIAC match and a solid wrestlemania main event but thats about it.

mankind. close second to the rock. these two (kayfabe) HATED each other. HIAC street fights hardcore matches. god knows how much these two have done. whenever they were in the ring there was blood.

HBK. once again not really. they were friends and partners MOST of the time in the WWE. just one feud between 2002-03. after that they just avoided each other until the dx thing came. and really i liked them more as partners than rivals.

undertaker: shouldnt even be on the list. wrestlemania (both ones) dont even count as rivalries. just 2 extremely good and solid matches for the card

randy orton: once again not really bordering on shouldnt be on the list. nice feud with the legacy angle but overshadowed by vinces involvement. and they had an ok feud when randy first won.

It all comes back to the Rock. The feud which lasted a year with constant back and forths between the two. And lets not forget the Nation vs DX and when Rock first won the IC title.

His Ego. He's thought he was the best thing pro wrestling had to offer for over 10 years, when although he's good, he isn't the best and will never be considered the best.

Triple H's battle is internal.

Hes had some great opponents in HBK, Cena, Orton, Rock, Batista, and Austin, but he's never thought anyone was as great as he is. Again he thinks hes the best an no one will ever live up to his greatness

hhh is proving he really is that damn good because we cant make up our minds on who his greatest rival was...so that means he has had a list of great rivals... as hunter herse helmsley he had gold dust and rocky mavia as hhh he had goldberg, the rock, stone cold, shaun michals, undertaker, and now he had a good feud with cm punk...this guy keeps going...im mostly impressed that he is so relevant despite the fact that this is a guy that debut with wwe when guys like savio vega was on there.

Batista, randy, ven the wcw as dx are also good ones...

i still remember how he dodged brock lesnar,,,brock was sent to smackdown and hhh was awarded the heavy weiht title for the raw brand at the time.

The obvious and most logical choices are definitely The Rock and Stone Cold, he had excellent feuds and matches with both men that are unforgettable. My favorites though would go to Orton and Jericho, they might not be remembered as the same level as his feuds with Rock, SCSA, or HBK but Orton's was great because of the history they had as partners in Evolution and then Orton grew into a true superstar and it became almost teacher vs student, excellent feuding between the two and great matches.

Jericho is not one that many would think of but Jericho's big break to the world title scene in the WWE was with HHH and continued to be for some time, they had some amazing matches and the promos that Chris would cut where he would bash Steph only to piss off HHH and make him lose his head against Y2J was just classic. Their work together didn't just get Chris to the next level when he was a rising star, the stuff that we saw between those guys was gold and benefited both men.

Your list is half assed and doesn't even deserve any serious replies.

You missed out quite possibly his longest running feud that was bathed in so much history (Shawn Michaels) from friends to foes to cohorts both persona's evolved with the time both won world titles and paved their own paths and together they put on some hellish awesome matches, wether it was on RAW or PPV.

No HBK?! Wow

Anyway, Rock is HHH's biggest rival. They fought each other through out thier careers. From thier rookie days all the way to their prime. The rivalry between these two was based on real life hatred. Both of them was supposed to be the future of the company, and each one of them wanted to eliminate the other from that picture. One thing for sure, they bought the best out of each other. Hell, HHH himself said that rock is his biggest rival, then comes HBK.

Although I tend to lean towards Rock & HBK my personal choice is Batista...Mainly because, to me, this was a feud that showed that, if he wanted to, Triple H could really elevate someone to main event level. It was a long running thing and Triple H pretty much carried the whole thing...

Yeah the matches with Rock & HBK were better but, with Batista, he created a true main event level player and, from how that effected WWE for a fair few years, that was more important to me...Plus Triple H never actually got a main level win on Batista either, which puts him in a rare category.

Also can't believe that his feuds with Duke "The Dumpster" Droese and Henry O Godwin aren't on the list...as well as his attempts at trying to make Mantuar civilised.

And props to the dude who said his struggle was internal, very true.

I'd have to go with Shawn Michaels due to their overall quality of matches as well as the quality of the storylines usually done involving their friendship to add drama to their rivalry.

I amdrunk as shti and reaidng this but who can u leave off HBK>? they tosn of great matches agianst and with and segments togehter. Summerslam 02 was my presonal fave but there many others. When u think HHH u think HBK nad vice versa...friends rivals adn whatever else...its gotto be HBK...perido

Trip's main rival IMO has to be the Rock. They went back and forth over the IC and World title for the better part of five years. Even before they both led opposing factions in DX and NOD.

I believe Triple H’s greatest rival was the Rock with Randy Orton coming in at second. Now, I’m not saying The Rock’s greatest rival is Triple H. Keep that in mind. Both led the D-Generation X and the Nation Of Domination against each other in an epic Stable War. They have exchanged the Intercontinental Championship with each other twice. Triple H and the Rock have exchanged the WWE Championship with each other 3 times. This alone is why I think The Rock is Triple H’s greatest rival.

Has anyone brought up nose hairs yet? :)

For me it is Foley. I know the feud was never as big as HHH's feud with the other main eventers but I enjoyed this feud as much as any. It helped establish both guys as main eventers lasted the right amount of time of was extremely well done and creative.

Regardless, it is hard to argue against HBK, Rock or SCSA. No matter what people think of HHH he has had some really great memorable feuds and helped make a lot of guys look stronger. If broomstick even gets his shot, we will see what HHH can do for him.

without a doubt, it has to be The Rock. they encountered each other from 1998-2002 at least once a year. In mid 1999-October 2000, they were THE feud in the WWF. Yeah Foley fought Triple H at RR and NWO, but you knew that it was all leading up the battle with The Rock. there's no way someone could convincingly argue that SCSA was his greatest rival, that's like arguing that SCSA is the greatest WWF superstar ever....nope

Shawn Michaels.

Why? They're best friends, and we all know it. That makes it about as personal as it can get. Foley, Rock, Austin, Vince, Kurt Angle, Jericho - none of them were really HHH's friend. HHH was a heel (mostly) while doing battle with these guys, so it was just another feud. That doesn't mean he didn't have excellent feuds with the guy mentioned before, but none of them were as personal as it was with HBK.

I would say his second greatest rival would be Randy Orton. Like Michaels, there was an actual relationship there (kayfabe), which we saw on screen. Maybe they didn't put on five star classics, but their feuds were always fun. Austin and Foley are up there as well.

Orton, ever since he first won the title they have been against eachother, all the way leading up til Orton ddt'd his wife....No one has worked better against him except maybe the Rock, jsut because they build up eachother so much.

1. Orton, some of his most heated, Orton's First title, when Orton got surgery, when Orton took out the Mcmahon Family...which was one of the best storylines in wrestling "period", until they killed the finish.
2. Rock, great matches that made them both stars
3. SCSA, had some fun, but nothing compared to the top two
4. HBK, i know they are usually on the same side, but still
5. Vince, Vince is a good Rival for all the top guys.
