Triangles of excellence

Schoolboy-Chris

Occasional Pre-Show
This is my first thread so apologies for any errors!

Basically I was thinking of how many groups of wrestlers you can work into trios and always be assured that they will have a good match. For example: three of my favourite matches of all time happen to be Undertaker vs. HBK in the first Hell in a Cell, Kurt Angle vs. HBK at WM 21 and Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker at No Way Out 2006. Through these examples it seems to me that whatever combination you make of these three wrestlers – Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle and the Undertaker, you are ensured a good if not great match.
It made me curious as to what other triangles of excellence could be made, featuring different wrestlers or perhaps one of those shown previously. These trios will most likely consist of veteran wrestlers who have had the chance to shine with a larger number of different opponents.

Your thoughts please.:)

Nice idea. Angle,Benoit and Jericho used to have consistnly good matches against each other at the begging part of the decade/end of last. But i couldnt pick 3 singles matches off the top of my head to be the best. It would probally involve Benoit Vs Angle Cage match from Raw and Benoit vs Jericho Ladder match at the Rumble though.

Another personal favourite trio of mine would be The Rock,Foley and HHH. Rock Vs Mankind I Quit match. Cactus Jack vs HHH Street fight at the Royal Rumble and The Rock Vs HHH Iron Man match from Judgement Day.

I just realized 3 matches from the Royal Rumble too, maybe thats why its my favourite PPV!

I'm gonna go for 3 of the best from the attitude era: Austin/Rock/Angle.

Ok, well Austin vs The Rock is quite possibly the greatest feud of all time. It 4 awesome years, from Wrestlemania 15 until their very last match at Wrestlemania 19. It gave us one of the greatest ever Mania main events at Wrestlemania 17, and it stopped the Invasion angle from being utter crap with The Rock fighting for the WWF and Austin being the leader of the Alliance.

Speaking of the Invasion, it gave Kurt Angle one of his greatest ever rivalries. While The Rock was still feuding around with Booker T, Angle was going after Austin who had just betrayed the WWF. What resulted was an incredible, personal and emotional rivalry from two of the best ever and possibly the best feud of 2001.

The Rock vs Angle, while it was never a serious feud, did have some good matches. One that instantly comes to mind is No Way Out 2001. That match is, in my opinion, and underrated classic. Angle was still flourishing as a performer and The Rock was still in his prime. They had some really good chemistry together, too. It's just a shame that these two never got to have a full-blown feud. There was always someone else involved...

This is a very interesting post, I like it.
Jericho, Benoit, Angle has already been done but I'll put a vote of confidence behind it.
A second easy choice for me would be the start of ROH's time and their run for a first champion. Danielson, Daniels and Low Ki had a great triple threat match and a great round robin style tournament. Later Daniels and Low Ki would go on to be great tag team competitors in TNA and have since had several good matches. Danielson and Low Ki have battled several times over such titles as the PWG World belt aswel as taking their matches to Japan. The creators of the ROH style have brought great matches around the world and every time any of the two lock it up we get a great match.
