The Lilypad

Okay, let's have a go...

-Thoughts on Constantine.
-Thoughts on myself
-How would you book a feud between Constantine and KO?
-Future Creative Members?
-Rank these Fed Heads: Lee/Phoenix/Ty.
-How does you commitment to Creative rank in regards to everyone else's?
-Kingdom Come main event predictions?

Constantine - Not sure if you read my comments on Holmes earlier, but I think you are a lot like him in the fact that you are consistent with your character's personality and that a single work does not always display how much of a great RPer you actually are. I have really enjoyed this recent direction of Constantine as a "king", but I would be lying if I said that the stable has not been a bit underwhelming. That is my personal opinion, though.

You - You are just a nice and chill guy. Your thread in the WZCW.com area before your title match really made an impression on me. I share a lot of the same feelings and goals inside of the fed. I really hope that one day we can work together behind the scenes, but until then I know you will always be one of the most sound regular members we have.

Constantine vs. K.O. - In a realistic world, I would still have Chris K.O., The White Knight, come to dethrone you from your evil throne. I could even have imagined us ending up fighting for the KFAD briefcase at like LL or something if you had agreed to it. I'm not quite sure how I would book a heel vs. heel feud now.

Future Creative - I am going to omit any former ones, because I think all of those that have time are always candidates when vacant spots become available. I think BK, Dynamite, Crock, Doc, and JGlass are all plausible prospects. I apologize if I am forgetting anyone off my list because I feel like I am.

Fed Heads - I feel unfair ranking them because I never got a taste of Lee as fed head, and I barely got live in the Phoenix era. So by default I choose Ty. :)

Priorities - On a good day: God, wife, family, friends, school, work, and then the fed. However, I'll be an honest Christian and say that most days look like this: Wife, family, friends, work, fed/school, and God. I try to strive for the first answer, though.

KC Prediction - I'm going to take a wild guess and say that one of the returners win the LL and we get the first triple threat main-event at KC with Holmes and Showtime.

Yeah I don't know why I got all mad about it honestly. I think it may have just been the stress I was under at the time in my personal life.

That's a cool story about how you came up with the name.

Have you ever considering coming up with a "knockout blow" type finisher to play off your name?

It's cool bro. Well, I have a finisher called The Sword. It is basically a massive clothesline from Chris that is suppose to put people down for good. I spent a whole cycle building up the fact that he put on a bunch of muscle in order to sell the lethal aspect of the maneuver.

I've always feared that Bowen was a bland character, what do you think I can do to improve this?

You've said you were a fan of Bowen's hardcore matches, outside of Vega, who would you like to see Bowen face in his first Mayhem match since beating Ricky?

Programs with Bowen in it that you'd like to see?

Thoughts on how I can get over the hump and make a real move to regular non hardcore matches?

Anything, don't hold back. On how to improve my writing?

Bowen - The logical answer would be to change him up. I would love to see an anti-hardcore version of Bowen that wears business suits and cuts his hair short. Don't lose Raven as your rep though, he is a staple to your character in my opinion. Which is rare because I think that there are very few characters who are "attatched" to their rep as Bowen is to Raven.

Programs - Bowen vs. Vega needs to happen, but it needs to happen sooner rather then later. The problem is that you are tied up right now. A random note, I feel like Bowen and Ricky Runn could have good chemistry together in a drawn out feud.

Getting Over - The honest answer is that you are going to have to submit consistent quality RPs and make it a huge point in your work that you no longer want to be a part of the hardcore scene. Not just in passing. I think the mentioned gimmick above could really produce a lot for you.

Improve Writing - You have a grunge style that is unique when compared to a lot of the writers in the fed, so I am not quite sure how to critique your writing without causing you to lose what I think is one the most important aspects to your RPs. I will say that I have noticed you pushing the deadline recently and being overwhelmed with things. So, maybe trying to make some more time to sit down and pen something outside of the box and of higher quality will be your key to breakthrough. Seriously, I know that I have mentioned it several times, but there is just so much that I can imagine Bowen doing if he made anti-hardcore his gimmick and became a white-collar citizen. Being entertaining is half the battle in a RP. Feel free to PM me if you want some ideas because my mind is flooding with them.

