The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

Alex Riley's "He's only beaten him seven times - it's really hard to beat someone eight times in professional sports" shtick makes him sound like a cretin. In fact, it makes him sound like TheOneBigWill. You're painting the wrong guy as the underdog, you moron (hint: it's the bloke who's never beaten the other bloke).

Did anybody see Sami and Tyson's match on Main Event? It was really rather good and the crowd was actually quite into Sami.

And Finn Balor's already several hundred times more impressive than Itami. I guess there's no choice but to lay it in when you're jumping on people.

It’s a big night in NXT as we have two major stories to get to. First and foremost, Tyler Breeze is Sami Zayn’s latest obstacle on his road to redemption. Breeze is one of the only guys that Sami has never beaten and tonight they square off in what might be a #1 contenders match. Other than that we get to find out who Hideo Itami has found to help him in his war with the Ascension. Let’s get to it.

Indeed, This Is Awesome

Shame they edited out the massive eruption when Devitt came on screen like in the original live version, finally glad it happened though. Now we can get back to the Ascension rightfully getting their faces kicked like they should have been the last two months.

Maybe you were just listening to it on quiet? Because 1. That would be nonsensical 2. They popped like fucking crazy on the version I watched.

If you're referring to having Devitt pop up and then blur out to Balor it wouldn't be nonsensical at all considering they've openly acknowledged the original names and fans understand they must be changed.

If you're referring to the pop I guess the audio was just louder as it was actually in the arena. Regardless they were insanely into it.

You can already see Carmella breaking up Enzo and Cass by encouraging Cass to turn heel.

I, for one, hopes this never happens.

I'd probably kill myself. Bit extreme.

Though Carmella didn't have Enzo and Cass with her last week, hopefully they try to separate them and let Carmella do her own thing while Enzo and Cass continue to be awesome.

Tonight is a big show for NXT as we have the showdown between Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville for the NXT Title. I don’t quite believe we’re getting the full match tonight though, or at least we’re not getting a clean ending. Other than that we have the fallout from the debut of Finn Balor, who will be helping Itami in his war against the Ascension. Let’s get to it.

I'll Take Neville To Block

Finn looked awesome and Itami's kicks are looking a hell of a lot better, them finally putting the nail in the coffin of the Ascension should be great.

Sasha Banks is fantastic as usual.

I honestly can't tell the difference between Blake and Murphy aside from their pants.

Hunico/Cara has improved immensely. He might have always been this awesome but he's only just now showing how not useless he can be. Lucha Dragons as a whole are pretty great.

Hearing Gotch speak for the first time was unexpectedly strange.

Adrian Neville really heeling it up lately. To think what a match him and Zayn can put on in a pre-taped show. What they do at Takeover Evolution will be amazing.

Stuff i learnt from this week;

Blake and Murphy are very very good. If one of them can talk then they should become a top notch team as they improve their timing and other intangibles naturally.

Is Simon gotch related to Bayley at all? They have the same smile and it's creeping me out since it makes me picture Bayley with a moustache.

Sin cara is surprisingly strong. That one arm lift bomb before the Swanton was something that would be almost finisher worthy if presented better.

Best episode I've seen of NXT in a while, looking forward to Finn tearing shit up in the next few weeks.

So many unanswered questions:

  • Who was the large bald man in a suit in the front row who seemed (understandably) into Sami Zayn?
  • Who was the large lady with the "Push Tyson Kidd" sign who looked like she wanted to, ahem, push Tyson Kidd?
  • Will Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy become popular enough to make dubstep themes 'a thing'?

What we do know:

  • Finn Balor, despite the arguably unnecessary dramatics, is instantly a more exciting performer than Hideo Itami - by about tenfold. Balor seems to have a number of strings to his bow; Itami seems to have one broken string.
  • Sasha Banks continues to be "dear God, keep her in NXT, don't dunk her into that 'diva' cesspool" material.
  • That was a really well-worked main event, somewhat undermined by how we all knew what the outcome would be. It's not over yet though.

Sin Cara's schoolboy driver is a thing of beauty.

Wesley Blake and Bud Murphy are actually really, really good. Give them personality and longer matches and you've got a stew baby.

Finn Bálor is amazing but one thing:

We Irish don't know the meaning of the phrase unnecessary dramatics. Hell we spent 100 years fight over a small piece of land and by jove we'll do it again.

Sin Cara still looks like he's just half assing his way through the Lucha Dragons entrance, almost as if under the mask he's saying to himself "yeah yeah yeah, lets get this entrance over with, lucha lucha lucha, ugh can we just start the match already..."

So does anybody here consider a possible heel turn for Itami, after Balor gets all the love and appreciation from the NXT crowd? I would love a feud between those two right from the get go. Insanely better than this thing against The Ascension.

How good was that promo at the end? Shades of Foley from Sami Zayn. I can't have been the only one slathering myself in butter and moaning loudly while watching it.

Also: can't wait for Kevin Owens to debut on the 12th of November.

Also also: that was the best segment involving little people in a long time. Probably since JBL threw a garbage can at Hornswoggle.

We’re getting close to the end of the year and ultimately the next Takeover special, but now the main event isn’t as clear. Last week Sami Zayn was tricked into losing his NXT Title shot against Adrian Neville, leaving his future up in the air. Other than that we have Itami/Balor getting ready for their showdown against the Ascension which will be the newcomers’ official welcome to the company. Let’s get to it.

Speaking of teams who have nothing else left to do down there, what the fuck is the hold up on Enzo and cass? They and the ascension are long overdue. Lucha dragons and the vaudevillians are also ready to go. It's not like the tag division is Mariana trench deep right now

I don't feel like any aspect of the roster is deep right now but I still feel like a worried mother on their child's first day of school every time NXT talent is called up. For every Bray or Rusev, there's an Adam Rose or a Big E. Still, none of them have been outright disastrous, have they? I'll probably cry all day when Sami Zayn properly debuts.

Same here....i actively root against people being calledcalled up. And yes one was diasasterous....emma. however, I feel like the tag teams could get some decent breathing room. They have four legit teams right now on the main roster, none of which are particularly impressive. The usos and brothers Rhodes have their moments.

as for Zayne, hopefully they tweak his theme at 12/11....uhhhhh takeover revolutionary whatever the fuck it's called.

First part is excellent, but the rest of it needs to be a little more agressive.

I don't know about that - I've been researching his taste in music. I feel I can be forgiven for thinking Rancid were some sort of metal band for all these years.
