The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

New t-shirt day!

So how does everyone gauge their erection for tonight as opposed to the other live specials?

I think we could be in for something truly special with Owens and Zayn. If only because they have ran through these paces so many times before, and now will have this stage, on something so high profile and important.

Neville and Balor should be fucking class.

The womens match will be good, but not to the quality we have seen on the other live specials.

Perhaps The tag title match is our Tyler Breeze vs Sami Zayne memorial "match that you shrugged off but ends up actually being pretty fucking incredible" candidate for this time around. Wub wub wuuuubbb.

Breeze Vs Itami has potential to be surprising.

Only 6 matches, with Bull Vs Corbin to be fairly short. Hopefully we get an Enzo and Big Cass segment, my wife enjoys them.

I don't think this will be the best overall card, but the highest points will be as high as any of the other ones.

As big as Seth Rollins', which is normal because we have similar sized penises.

Don't laugh.

The card is absolutely stacked, as per usual, and Sami Zayn will produce something really special, as per usual. The only possible cherry on top would be if Mrs. NorCal gets her wish and Enzo and Big Cass get some screentime. Oh, and if Bull Dempsey had a dizzy spell and they had to call off his match, that would be just super.

This show has to worry about being Backlash 2001: the followup to an all time great show that can't live up to the hype. It should be awesome, but NXT has set such an awesome standard that it's going to be hard to measure up.

She is interested in them, and Finn Balor.

Exchange from last night

"I told my boss im going home early Wednesday. NXT live special"

"Ok!! Is the paint guy going to be on it? Prince Ferdag?"

"......Yes. "

Triple H on Twitter QA -

"Were do you see the NXT brand in 5 years?"

"Its own brand, much more than just a pipeline, but an alternative"

*lifts table*

Much as I would love that, I see how unlikely it is.

She is interested in them, and Finn Balor.

Odds of Finn donning the paint again? I'd say pretty high. If it were just some nothing match, I wouldn't expect him to - but this is for a shot at the NXT Championship against a man with one loss in the past sixteen months.

Who the hell shrugged off Zayn/Breeze back in May?

I think overall this will be a really good show but I highly doubt it's the best ever, the lack of build and the unproven talent for practically half of it scares me, but hopefully Itami finally hitting the GTS, Balor/Neville, and finally what will surely be a heartbreaking decimation of Zayn will make the night.

So anyways

For about 37 seconds last night, you could not deter me from claiming that Kevin Owens is the best pro wrestler perhaps on earth, but definitively in North America (I don't know enough about the Japanese guys to say he is better than them or vice versa).

His belivability and sheer commitment to being utterly irredeemable slime comes through every single thing he does....His promo, his mannerisms, how he wrestles....Everything.

Zayn, very similarly, has easily the most impeccable facial expressions, awareness of the moment and of himself in the ring, and ability to illicit sympathy and emotion of anyone on TV these days. Especially in regards to the facial expressions, he is peerless. Even a chinlock seemed like a desperate situation.

The finish to the title match was brutally old school, as well as being brilliant to me (albeit slightly confusing....Not sure how those types of situations usually go in WWE, but I feel like usually a title change would not occur...well, if it was a heel involved)

Very high points for the show last night, still probably the weakest live special they have done.

The only thing I had a slight issue with last night, & it's only cause I was confused was the title change, after YEARS of WWE announcers hammering it home that titles only change via pinfall or submission I was unaware they could also change hands via ref stoppage. When the ref stopped the match my initial thought was "Oh, they're going call that match, Kev looks dominant, & Sami keeps the belt & the feud continues into the next Takeover with Kev claiming he beat Sami & should be champ & wanting another shot, awesome! Good plan! NXT peeps!" & then the ref gave Kevin the belt & my reaction changed to "wait?... what is?... HOLY SHIT YES!!!"

Its great because it feels like that is how the crowd felt as well.

I could have SWORN ive seen ref stoppage in the past were there wasn't a title change, especially if the challenger is a babyface.

I am not sure if the confusing ending is better or worse for the overall rating of the match.

Beyond that the only flaws I could pick out was a bit of Zigglering by Sami at the beginning of the match with those corner clotheslines, and you could hear/see them talking a few times.

I don't think it takes MOTY from the RR triple threat, but its damn close.

I have always assumed a TKO is the same as a submission. No different than Backlund losing the title via Skaaland throwing in the towel.

No, it absolutely makes sense, and further drives home NXT being booked as an old school style show with a "legit feel" finish, but I just feel like I have seen it elsewere never result in a title change.

But, logically, why the fuck wouldn't it? Why is a match not allowed to be won by KO or ref stoppage?

Should be, and im glad they got it right.
