RIP Sgt. Michael Paranzino / RIP CM
Discuss it's greatness and/or it's failures. New season just started.

I really enjoyed the season premiere, there were a few cheesy moments and a groan or two but overall I really liked the new characters introduced and the storyline was geniunely intriguing to me. I also really loved how they used Parkman, treating his power like a drug that he's trying to quit. Claire's in college and I thought that was fun to watch as well. I'm expecting this season to be better than the last one, but still have some groan-inducing moments. I don't think we can ever expect it to be as good as it was during the first season.

I love Heroes. I agree, the first season was as near perfect as can be, however the second season I think isn't as bad as some people think. Last season was markedly better though, looking forward to see the next series over here in England. Don't ruin anything for me!

Yeah alot of people hated the second and third seasons/series, but I thought they both had some really good moments. The hatred the show gets from some of it's former fans and critics now kind of pisses me off. Yeah, it's not as good as the first season, but it's still better than the majority of garbage on television. There are definitely flashes of brilliance. Don't worry, I won't spoil anything for you, I added a note to my original post for everyone to use spoiler tags. Now all you have to do is resist those spoiler tags. Good luck with that sir!

I agree with you. The main criticism I have with season two is that there were too many characters to focus on, like the Mexican immigrants, and also too many storylines went on too long (Hiro getting stuck in feudal Japan). Tbh, the new season looks like a big improvement, and towards the end of the last season I thought the episodes were nearing the standard of the first season.

Just got done watching last nights episode...nothing special. I really like what they're doing witih Parkman, but that's about it right now. I like how they were using his power as an addiction he can't help but give in to, and Sylar has definitely been more amusing now that he's not struggling with daddy issues anymore.

Not sure how I feel about the Claire story developing. Aren't these two supposed to have a lesbian kiss or something in this season? Sounds like a publicity stunt to me. Oh well, I'm not complaining, Hayden is simply stunning.

This episode just felt really slow though...like nothing really happened. It seemed to go on and on, but I enjoyed most of it, so I wasn't disappointed. Hopefully next week's episode is better though.

I love Heroes. It is one of my favorite television programs ever. My favorite character is Sylar. I think that he has the most depth to his character and I am really enjoying him right now inside of Parkman's brain. I think that he is the most entertaining person on the whole show.

I can't stand Hiro. He is the most annoying person I have seen on T.V. in a long damn time. Everytime he comes on and says something I almost feel sick. Why couldn't Hiro be cooler?

I definitely see why people had issues with season 2 and 3 with the many inconsistencies that the writers admitted to but I'm not one to fret on the negatives so I have enjoyed the entire series. Where this season is concerned I am liking it so far. While the ratings keep getting worse for the show I am hoping that with NBC being in a decline overall that they have lower expectations for the shows ratings and choose to keep it beyond this season/volume.

So, yeah, I keep forgetting to post in this thread. Am I really the only person who still watches Heroes on this forum? Fucking lame.

I for one thought last night's episode was great, I don't understand all the hate Heroes gets nowadays. Obviously Season 2 was a huge downstep from Season 1, but I thought Season 3 started to kick it back into gear. I've really liked this season so far, I love the carnival family/cult, I like what they're doing with Claire at college, and I really like how they've reinvented Sylar in this season. Having him lose his memory was a good idea as the character can start fresh with us after having his character going in so many different directions the last few seasons.

The main thing I really like about this season so far though is that there's no terrible event waiting to destroy the world. I know it may sound silly, but after a while having every season and episode revolve around trying to save the world gets boring. One of the appeals of Heroes is that it's about everyday normal people who have these powers, they aren't supposed to be out fighting crime in my opinion, I'd prefer a more realistic approach (yep, a more realistic approach to superheroes, you heard right). Most people, if they discovered they had super powers, probably wouldn't be out fighting crime, they'd be out having fun with it.

I would but it's not on here in the UK for some reason. The official line is it'll be broadcast before Christmas, rumours are swirling the new season will start in January. Which sucks.

