The Greatest Matches That We Never Got to See

DX(HBK and HHH)vs Legacy,I mean,COME ON.Who DOESN'T want to see DiBiase or Rhode's face up Orton's ass? may happen sooner then later hint, hint summerslam

I was thinking and i thought of a couple more dream matches and this is what i've come up with which so far no one else has

Ultimate Warrior Vs Brock Lesnar Two Big Muscle men goin at each other and a true test foe for Brock Lesnar

Big Van Vader vs Taz

Andre the Giant vs Brock Lesnar

Big Van Vader vs Brock lesnar

I don't think this one has been mentioned yet. How about the match we were supposed to see but never had a chance. Austin vs. Lesnar. Due to the Stone Cold "walk out", we were deprived of a huge Raw main event.

Greatest Possible Matches and why...............

2. Sting / Stone Cold - im surprised no one has said this. Well you basically have WCW top draw and the "WWF" top draw when the Monday Night Wars were really harsh. There both legends in their own right and pitting these two guys who create a legendary match.

Not to be too technical, but Sting vs Steve Austin has happened. Sting defeated Stunning Steve Austin in 1991. This was in the finals of the US Heavyweight Title Tournament when Lex Luger vacated the title following his first world championship.

I know this was a small event at the Omni in Atlanta and definiately not a headline at a PPV. It would have been great to see the Stinger vs the Texas Rattlesnake but we have to settle for what we got.

I would have loved to see the warrior Jake the snake fued. The matches would have been crap as the warrior would have been invovled. but the build up would have been first class!

Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call a match great or the greatest just because we haven’t seen them. Take Randy Savage vs. Shawn Michaels in 1992 for example. I never even knew they had a match until I bought the Savage DVD and it’s a match I would have expected to be great considering the 2 wrestlers in the match. Oh boy, I was completely wrong. The match wasn’t particularly bad; it just didn’t exceed my expectations. For a match like that I and probably other people would expect for it to be great, but it wasn’t. I think a title such as “Matches That Could Have Been Great If They Happened” would be more fitting for this thread since matches we haven’t seen aren’t going to be necessarily great. But I digress. I’m going to choose 2 matches that could have maybe been great if they had happened and from that you could probably tell there would be other matches I would think might be great if they happened or will happen in the future.

"The Immortal” Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin - This would be a match of epic proportions. If you have two of the biggest superstars ever in the history of the WWE and pro-wrestling in the same ring then you know magic is bound to happen. I don’t care if people would say the in-ring would be horrible because that’s not what this match would be about. It would be about the fact that you have 2 huge draws and superstars facing each other. And even if the in-ring work was horrible, I still would have probably loved every second of this match had it ever happened and ate it up completely. Like I said, this match would have been a match of epic proportions considering the two wrestlers you had in there. I wouldn't have cared who would have won if this match happened because it was ultimately a lot of fans wet dream.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. Mr. Perfect – Here you have 2 great wrestlers who never wrestled each other from what we know. They were both great talents and I think they could have been able to put on a great match. It’s such a shame that this match never happened because it probably would have been great. I would have loved to see it, even if it was many years later after it happened since I wasn’t born during the time it could have possibly happened. It really would have probably been great considering the two very talented wrestlers involved in the match, but I guess you never really know if a match can be great or if it can be horrible unless you see it happen. Just take my example of Randy Savage vs. Shawn Michaels, a match most people would have high expectations for and a match people would think might have been great, but it really wasn't. It was a good match but nothing you would have expected. I guess the same could be said about a Randy Savage vs. Mr. Perfect match had it ever happened, but we will never know if it did unless there's video footage of it.

EDIT: For the Randy Savage vs. Mr. Perfect match, I meant in the WWF when Curt Hennig played the Mr. Perfect gimmick.

You weren't born in 91 Savagetaker?

I bet Savage v.s Perfect happened some time in their careers. Anyone know for sure? I was alive during the time period that it could have happend, but can't remember if it did, but i'm pretty sure when i was like 7 they were in the main event of a house show I went to where it was warrior and savage v.s perfect and someone else. Did Savage ever wrestle Henning in wcw?

