They Said "Give It A Go"

I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW
So I did and I tried my hand at making a sig, using GIMP because I'd rather see if I can develop my skills like the veterans of this board have before going out and purchasing a product I may not want. Big props to TPP for the advice in that thread of yours, thank you.

After mucking around with my first one (which failed miserably), I tried another... and this is what I came up with:

It's supposed to be a signature for my WZCW character. I only did simple text as I didn't understand how to customise it properly. The salient feature would be my character in his normal posing (as he is a doctor). I added in some other pics to fill spaces and the swirling in the background to demonstrate the mind-manipulation my character does.

Other than that, I did it to make it look cool-ish (to the best of my abilities). Any feedback on this would be appreciated as it is my first time (technically) and I'd like to get better.

Well, its very good for your first sig. The colors are pleasing, the renders are at the right opacity, and the text even fits. I like all of the sparkles that you put around the background. The only problem I have is the render in the middle. Besides being out of place, it also looks blurry, and it just doesnt fit. This would be better if that render want there. Although if you did want Angle using and Ankle Lock, PSD Dreams has a great render of him giving one to Tomko. Nonetheless, this is very good for your first sig.

Thanks Stinger. Check your rep.

However, I experimented with my old signature above and got this:

The first attempt looked too fake, so I decided to make it look as real as possible. I've re-positioned the text so it suits the signature better and made it more transparent than opaque to fit that small picture of my character with his "secretary" whilst holding previously acquired championships (which I tried to make them have a shine to them)... you don't know how hard it was to find a picture of Karen Angle with clothes staying on. I've shortened the border as well, though making it visible enough to give it that professional look. It's also 460x280 pixels. 500x300 feels to much for one person.

And no, that isn't a ladder to the left of the signature. No, stop that... it's nothing. Must be your imagination playing up. Get your eyes checked.

you know that second attempt isnt half bad. I really like what you did with the background and the sparkle effects. The render is perfect for its purposes, it almost gives me a feeling of general hospital soaps lol. very nice choice of font but i think it could have been better, check out dafonts (its also in the resource section) and pick you up some good fonts. in my opinion the only thing its lacking is some nice cloudy effects but over all good job on the sig