No because what does Showtime benefit by facing Thrash (as an example), there are much better things that would help. I've been a supporter of more title and contenders matches.

Things are much more interesting when people of similar skill and abilities face each other, like Drake beating Showtime a while back. Makes things less predictable, the heavy hitters should keep facing each other, the up and comers should continue going at it, and the lesser known newbies should fight each other until they earn the right to move up.

There's nothing wrong with mixing it up though. It's damn near essential to do eventually and without it we wouldnt have had Sab beating Ty.

See the problem with that is, you end up building glass ceilings for everyone in the undercard/midcard area if you only have them facing each other. I recall my second match in the fed being a handicap match against Sanka and Showtime, and I wrote out of my best RP's for that match, which ended up pushing me out of curtain jerking into the Tag Team scene with Numbers, and JGlass was still relatively new to the fed before ending Ty Burna's year long win streak in a match everyone had Ty pegged to win. Sometimes a squash match is good, provided the lower card talent steps up to the plate and aims to swing for the fences.

I'm in agreement on squash matches, but just to make an alt point. After KC 3 I had a match with Mr. Baller. I thought he delivered a very strong RP, but the writers must've saw things differently and wrote the match pretty well a squash match. I cringed a little for Baller, but to his credit he bounced back, had a great feud with Steamboat and then was in the Main Event at Unscripted.

It all depends really how you bounce back from it. I got jobbed hard in a match against FHD (that Milenko wrote) and I came back with one of my best RP's at the next PPV.

I don't have a problem with things being mixed up but I feel someone who just joined should earn his way up is all, but it's not that big of a deal it's all up to creative when it comes to who should be facing better competition, or what top level guy just needs to bounce back and faces a guy of lesser skill. I have a problem with the second part, but I like to think creative books matches based on what makes sense storyline wise most of the time.

I agree with both sides on this. An equal playing field is essential, but it doesn't hurt to throw in the occasional lower-card vs. upper-card match. A lot of times it drives the lower-card to dig deep and produce something wonderful.

I would like to pose another question to all of you, mainly because it is what I originally meant when posing the question the first time.

Should we have more (written) squash matches in situations where it make sense? For example, let's say that Mason Westhoff goes up against some new face and wins the votes unanimously. Should we write that as a squash for Mason in order to make him look more powerful or is everyone entitled to a certain length of match because they submit a piece of work?

I don't agree with us doing squash matches for the most part, however if you were to ask me if it's ok for a top level guy to square off with a lower level guy, I got no problem with that. As Pancake pointed out with Saboteur beating Ty out of nowhere, there's always the possibility of the lower card guy pulling out the win over the higher level person. Either which way it will push the lower card guy to give it his absolute best, while the top level person may learn a thing or two about not taking anything for granted as I learned the hard way.

Not only all that, but you need to mix it up. We can only have Drake vs. Showtime so many times before it loses luster when that's really a PPV quality match many times over. So merely keeping people in their perspective skill levels will stale out those matches relatively quickly. We don't have near the issues as we likely should since our midcard seems to be in massive fluctuation all the time so it allows for a multitude of matches that on paper are fairly even.

One final note here, is I believe Doc brought up that squash matches should happen more often a good while back, and I'll reiterate my opinion I had back then: It's not fair to the person that gets squashed for putting in all the work only to get put down so easily and get to read their character get taken to the wood shed and back. The best scenario is that writer takes it to heart and works harder on his next piece, however the opposite effect can happen and that person becomes discouraged. Unless of course the writing quality between the two opponents is so vast, then a squash may be necessary. A unanimous vote does not constitute a squash in my opinion because there's been many times where the two RP's were close but everyone agrees that the winner had just that much better of an RP. I like to think we do our best to make sure everyone looks good in their matches, unless you're Donny J.

It's been a little while my little tadpoles. Just a few flies to chew on today:

-With JAM's application, depending on his acceptance, he will become the fourth female character in the fed. What is the general consensus on girls vs. guys in the fed? Also, does the general male demographic find it difficult to RP against females (especially as a face)?