Randy Savage and Mr. Perfect/Curt Hennig did in fact wrestle each other, though to the best of my knowledge never in the WWF. They wrestled on the 8/11/97 edition of Nitro though. In fact I found it online, not much considering it's a TV match though.

Randy Savage vs. Curt Hennig -- WCW Monday Nitro -- 8/11/97

As for the greatest matches we never got to see...it has to be the Hogan-Flair match that was initially planned for Wrestlemania 8. If it weren't for the whole steroid trial fiasco we could have seen what would have to be considered the biggest dream match up of all time up to that point. The greatest WWF wrestler of all time versus the greatest NWA wrestler of all time; it would have been quite the match to say the least. Instead we were left with the abomination that was Hulk vs. Sid as a main event and the total train-wreck of a match that was.

Taz vs. Brock Lesnar - This is probably my biggest dream match out there. I loved both these guys, and I just believe their styles would've mesh so fucking well together in the ring. I mean, to see these two just throw each other round, dropping each other on their heads.... God it would've been epic. If you ever watch Taz from 1996 up 'til he debuted in WWE, he was one bad motherfucker, and in my opinion, even though he was so small, he was still the most intimidating wrestler in the history of the business. That is, until Brock Lesnar came along, and I don't need to explain to you all how he's such a bad motherfucker, as I'm sure 90% on this board have been watching long enough to have witnessed his run in WWE. But it's not just they were both intimidating, but both were really great workers too and had some of the most bad ass maneuvers professional wrestling history. Seriously, if I could ever see one more match in my lifetime and I could choose what it would be, I promise it'd be 1998 Taz vs. 2003 Brock Lesnar.

Raven vs. Cactus Jack - I've always been upset at the fact these two didn't get to meet back in 1995 because I just know it would've been one of the greatest matches in ECW history. Both these individuals are just unbelievably talented wrestlers, and in my opinion, the greatest ever at the "hardcore" element in pro wrestling. I think you put these two in a ring, with no rules, and you'll end up with the greatest 'hardcore' match that has ever taken place, and a tremendous story as well. The build up promos alone would be worth the match, but the great thing about these guys is that they don't just deliver on the mic, but they also deliver in the ring and make sure all the hype gets lived up to. And with these two guys' promo ability, there always A LOT of hype going into each of their matches, and they ALWAYS met expectations, which is why I so badly wanted to see a program between these two. When I say Brock Lesnar vs. Taz is my ultimate dream match, well... Raven vs. Cactus Jack would be my ultimate wrestling program/storyline/angle/whatever you want to call it. It would have been fantastic. It really sucks Cactus signed with WWE before it happened.

Chris Benoit vs. CM Punk - I was so fucking excited for this match. That entire pay-per-view, if I remember correctly, was a gigantic pile of shit, but I didn't care because I just knew Benoit vs. Punk was going to be epic. When it turned out not to happen, I was so disappointed. And then of course, the other news came out and while me being disappointed in this match never happening is no where near as bad as what transpired that weekend, in retrospect, I can still say that Benoit dying kept us from seeing some great shit from him in the ring. I mean, the program with Punk would've been awesome, and then there was the possibility of him leaving WWE once his contract was up, and if that were to happen, then shit like Danielson vs. Benoit could have gone done, or we could have saw Benoit vs. AJ Styles and the other big names in TNA. I will say though that if Kurt Angle comes back to WWE when it's all said and done and ends up having a couple of matches with Punk, then that'll make up for it. I'd also love to see Angle vs. Jeff Hardy sometime in the future.

Wow, there are so many matches I'd be interested in seeing. Just to name a few in no particular order:

1. Eddie Guerrero vs Shawn Michaels vs Ricky Steamboat in a triple threat or either of the 3 one-on-one

2. Evan Bourne vs Owen Hart

3. The Hardys vs Midnight Rockers

4. The Hardys vs the Rock and Roll Express

5. Dean Malenko vs Curt Hennig

6. Kurt Angle vs Dean Malenko

7. Harlem Heat vs Doom

8. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard vs Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko

9. Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle

10. Ric Flair (in his prime as the challenger) vs Triple H for the World title-Flair as stepped it up more when he was chasing the belt
