Sting and TNA have agreed on new terms and he will in fact be staying with the company through 2008. He will be working a lighter schedule and won't be on TV every week.

So, after all the speculation, Sting has re-signed with TNA, saying he'll be staying with the company through 2008 and will be working a lighter schedule.

Considering this, my question is: what's next for Sting in TNA?

My personal opinion is this: He'll be a tool to be put the younger guys over, and maybe if guys need to come back on a high after time out. I think he'll be feuding with the high midcard talent really, liek Robert Roode or Kaz, maybe even Booker T if he's lucky. I also see a program with Samoa Joe before he finally waves goodbye, supposedly at the end of next year.

From my point of view, there's no way they'll be putting the strap on him. Even before he signed for a lighter schedule, which takes him out of the running pretty much completely, I didn't see it happening. Particularly if TNA don't trust him enough to front the company for more than three weeks.

I can see him been used to put over Kaz or Robert roode or maybe have him be joes first feud when he gets the title (2008 has to be his year).

I see his last match in TNA been his last match ever. And i can see it been against someone like Booker.

It should be good to still have sting around and with his shedule been lighter then TNA wont feel pressured to write him into storylines he doesnt need to be in.

Now I could be in the minority on this one, but I really see no purpose left for him in TNA, especially with a lighter schedule, I think he should have just retired, cause really the only thing i can see him ding now is putting over young talent, which is good don't get me wrong, but they could do that with just about any other main-eventer on their roster, I mean they are so over staurerated with big name talent as it is, with Angle, Christian, Nash, Booker, Joe, Steiner, & AJ, they could use just about any of those guys and do the same thing, I would like to see Sting feud with AJ, Daniels, & Joe, I hope they keep Sting away from Abyss, and Angle, I'm sick of the whole Abyss/Sting saga, and feel it went on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long, and Angle doesn't need Stings help to get over, he never did, I really hope this is Stings last run, cause he's really starting to bore me

I'm in agreement with putting people over. He'll become the Undertaker of TNA, in the sense that he puts over people, has a little feud, then puts them down, but escalates the guy he feuded with. Robert Roode would be a nice start, because something really has got to be done with the guy.

He's now the younger guy's salvation. I was hoping he'd return to WWE for a match with a few people like Ric Flair, but it doesn't matter. I'm glad he's somewhere I can at least see him before he leaves for good.

see the problem is, IMO christian isnt that big to be putting ppl over to main event level.. he can put ppl over in main event level for TNAs main event cuz hes been the champ there, but if some1 beats sting, hes actually considered a main eventer anywhere (or at least should be) since sting is a freakin legend and one of the best legends dare i say in all of wrestling

and christian is still in his prime, hes still got years to go, why should he be putting talent over? same goes with angle, he doesnt need to be putting talent over cuz he can still go 110% IMO and hes a great wrestler...

onto nash and scott, nash is way too old to put anybody over...the guy cant even run without feeling pain, in other words how can some1 who cant wrestle put some1 over? scott still can go a little.. he could put some ppl over, but it doesnt have the same impact as sting putting the guys over

and yes i realize sting is old and past his prime, but he doesnt look that washed up and he can still put on some good matches... and hes the biggest name TNA has hands down.. why not use him to put the younger guys over?

as for my opinion on this, i guess its pretty obvious i think its great, not only cuz he will be putting the young guys over (though i hope he only puts over only the young guys with actual talent or potential over and not just every1) but also because sting is one of my all time favs, hes awsome and i will enjoy watching his last run... TNA fans, rather u want to see the x divison or not, u should just appreciate stings last year, hes a great legend.. sit back and relax and be glad that we will still be able to see him for 1 more year =D

PS: man sting is really good, hes probably the highest paid wrestler there and he barley has to show up... wow O.o lol

I really like Sting and will greatly miss him when he goes, but i do believe that 2008 all Sting will be doing is just somone who has a decent name and will just job to younger guys to put them over, i think evens thats something he wants to do! so yeah should be good to see who gets put over by Sting in 2008.

I dont think TNA deserves Sting. He is by far the best wrestler they have and all they make him do is job to everybody they think is bigger in the company. They are making Sting look really bad considering how good he was in WCW.

I disagree. Although TNA may have been nicer to Sting, writing better storylines for him, letting him win a few more matches and letting him hold the strap for longer, I think they've used fairly decently to fill his capacity.

What's his role in the company from now on? Well, it's hard to tell seeing as he hasn't reappeared again to my knowledge (I missed the previous iMPACT! and was only able to catch the highlights), but I'd say he'll be used similarly to how he's always been used, but more as a tool to put people over. Guys like Storm, Roode, maybe even Young, will look to him for salvation, to be raised a level. And I'll be amazed if he doesn't supply. The dream situation for me would be a Styles/Sting feud. I don't see it happening, but a man can dream.

I'm not sure sting is ever truly going to retire. I see him now in the role of the Undertaker. He's a special attraction guy. Granted the last year or so the Deadman has taken on a bigger role due to the low ratings of the WWE, but 2004-2005 it was rare appearances for big matches.

I think this is the direction to go in with Sting. I wouldn't job Sting out by any means. I keep his credibility intact. But I think that in the long run and a good young feud, the young gun, whoever it is, should take Sting down. Sting is very capable of MOTN's still, so his future should be whatever he wants really.

well i think tna made a bad choice doing this. dont get me wrong i love sting but he is to old. he was the biggest name in 2005 and only held the title for like one month. tna just use him to get ratings.

personally i hope in his last match he wins the x diverson title form scott steiner. because the steiners and sting had a great feud in wcw and i would love to see another great match

Sting could very much be used to put younger guys like Robert Roode, Tomko or even Matt Morgan when he makes his in-ring debut. But he could also be used to sell tickets for the PPVs as a mystery partner or something like that. I can easily see him make a kinda one match return at Bound for Glory against the world champ but of course lose the match.

i dont really care what he does............sting is in tna for the right reasons, to help put the younger guys over, and give them a little rub of the star quality.........as such, he doesnt need to feud with angle, or cage, probably not even joe.........would have prefered his feud with daniels to go on a bit longer, but who evers next will benefit from it.
