My computer froze and I had to turn it off the hard way, and now Windows doesn't boot anymore when I turn it on. I tried Startup Repair and System Restore, but it still didn't boot. It is currently attempting to repair disk errors, but I know it's going to be stuck like that all day and accomplish nothing, so I'll have to turn it off again and make things worse. At this point I take it back to the store I bought it from and have them "repair" it, which is only clearing everything off of it and have it restored back to the condition I first bought it in. Is there any way to repair it without losing all my stuff? If not, how can I avoid the middleman and "reset" it myself?
