What Next For Captain Charisma?

David French changed my life
Following his cage match defeat on Super Smackdown, it seems that the brilliant Orton/Christian feud has come to an end. So whats next for Christian? I personally love the his crybaby weak heel persona and felt that he came out of matches looking strong even though he put Super Orton over 90% of the time.

However I feel that his current character works best when he is pursuing or is in possession of the title complaining he is getting screwed and stooping to new depths in order to get his hands on the title or at least a shot at it!

So what does everyone think, were does Captain Charisma go from here? What is the next potential feud? Will Christian remain as a heel? Will he get back in the title picture? Or is it mid card obscurity?

This is coming from a Christian fan from way back, but I hope they have some good things in store for Captain Charisma. Actually , I wouldn't mind him getting back into the tag-team scene for a little while to help give the division a little credibility (assuming that they really are going to move forward with a rebuild). Maybe pair him up with an underutilized heel (like McIntyre,or a Mason Ryan for a "problem solver" effect) and hold the belts for awhile. I also wouldn't mind some singles programs with Sheamus, Punk, Cena, or maybe even Daniel Bryan (if they'd ever allow a little of Bryan's ROH personality to shine through). All in all, I hope that the amazing Orton feud will mean great things for Christian.

I wouldn't mind if Christian increases his Intercontinental Championship reigns by a couple. Maybe put over some mid carders by getting into some feuds over it and maybe bring some prestige back to the belt.

It's hard to tell at the moment. They could throw him into a feud with Sheamus which wouldn't be a bad idea. That's the only realistic way of keeping him in the main event picture - that's unless they are continuing with this strange Super brand concept. (why not just merge the brands??)

He could massively enhance the midcard as well. If they make him look strong for a few weeks, winning clean, and then have someone like Riley beat him in a hard fought match - I can't think of a much better way to elevate young talent.

That's the role I think he should be in now, elevating talent. But kept relevant, and booked strongly in between. It's Christian for God's sake, nothing is gonna make him look bad but he is sure as hell gonna make other people look good when he loses.

Anything to keep him relevant. Christian has just came off of one of the best feuds in recent memory with Randy Orton, it would be a horrible move if Christian fades into obscurity. Christian is built as a heel, he's over and has good enough credibility to enhance some young and upcoming talent. For example, the WWE seems to want to push Justin Gabriel and/or Daniel Bryan to the next level; feed them to Christian and make them look good in a couple if matches. There are many ways to keep Christian relevant on Smackdown. There is a good amount of Superstars on the roster who would love for someone as talented as Christian to get a bit of a rub from. Use him while his credibility is still hot.

The most logical step is for him to feud with a fresh baby face Sheamus, or a soon to be baby face Ted DiBiase Jr. Christian needs to stay as close to the top of the card on Smackdown as possible, due to his work with Orton over the past few months being solid gold.

I'd like to see him try to go after the WWE title if they really are going to end the brand extension. I mean(assuming Cena wins), I'd actually like to see a Cena vs. Christian feud for a bit. But that's just me.

I think the next logical move is a feud with Sheamus, but after that I think he'll go after the IC Title whenever a face beats Rhodes for it. I really think Rhodes is moving on to main event status against Orton for the WHC after he drops the IC Title, so that leaves the door openf or Christian there. I thought a feud against Sin Cara for that belt would make sense, but they're either turning him heel or they're going to have the 2 guys who have played Sin Cara duel it out. I agree too about Gabriel. I think he and Christian could put on some very entertaining matches.

I wouldn't mind if Christian increases his Intercontinental Championship reigns by a couple. Maybe put over some mid carders by getting into some feuds over it and maybe bring some prestige back to the belt.

I think that this would be a great idea as it would let Cody move on to the main event scene. It would also bring back some prestige to the IC title like when Jericho held it.

If not this, I would love to see a feud between Christian and Miz. These two could have great promos and matches and would help to elevate Miz since he seems to have lost steam following his loss to A-Ry.

Hamler's put it perfectly. Anything to keep him relevant would do. The feud with Orton has really elevated him as a performer and there is no reason why he shouldn't just stay there.

The thing I notice however, is the fact that Smackdown has more heels than babyfaces. Right now, I would not be too averse to Christian turning face either. He can always turn heel when he wants to but going babyface would allow him to feud with the likes of Cody and Barrett and elevate them in the process.

As a heel his options are Sheamus, who needs to settle a score with Henry before moving forward, Daniel Bryan, Ezekiel Jackson or Justin Gabriel. I just feel that guys like Bryan, Zeke and Gabriel are a bit too low for Christian to feud with at the moment though I guess he could be used to build up Bryan.

