SHALL WE BEGIN?
When its all said and done, who will have the most impact on the buisness out of the Rhodes family? Now of course, the initial knee jerk response would be poppa Dusty Rhodes, as the man is a bonafide legend. Think to yourself though. Blazed trails all over, and set the groundwork for what we see today.

His son Dustin, has what was in reality a watershed character, a limit pushing era ushering character he played. Before Golddust, we had NEVER seen something done to this degree. His character, and the lengths it went on WWE television, were in my opinion, the forerunner of the attitude era, one of many of course. This, after all, was a man painted in gold running around kissing men and having highly homo erotic promos, in 199 fucking 6. its 12 years later, and that sort of thing is STILL seen as taboo, especially to a damn PRO WRESTLING audience. Truly revolutionary, and one of the first envelope pushing things the WWE did.

Also take into account the looks, natural charisma, and early push of Cody Rhodes. How much potential does this kid REALLY have??? How much can he do in the buisness??? How far will he rise?? could he be even bigger than poppa and big brother??

Personally, ill go with Golddust. I dont think how ridiculous and well done that character was can be measured. To me, its akin to someone playing a black heel in the south during the civil rights movement. I also think it was part of WWE testing the waters as to how much the envelope could be pushed, which was a pre cursor to the attitude era, and the WWE's ginormous popularity during that time.

Who do you guys got??

As much as I like Dusty Rhodes. I have to agree and say that Goldust is the better of the two. He took a character that nobody should be able to pull off, and not only did he pull it off, he is still recognized and doing that gimmick today. Dustin is also the only guy who can take the weirdest fucking gimmicks in the world i.e. Black Reign and actually make them worth watching. So all said and done. Dusty is recognized more for his accomplishments in my view. But Dustin should be the one that had the better career persay simply based on how he pulled of every character he was given.

Goldust/Dustin aswell.

Whenever Dusty Rhodes popped up on TV, I didn't really care that much, I was just like, oh look, it's Dusty Rhodes. But when Goldust shows up, I love it because his character is one that shouldn't have worked so well but actually has because of Dustins ability and skill to make the character of Goldust work. His character is so weird, yet so loveable.

I can't really say much for Cody Rhodes other than he has potential because he's only been around for a bit over a year, but Dusty Rhodes just doesn't do much for me. Dustin is the better Rhodes, to me atleast.

I'd have to say Dustin/Goldust.
To me Dusty will be remembered for how well he performed on the mic. Goldust on the other hand gets my vote cuz he took a character that seemed impossible to work & made it into gold & the thing is the Goldust character is still recognized today. Now Cody on the other hand even tho it's real early in his career nobody knows how far he will rise & how much he can do for the business.

Well now this is tough to me, but I think i'm going to have to agree and say Goldust. When i read this, the first thing to come to my mind was that neither of his kids would mean anything without their father. The thing is, that's only true for Cody. Dustin Rhodes may have gotten into WCW on his father's name, but he had made a legacy all his own. Goldust is the most messed up character I have ever seen, and I guarantee that if your first show had him on it, that's the main thing that would make you want to watch again. The father and son couldn't be more opposite. As Dustin Rhodes, he's nothing more than a tall guy that can wrestle a decent match. There's dozens of those. As Goldust, there is no one even close to him. Cody, well to be frank, he's just bland. Aside from rocking the Triforce, there's nothing that special about him yet, with the emphasis on the last word. Now onto the Partiarch. Dusty was overrated. Period. He was good on the mic, but I defy you to find me a classic match of his. He had good ones, yes, but never any classics, not that I've seen or that he wasn't carried to by Flair or someone else.

So in the end, we have someone who so far is living off his Father's name, a fat guy that might have put on 5 good matches in his life, and a.........whatever he is. Who has the biggest impact? Goldust. I mean Dustin. That is his name right?

Ahhh, the Rhodes family, one of the most highly respected families in professional wrestling and I'm going to throw it in there and say why?

Cody in the ring and in the back exudes greenness that even kryptonite would struggle to match. He's coasting along on the fact that his name is Cody Rhodes and he was the one who helped Daddy waddle his way into the WWE HOF. Yes, he could be talented, but he's the blandest out of DiBiase and even Manu and is, to be honest, in a feud where the stable is secondary to Randy Orton.

