Who Cried During Ric Flair's Fairwell Speech?

unfortnately i didnt get to see his match or watch raw last night
but i am goin really miss watching him and i hope he becomes a gm of one the brands
espicialy since all the gms stink right now

I didn't cry, but it was definitely emotional. I, for one, am always glad when we can see the superstars out of kayfabe, such as in a memorial show (of course, I'm not glad to see someone die, though). That's why I'm a little ticked that they didn't show us the Undertaker and Vince's segment. I know, Undertaker "has to stay in character, doesn't do interviews, blah blah blah" and Vince is "the heartless bastard" and so forth, but come on, its not like anybody believes that Mark is actually a dead man with super powers and that Vince is as despicable of a person as he is on screen. It would've been nice to see, especially on Vince's part, as he's been the same character non-stop for upwards of 10 years straight. I'd like a breath of fresh air.

That being said, it was nice to see Edge as the leader of the backstage crew coming out. The more I see of Copeland, the more I respect him. He easily is one of the most talented, but on top of that, he really cares for "the business" and his fellow workers. Edge's speeches are always a highlight of a memorial show, his promo at WrestleMania was one of the best in a long while cause it was from the heart, and his admiration for Flair shows as well. It was also nice to see Big Show, a guy with enough power behind him to murder someone with ease lol, at a very level playing field on an emotional plane. Paul wasn't "the Big Show, I'm gonna beat your ass, rawr, die you babyface!", he was just Paul.

Flair wasn't the greatest of all time by any stretch, but he is definitely one of the most influential men in the sport's history, if not just for being a role model for other wrestlers like Michaels, Edge, and Levesque. He deserved a nice send-off, and received one, so hopefully we won't sit through 3 more months of Flair-worship lol.

I for one hope they put the entire Flair Farewell Address on the DVD when they release WM24, and I mean both the stuff we saw on RAW and the stuff that happened after RAW went off the air

I'll agree to that, they need to put the entire farewell on the dvd as a bonus feature... From what I've read, I'm sure they filmed it in its entirety, so they have the footage...

I cried during Flair's Farewell,I tried to hold back but when Triple H came out and told Flair he loved him thats when I started also. Thank You Naitch for the Memories,You Are The Man Woooooo.

i did a little. most of the tears came out at the hofm on saturday night. the part that got me was when he showed the real side of flair. when he thanked his ex wifes for raising his kids and for not really being around much to raise them. it made him more then a wrestler to me.

Eh didnt cry during the goodbye ceremony, bit I did during the match at Mania. When He got up with his fists raised, already crying I was like "...mmaaannn...fuck....".....and when he took the shot and couldnt even sell it....yea, that got me...

Ric Flair has no talent to some of his past are great but anybody can do the moves he can do. He has never had any in-ring ability, all he is good for is talking on microphone. Angle would beat him in a wrestling match anyday, and ever since wrestling has modernized their has been better talent, because looking at an old championship match and a new one the old one sucks. Flair just doesnt match up to some of todays wrestlers.

Anybody who thinks Flair is a great in-ring performer, who can do amazing moves or whatever, is looking at him through rose-colored glasses, I agree with you. However, he's done a lot for the entertainment aspect of the business by being a great heel (outside of the moves themselves) and for his relationships with other wrestlers, even if some of those relationships were simply some kids looking up to him and deciding that they should follow in his footsteps and become wrestlers. Flair's best matches can't hold a candle to a "decent" Michaels match, no, but even while someone like Carlito has more in-ring talent than Flair, he can't match up to his level on the other aspects. Same goes for Hogan. The guy's absolutely horrid in the ring but you can't argue that he's a very influential member of wrestling history.

Christ people, there's more to being a great wrestler than just being able to do moves, some people just need to learn how to pull there heads out their asses

What is wrong with you? And why do I get a feeling Cena is your favourite wrestler?

Flair was a true legend. Watch a match from 15 years ago. You tell me that's not great wrestling then there really is something wrong with the way you see wrestling. Seriously? I don't think anyone would ever be able to say that about Flair, because at the end of the day, he was one of the greatest, and always will be. He also inspired so many of the 'modern' wrestlers. So to say he has no talent is possibly the most ignorant thing I've learnt.

I didnt cry but I was on the verge of acknoledging the fact that crying was a possibility

both at mania and last night

How many ignorant people are there in the world? Last two posts prove it.

If these posts are in reference to me, I suggest you read my post again. I flat out said that there's more to wrestling than the moves and that Flair is a prime example of that. The rose-colored glasses comment is just stating a fact. You can't possibly tell me that Flair in the past year has put on "match of the year" quality skills. He was ok back in his prime, but he hasn't been in his prime in years, so unless nobody knows that the term "rose-colored glasses" means, I don't see how there can be an argument.

You call Ric Flair a not good wrestler that means that you are ignorant.

So because I disagree with you, I'm suddenly devoid of thought? What made your opinions fact? Disagree with me all you want, we're all entitled to our opinions, but don't call me ignorant pal, that's just being rude.

I bet you haven't even seen some of Ric Flair's older stuff? Im meaning 70's and early 80s stuff.

on a side note I agree Mid Atlantic Flair was pure beast, his work there was some of the best wrestling youll ever see. I always try to bring that up when Brian tries to say Flair sucks because of how he was in his later WCW days but apparently it gets overlooked

I'll gladly admit that I haven't seen much of Flair's 70s and 80s work, because I wasn't alive then. You've got me on that hands down. However, one's career is full-spanning, and I'm not saying that he has been horrible in every single match he's ever had - partially because I haven't seen every single match he's had so I can't justify saying such an extreme - but he's been far past his prime for years. That's where the rose-colored glasses come in. There are people that, no matter what, will always think "the book was better than the movie" just because they read the book first, or "the original was better than the remake" because they enjoyed the experience of the original first. Its called rose-colored glasses....looking back on something in the past and possibly falling victim to the test of time, where you think something was better than it was because it isn't fresh in your memory. Just because Flair used to have better stuff in the 70s and 80s doesn't give him credibility to be considered the best of all time if he's spent the last 20 years not on the same level. There are people that would immediately love a Harley Race match and say it was "magnificent, amazing, best I've seen in my life" even though he can barely walk now, but just because they're remembering how good he used to be. It happens to every medium and it happens to just about everyone in their life with at least something, whether it be a previous family vacation, your high school years being "the best years of your life" but while you're living them, they're "the worst thing ever", etc. When people say "of all time", its all encompassing, not just the 70s and 80s. He may very well be "the best wrestler of the 70s and 80s", I don't know, and to some people they really do enjoy his matches enough that they'd classify him as the best ever, but for me, I haven't seen a good Flair match outside of this Sunday's WrestleMania in years, so he isn't "the greatest ever" to me.

Ok guys, this isnt a forum to debate if Flair was good or not (though he was the best, and we all know it)

Yes, I squirted a tear... or 20.

Wow, I just watched those two videos above with Vince and Taker coming out, and I'm not crying, but I am very choked up. I was never a huge Ric Flair fan, but give credit where it's due, we just lost one of the greatest ever.
