The Ultimate Finale 13

Whose face was more fucked up at the end of the fight? Kingsbury.

And body punches ARE significant. Roop on the undercard won with a body punch. They cause a shit ton of damage, especially at the rate Fabio was throwing them.

Kingsbury landed some good knees, but that's it. Most of his other knees were blocked and countered. And takedowns? Every time Kingsbury got a takedown, Fabio either got a submission attempt, or swept him to get it back to the feet, which completely neglects Kingsbury's takedowns on the scorecard.

I realize WHAT you're saying, but I'm also scoring the fight from a different lens. I knew that the judges were scoring the fight for Kingsbury. I'm not debating how you COULD have seen it, I'm just saying the same things I said during the Kampmann-Sanchez fight, if that makes sense.

Understandable.

I guess it just kind of bothers me to think about the judges not counting body punches. I already know they don't count leg kicks as shown in the first Machida/Shogun fight. It's not good for the sport because then fighters become insecure about being technical, and then only just start looking for the knockout and/or takedowns. Leonard Garcia winning decisions is proof of the flawed judging criteria MMA has.

I think the problem is more the SPOTTY enforcement of criteria. Like, if you watch Forrest-Rampage, Forrest won BECAUSE of leg kicks, but then you can spot Machida-Rua 1 as evidence where someone LOST because of leg kicks.

Fuck yeah, main event time. This should be good.

Oh and JMT, I clicked on that "Boys Next Door" movie link in your sig and WHAT THE FUCK why have I never heard of this film? It sounds fucking awesome, it's directed by Penelope Spheeris, and it's written by Glen Morgan and James Wong? WTF? How have I not heard of this?

Hell yeah, man. I thought it was fucking awesome. 5/5 may be a bit of a high rating, but I really, really dug the film a lot. Great little overlooked movie from the eighties.

I don't know why people hate on Fitch so much when Guida is basically the Fitch of the Lightweight division and people love him.

Trust me, I want to dislike Guida, but he's such a nice guy that it makes it impossible not to like him to a certain extent. The lay and pray shit was pretty ridiculous tonight though, especially in rounds 2 and 3. Guida had no right calling himself the most exciting Lightweight after tonight's performance.

But yeah... Fitch's personality is just like his fighting style: Boring. And lately, he's added arrogance to that personality of his as well, which only makes him that much more unlikable.

Guida seems to have an unmatched motor, and I like that. Isn't the most flashy guy, but he got the job done, and his energy alone provides the entertainment value for me. I hope he gets a title shot in very near future. He deserves it.

Guida's the most energetic lay and pray artist in MMA, still doesn't take away from the fact he's bullshitted his way through in 2 fights now.

By "bullshitted," you mean he won? The San Antonio Spurs were considered boring in 2003, 2005, and 2007..should the NBA have disqualified them from competing? Because they didn't perform the way some wanted them to? I think not. He won, he was the better man. It's a sport, a real competition, and the guy who wins (legally), no matter how he wins, deserves what comes along with that.
