Famous director that drugged and raped a 13 year old girl. He also contributed to one of my favorite movies of all time.
I didn't want to use the root direct again in the post. I give some credit to Nicholson, Dunaway, and Huston. Not so much "contributed" as being totally responsible for it.
No...haven't seen it.Ever seen The Tenant? Polanski's best film in my opinion.
I actually haven't. What has Kafka written.
I was going to buy Either/Or by Kierkegaard and was looking something by Gegek or whatever the fuck that philosopher's name was.
I just got two new books: The Plague by Camus and The Savage Detectives by Bolano.
None so far, but at the next party I go to I'll have to bring some weed.So what drugs have you been experimenting with today Der Murfen Kommissar?
I knew you recommended it, so I figured that I should pic it up.The Savage Detectives is easily one of the best books I've ever read. Some wannabe jaded blogger said it made him run out of his apartment and scream for joy when he finished it. And, even though the guy seemed like a right cunt, I couldn't help but nod in agreement with what he said.
I looked through Border's super small philosophy section and wanted to pick up either Thus Spoke Zarathustra or Either/Or. They seemed to be the most interesting. I was also considering Descartes' critique on...um method I think. Also, in terms of philosophy, don't even think about tackling Kierkegaard right now. It might be the case that you're a genus and will understand every word he says, but, more than likely, you'll throw his work across the room out of frustration after the first twenty or so pages. If you want to get into philosophy, start with some Plato or Descartes. Kierkegaard is a continental philosopher, so, you will more than likely have to read Kant, Schopenhauer, and Hegel before you can truly understand what he's saying (you'll probably have to read some Husserl and Nietzsche as well). And, unfortunately, while Kant and Schopenhauer are a bitch to get through, Hegel is pretty much fucking impossible.
I commend you for wanting to read some existentialist philosophy, but, I'd wait until after you've taken a class on Kant in college.
Sure, they might ask though. I feel that by the end, I was just repeating myself after 9 rounds. How many do you want to judge? I have a list of 44 debates I need judged.
Next Sunday? Hmm. I can probably get a big chunk of them done. It's late, so I probably won't do any tonight, but if I can just read and post scores I can get through them at a good pace.
