What Becomes of the Nexus?

As we all know by now, July 17, Money in the Bank will be CM Punk's last WWE appearance for the time being. It's unknown if he'll stay with them at this point(I'm praying Punk stays, and I never pray). My question is, what will happen to the Nexus? I actually thought that they would give some credibility back to them and have them hold all of the titles and dominate RAW. However, this puts things at a questionable state. With Punk at best, taking time off, what will happen to Nexus?

Do you think they will remain one or disband? Why & why not?

If they disband, who do you see remaining relevant after Punk leaves, if any of them?

I can honestly see them disbanding. They all are talented superstars. I say Otunga becomes mid-card. Mason Ryan- Give him a good manager, I could eventually see him on the ME scene. Mcgillicutty- Send him back to FCW repackage him, give him a decent gimmick, maybe a lower mid-card, no further than that. The nexus thing is played out. The tag team has nothing in common anymore, it started out as rookies making an impact, now only one of the original 7 is still in the nexus. Its pointless. Scrap the whole damn thing.

As for remaining relevant id have to say Mason Ryan will, and maybe otunga, for the simple fact he has mainstream popularity, you can give him the A-list gimmick back, hell include his wife in a storyline, the media will eat that shit up. It could maybe even boost ratings for the urban demographics. There is a lot of potential in Otunga. I'm not anti-Mcgillicutty by any means, id just wanna see Joe Henning, don't give him his dads gimmick, give him something new and fresh. He has alot of potential given the correct gimmicks and fueds.

Neither Otunga or McGillicuty are worth a damn. This is the sad, sad truth. They are both Superstars material, and I expect them to be sent there to work as a tag team and as singles. Perhaps, eventually, with a new push and a change of gimmick, as well as gaining some experience and working some good matches on Superstars, one or both of them could see the light of day again on SmackDown.

Ryan, meanwhile, brings a lot to the table. He looks fantastic, wrestles with intensity, and, while green, is capable of working a match as a dominant, power oriented heel pretty well. He should remain on Raw as a midcard heel, though there's no problem with him main eventing Superstars every now and again. Keep him around as a threat, maybe make him somebody's bodyguard. In fact, he would be excellent as paired with Dolph Ziggler. I'm not sure how likely the WWE will be to go that route, but realistically, they can't resist keeping a guy like Ryan off of Raw. He'll stick around.

This is all pending CM Punk actually leaving the WWE after MITB, but that's a different discussion entirely.

Well Wade Barrett just lost his IC title and the Corre is disbanded (or at least as good as disbanded I only vaguely keep up with Smackdown since its on at such an inconvenient day/time...), Skip Sheffield to return soon.... I don't know if I'd rule out the idea of Barrett returning to the Nexus leader spot... maybe cut a promo about how he was doing better on RAW with the Nexus behind him anyway so he saw this opportunity and ceased it? I think that would be awesome

I do not think that Punk would leave on after the MITB PPV but he will take a break from wrestling eventually. In such a circumstance I think WWE will try to push Nexus as a midcard stable that is ridden with problems now that their mighty leader has deserted them. I think that we will see some sort of dissension within the ranks with Otunga trying to become the leader of Nexus and Mason Ryan also having similar ideas. Conversely you can have Otunga being the domineering leader for a while and then Ryan turning babyface by going up against him.

Either way, I feel that the Nexus will be a midcard angle once Punk goes away and it will be resolved by Royal Rumble at the latest.

1) I say they will not remain as a group. I think that group needs a leader and if Punk truly leaves then the group has no purpose. Nexus hasn't done anything of importance under the rule of Punk and I think we will be seeing them finally end. I don't see how they would continue, because they have no longer any purpose.

2) The only person who will become relevant is Mason Ryan. All the Batista chants yesterday was a guarentee that this would happen. I think he has the size the shape and the talent to become something in the future. If he can break away and become a singles star with no attachments I see him being the only one with a future.

I love the Nexus and pray they don't leave. That said they are just a shell of what they once were. Barrett taking over would be interesting. So would rolling in other heels who need a push. I think WWE needs to make up their mind pre PunkGate because they are lifeless now.

Mason Ryan may have the size and shape but he does not have the talent(yet). He still has al long way to go before I would say he's Batista caliber in the ring, but as soon as he does I can see him being Batista Jr. He also desperatly needs some help on the mic, i'd love to see him get a feud with no connection to The Nexus and see if he really is a future star.

As for The New Nexus as a whole it's very clear that as soon as Punk goes his own way they really have nothing, they have not achieved much other than being the reason why members David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty won the tag titles. I know McGillicutty is Mr. Perfect's son but I dont see much of a future for him, same goes for Otunga. If Ryan improves(which he will) I see him being a legit singles compeditor by next year, and Punk will ofcourse move on to bigger and better things that he deserves.