Dustin I have more respect for. He has the ability to take ridiculous gimmicks and go so overboard that the gimmick is scarily good... ONCE! Come on, Goldust is the best Rhodes? Sure he had one good gimmick, but Dustin Rhodes in WCW still played second fiddle to daddy, and Black Reign was so good that everyone associated with it was kept off TNA to make the other talent look bearable. [/sarcasm]. Black Reign was a poor Goldust knockoff that tanked royally! Goldust got through because of the Attitude Era making a PVC wearing, sexually ambiguous character whose most famous moves were breathing in, and a knee to the nuts in the corner.

Dusty's not the greatest legend to ever lace up the boots in my opinion. He was overweight, barely did anything in the ring. His WWF common man gimmick was horrible and only memorable because of the outfit and the debut of Dustin. However, it's his NWA dominance and his booking ability which sets him apart for me. He was 'Old School' in the most rigid sense of the word. He never really adapted to the flashing lights and explosions of WCW and WWE in my view, but the NWA was his and his booking style is still evident today in the big companies.

In my opinion... The Rhodes Family is over-rated. But honestly, without Dusty, none of the other two would have made it

Cody Rhodes

I think that Cody has a great future in this buisness. I think he'll eventualy be a WWE champion and will be remembered as one of the greatest wrestlers of his time. He has all of the ability to become a world champion. He has the charisma , the athleticsism , the look and now he's getting good on the mic. When it's all said and done i predict Cody will be a multiple time world champion , and a multiple time intercontinental champion. If he gets the right push he'll be remembered as one of the all time greats. He defninantly has the skills.

I think there's no real answer here.

Without Dusty, the boys wouldn't have been able to get as much of a shot as they did. They inherited the skills Dusty had and were able to work on his faults and improve them. If you look at it, it seems like Dustin was better than Dusty, and Cody is surpassing Dustin, so they've learned from the mistakes of their forefather.

Goldust deserves a lot of credit for being SUCH a freaking weird character that allowed the fans to open up more to the wacky personas such as Mankind, Gangrel, etc. He pushed some barriers.

Cody, though....I think this guy is going to be a huge star in the next few years. He's been in the company for what...a little over a year or so? The guy's already one of the best midcarders they have and he's been able to hold his own against main event level talent that have been working on their craft for many more years. If he continues to improve as much as he has so far, he'll be a great, great asset even by this time next year.

When push comes to shove, I don't think you could pick between them, since they've been influential in some different areas.

I was actually thinking about how great the Goldust character is while watching his return last night on RAW. I was excited to see him back and he delivered a solid match, not to mention, his comedy spots with Santino and Beth were funny as shit. I agree with all that has been said about the Goldust character. It was absolutely revolutionary. It did cross boundaries and test the waters in a world where male homosexuality is basically frowned upon.

However, Goldust was never a world champion and did not ever carry a company. Dusty did. Dusty Rhodes, as fat and out of shape as he was, was a great wrestler. He helped to build the NWA/WCW. Hell, he helped to make Ric Flair. I firmly believe that Flair would not have been as meaningful if he had not had those fueds with Dusty to establish him. And lets not forget that Dusty Rhodes is the man that made the promo important. He was one of the first wrestlers that was a really great talker. His charisma on mic was second to none.

I'd say Cody Rhodes will have the biggest impact or be the best of the family after he finishes up with WWE, he's a good wrestler and looks like he can hold a belt he also he looks comfortable with the belt and does'nt look out of place.

Those promos with Goldust were hilarious, its Pro Wrestling for god sakes not reality! I laughed my head off everytime Goldust made guys look stupid and embarrased. I think this was a major part of the attitude Era, it was something abnormal and unseen before.

Cody Rhodes looks certain to have a bright future in WWE, he looks like he can hold is own and hold title belts without looking uncomfortable with them. He has great charisma and has impressed me alot, the way he stands upto the likes of Batista and Orton also portrys him as a strong man whilst in chracter mode. I can see Rhodes doing alot in the WWE providing he isn't just pushed into the mid card area for a long time. Rhodes has alot of potential, infact i'd say more then Randy Orton. I think Rhodes will achieve a hell of a lot in the WWE and possibly throughout wrestling. His father was a legend and Goldust is also touted as one so i see no stopping Cody in becoming one too. I think he will do alot in the wrestling business, i think he will win a few World titles and possibly a mixture of IC belts providing what brand he is on. I also see him being one of the best in the WWE by time he reaches his prime. I think he can be bigger then his father and Brother, if we're to be honest i see Cody as the better wrestler out the three, i see him having a much better career then both his family members.
