The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

I want Joe to lose and debut at Summerslam to cost Reigns the US Title. Or any other scenario with Joe being on the main roster.

I've had my fill of Joe not being on the main roster, is what I'm getting at.

Joe vs anyone on RAW would be great. SD, basically just to face Cena, Kane or Wyatt.

This brings us to a problem. Who goes where next call up? Will there be GM's showing up at NXT to scout? Tuesday could use the star power, but damn it most of the fights I want to see would be on RAW when discussing Joe, Nakamura, Roode & Itami.

Rusev, Roman, Rollins, Sheamus, Big Show, Henry, Jericho, Owens, Zayn, Cesaro... Lesnar. My god can we have Joe/Nakamura vs Brock as soon as possible.

Why the fuck do people keep blathering this madness.

Its fucking Nakamura. He was brought here for a reason. Get this belt on him and let him carry the brand til next draft.

Its really not complicated

Jesus, calm your tits. I just think it would be really ridiculous if Joe lost the title to his first new challenger after the months and months it took him to get the title. I'm not saying Nakamura won't win ever. But I think Joe should win this match, and Nakamura should win a rematch.

It's really not complicated.

The fact it took him months to get it and its his first "new challenger" is totally irrelevant, especially if he just drops the next time he defends it.

Shinsuke is the biggest star, on the biggest show of the uear, and they have no baby face contenders after him.

Way too much time spent on Balor/Joe.

I see no reason Nakamura can't have one loss and win at a another date. No one would really care as long as the match is awesome.

The only way I see Nak not winning the title is if the match ends in a DQ. Joe needs to be moved up SD! ASAP, they desperately need more top heels on that shit roster.

Doesn't change the fact that Shinsuke winning tonight would just be shitty storytelling.

You're right. I mean, what's that old saying? Good storytelling is all about the destination, not the journey?

He's already had enough of a journey: he's come in and beat a handful of the best wrestlers in NXT's history. Having him lose to Joe now would be like having the hero lose in the third act just to stretch the movie out another hour.

But Nakamura's been booked as the guy who's better than literally everyone else on the roster. He's beaten Zayn, Aries and Balor clean. He's struggled very little, he hasn't had to adapt or change at all. He's just beaten everyone handily from the second he stepped foot in NXT. That's not an arc, that's just constant upward motion. Even Balor, the strongest-booked guy in NXT before Nakamura, had low points. He lost to Owens in his first title match and had to build himself back up.

Meanwhile, when Joe initally deserved a title shot, he wasn't granted one. He went through the obstacles, and lost to Balor twice. Finally, on the third go, he managed to get the title, and then finished his championship arc by defeating his white whale - the Demon. That would be a babyface arc, were not for attacking Finn at the beginning.

To me, it's like watching the Star Wars prequels, then skipping straight to Return of the Jedi. I don't mean in terms of quality, I mean in terms of storytelling. And it's incredibly disappointing to me, considering how well NXT usually tells their babyface stories, especially with Zayn and Bayley. But this debate could go on all night, so let's agree to disagree.

You mentioned Sami & Bayley. People can buy them as the underdog, they're smaller than most and weren't the face of one of the biggest promotions in the world

Would anyone buy Shinsuke as an underdog never able to win the big one until the last possible moment? Not anyone who knows his history.

They didn't go the Bayley/Sami route because it never would have worked.

I actually really like the fact that all three of the title matches are hard to call. I'm a little split on the main event; Joe is probably the best male character in NXT - his heel work is stellar and his matches never worse than solid. He deserves to move on to the main roster and to further greatness, but there's still unfinished business with him in NXT with his feud with Regal (and a likely Nak rematch, win, lose or draw, which is actually where I think they're going) and no matter how weak SmackDown is for top tier talent, or how much we want to see him hooking up with the solid midcard on Raw, NXT needs to not be totally pillaged and needs someone who's actually been around more than six months.

On a side note: silent killer type heel Itami versus Nak for the title down the line?

How dare you.

Nah that's an acceptable opinion to have. They're really good, that was one of the best tag matches I've ever seen last night.

I'm just glad Ciampa/Gargano didn't turn on each other yet. I don't see Authors of Pain taking on Revival and TM61 have no personality.

I'm just quite shocked at how good Revival are at just simply being the most basic heels ever. It's fantastic. Send those fuckers to SD! in the next six months.

I didn't once say that Shinsuke should be an underdog. But he's being booked as a hero, and heroes have to fail before they can succeed. That's storytelling 101.

Did you have an issue with this story when they told it with Asuka?

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about Asuka's booking... In her angles with Bayley, she's been portrayed as more of a tweener. It's kind of a grey area.

Also I agree that the Revival are awesome. They've faced off against three very different teams in Enzo/Cass, American Alpha, and Gargano/Ciampa, and each time they knock it out of the park. That's a sign of a great team. I hoped they're booked well on the main roster.

Holy shit that show was incredible. Sat 11 rows back on the floor for 70 buck (plus $15 in Stubhub fees).

Nakamura winning was the best scenario in the current environment. They didn't have anyone to fight Joe, and without another big show for a long time they couldn't drag the feud out that long with Nak not winning the belt. Not to mention the fact that about 64% of the fans in attendance were wearing Nakamura shirts kinda gives you the idea that him losing wouldn't be a good ending to the show.

Nakamura will now have a mini feud (ending on an NXT taping) with someone else while they prep for Joe's rematch. Or they hotshot Joe's rematch and he goes onto Smackdown Live.

Of course what wasn't shown on camera at all was that Samoa Joe spent the last few minutes of the match holding his jaw, and immediately following the match the ref put up the "oh shit the guy is hurt" sign and medical personnel helped Samoa Joe to the back. Given that I cannot recall anyone in the history of wrestling selling a jaw injury during a match I am highly certain he either has a broken jaw or some sort of mouth injury.

If that's the case, then a Japanese guy who doesn't speak English well vs. a guy who can't talk (as is the case with people with broken jaws) continuing a feud immediately would be rather difficult.
