Week 2
TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts
An intro comes on, and the camera cuts to Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler ringside.
Ross: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I’m Jim Ross, and alongside Jerry “The King” Lawler and this is Monday Night Raw!
Lawler: That’s right JR, and tonight, Stone Cold Steve Austin, our general manager will step inside the middle of the ring, and speak.
Ross: Also tonight, we will have one of the number one contenders Goldberg take on Randy Orton in our main event. We will also have the new Intercontinental Champion Justin Gabriel taking on Tyler Reks, and as well as Show-Miz vs. Edge and Christian to have the right to face Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero for the unified tag team championships at Backlash.
**This Fire Burns**
Punk walks down the ramp with a very angry face on him, as he steps into the ring, he grabs a microphone.
Punk: Now, this has been an up and down week for me. On the upside, I was one of the two winners in the battle royal last week, and I’ll be main eventing Backlash. **crowd boos** On the downside, I’ll be facing Goldberg **crowd cheers loudly** and another downside is that Goldberg did this to me last week.
The titantron shows Goldberg spearing Punk from last week to a huge pop from the crowd.
Punk: Goldberg, now that **crowd chants Gold-Berg, Gold-Berg, Gold-Berg, Gold-Berg** shut up! **Crowd chants some more** Now, as I was saying, Goldberg now that you have a match with Randy Orton tonight, and I don’t have a match tonight, I suggest……
**I Won’t Do What You Tell Me**
Stone Cold comes out in his trademark ATV, riding around the ring to a HUGE POP from the crowd, he grabs a mic before entering the ring.
Austin: So your main eventing Backlash. **WHAT!** I didn’t come out here to talk about that though. **WHAT!** I came here to talk about two things. **WHAT!!** One is that you don’t the night off tonight son, **WHAT!** tonight you will be facing off against Sin Cara, and that match will be next, but after I’m done talking. **A mix of WHAT! Along with cheers** Another thing I came out here to talk about is the hardcore championship, something that Teddy Long and I are bringing back, and at Backlash, we are going to have a fatal-4-way hardcore match to find out who will claim the vacant title **WHAT! Cheers** Now, even someone as stubborn as Teddy Long agreed with me that Sabu and Sandman are two of the nastiest sons of bitches this industry has ever seen! **WHAT!** We each said that Sabu and Sandman will automatically be in that match, and the other two competitors will be figured out tonight, and this Friday on Smackdown. **WHAT!** Tonight, it will be Smackdown’s Tommy Dreamer **WHAT!** Taking on Raw’s Snitsky **WHAT!**
Punk: What?
Austin: WHAT! **WHAT!** You heard me, now let’s get Sin Cara, and a damn referee out here, and let’s start this match.
Punk: What? **WHAT!** Shut up! **WHAT!**
Punk is now enraged as Sin Cara’s music hits.
**Ancient Spirit**
Cara comes down, and does his trademark entrance, as he gets into the ring, and points at his opponent, CM Punk.
Ross: What a huge announcement by Austin, he is taking over Raw, and bringing back the hardcore division, and its crowned prize, the hardcore title!
Austin gets a few beers, and leaves on his ATV; smiling and laughing.
Match 1
Singles Match
CM Punk vs. Sin Cara
The bell rings, and Punk takes his shirt off, and locks up with Cara. Punk gets a headlock on the masked Mexican man, but Cara bounces off the ropes, and is nailed with a spinning wheel kick from Punk. When Punk attempts to Pick him up, Sin Cara hits a reverse up-kick to Punk, causing him to scramble back into a corner, Cara than pounces on him and hits 10 punches on the ropes, with the crowd counting at every one. Cara turns around and plays with the fans, but Punk re-controls himself, and starts punching and elbowing the former luchador. Punk then whips Cara into the corner, and hits a flying knee followed by a bulldog. Punk goes running for the cover, but only gets 2.
Ross: Will one of the number one contenders for the WWE title CM Punk get the win here, or will Sin Cara be able to pull off the upset? We’ll find out next.
Lawler: O, I can’t wait JR, just like I can’t wait for our main event between Goldberg and Randy Orton later tonight, let’s go.
**Commercial Break**
We come back with CM Punk locking in a single leg Boston Crab on Sin Cara, but after a while, (and a little help from the crowd) Sin Cara is able to escape the hold, only to meet a head kick from Punk. Punks covers Cara, but only gets two. After some more back and forth action, including some great kicks from the two men, Sin Cara bounces off of the ropes, looking for a cross-body, or take down of some sort, but is caught by CM Punk, and Punk hits a GTS for the 1, 2, 3.
Winner: CM Punk (5:55).
Punk hardly celebrates the win, but instead calls for a mic.
Punk: You see Austin, I can beat ANYONE that you put in front of me, I'm out, see you all next week in even more of a trash city than Boston, Memphis.
Punks leaves. **crowd gives him (Punk) major heat.**
**Commercial Break**
The show comes back on, and Alberto Del Rio’s music hits.
