The Sports Bar

More college football discussion. Now.

Here, I'll start. My Mountaineers need to bolt the Big East. It's a sinking ship. Kind of like the Titanic, but it was never that big.

But New England can afford that (even if it is horrible) because they have an excellent offense.
No they can't, it only takes 1 bad game by the offense to take them out. One end can only carry them so far. If they want another ring that defense needs to improve.

He might or might not, I am playing a wait and see on that. Neither of them are playing well, but the Dolphins outside of the offense are not a terrible team and Matt Moore is better than Painter, for however long he plays. Either of them could get the pick, with how Minnesota is playing maybe they could, only one way to find out. Moore isn't terrible IMO, but he may not be the starter for long if at all. The Dolphins signed Rosenfels and Garrard I think is out there so they have some options.

The Dolphins defense was supposed to be good but they have actually been pretty bad this season. Garrard also turned them down so Matt Moore is the best they have. He is better then Painter but the Colts as a team have more talent then the Dolphins.

The way I see is that Indy and Miami may draft Luck but I bet teams like Seattle and KC will draft Blackmon if he comes out.

Unless Tarvaris Jackson and Matt Cassell end up having tremendous seasons then both teams would draft Luck. If they were to draft someone else it certainly would not be a receiver in Justin Blackmon. The only team that I don't see drafting Luck if they get the number one pick is Minnesota. The Vikings need a receiver but even them I don't see drafting Blackmon number one.

Blackmon is easily the best receiver in the draft and a top 5 prospect but in the last 15 years QB, OL, and DL are the only positions to be taken number one. All of the teams at the bottom have bigger needs then the wideout position. Matt Kalil is the likely top pick if a team doesn't need a qb but I can almost guarantee that if the worst team doesn't need Luck then they will trade the top pick because there are plenty of teams who do.

St. Louis. They're 0-4, and won't pick Luck since they have Bradford already, who is making tons of money as a #1 overall QB. 2 #1 overall QBs will kill their Salary Cap. The only way they keep luck is if they fire Spagnolo (likely if they finish worst in the league) and then they somehow trade Bradford.

One other team not to sleep on in terms of trades is Cleveland. Colt McCoy is not firmly entrenched there, and he isn't all that great anyway. They also have 2 first round picks this year (Atlanta's from the Julio Jones pick trade), and will likely have a top-12 pick this year. Their 1, ATLs 1, and their 2013 1 might be enough to get up to 1.

And this year is the first year that the top picks are easier to move, thanks to the rookie wage scale. Teams won't be as hesitant to trade because of money now.

I forgot about the Rams. They obviously aren't taking a qb either and they are actually the ONLY team (of the complete shit ones) that have receiver as their biggest need. Again though they would likely trade out of the top spot to get more picks and then take Blackmon at 2 or 3.

I see whoever having the first pick drafting Luck and whoever doesn't need a QB (Stl., possibly Minny) would trade him to get a ransom of picks, like Ricky Williams and Julio Jones picks were (and possibly more since he plays the most important position on the field).

Although since it is only week 5 we're jumping to conclusions on who'll get the first pick. Teams can have strong finishes, which is what I think will happen to the Rams. After the Saints game in 3 weeks, their schedule looks very winnable with only @Pittsburgh in Week 16 looking like a game that doesn't look favorable.

However they need some type of receiver (T.O?) because averaging less then 12 points a game isn't gonna cut it, obviously. Also Steven Jackson needs to get healthy and quick so they have another dynamic.

Whats with Painter trying to look like a decent QB? Shame on him! Also good win for Oakland, nice stop at the end and it's good to see Bey shutting the haters up by playing good the past few weeks.

1) Inflated stats for an inflated ego. Self important asshole.

2) He was one to talk about how football keeps people from committing crimes.. Which was a stupid thought to begin with.

What stats are inflated? I need a good laugh.

The only crime Ray Lewis committed was not snitching on his friends. Those same friends he didn't snitch on were acquitted of the crime anyway. That situation also happened almost 12 years ago.

No doubt in my mind -- Aaron Rodgers is the best QB in the game. 396 yards, 2 TDs, a 5th straight win for his team. He's stellar.
come on now, he's no Mark San....... OK, I can't even say that. I still have tons of faith in the kid, and he's still a good QB, but he (and the whole team) is on a really cold streak now. That happens when you cut your best run blocker after the season (Damien Woody) and your Center misses 2 games, and you're letting what may be your best running back right now (Joe McKnight) only get a few snaps, and the D can't stop the run.

The Jets need to step it up. Thankfully they have Miami next Monday, who sucks ass and has a bad QB situation, sub-par running game, and 1 receiver (who will be deserted on an Island, an Island named after one Darelle Revis).

Good for the Lions. I think one of the best thing about the NFL is that if a team has sucked so hard for so long and they start to turn it around, people really root for them. :)

Also, good for Tebow. I know people have knocked his stats or something (idk) but there is much more to being a NFL player than numbers. He is a good guy that can motivate people. You can't teach or measure that.

So the Lions have been good for the first time in like 50 years and all of a sudden people are picking Calvin Johnson over Randy Moss in his prime? I don't see it so help me out guys, especially Megatron who I have a pretty good idea of his answer.

I think Johnson is more explosive, can run more routes. Performed well without a star QB. Isn't a detriment to his team. More of a team player. he performed well when he was the Lions only viable threat.
