Not so much "contributed" as being totally responsible for it.

Ever seen The Tenant? Polanski's best film in my opinion.

I actually haven't. What has Kafka written.

I was going to buy Either/Or by Kierkegaard and was looking something by Gegek or whatever the fuck that philosopher's name was.

Really? Odd, I figured you'd have atleast heard of his work. Definitely, definitely put his work at the top of your To-Read list, his two most famous works are probably The Metamorphosis and The Trial, both of which are wonderful. They're both quick reads, I'd highly recommend the both of them. The Castle is also wonderful, among many of his other short stories. Kafka was a genius, he's like the literary equivalent of a surrealist filmmaker like Luis Bunuel.

Well if you're interested in Kierkegaard and existentialism then you should definitely seek out some Franz Kafka, along with Dostoyevsky he's considered among the best and most important existential fiction writers ever.

Ever read any Dostoyevsky?

These are all people this kid I know tells me to look into. I'm buying more books because I want to be better read.

Well if you ever want any suggestions, you know who to ask (TDigs or I obviously ;))

We know our stuff. And soon...so shall you. I'd suggest getting on the Dostoyevsky and Kafka soon. Kierkegaard is very good (better than Nietzche) as long as you don't mind a bit of religious undertones to your philosophy.

So what drugs have you been experimenting with today Der Murfen Kommissar?

I just got two new books: The Plague by Camus and The Savage Detectives by Bolano.

The Savage Detectives is easily one of the best books I've ever read. Some wannabe jaded blogger said it made him run out of his apartment and scream for joy when he finished it. And, even though the guy seemed like a right cunt, I couldn't help but nod in agreement with what he said.

Also, in terms of philosophy, don't even think about tackling Kierkegaard right now. It might be the case that you're a genus and will understand every word he says, but, more than likely, you'll throw his work across the room out of frustration after the first twenty or so pages. If you want to get into philosophy, start with some Plato or Descartes. Kierkegaard is a continental philosopher, so, you will more than likely have to read Kant, Schopenhauer, and Hegel before you can truly understand what he's saying (you'll probably have to read some Husserl and Nietzsche as well). And, unfortunately, while Kant and Schopenhauer are a bitch to get through, Hegel is pretty much fucking impossible.

I commend you for wanting to read some existentialist philosophy, but, I'd wait until after you've taken a class on Kant in college.

None so far, but at the next party I go to I'll have to bring some weed.

I knew you recommended it, so I figured that I should pic it up.

I looked through Border's super small philosophy section and wanted to pick up either Thus Spoke Zarathustra or Either/Or. They seemed to be the most interesting. I was also considering Descartes' critique on...um method I think.

Currently reading...
The Savage Detectives(pulled me in faster than I thought it would)

They're all good IMO

I'm watching Boondocks right now. I record 6 hours worth of recording on Cartoon Network on Saturdays.

I have a Wii and XBox 360, but I don't really buy many games.

I do like games, but I never have enough cash on person to just buy a game.

Sure, they might ask though. I feel that by the end, I was just repeating myself after 9 rounds. How many do you want to judge? I have a list of 44 debates I need judged.

They can shoot me a pm if they want to know why, but I feel like I'm repeating the other judges when I put up my reasoning. It also takes up time.

Send me your list, man.

Next Sunday? Hmm. I can probably get a big chunk of them done. It's late, so I probably won't do any tonight, but if I can just read and post scores I can get through them at a good pace.
