2. Winning a cage match by walking out the door. It's ridiculous how easy it is compared to climbing out of the cage or climbing a ladder. It's like if you run fast enough you can probably get away and jump through the door without even having to fight! That door should be locked and make them climb out of it.
5. The crowd can't count when Cesaro does his swing. They keep counting before he actually makes one complete rotation. By the time they get to 20, he probably only swung the guy like 11 or 12 times if you ignore the crowd and count yourself. And the thing is EVERY crowd does this.
Totally agree with these two. I'm not a big fan of escaping the cage in order to win at all, but walking through the door definitely shouldn't be a way out. And the counting things drives me crazy. They count every time he gets like 3/4 of the way around. I think it's because the rotations take so long, and the crowds are basically counting the seconds that he does it more than the revolutions...they're going by the rhythm that guys who are doing the corner punch or Sheamus's chest hits in the ropes(incidentally, remember the one time Brodus Clay was involved in a tag match and tried to get the crowd to chant G-R-E-A-T W-H-I-T-E for each of the hits? Why did they do that and why did it only happen once? That was weird), which are much quicker. So annoying.
The high number of wrestlers with boring generic names instead of a gimmick name e.g The Godfather, Big Boss Man, Road Dogg. Seriously they must just throw a list of names into a hat and pick 2 out at random. Luke Harper, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins Sami Zayn etc. It's not 1996, having a normal name isn't "real" or "cool", it's just incredibly boring.
Nah. Names like Godfather, Big Boss Man, and Road Dogg are stupid for the most part and it's wise to phase them out. It's fine to use them once in awhile, but they need to be the exception, not the norm. You definitely want most of the guys to have "real" or "cool" names. They're not boring, they're just not stupid. Nothing's worse than hearing "WWE Champion...Edge!" or "World Heavyweight Champion...Big Show!" Really makes you wonder what the hell you're watching and why you're watching it. If you want to complain about the normal(ie not stupid sounding) names, you can complain that they're not the wrestler's actual...real names. At least use their real first name, or a name they used on the indie circuit, so you can see the connection between the wrestler and the name. Like Michael Shawn Hickenbottom becomgin Shawn Michaels. That makes sense. Terry Bollea becoming Terry Boulder becoming Hulk Boulder becoming Hulk Hogan makes sense. Randy Paffo becoming Randy Savage makes sense. Jonathan Good becoming Jon Moxley makes sense...Jon Moxley becoming Dean Ambrose? What? I understand they want to own the name or whatever, but that wasn't an issue with John Cena or Randy Orton. And, again, you can make a slight modification that will still let you own the name but it still makes sense for the wrestler.
Agreed with pretty much the rest of your list, though.
People calling others IWC something or other on WZ......I seriously confused how they dont see they themselves are an IWC member, they are talking wrestling on the internet ,that is literally the definition of IWC
Nah. Yes, technically, by definition, everybody on the internet is the IWC, but you know it doesn't apply to everybody on the internet. When people talk about the IWC, it's a very specific subset of people who talk about wrestling on the internet. It's the people who cry about their favorite wrestler being "buried" every time they lose. It's the people who constantly talk about how bad the WWE's booking is, and whine about everything John Cena and Triple H do. You know who they are. The people who cry about how the WWE doesn't feature enough wrestling, how it's too PG, the people who think ROH is better than WWE even though they still watch the WWE for god knows what reason. That's the IWC. The people who believe the WWE always changes their mind, think the WWE blamed The Miz for the Survivor Series buyrate, think everything is booked on the fly, etc. because they believe EVERYTHING they read on websites like WrestleZone, without questioning it at all. That's the IWC. The people who think Daniel Bryan wasn't originally scheduled to win the title at WrestleMania and the WWE was forced to change their plans, because they think the WWE is run by incompetent morons who can't do anything right. That's the IWC.
Like many people here, I have a problem with the commentators, all three of them. Worst one being Cole, as whenever something heelish is going on in the ring, like a beatdown, they just go completely quiet and just hear Cole saying stuff like "This... it's hard to watch. How can he do such a thing..." Whereas whenever this happened with JR, he'd be all "OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE, HE'S HAD ENOUGH GODDAMN IT! SOMEONE STOP THE DAMN MATCH!"