Anyway, from what I hear about it, this season is a marked improvement over Seasons 2 and 3. Am I the only one who thinks that Season 2 would have been a lot better had the heroes got to the Guantanamo Bay style prison? All through that episode I was begging the plane to get there. Any thoughts on that?

I watch Heroes but haven't got around to getting behind Season 4 just yet. I enjoy the show but I think alot of things have affected it, mainly the Writer's Strike, it did ruin the momentum on some part for me because they had somewhere to go and it fell back.

End half of Season 3 really did start getting back to form and I really did enjoy the last episode as I thought this could save Heroes. I honestly do believe this is the make or break Season for Heroes because if it flops, I can't see it returning. I will try and catch up on Season 4 tomorrow if I can and let you know what I think.

Also, Season 3 just came out on DVD yesterday, £40! What a rip off! I thought the season was decent but £40?

I have really enjoyed this volume. I really like the Sylar storyline and the direction that it has now taken. It's a nice contrast to have the Sylar without a memory but also Sylar's memory being with Matt. Sylar is able to take the appearance of Nathan still at some point if he remembers to or if it just happens for some reason, but it's looking like Adrian Pasdars days on the show may be at their end since Sylar has taken his own form.

It seems like Claire has matured. I always understood why she was quick to do certain things because a teenager isn't always rational and a teenager with a super power (if such a thihng could happen) probably wouldn't be either. In some of the previous volumes she'd already be off on an adventure by now but the everyday life aspect is finally being used again for a longer period of time. The same applies to Peter who is more "grounded" so to speak.

I'm interested in seeing how everyone inevitably comes together again, especially cause, as mentioned the typical end of the world scenario isn't part of the stories. I know that he isn't the most popular character but I'd like to see Mohinder again. Since other characters have been written to make better decisions now, I'm guessing that he will be portrayed the same as well, just like he used to be.

I hope that doesn't happen, Adrian Pasdar is a fantastic actor and one of my favorite parts of the entire show, he should be on the show forever as far as I'm concerned. Ever seen his work in the short-lived show Profit? Man that guy is crazy talented.

I'm digging the Sylar storyline too though. I also loved the fact that we saw Ernie Hudson guest star on Monday's episode, I love that guy to death from his days on Oz.

Ernie Hudson kicks ass.

What happened to Suresh? I liked him.

I wish they could find a way to tie up a couple loose ends in this show. Whatever happened to Peter's girlfriend in the future? When do we meet Barbara, Traci and Nikki's other (triplet?) sister. Otherwise, the show is still gripping for me so all's good. I love this carnival storyline, it has some promise.

Yes I did and I agree.

Me too. I first became a fan when I was young and he was in Ghostbusters like you may have as well. Hopefully his stint on Heroes is longer than just last week. As for Oz, it's still one of my favorite shows. When HBO was airing the entire seasons from start to finish each night, taking few month breaks to air other series, then reairing it again I often watched it. Plus I watched as it first aired. It's one of those shows that I never get tired of.

. Whatever happened to Peter's girlfriend in the future?

The timeline that she was left in ended up being prevented by the time the season/volume ended so she is presumably stuck in that timeline forever or erased from existence..The real question imo is why did Peter get over it so quickly? Then again Matt fell in love with Daphne and pretty much immediately got over her death too lol. In some cases the loose ends are supposedly due to the writers dropping certain things due to the strike and in other cases it’s due to “poor writing” according to the writers. In other cases (like with Barbara) maybe we'll see that character one day but if not then we can assume that like the many other people with powers that we have never seen, she is going about her life.

I wish that I could recall this one site that had weekly interviews with writers or producers after each episode where they answered some questions that weren’t covered on the show. It was obvious that some of the answers were covering their butts but it was still interesting. Tim Kring admitted in one of them to an unconventional way of going about things last season where different writers would write different parts of the shows as opposed to having a more cohesive unit, and often neglected to make sure that everything was consistent when the final product was filmed. It seems to me, as some of us have mentioned, that they have overcome those things with this volume at least.