**Realeza**
Del Rio comes out in a 2006 Bugatti Veyron worth 1,400,000$.
Lawler: You know JR, I think that’s one of the most expensive cars Alberto Del Rio has ever come out with.
Ross: I agree with you king, over 1 million dollars that car is worth.
Del Rio enters the ring, and grabs a mic, while carefully handing over his white scarf to Ricardo Rodriguez.
Del Rio: Hola! Como estas? My name, my name is Albertooooooo Del Rioooooo, but you all already knew that! Now tonight, tonight I am facing off against John Cena in a one on one match. Now John Cena, I came out to tell you, that you have no chance tonight. I came out to say that after Backlash, no matter if it’s Goldberg or CM Punk who wins that championship match, I will be the number one contender, it’s my destiny.
**The Time is Now**
Cena comes out all fired up, and salutes the crowd on his way into the ring. As he gets into the ring, with a mic in his hand, he smiles.
Cena: You know Pablo, or Juan, or whatever your name is, **crowd pops** you said a couple bold statements there, and they’re statements that I don’t agree with, or appreciate.
Del Rio: John, listen I am going to take you out tonight, I am going to make you tap out, and also my name is Alberto Del Rioooooooo.
Cena: Your name is Paco Alvarez?
Del Rio: Alberto Del Rioooooooo!
Cena: Diego De Alamo?
Del Rio: Alberto Del Rio.
Cena: O, Alberto Del Rioooooooooooo never heard of him.
**Voices**
Randy Orton comes out with a sly look on his face, as the crowd boo’s him. He enters the ring with the mic, and starts to stare down Cena, with Cena returning the staring right back.
Orton: John Cena, last week in the battle royal, if it wasn’t for Goldberg, you would be in a hospital with a concussion because of me John. That almost happened, and you escaped, but don’t feel too lucky…..
Cena: Okay Randy, we’ve done this before, the thing is, no matter whether you like it or not, I’m better than you, and don’t use Goldberg as an excuse Randy, you didn’t punt me, because I didn’t let you. I never will let you punt me!
Orton: Cena, I suggest you watch what I do to Goldberg tonight, because at Backlash, I want you in this ring, one on one.
Orton attempts to walk out of the ring, but ADR taps on his shoulder, and Randy turns around.
Del Rio: Wait, John Cena is mine; I am going to take him out tonight, so that he can’t make it to Backlash.
Del Rio walks up to Cena, and points to his face.
Del Rio: I will see you later, you poser. **crowd boo’s loudly**
As Del Rio turns around to exit the ring, he eats an RKO from Randy Orton; Cena then pounces on Orton; hitting him and punching him like we’ve never seen before Cena whips Orton off the ropes, but Orton stops and slides out of the ring. Cena then shouts at Randy to come back into the ring. Cena then picks up the microphone that ADR was using.
Cena: Del Rio, I’ll see you later tonight, and then and only then Randy Orton, will I consider your offer for Backlash.
Cena then taunts to the crowd, who’s giving him huge pops, Cena talks to some of the kids ringside, as we go back to The King and JR.
Ross: There is definitely some major heat between those three in there. Wouldn’t you say King?
Lawler: I agree with you JR, there is so much tension between those three, with Cena and Del Rio facing off tonight and possibly Orton and Cena at Backlash, but we’re not 100% yet I guess JR.
JR: I agree King, you should be proud of yourself for that point you just made King.
Lawler: Okay then, I am proud of myself, anyway, up next we will have Edge and Christian take on Show-Miz to see who will face Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero for the tag team championships at Backlash.
We cut backstage to Edge and Christian in their locker room; getting ready for their match.
Edge: Hey man, why did you leave me out there to get con-chair-toed last week? What's up with that?
Christian: Well, I didn’t want both of us at below 100% for our match this week. You see, just basically call it "taking one for the team".
Edge: C’mon Christian, taking one for the team my ass, there’s got to be something else.
Christian: No man, listen this is important really. When was the last time we won the tag titles? Huh. A really long time ago. 2001, it was 2001 when we won our last tag team titles, and since then, we haven’t been the same. This is our chance bro, even if it means you eating a con-chair-to for the sake of us being healthier as a team, then that’s just a risk that we’ll have to take.
Edge: I get you, really I do really get you, c’mon let’s go out and beat these punks.
They touch fists, and after the knuckle touch Christian finishes getting ready, and they just walk out.
An ad for The Boogeyman on Raw comes up, we’ll see him live next week.
**Commercial Break**
We come back to zoom in on JR and The King.
JR: It is now time for Edge and Christian to take on Show-Miz to see who will face Mysterio and Guerrero for the tag-team titles at Backlash.
Lawler: There is some bad blood going on between these two, now let’s get to the match.
**You Think You Know Me**
Edge and Christian come out looking confident, they tell the crowd that it’s their time.
Ross: Remember last week on Raw, after E&C beat Tyler Reks and The Miz by DQ after Big Show interfered, Reks, Miz, and Show gave Edge a con-chair-to, after Big Show knocked him out with his punch..
