Where in the world is...Scott Steiner?

Suprised at most of the reactions here so far. I actually enjoyed Steiner's work in the last little while. He was entertaining on the mic and could still have a decent match. Much better than most of the other older guys like the Nasty Boys.

Man, I'm about to get slammed but oh well. I think the lack of respect for Scott Steiner is pitiful. I think it speaks for how much the business means to this guy that he's stuck around so long. And he actually is one of the few veterans with real name value that put over alot of the younger guys. He may have really lost a step, but his matches weren't that bad compared to some of the other stuff that is put on TV. Anyone who can supposedly barely walk, but comes to the ring and throws a Frankensteiner!!!????? And he gets bashed for trying to entertain us. I personally think that he wouldn't really fit in in TNA right now, and being released probably is good for both parties. But lets give credit where credit is due. Steiner deserves to be recognized as a hall of famer just on his tag team resume alone. Give Scotty a break guys.

Hey man, I'm with you on this one. It's pretty sad that you potentially have to get slammed for respecting or saying a good word about a legend like Scott Steiner. I wasn't too keen on him either when he had his WWE run back in '03 but I thought he at least looked better in present day TNA than he did 6 years prior, isn't that saying something? Did he or did he not put on a great performance in his last match, at his company's biggest event of the year? Yes he did. And despite what anyone will tell you, his promos are gold and he is fantastic on the mic :worship: anyway, he's much better than both Nasty Boys, no? :lmao: And good god, I'll never forget a couple years ago when Impact went off the air with the announcement that Scotty would be wrestling Joe for the first time ever. They were showing the crowd going INSANE and Don West was going absolutely ballistic, I thought he was going to have a heart attack as he shouted on and on "Oh My God!!! YES!!!!! YES!!!!!" like it was Hogan-Rock WM 18 or something. LOL!! I don't know why, that's just one of those things that sticks out to me from the past, if anyone can find that clip on YouTube it is just hilarious.

And on a side note, why does everyone want to hate Booker T as well? He's only been gone a few months and I already miss him like hell. He is one of the most marketable entertainers in the history of wrestling, really. Maybe a step slower than before but a great, great athlete and entertainer, who truly loves to perform in front of the fans. And some people just want to sit on the internet and rip the guy? I love Bookah!!!

The last time Scott Steiner was actually good was as a part of the Steiner Brothers, after that he bulked up too fast and too much, got a horrible piss poor attitude and was injuring himself every other week. He was useless over a decade ago, and is still useless. His promos are not gold, they are shit, he rambles on about things that happened ten years ago, he forgets names, stumbles over his own words, he is just shit.

As for his matches, they are only decent because most of the guys in TNA are really good workers and can carry him, if you could book Scott vs. Scott you would see the most absolute horrible match. He can hardly move, barely lift his arms, is always in too much pain to be effective anymore. He's just in terrible physical condition.

So it comes as no surprise to me that he has been released. It was a long time coming, especially when I was blown away to see that TNA even signed him in the first place. He should have been retired at least ten years ago.

Good. He hasn't been on TV in forever, he's not any good in the ring (the Frankensteiner means nothing anymore. He falls backwards while the other guy flips forward. It means nothing.), his promos are nowhere near what they're built up to be, and he's holding a paycheck that the company now gets to save.

GOod move.

I totally agree with Jackhammer. I think Scotty deserves alot more props here than he's receiving.

While he is known for butchering the english language, he knew how to throw down a damn good promo. Good promos... something just about all of the so called TNA originals need an education in.

Persona? Charisma? The BBBD NEVER lacked in that area as well. He knew where his current weaknesses were and he made up fr it by turning up the heat in other areas.

IMHO, Scotty deserves so much more because, as Jackhammer said, he put over alot of young guys... alot of whom did not deserve it. It seems too many Scotty was used to put over this new guy or this so called "young" TNA Original.

I might be in the minority here but I really liked Steiner's run in TNA and I'll miss him. He was great to listen to, his promos were always hillarious and I even thought he could still put on a decent match. He hasn't been great in the ring since The Steiner Brothers days so if his in-ring work wasn't an issue for me in WCW ten years ago then it definitely isn't now.

I for one will miss Big Poppa Pump. He's one of the all-time greats IMO, and while TNA did need to move beyond him, the MEM and the aging veterans to give way to the new blood, Steiner always did a phenomenal job of pushing young talent. I'd be very happy to see him return at some point in a moderate role, but otherwise no one should be overly concerned with having lost him in the locker room –*he ran his course.

Exactly. These guys in here are crazy. Steiner worked hard as fuck. He coulda retired after he almost DIED in PR, but he came back and worked a match. He busted his ass in the ring and out of it.

He and Sting and Angle are the only ones to add to their legacy in TNA.

How could you hate the guy?

I will miss Scott. The marks here on wrestlezone have no respect. Here is a guy like Steiner who has continued to wrestle and has wrestled for most of his life to try and entertain the fans at home and you marks sit here saying, "Good, I'm glad he's gone". Whatever! For every mark on the net that doesn't like Scotty, I'm sure there are 500 casual fans at home who love to see him. Steiner at one point was involved in segments for the highest ratings on Impact, so people do like his presence on the show. I enjoyed his mic work, I appreciate his dedication to the business, I appreciate him working harder than ever over the past few months, and everything. Hopefully, he'll be back within this year.

In all seriousness, I respect Scott Steiner's contributions to the wrestling business. He is a legend in my opinion even though he had his ups and downs, but who doesn't?. But at the same time, his retirement was long overdue. He could of taken a backstage role for 5 years but I respect him for at least trying to entertain us in the ring. For that, I can definitely respect him in that regard.

We all knew it was coming, but that doesnt make it any less painfull. I'll miss his promo's, his fucking up the english language and his general hilarity. The guy wasnt all that bad in the ring either, he could put on decent matches with most opponents, well I certainly enjoyed them. Oh well :(

the funny thing is that TNA didn'T released him, he decided to quit the company and that what surprised me the most. You would have thought that with Hogan and Bischoff that Steiner was a shoe in to be involve in some kind of big storyline since he friends with Hogan and Bischoff. But the fact of the matter is that he quit and while he wasn'T the most entertaining guy as far as wrestling is concern, lately, i did enjoy watching him wrestle and for a guy that banged-up as much has Steiner is, he was still able to pull of some good moves. He was one of the most entertaining guy out of the gang of old timers TNA got right now and i hate that the fact that he's not going to be on TV every week. I really hope he comes back in TNA someday because while he wasn't what he was 10 years ago, at less he wass still able to be entertaining and i will miss that.

I'm kind of glad Steiner's gone. His promos were always a good mix of cool and funny.... but his matches in recent years have been terrible and I could barely watch some of them. With Steiner gone, it will free up another spot in the upper parts of the card for someone else to step up and get a decent push. Other than his promos, I won't miss Steiner at all because now there's one less guy who's getting pushes that others deserve more.

I want everyone who is happy that he's gone, to go back and watch the Full Metal Mayhem match at Bound For Glory, and tell me that he can't still go when he wants.

He dominated that match, and stole the damn show. He's epic on the mic, and givent eh right time, can work a decent feud. I'm not surprised he's gone, but I wish he could have had another run in TNA.

If you don't think he's entertaining, do me a favor, and slap yourself.