For example, Cole at probably the biggest moment to ever happen in modern wrestling: "The streak... is over." Wow Cole, way to express the emotion... I miss JR so much.
Clearly, you're right about how much Cole sucks. There's no arguing that. But to be fair, he handled the streak ending PERFECTLY. I would hope JR would've done the exact same thing: call the finish and shut the hell up. The stunned silence of the announce team, without even Lesnar's music playing, fit the moment perfectly.
Oddly enough all the ones I can think of are all title defense related
Title entrance orders - I don't know when I first saw it but it was like some kind of rule that the champion would always come out last. For me that felt fitting since the champion shouldn't be waiting in the ring, that's for the challenger. But nowadays it's most popular guy last whether he's champ or not, and it just seems wrong that the champ has to be standing in the ring waiting there while the face get cheered. On a sort of related note
Introductions after entrances - Both guys gets their entrances, does their poses for the crowd, etc etc. And THEN they decide to introduce them. Just feels like a needless waste of time.
The Current Champion - Like the first one I don't know when they started adding this in but it always bugged me. Again this is unnecessary and makes the champ feel like a placeholder just waiting to be replaced compared to a champion where you'll have to win the title off him. Definitely one of those cases where adding more isn't a good thing.
Totally agree with the first one. The champion should come out last, all the time every time. Can't agree with the second one, though. I think doing the introductions after they're in the ring adds to the big feel of the match...in boxing and MMA, the title matches are treated like a bigger deal even in the introductions. The introductions are longer and more drawn out, then the fighters meet in the center of the ring for instructions from the ref. It makes them stand out from the other matches and builds the hype and anticipation.
Speaking of introductions, I'll start my list of things that bother me there: the random differences in what's included in introductions and what's not. It should be where they're from, their height, their weight, a nickname if they have one, their title if they have one, and their name. For every wrestler. And that's how it was for a long time. Now, they seem to pick and choose what to include for each wrestler. It seems like only the tall guys like Big Show and Great Khali have their heights included. And where's Big Show from? I have no idea, because they never say it when they're introducing him. I know John Cena's from West Newbury, and I know he weighs 248 lbs, but I have no idea how tall he is. Maybe the announcers just can't remember all that stuff, I don't know.
Commercials in the middle of matches. This happens way too often. I understand it's unavoidable during certain lengthy matches, but could be avoided more than it is. And it's always so predictable...one guy will get thrown out of the ring, the other will be standing in the ring, and the announcers will tell us the match continues next! as they fade to black. It's always in a lull in the match.
Bray Wyatt backstage lighting the lantern, telling the crowd they're here(I do like that they individualize it for each city, that was a nice addition), then blowing it out...and then coming out with a different(?) lantern lit. It doesn't make sense. There's got to be a better way to do that.
Somebody else mentioned the lack of pyro at the beginning of the show, and I definitely agree with that, but they don't even have a theme song anymore! They always just do their "Then. Now. Forever." thing and start with a recap of last week or the PPV or just get right into the beginning of the show. I miss having an easily identifiable theme song that got you pumped up for the show.
Wrestlers not properly clearing the announce tables when they're not going to actually put the person through it. Obviously they always remove the monitors if somebody's going through the table, but a lot of times if they get stopped, they won't actually remove the monitors. I mean, I'm sure the announcers appreciate their monitors still being there, but you know nothing's going to happen when they don't remove them.
Somebody else mentioned guys slapping their thighs for the sound affects when they're punching somebody(Kofi Kingston), and another thing some guys will do for the noise is just stomp down too hard on the mat. They're hitting the mat harder than they would be punching the other guy if the punches were real. Sometimes less is more, people.
Somebody else mentioned how some wrestlers will use other wrestlers' finishers as regular moves...I tend to agree with this, and especially submission moves. Are we just supposed to believe HBK's figure four wasn't as painful as Ric Flair's? But The Miz's was? Why, because Flair taught it to him? Like everything else, not a major issue, but it's a little thing that annoys me.
