Jets kicked the Jaguars asses, in all facets of the game. And Luke McCown vs. the Jets D was MORE then enough of a matchup to guarantee a Jets win. He was bad enough that his ass got pulled and he might be removed from his position permanently.

I would say it was more of a horrible game plan by the Jags than a lot of what the Jets did. Maurice Jones-Drew was running all over the Jets and was averaging nearly five yards a rush. So what do the Jags do? They decide to throw the ball with Luke McCown. I was getting so mad I was screaming at the TV because of the stupidity of the play calling. They should have kept running the ball with Mojo until the Jets proved they could stop it, which they never did. Just another example of the incompetence of Jack Del Rio.

But I really do wonder how much things would be different if Marcedes Lewis played. We may have actually scored a touchdown.

Oh, and please start Gabbert. I've been saying to start him since he was drafted. There is literally no reason not to.

It would have been slightly different, yes (the Jets are not incredibly strong defending against elite receiving TEs, and Lewis is an excellent one). I doubt it would have made a big difference, as at the end of the day McCown was pwned by an elite D, and the Jets O got the job done.

I understand not starting rookies right away, when you have a better option. The Jags do not have a better option (at least not after cutting Garrard). They need to go with Gabbert now.

The Jags could have had so many coaches that have turned out to be much better coaches (Mike Smith, John Harbaugh, Rex Ryan, Jim Schwartz, Raheem Morris), or guys like John Fox or Mike Shannahan. Instead, they keep the garbage they have. Better the devil you know, then the non-devil you don't.

Agreed. There are always some, I was just pointing out who the Jags missed out on during their futility of Jack Del Rio the past few years.

I will all but guarantee you the Fins and Chiefs will hire their new coach faster then the Jags. Both seem much more willing to spend money. And both teams need to fire their coaches (Miami needed to do it last year when they actually tried to hire a coach without firing the predecessor).

He was getting stronger as the game went on, though. If they would've ran him early and often, there is no doubt in my mind that the offense wouldn't have been completely stagnant. Garrard played himself off the team. He was given the chance to prove his worth and failed miserably. The Jags haven't done anything offensively that Gabbert can't do.

Money. Del Rio got a huge contract following the 2007 season when the Jags went to the Divisional Round of the playoffs and gave the Patriots a run for their money. The thing is, though, is that Mike Smith was the Jags defensive coordinator for years. I wish we had Smitty back.

But I don't want Shanahan as a coach. He is about as overrated as they come. He's accomplished nothing since John Elway retired.

It wouldn't surprise me, but with two of Carolina's linebackers out, I'm expected a huge day out of Jones-Drew. The Jags pass defense has been very good so far this year, and while Newton has been putting up a lot of yards, he's also thrown four interceptions. The Jags have also said they will be opening the playbook up more this week with Gabbert. I think if the Jags let Jones-Drew control the game on offense they could be fine. It's going to be a good game I think.

But I just now saw someone's suggestion for the Jags next head coach (sorry I can't remember who it was, Megatron maybe?), and they said Jeff Fisher. I don't think there is an available coach I want less than Fisher. He is unbelievably overrated in my opinion. He was .500 or worse in 10 of his 16 years as a head coach, which really isn't that much of an upgrade over Del Rio, if any. In fact, all he is is Del Rio with the exception of a couple of seasons. I did like the Rob Ryan suggestion, though.

I'm not saying the guy is Bill Bellicheck but he was a head coach for 16 years, went through two rebuilding periods, and only had 5 seasons where he was under .500. I'll take that over someone unproven.

Del Rio took over a better situation then Fisher did plus he only had to go through that initial rebuilding period. Fisher won 11 games 4 out of 5 years after his initial rebuilding period, Del Rio has only won 11 games twice in his career. Plus Fisher has a better winning % then Del Rio in both the regular season and playoffs. Fisher is a much better coach then Del Rio

On to a different topic. The Yankees sclinched a playoff berth. And the magic number to clinch the division is 1.

The Yankees are facing the Rays tonight and tomorrow, and have a 3 game series with Boston then a 3 game series with Tampa again to end the season.

This is a bit of a weird time. The Sox (who are playing shittier then shit) benefit from the YANKEES beating the Rays (so the Rays don't catch Boston). And the Yankees kinda benefit from the Rays winning, as they can potentially knock the Red Sox out of the postseason.

Question. Are Red Sox fans rooting for the Yankees to beat the Rays, thus clinching a spot in the playoffs for the Sox?

And are Yankee fans actually rooting for the Rays to win so they can catch the hated Red Sox?

I personally am rooting for the Yankees, but am not upset if the Yankees lose against the Rays.

Yes I mentioned him, and it was because he did make a SB and has been relatively successful. Out of the proven guys available though, (I'm thinking Cowher, Gruden, and Fisher), he'd be the 3rd guy I'd want.

On another note, here's how weird these last 3 games are. Hector Noesi just gave up a 2 run double, allowing the Rays to tie the game with the Yankees, and I'm happy. Now if only the Orioles can win against the Red Sox....

The whole picking the Yankees over the Sox thing was probably because virtually all the prognosticators (at least on ESPN) were proverbially sucking the Red Sox dicks during the Preseason. People forgot the Yankees still had a damn good team.
