TLC PPV- John Cena vs. Sheamus - Tables Match- WWE Championship

This is, without a doubt, the most intriguing match on the card.

I've gone back and forth trying to decide a winner. My brain says Cean, but my heart's been telling me Sheamus more and more. Sheamus is in a must win situation; he's gotten the Brock Lesner push and if he loses this, he loses what little credibility he has, even if he destroys Cena during the match. Sheamus NEEDS to win, if Cena loses it does nothing to him but it's everything to Sheamus.

I still can't predict a winner. The smart move would be to just give it to Sheamus, let him have a short reign, and drop it back to Cena.

Ah hell, I'm going to pick Sheamus. His chances are in the negatives, but I think we're going to be in for a shock tonight.

The build-up for this match has been very, very good. They really have me believing that a man who has done little more than beat up guys on ECW and retire Jamie Noble can become WWE Champion. On the other hand, we've seen guys challenge Cena like this many times before. I find myself not as excited about the match itself as the result and comes from it. This match will decide where Raw goes between here and WrestleMania.

Sheamus wont even last a week as champ...Super Cena will have his belt back by next monday......what's shocking is some of you wanted Cena to win tonight....why?!?!?! I thought you wanted "younger" talent to be pushed....

and now that it happens your all complaining....he did beat Cena after all...

I didn't mean to sound like I'm complaining - the push just seemed so damn fast that's all! He's been destroying Cena (a good thing) for weeks now!

It's nice to change things up a little!

I'm really enjoying Kofi Kingston's feud with Orton at the moment - his attack on Orton a few weeks back where he put him through the announcers table and posed above him was simply bad ass!

You know what separates this from all of the other "shocking" WWE Title wins (Undertaker beating Hogan, Kane beating Austin, etc.)?

The fact that this win was absolutely clean. That's never happened before, to the best of my recollection. No underdog has ever went into a World Championship Match against the man that defines his Era, and won the title cleanly. Now, this may get into a semantic's issue, what with it being a table match and all. If this were a match in which interference was involved, this would be one of the cases in which the WWE is planning to give the belt back soon to the former champion. Such was the case for Undertaker in 1991, Kane in 1998, and so forth. But the fact that this was an indisputable victory tells me that this may actually be something that may grow in the long term. Now, Sheamus may not stay with the WWE Title for too long. I don't see Vince having the cajones to put Sheamus in the main event in Wrestlemania, though I guess he did do it with Yokozuna. Still, I can't help but feel Sheamus will at least last pass the Royal Rumble with the belt. Now, I may be wrong, it's entirely possible.

As for where Cena goes... Clearly, he goes to the Studios, to film another project for the WWE. I mean, that's the only thing I can possibly think of. But for the time being, he's going to be gone from the picture. So someone must take the step to challenge Sheamus. It'll probably be Triple H, based on what happens tonight with him and Shawn. But this isn't too bad of a situation for Cena. He loses, gets a rematch, someone may cost him, he goes away, and he'll be back in time for another feud.

Eh least, that's how I see things

Just throwing it out there, but I haven't seen the finish of the match yet, but from what I read, it seems like he was just "pushed" through the table. From the way that I am reading it, it doesn't seem like the match was to end there...but I don't know yet, I can't wait to see the clip tomorrow night...

The guy has owned Cena for weeks now and the clean win is a clear sign that the youth movement is in full force. Vince, HHH and HBK have his support and it's nice to see the underdog (face or heel) go over clean. As for the finish, I need to see the footage. It sounds like a botch, but either way Sheamus is the WWE Champion. I'm looking forward to seeing how he handles the pressure.

Great result, Cena has had a pretty awful year so all WWE are doing is replacing one limited performer with another for a couple of weeks. It's not like Sheamus will last long as champion. In fact, I see him losing it tonight on Raw.

WWE might've made themselves a new star, but if they haven't, at least they tried.

I was just wondering, they built up that Cena would invoke his rematch clause at the PPV last night which he clearly did not. So my question is was anyone waiting for Cena to invoke it last night and win his title right back?

I dont know how you all feel about posting links but Im gonna put a link to my live reaction vid. Unfortunately youtube cut most of the video off. Please dont make me remove this post. For every wrestling fan there is one striking moment in history where your attention is captivated and your are shrouded in immense excitement that gives you that adrenaline rush. It was a clean finish that did two things:

1: It gave Sheamus a great heel victory without making him resort to a Carlito run-in or something similar. Yeah, it looked weak, but I feel that was the intention (though Cena does sell the "push" a little heavy). Cena could have put him easy through the table, but insisted on the superplex. Sheamus took the win at the moment it presented itself, not trying to please the crowd.

2: It kept Cena looking good, as he wasn't beaten to a pulp and powerbombed through the table; he just got caught at a vulnerable moment. Not that Cena needs help keeping the kids attention, but it's still a good way to book the title off of him.

I feel I gotta give this match a good review, based solely on the mark out factor at the end. It wasn't horrible, in fact it was a great showing from Sheamus and "vintage" John Cena.

I thought they would, especially after the commentators replayed the finish and gave their thoughts (BTW, would've thought Striker could learn to stop using lame "smart" terms and start doing a pretty good Heyman/Heenan hybrid?). I was waiting for a "Yokozuna moment", but it never came.

Well well, who would have thought, both of Trip's buddies winning titles on the same night just a few months into their debuts? In all seriousness though, Sheamus winning was a nice change.

It is refreshing to see WWE go down this route of pushing someone new (even if Sheamus is Hunter's work out friend) and last night was a tad in the unpredictable direction, which WWE needs in my opinion.

Do I like Sheamus? No, not really but at least he's something new, different and not John Cena, Randy Orton or Triple H. Although, I'm not sure how long I see this Sheamus reign last, if he turns out to be a ratings killer then surely they'll have to put the belt back on one of the accomplished stars...and who would that be? Hmmm, Randy Orton, John Cena or Triple H of course!!