-For all of you that don't know, I just graduated college this past weekend. When I came back online after a 3-day hiatus from the fed, I began to think about Chris K.O.'s education. He has never step foot inside of a college class, and I don't think I have ever even touched any flashback material in his high school days. What education, if any, does your character have? I already know a few character's have various degrees, but feel free to share for the uninformed.

-Finally, Kermit Studios is currently brewing up something for the Lethal Lottery Opening. I just thought I would tease it a little more. ;)

That's a tough nut to crack... While as a bit of a feminist, it's great to see the ladies mix it up on an even playing field.

On the other hand, both myself and Grizzly Bob would NEVER harm a woman. It goes directly against everything I stand for. You can only play the "Momma told me not to hit ladies, but that Isabel Stone sure ain't no lady"- card so many times, before you're screwed.

First off, congrats!

Secondly, I was thinking about doing a RP about what Grizzly learnt from his father, how to be a man and how to respect the earth and whatnot, but the inspiration didn't come, so I decided to do that later.

I'd assume that the more cerebral characters, as well as the feel-good colledge characters have a degree, but the for the rest it's high school...

My thing on Girls vs guys actually comes from personal experience. When I played hockey up in Canada, they also had a girls league, but there was one who decided to come into our league. She was treated just like one of the boys, and hit harder than half of the team. Plus, she was one of two people on that team to get in a fight, and she whooped that guy's ass. Girls can be just as tough as boys, and I'm perfectly fine with it.

As for the education, in case wrestling didn't work out, Jimmy has a Bachelors in Computer Engineering, so I think he'd be set either way.

The first ever CHIKARA show I went to was main evented by El Generico and Sara del Rey. Generico, as most people know, is about as squeaky clean of a face as you will find anywhere. The opening couple minutes was spent with some chain wrestling, but Generico was clearly holding back since he was facing a woman. That lasted right up 'til Sara nearly took his head off with a kick. The match ended with Sara pinning Generico after a series of kicks and a piledriver.

So what does that have to do with us? Simple, if the women are booked as equals to the men, there should be no issues. Part of the burden goes to the match writers. Having stuff like what CHIKARA did with Generico can help save face (see what I did there?), but if the women are presented as legitimate competitors like they have been, then there shouldn't be any issues.

Mason Westhoff only completed high school, having run away from home the day after slash night of his high school graduation. He never went to college, but he is incredibly articulate and comes off as significantly more educated than he actually is.

I saw it coming years in advance. Mock me now, fuckers.

Legitimately, it's awesome and I think reflective of a great trend in wrestling (outside of the mainstream companies) toward more intergender action and really breaking down the idea that men and women can't wrestle each other. CHIKARA really brought this to the forefront of wrestling 2010 and it's exploded since then, and I love that WZCW is becoming part of the trend.

I guess Drake got through high school, but barely. It's not an idea I've ever explored much. I do see him as pretty intelligent, just education derailed due to his previous drinking.

Female characters are unique. I haven't fought Isabel, Celeste, or Sandy yet. I think it will be fun when Brent crosses paths wit hone of them. Amber looks like a good edition to the roster, and I have read some of JAM's Book This stuff, so I know he is a good writer. Should be fun. I have thought about making Alexis Jade a wrestler If I get burnt out on Brent. It would be fun to write a female character.

Ever thought of/discussed having a female division in WZCW?

And education? Brent's young. Got through High school with a great GPA. Started college, but quit to become a wrestler.

For education, Derek went to WVU on a football scholarship, but as far as grades he was pretty average.

No problem with female competitors here. If they can take a dick, they can take a bodyslam.

Just kidding.

Ask Harthan about that ;)

Harth, where ya at?

I don't know if I'd be for or against it. I think it might be cool to have a exclusive title for the girls.

Back in the day (before my long term hiatus) I was the architect of the Vixens division, which basically meant everyone could have a second character in an all female division. It was pretty much a train wreck.

I don't think an exclusive female title is in the cards right now. We'd need at least 8-10 to make it viable.

Christ. The Vixens? That's a memory long since forgotten for me. It's a shame too. With the right attention and management it could have worked. But it was double the workload for Creative and no one wanted to write the matches essentially.

The idea wasn't terrible, there just wasn't enough air time or Creative members to make it work.
