Not sure how to feel about the new theme for Breeze, I was a big fan of the old one. For some unknown reason I'm seeing shades of Shawn Michaels in him though and I like it.

Zayn is the only person who I can accept losing every match and looking amazing in defeat, even though I'd love to see him win a big match at some point.

Just finished watching Takeover. Solid overall. I was very impressed with Charlotte vs. Nattie and Breeze's performance in particular.
Who do I need to send an angry letter to regarding the murder of Tyler Breeze's theme? What the fucking fuck is going on? Sure Sami got an upgrade, but whoever signed off on the Breeze travesty should get rocks thrown at him. Heavy rocks, covered in salt.
So I am a bit late in watching the final match on Takeover, but ummmm....
Are we going to ignore the part where Neville tapped out? When Kidd has him in the Dungeon Lock & starts kicking him for the second time, Adrian clearly taps his hand to the mat 3x. Is there a new number limit on how many times you have to tap before its counted or what?
Glad it did not count for a win because Neville > Kidd, but that camera angle was sure hard to ignore.

I dont really watch NXT as in Australia its on at like 2:30 in the afternoon, however I did manage to watch Takeover and the question I have to ask is: Why is everyone given slight gimmick changes? Specifically the Ascencion, the last time I watched they came out with long fur cloaks with lights basically out and I thought "this is pretty sweet" and I would imagine them being bought up by taker as part of like a new ministry or something. But now they look like BDSM enthusiasts or some shit.

Was anyone else impressed by Mojo Rawley on the mic? I remember watching the early vignettes before his debut and thinking please kill yourself. So I groaned when he first came out but thought he delivered surprisingly well on the mic and then sold the demolition Rusev (who cant wave a flag for shit btw) gave him pretty well. Actually would have liked to see them have a match but obviously you cant have rusev return to nxt after squashing everyone and compete in a proper match

I'm sure he tried, but he just couldn't sit still for the bullet to hit him.
This is genuinely the least favourable review of Takeover that I've seen.
I think that was really the objective of that Breeze match - to make him look like a legitimate contender. Previously, he's been the bloke that was too scared to be hit in the face to put up much of a fight, getting squashed by any face with half decent credibility. Remember the Woods/Parker/Neville/Graves versus Breeze/Ascension/Kruger tag match? No, probably not. Point is: Breeze looked like a million bucks after the match, whereas previously I was describing him as a competent wrestler with a great theme. Now he's a good wrestler with a decent theme. Was the trade-off worth it? Well...
Obviously not.
When's a better time for gimmick tweaks than in developmental. The Ascension had been more like The Brood, now they're more on the... Demolition side of the spectrum. I think it's an improvement. They're less about the occult mystique, more about wrecking people. It just makes sense.

Its not that I disagree with tweaks overall just who it was that was tweaked. The Ascension were amazing, 90% of wrestling at the highest level is about telling a story not just wrecking people the occult mystique has more legs on the main roster than whatever you want to call what they currently are.
On a similar note the move away from ratboy to the Ascension should give fandango, zack ryder (not really) and others with terrible gimmicks hope and belief that creative can repackage people well

So people seemed to be split on the new Zayn theme, what's the general consensus here?
I love everything about it. It's so bouncy and it doesn't sound like anyone else's theme.
An improvement on his previous one. Tonally, a move into the right direction - perhaps too far in that direction, in fact. There's a whole middle ground there, just waiting to get Sudetenlanded. What's best about it is that it's unique.
Tyler Breeze's theme was a thing of beauty though. What happened to it is nothing short of cold-blooded murder. If they'd just given it that new hook - that sexy, sexy hook - it would have been incredible.

I like Breeze's new theme, but it just doesn't help that his previous theme was genuinely perfect and a fantastic song. If he had just sang over it, we could have had the best of both worlds.
We must remember that Bray Wyatt got to keep his genuinely top-tier theme and entrance when he went into the main roster, and Rusev got what was by all accounts an upgrade:
