The Sports Bar

Florida pro fanbases suck dick. The Rays can never get above 15,000 a game and they've been to the playoffs 2 of the past 3 years. Marlins is always empty. Bucs are always blacked out. Jags aren't a raging crowd, and the Heat fans couldn't even show up for sell outs even with the Big 3.

I know they don't draw well because who'd wanna go to a sports game in Florida when you have all the nice beaches and women and weather, but it still makes me mad that those teams are pretty much a black hole for their leagues (in terms of fans).

This must be just what ESPN wants. An extra inning game going past midnight in the east between two teams who have been out of the race for months when people are waiting to get highlights from week one of the NFL season. I'm about a 1000 times more a baseball fan than football, and a Cub fan, but even I realize this is terrible for their network.

can't blame them for wanting to be in New York on 9/11/11, but they definitely didn't want it to go this far.

oh, and....

J!E!T!S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

Completely understand them wanting the game. Just bad luck that it went so long. I just picture the network executives just screaming for the game to end. They must have lost a lot of viewers who went elsewhere for their NFL highlights.

yeah. Did they air SC on ESPN2/News/whatever, or just wait for it to end? I mean they really should have started Sportscenter on ESPN2 at 11.

Although to be honest, I don't think ESPN is contractually allowed to air NFL Highlights until after NBC goes off the air (or at least until the game is final)

They just waited for the game to end before starting SportsCenter. ESPN2 had some basketball game from Argentina.

You mean they can't start SportsCenter until the Sunday night game is over? That seems odd. I could see not showing highlights of the game that's on NBC but to not be able to show any highlights sounds strange.

they can air SC, but I'm 90% sure they can't do any NFL highlights. NBC has exclusive NFL coverage, and ESPN airing highlights would compete with that. I don't have NFL Network, but I don't even know if they do it.

How bout them Tigers? 11 straight wins and 21 of 25.

What do you get when a Duck from Oregon has sex with an Irishman from Notre Dame? Michigan States new uniforms.

Mariano Rivera just recorded his 600th career save. For the final out, Russel Martin caught Ichiro stealing.

By the end of the season, he will stand alone as the All-Time Saves Leader (he only needs 1 to tie Trevor Hoffman)

It's nice that they'll clinch this division early enough to set up their postseason rotation. I'd go JV, Scherzer, Fister, Porcello, although if they're in a must win they may reach for JV in game 4 on short rest.

And those MSU unis are gonna be for one game, not permanent. Against UM this year. Like Boise's and Georgia's this year when they played each other. It's just for some more moolah, since that's what makes the NCAA go round and round.

I'm calling it now. The Jags will beat the Jets Sunday. They match up so well with them.
Not a single matchup favors the Jaguars. And Luke McCown vs. Jets D is enough of a detriment to all but guarantee a Jets (I mean Titans of New York, as they're wearing the Titans throwbacks this week) win.

Tedy Bruschi is reminding me why I hate him so much. :) Gremlin looking neanderthal.
I never had a big problem with him as an analyst. That is, until he decided to bitch and moan about Chad OchoCinco not being a team player, because he COMPLIMENTED Brady on Twitter. I didn't believe complimenting a teammate is a way of NOT being a team player.

I agree.

I know that but it's still hilarious that they will be wearing uniforms without there actual team colors.

Eh, there's still green in them. While there is gold in them, I'm not bothered by them. Nike's apart of it and we know, from Oregon, how they like to trick out their uniforms like that. Also, this could be good for State, recruiting wise. While green and white is their traditional colors, they don't have a long standing history with their unis like Bama or UM. They've changed their uni's 6 times since like 2001.

I read an article on mlive that said MSU should try to be the Oregon of the MW, with their deal with Nike and such, and I agree. Let Phil Knight ****e out MSU's unis as much as possible, if they want. It gets kids to notice, and kids will come for trivial reasons like all the uniforms they wear (don't believe me? Blount and James said that Oregon's uni's were the first reason they were drawn into them). MSU isn't exactly in the hotbed of recruiting land, so if they get a few kids from Florida, Texas, and Ohio because of their uni's, what's it hurt? MSU doesn't have the history of some bigger schools, so why not do something like that to get the advantage over those schools.

tl;dr - MSU shouldn't be afraid of having multiple uniform choices b/c it'll bring in some recruits.

My gut says Roethlisberger by my head keeps telling me Orton.

Orton can put up big numbers, Cincinnati's secondary looked really bad at times against a team that may have the worst aerial attack in football, Roethlisberger looked awful last week against a team that he should know well, Pittsburg's offensive line is hurting, Mike Wallace is getting more attention this year, Orton's fighting for his job, Seattle is unlikely to put up enough points to force Pittsburg to start throwing, Roethlisberger is now married and probably miserable as hell with no pussy to play for.

Yet still Roethlisberger has been his best when everyone thinks he is down.

I don't think I helped much.

Trevor Hoffman has company.

Mariano Rivera just tied Trevor Hoffman atop the all time saves list, with his 601st career (regular season) save.

One of us was Nostradamus. One of us was NO-stramus (or Nostra-D'oh!-mas)

Jets kicked the Jaguars asses, in all facets of the game. And Luke McCown vs. the Jets D was MORE then enough of a matchup to guarantee a Jets win. He was bad enough that his ass got pulled and he might be removed from his position permanently.

Oh, and last I checked, I did say look out for the Titans and Matt Hasselbeck. It's only 1 week, but 350 Matt Hasselbeck passing yards against the Ravens Defense might be a good sign.

Finally, Who would of thought that the winner of Michael Irvins reality show to give a kid a Cowboys roster spot (4th and Long, aired on Spike back in 2009) would actually go on to have a 100 yard game (OK, 96, but still) for the Cowboys in 2011? Jesse Holley FTW.

Yes it is just one week. Let's not forget the week prior they lost to a bad Jacksonville team led by Luke McCown. I'd chalk this up more to the Ravens overlooking them then the Titans being that good. The Titans MAY win 7 games because they have an extremely easy schedule but they aren't winning their division.

On a side note, Jason Hanson played his 297th game today with the Lions. That is the most games ever played for one team. Another record for one of the greatest kickers of all time.
