However, I believe we have learned from those mistakes you mentioned and have recognised that two people who work well together don't necessarily have to be a team. Barbosa and yourself spent a lot of time in singles competition; Tastic & Stormrage usually do their own thing and stables like the Elite have members going on their own warpath. So we can have alliances and stables as well as tag teams with all of them having their own definition.
Personally, if you register yourself as a tag team, then what you have told me is that your priorities lie in the tag team division so my priorities would be to involve you with the tag division over any other division. If you want to be an alliance, you will be singles and occasionally work as a team, putting you in the tag team division if necessary. Stables are a mixed bag: are you a team with multiple people (Cerberus) or a group of allies (Elite). Whichever one you are depends on where I would stick you on the card... but that doesn't mean I personally would not object to doing something similiar to what TNA did with The Wolves and put them in a singles title match whilst still tag champions, but I would prefer a tag title program myself.
This is a difficult subject to define since there are other discussions I have yet to touch.
I deleted the first part of your post because I totally agree, when the division is lacking those in it must accept that that is where they are needed, and while I was getting ready for a singles run and a feud with Fallout, that didn't work out and the fact is me and Red Skull have chemistry, we are instantly a legit team and with the drop outs leading up to Kingdom Come it was almost like it was meant to be, Cerberus needed challengers and now they have them.
As to the second part, I am glad you said that and I hope more people see it because frankly, we need more teams even if they only last a couple of cycles. I will say the build up to Lethal Lottery last year was great and the four way tag match was pretty epic, should there come a time when the division is stacked it would be fun again, but when the division is stacked, champions have challengers then it can't hurt to send tag guys off on their own, even if its only for a cycle or two... I am not saying its never happened before, but trying to search for throwaway tag matches for teams when there could be more compelling single programs is an easy trap to fall into, as I know from experience.
To be fair Alhazred was on a massive roll following KC was on the path to some singles title but left for personal reasons. Same with Rush and Smith and Vega. I'm not saying it's their fault but whenever creative is about to push someone they leave. Should they have pushed them sooner? Maybe but there's a lot of factors. Fact is it's a thing of timing not blaming them for keeping the tag division active.
I'm happy to be apart of what's been keeping it alive all year.
I am not blaming the tag division for holding back on singles pushes, its a stigma I'd like to help remove, Rush, Smith and perhaps Vega burnt out because they crushed all the opposition trying to get their mid-card titles, something that is well established, and myself, Barbosa and Saboteur came out of the division almost straight into the main event, Barbosa won the title, Saboteur left and I was in a number 1 contenders match before real life hit me with a bombshell.
Its a stigma I'd like to remove, its one of the best divisions to get yourself into.