Edit: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=20086 there is one from last year. I haven’t read it since I just quickly looked so I don’t know if this is one of the ones that mentioned inconsistencies but I figured that you might enjoy reading it regardless. If you go to google and type in "Behind The Eclipse" week whatever you can find different ones.

I apologize if I wasn't supposed to post that link. It's not to another forum and its just being posted for reference.

Minor Spoilers May Follow

Good episode this week. Any time you've got Ernie Hudson on any television program, my eyes are thoroughly glued to the screen in excitement, I just love that guy to death.

Sylar becoming a part of the whole circus family thing was predictable, but enjoyable and well done. Sylar (or as he wants to be called now, "Nathan") seems like a completely different character now, though I'm guessing that's because it's not really Sylar.

The ending was a bit confusing with Hiro traveling back to his old girlfriend Charlie (from the diner). I wonder what reason they could have for bringing her back?

Wow next week's episode looks fantastic though, a very Halloween themed episode. Looks awesome.

I can agree with you in that the series really hasn't been as entertaining since the Writer's Strike. Season 1 was outstanding. Season 2 was just a travesty. Season 3 was meh. And 4 is okay so far. Still, none of them come anywhere near as good as the original Season, and I think it's a shame. This series had such damn potential.

Does anyone think that the show would have been better off from a creative perspective going with the original plan of changing most of the cast each year as opposed to constantly coming up with new stories for the same people? I like the original characters that are still around and like I said I am a fan regardless of the obvious flaws, but sometimes I wonder if the original plan would have made things better or been annoying since we'd have gotten used to people only to see them disappear.

A few things, first off, You are not the only one who still watches, I just never found this before. Secondly, you're right about the lack of total earth annihilation being a good thing. What was really cool about season one was getting to know the characters and their powers. Season two tried to do that again, but rebounded with the Villains arc due to (in my opinion) Arthur and Angela Petrelli as opposites leading sides being interesting, as well as Peter becoming more like his future self. Now this season we're seeing these people adapt to normal life with their abilities, struggling and seeing where it takes them. The other thing that Heroes has done well this season is introducing characters by using established characters. This season has been fantastic, and there is a feeling of some sort of climax coming soon, especially with the Parkman/Sylar thing.

Man I have only just found this thread. I'm loving the new series of Heroes. Every episode so far has been awesome reminding me of Season 1.
I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode finding out what actually happened to Suresh and IF Hiro can prevent it from happening again. Rumours are that a major cast member is leaving the show/going to be killed off. I wouldnt mind so much if it was Suresh as I feel his storys have been the weakest throughout the series.

Peter's story so far has been great and I'm really liking his and Hiro's interactions with the deaf girl. Is it just me who is hoping Peter can regain the ability to absorb abilitys again? as he was badass in the first couple of seasons. I'm with you X I'm hoping we haven't seen the last of Adrian Pasdar as he is a fine actor and I kind miss his charcter. Sylar taking control of Matt should be interesting especially with Samuel trying to find the 'real' Sylar. I'm really looking forward to the future for this show IF it has one, I hear the ratings are fairly low which is disappointing as this season has been exceptional.

I never watched Heroes, but heard it was awesome, so i got season 1 on box set for Xmas, and fuck me!....it is awesome! I literally sat down and watched pretty much the entire first season non stop (yeah im a lazy uni student with not much to do!). Iv now seen the 2nd and 3rd season, but Iv yet to see the 4th. My favourite character is Sylar, man this guy just kicks arse and takes names. Peter was pretty mint aswel, but when Arthur stripped him of his powers i was guttered. He can only use one at a time now, so thats shit, i hope in season 4 he regains his ability to use any power so he can whoop Sylar.

I heard that the reason Sylar and Peter never really really dominated the Heroes was because of a low special effects budget? And iv heard that the budget is being hugely increased for season 5, so if that happens I cant wait. Iv also heard that T-bag from Prison Break is the new bad guy in season 4, that should be good..