Well I see Mason Ryan going forward as a singles star and lets remember Batista was green as fuck but wwe still pushed him until he got the hang of it.

Basically Otunga can be the black version of the Miz lol.

I see McGillicutty disappearing for a while then going to smackdown where he can team up with Rhodes and DiBiase to form the "Fortunate Sons". Lets be honest Cody is not going to be disfigured a couple years from now because it's only but so many he can do before that gets boring. Ted DiBiase should stick around and maybe his brother Brett DiBiase gets called up to complete this stable.

Cody Rhodes could be the evil intelligent methodical leader that has the World title
Ted DiBiase could hold the IC tilte and be second in command
McGillicutty and Brett DiBiase can reunite as a tag team from FCW and hold the tag titles

Now tell me that wouldn't be a nice young group winners.

Simply put... they fold. They should have never had Punk come in and take over in the first place especially right after the straight edge society disbanded. Unfortunately, the nexus gimmick was destroyed the second John Cena was fired and showed up the next night. Now what WWE will probably try to do is have Skip Sheffield come in and run it. If they are as high on him as the internet claims, then I guess that could work for a month or two. But seeing how they have ruined wade barrett (and he was the best), I highly doubt the others will ever reach any higher than midcarder but that won't be for a long time (ex. Dibase went from wrestlemania and Elimination chamber, to Superstars to Sunday Night Heat (and there aint no sunday night heat) to cody rhodes' bag carrier). Shame really but what else can you expect from WWE?

It's time for The Nexus to end. The Nexus had a pretty good run in 2010, but Punk's Nexus has been pretty dull in 2011. The brief feud with Cena was fun to watch, and the stuff with Orton wasn't bad, but Punk's Nexus never reached that high level I expected. The initiations were brutal and hard to watch, and Punk's philosophy was very dark at first, but the New Nexus never took off. As time went on, this stable just went through the same exact motions(gang attacks, interfering in matches) as Barrett's Nexus did, and I didn't see any major changes.

Punk will be gone for a while, so The Nexus will be without leader. There's a good chance Mason Ryan will receive a big push in the future, but I don't think he's ready to be a leader just yet. Ryan has an impressive physique, and he can show flashes of intensity, but when I look at Mason Ryan, I just see a younger Batista look-a-like. The rest of Nexus really doesn't have that one guy who can be considered leadership material, and this is another reason for this stable to disband. Of course, someone else could step up and become the leader of this stable, but I think R-Truth would be the only likely candidate. He's pretty hot as a heel right now, and he could use Nexus to make John Cena's life a living hell, but Nexus has already targeted Cena before, so could WWE go down that road again?

The glory days of The Nexus are long gone. They had a nice run, but now it's time for this stable to go away.

Yeah, WWE have this planned out all wrong.

Mason Ryan will obviously be a single's competitor, and will get pushed nicely.

Michael McGillicutty will be in the tag team division for a while, but I think it should have been with Husky Harris, not Otunga. The two have good chemistry. Otunga's boring, period. I think Otunga should re-vert to the whole A-List thing and even get Jennifer Hudson appearances..

I think that the Nexus will disband simply because this Nexus was all about brainwashing. Because this is the case, no one will be able to lead them.

I also see a great time for Mason Ryan to jump out in to the U.S Hunt. He's recieved props from Dave Batista himself and has some potential as a good powerhouse.

I don't know what WWE should do with Nexus. Should they disband? Maybe, but what do you do with the members? Otunga should go back to FCW, Mcgillicuty should have his own last name back ( he is Joe Hennig by the way), Mason Ryan is too new to be on his own right now. Another thing, its not 100% certain that Punk is leaving WWE ( maybe 95%) so its not certain that Nexus will disband.

WWE struck gold with the Nexus last year so it would be a mistake to disband them. Everything was fine until Punk took over it and they have done nothing since then. What I think should happen is that if/when Punk leaves then David Otunga takes over as the new leader and they bring Skip back into the group as well as possibly Slater or Gabriel and especially Barrett if he could. I would rather Barrett lead it again but he is likely going to get a singles push now so this is more likely. They would then begin to cause chaos on both shows again. If they can recapture the intimidation factor of the original group then they will be onto something because it was the most interesting angle in dang near a decade. If they do disband then I see each of them having decent careers. McGillicutty will do fine if he gets the right push. Otunga and Mason both desparately need to improve in the ring but will have great careers if they do and they might main event.

after punk leaves nexus should disband, no more point and i dont want wade in charge of them again so end the nexus thing completely.
of all the nexus the only guy worth watching is mason ryan, david otunga is worthless, mcguilicuty is horrible, uhh the big guy is gone. mason ryan should start wrestling the big stars to get popular, then eventually maybe even put him into the mid card titles then the world title spot i think mason could do it.