I think that a feud with Bryan is what will eventually happen but I would rather see him with Rhodes or Barrett.

Well now that he has had half a dozen title matches with Orton.... It is definitely time for Christian to temporarily step out of the title picture. Henry is next in line, so the logical choice would be for Orton and Sheamus to swap feuds because now Sheamus needs something to do, as does Christian. Sheamus and Christian could put on great matches and even greater promos if they worked together. I also like Hamler's idea of having Bryan or Gabriel work with Christian some in a feud or two. Christian would make them look like gold in the ring and help them get over more. Barrett could be a feud to look at too.

I'd really like to see Christian in a feud with Daniel Bryan. They had a great match on Smackdown last week when they were given time and i'd like to see them build on it. The two of them working together could help ease Bryan into the main event and also keep Christian in the main event. I'd like to see them work Christians current character into the feud by having triple H tell Christian he wont be getting another title shot. So he decides his only chance of getting the title back is to get the money in the bank briefcase.

In all honesty any feud Christian is in is one i will watch as if he's given some time on the mic and in the ring he can make an entertaining feud with anyone.

I've read the posts and I agree with most of what was said. So instead of suggesting who he should feud with(The previous posters already did, and I share the exact sentiments with those who said a feud w/ Sheamus or any other face to elevate them), I'll try to see where his character goes moving forward:

He should remain heel simply because to get his heel persona more over. We haven't seen this version of heel Christian work a lengthy feud with anyone other than Orton, by working with the other faces his heel persona gets more exposure overall and he elevates the faces as well. He doesn't necessarily have to be involved with the title picture for maximum efficiency of his current character because being a whiny heel is enough for the crowd to boo you and plus the fact that he's excellent on the mic makes cutting heel promos that much easier and arouse the audience's interest with him as a heel.

christian complains a lot now so i think it would have to be zeke or sheamus. they are big guys who christian can complain about facing.

i wouldnt mind him getting in the middle of the sin cara fued. christian is better on the mic then d bryan and could make it more than just a series of matches.

I would love to see a Christian v Daniel Bryan feud and it's not hard to set up with Daniel Bryan having something that Christian - and anyone else - would want.
Christian wants the MITB briefcase and basically goads him into a match with the briefcase on the line. In a very heelish manor obviously. Does he win the briefcase? Not sure to be honest.
This is a small step back from the title picture but it shows him as still chasing the top prize, rather than taking a step backwards to the IC title or Tag titles. Plus the matches involved in the feud would no doubt be amazing.

Definitely Daniel Bryan, though I don't get why so many people want him to gamble the briefcase. The feud is there without it being up for grabs. Christian comes out and does a promo with Bryan about how it took him years of hard work and sweat to get his title shot and Bryan didn't do nearly enough to earn his opportunity at the belt. Bryan talks MitB match how grueling it is, blah blah blah and they hate eachother and beat the crap outta eachother. Bryan needs a big feud to make him a believable champion, and 2-3 months up against the former champ would be a great start.

A feud with Sheamus seems like the next logical step for both of them, but what I'd really like to see is Christian vs. Bryan. This could be the way to test out Bryan in the main event. Christian will carry most of the mic work, as heels typically do, and both guys are fantastic in the ring. They can use the feud to gauge how the crowd reacts to Bryan in such a big spot and to see if he can hold his own in a feud with a legitimate main eventer. As someone else mentioned, a feud over the briefcase should be interesting, especially if it's Christian's only chance at another title shot. I hope this is what we see soon, as the feud could continue Christian's momentum and build Bryan to greatness.

No way of knowing for sure right now but I expect he will either start a feud with another face on Smackdown like Sheamus is likely or possibly go for the Intercontinental title.

I agree with what alot of people have said already in that there are two ways that Christian can go and still be relevant as a top heel on the show.

1. He could go up against Sheamus who is the #2 face on the show. I haven't come up with a scenario just yet, but more to follow on that one.

2. Daniel Bryan - This could be awesome if they do it right. Christian being the veteran should try and elevate Bryan to see if he can be a ME Superstar. Both of them are great in the ring and their match together was pretty good in itself. That MITB briefcase could be a great catalyst since Bryan isn't cashing in until WM28. Christian could try and pull what Edge did on Mr. Kennedy back in the day, although we know that Kennedy got an injury. Anyway, it could be work.

My assessment from long before Christian lost the WHC title back to Orton was that once his feud with Orton is finally over, he will feud with Sheamus for a couple of months, eventually ending up putting him over, while in the meantime Henry and Orton will battle it out, ending somehow with Henry as the champion.
This will lead to a feud between Sheamus and champion Mark Henry before the year is over. As it is I still stand by this assessment. I called it. ;)
