The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

This week's episode was really meh, I'm starting to get really scared that its turning into RAW :(

Notes:

The "Pinky promise" chant was almost as awesome as the "lets go this guy" chant.

CJ Parker's promo was surprisingly good, makes you wonder why they tried to force him as a face for so long.

Every second HHH is on screen a puppy dies. Wasn't JBL supposed to be the authority figure in the show anyway?

Big Cass reminds me of Edge for some reason, maybe it's just the constant crazy eyes but there's something that resembles him for sure.

The big story at the moment is the build to the February 27 supershow, but the problem with that is the main show taking over NXT more and more every week. HHH’s cameos are becoming a regular thing as JBL as GM is rapidly being forgotten. I always knew that once NXT stopped being its own thing it would stop being as fun and that’s slowly starting to happen. Let’s get to it.

At Least We Have HHH

Yeah, well, they can't all be winners. At least we have a good version of the Rusev theme now:

Something for NorCal to beat up the flu to.

Just said I'd post this here, it's from Meltzer's Newsletter, if what he's saying is true I kind of expected it.

There is a fear among people internally that once NXT begins broadcasting on the network that the style it showcases will have to change to meet that of the one seen on main roster television. It's no secret that in NXT, the guys have more freedom to do what they want. It's their creative outlet to hone their skills and improve before being promoted, if their promoted at all. See: Chris Hero. But with the show moving to the network WWE might not want fans becoming accustomed to the development territory and viewing it as better than what is found on their televised shows.

Truth is, when it comes down to it, the people who watch NXT are the Internet fans. A casual fan doesn't know what NXT is, if they do they probably don't care, because it doesn't have the glamour of Raw or Smackdown. NXT is the hidden secret for WWE's universe because it's something completely different to what you get on television. It's WWE's independent territory of sorts, and it going to the network, is like that independent territory being bought.

NXT can be a great show and has produced some great matches such as the Zayn and Cesaro match in late 2013. It allows guys like Bo Dallas, who fans hated early last year to find his feet in the WWE. Does that mean It'll translate well to main roster television? That's the new fear. Their currently running vignettes hyping Alexander Rusev and Lana. Rusev was over in Full Sail because he squashed someone during every taping. Being over in Full Sail is like Chris Hero being over in ROH or PWG. It means about as much in the eyes of WWE. If it doesn't translate well to television, then it's right back to Florida for some more tweaking until they hit the right chord or someone gives up. Again see: Chris Hero.

For someone like Rusev, if he were to hypothetically fail on television, he doesn't have many places to go beyond WWE. That's why we're not going to see too many more independent guys signed up, because if they fail and leave, once they go back to the indy circuit like Chris Hero has, their stock rises, and WWE doesn't want that to happen. With less independent guys being signed you'll slowly see that free style diminish, especially once the likes of Zayn get promoted to television.

The NXT: Arrival show will be very interesting because it could be either the end of how NXT is currently shown or the beginning of how WWE plans to show it. They don't want people tuning into the network to watch NXT and see that the quality is higher than their television shows. To ironically use that phrase we hear so much, it's not good for business and it makes the main roster guys like Cena, Orton, Sheamus and others look bad, because fans will take the more independent influenced style NXT has over what the main roster guys can do.

How many years had Meltzer been writing a fucking newsletter and he still can't differentiate between "their" and "they're."

Zayn and Cesaro ad-libbed something based on a crowd chant. I'm surprised Triple H wasn't coming out to fire them on the spot.

Edit: Whoever thought of having an environmentally conscious character be a face in America was taking the same hypothetical hallucinogens as CJ Parker. They'll probably cheer him now that he's a heel, mind you.

Edit2: I liked that ending too. I liked that show. Now I want to see Bo versus Bray for the title. You people really must stop lying to me.

I'm worried about how much being on the main roster is going to ruin Emma and (eventually) Bayley for me.

Summer's gonna make me watch the new season of Total Divas. So Macios and I will have plenty to talk about.

She's a little skinny for me, but every friend that ever came over when I was watching wrestling raved about how hot she is.

Also, in an unrelated opinion, I'm starting to come around on Russev. Very athletic...

They'll be fine if they get them away from Santino and actually let them wrestle. What they did with Santino/Emma on NXT a few months ago just won't work on the main stage.

I agree. Love Santino as I do, pairing him with a new face on the main stage is pretty close to a kiss of death.

I swear to god, if WWE ruins Bayley when they bring her up to the main roster, I'm going to type out such an angry post! I might even go all caps.

Also, Summer doesn't do it for me. Her legs are awesome, but... That nose.

Summer's looks aren't what draw me to her. It's definitely her OTT routine. I love it.

It’s the go home show for Arrival, meaning I wouldn’t expect much of interest tonight. The main stories are Neville vs. Dallas for the NXT Title in a ladder match and Cesaro vs. Zayn in a 2/3 falls match because HHH wanted it to happen. Hopefully the boss isn’t around to impose his will on a promotion that doesn’t need him at all. Let’s get to it.

The Day I've Been Dreading

How about WWE put all their resources into cloning, and they clone one Zayn and one Cesaro and just have a fatal fourway with all four of them for the rest of time.

I'm working on some Arrival (or, if we must, ArRIVAL) gifs:
