The NXT Thread Is Like Ring of Honor's Bay-Bay!

NXT
Date: April 27, 2016
Location: Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, Texas
Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves

It’s a big night around here as we’re going to take a quick field trip up to Lowell, Massachusetts where Finn Balor lost the NXT Title to Samoa Joe. We’ll be looking at at least part of the match tonight, which is a really cool thing that NXT can do. When is the last time you even heard WWE reference a house show other than the European tour? Let’s get to it.

Graves' hatred of Mojo makes me laugh more and more every time.

Eva still hasn't gotten any better. Like at all. Carmella looked hotter than usual tonight, but I feel like I say that every time I see her. That triangle submission is pretty cool as a finisher.

I'm digging The Revival's war path back to the tag belts, suits them well.

Nakamura.

Opinionated post time

- I thought Eva Marie did all right this week and showed improvement. The fans' hatred of Eva is being played to, which is fine, but I feel the commentary bit about "she's struggled with the wrestling thing before" was too fourth-wally. No one on commentary should be saying that about someone we're supposed to be viewing as a wrestler.

- The forearm smash should die in a fire. Almost no-one does it in a way that convinces me.

- I am still backing the "camera faces the tron" perspective. It's different, yet retro at the same time, somehow.

Too late to edit last post

- The Revival's squash was friggin brutal and they looked awesome. They will make a fitting successor to the Dudleys as the "brutal" tier tag team.

- Lol at that jobber who yelled "I am respecting the rules!!" I would enjoy something like that as a regular part of the roster.

- Ryder has now chalked up 2 wins within a month!!

- >Actually calling him Swagsuke

- Nakamura is like IRL Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

- Don't care what anyone says, still like Samson. Glad he got some mic time even if it wasn't much

- Drift away is an actually good chant that works with Samson's gimmick. Nice one crowd.

Eva should be relegated to a valet for someone who really needs it. She'll never be competent in the ring simply because she does everything in slow motion. She barely bounces off the ropes, she's a half a second late on most hits her opponent throws, etc.

And to be perfectly honest I'm over Joe/Balor. The belt should have been off Balor in December and aside from Joe's amazing charisma there isn't much to the feud at all.

I'm finally watching the latest episode of NXTNA.

To think, I was in Massachusetts not a year ago. If only I'd hung around, I could have watched Samoa Joe win the NXT Championship.

Phillips and Graves talking about Asuka's dominance, Eva Marie's music hits, Graves: "Oh my God, it's all going to change!" Hilarious.

But the fuck is this getting more time than the tag team match last week? Asuka should kick her skull clean out of her head and we should move on.

I'm the dude that complained that Sami Zayn exchanging punches with Nakamura was dumb - can you imagine how I feel about this? Fucking Bayley didn't look this dominant. Christ!

A woman genetically engineered to be a badass, trained in fifty martial arts, who's run roughshod over the entire women's division... barely makes it past a woman whose entire character is a model who can barely wrestle. The match was fifteen minutes long! The only way this is acceptable is the next episode revealing the whole thing was a dream Eva Marie had in a coma after Asuka hit her with the force of a thousand concussions. Because that's what happens when a civilian gets in a fight with the champion.

Eva Marie getting so much air time makes me so angry that I just want to give the WWE money for a ticket to their event so I can express my anger in person.

I'm absolutely fine with her getting airtime - as, shockingly, I was for Sami Zayn when he was trading blows with the King of Strong Style - and absolutely fine with her getting ringtime. She had a really good match with Bayley, which was predicated on Bayley being much better than her but the powers that be conspiring to change the outcome. My problem lies with her beating up someone who's supposed to be the in-ring equivalent of Galactus - in Galactus' first appearance as champion.