Lawler: You have got to wonder what type of condition Edge is in after that attack last week, and whether Christian was telling the truth were he said it was just “taking one for the team” as he said earlier tonight JR.
Ross: He’s telling the truth, he has to be.
**Crank It Up**
Show-Miz come out pointing at E&C, as E&C start making fun of Big Show’s weight.
Match 2
Tag Team Match: Winner gets a shot at the vacant titles at Backlash.
Edge and Christian vs. Show-Miz
The bell rings, and we’re under way, Big Show and Christian start it off, but Christian tags in Edge, Edge then immediately returns the favor by tagging back in Christian. Christian then tags in Edge again, but Edge doesn’t stand for it as he tags back in Christian; Big Show is now very tired of this and hits a double clothesline on them. He then brings Christian to a corner, and hits 3 chops on him, before bouncing off the ropes, and clotheslining Edge out of the ring.
JR: There seems to be some miscommunication between Edge and Christian right now, we’ll see if they can clear it up after this commercial break.
**Commercial Break**
We come back with The Miz now in the ring, beating up on Edge in the corner. We get a highlight video of Big Show tagging Miz in during the commercial break. Miz than fake whips Edge into his corner, and then back into his corner, with Edge hitting the turnbuckle chest first. Miz tags in Big Show, who hits big forearm shots to Edge’s back, causing Edge to curl up in pain. Big Show than whips Edge into the ropes, but Edge ducks under the Big Show’s attempt of a big boot, only to eat a head butt to the chest on the way back.
JR: Edge is taking a huge beating here in this match, he desperately needs to tag in his partner Christian.
Lawler: It’s not looking good for E&C right now JR, you also have to take in effect Edge’s injury sustained last week.
Big Show than tags in Miz, who hits a forearm shot to Edge’s neck (while Edge was still on the ground). Miz than gets a chin lock on Edge, bringing him to the ground for a little while. Edge is trying to get the crowd into it from inside of the ring, as well as Christian from the ring apron, Edge escapes the chin lock, and is able to hit an inverted DDT on The Miz; cover, 1, 2, no! Miz got up at 2, Edge runs towards his corner, and pounces, and is able to tag in Christian, while Christian stops Miz from tagging in Big Show, Christian hits a couple of right hands followed by a poke in the eye. While the ref goes over to warn Christian, Edge gets off of the apron, and sprints towards the other corner, and hits a low blow on Big Show, causing the giant to fall off the apron. When Miz goes over to check on them, Christian sends Miz over the tope rope, with Christian following him, with a suicide dive through the ropes.
Ross: The action is getting taken to the outside.
Lawler: What a suicide dive by Christian, that was very impressive!
All four of them start brawling on the outside with Christian and Miz still being the legal men as the ref starts counting.
**1!!!!**
Edge and Big Show start brawling on the entrance ramp, as Christian whips Miz into the apron, followed by a low blow by Miz, and then Miz returns the favor, and whips Christian into the apron, followed by more shots by Miz.
**2!!!!**
Edge and Big Show are now up by the titantron, and Christian now hits Miz with a low blow, followed by and attempted whip into the pole, which was reversed by Miz; whipping Christian into the pole.
**3!!!!**
Big Show whips Edge into the bottom of the titantron screen. Miz and Christian keep battling over to the announce table, with Miz grabbing Christian’s neck.
**4!!!!**
Miz then smashes Christian’s head against the announce table.
Ross: The action is now coming right in front of us.
Lawler: Oh, and there goes Christian’s head, off of our announce table.
Big Show than picks up Edge on the other side of the arena, and headbutts him.
**5!!!!**
Ross: These teams have got to be careful, or else they’ll be counted out.
Lawler: I really do wonder what would happen if they both get counted out, that would be something.
Show then throws Edge into the bottom of the titantron.
Christian is able to break free from Miz, and pick up a lead pipe, and take a swing at Miz, but miss.
**6!!!!**
Miz kicks Christian in the abdomen, and then drives him head first into the bottom of the announce table.
Show picks up Edge and brings him to the edge of the entrance ramp, looking over some tables, and electrical equipment.
**7!!!!**
Miz goes over to take a chair, and tries to hit Christian in the back with it, but Christian moves out and hits a non-running spear on Miz.
Big Show sets up for a choke slam on Edge down the entrance ramp, and grabs his (Edge’s) throat.
**8!!!!**
Christian looks for his lead pipe, and picks it up, while Miz slowly gets up and looks for his chair, finds it, and picks it up.
Big Show attempts to lift up Edge, but Edge spits in his (Big Show’s) face, and get out; Edge than slaps Big Show across the face.
**9!!!!**
Miz and Christian both swing their respective objects at each other’s head, they both connect, and Miz is unconscious on the outside, and Christian is knocked down, but he is also trying to get back to his feet.
Back to Big Show and Edge, Big Show starts running, and tackles Edge down to the tables and equipment that stand down there below, bringing his body down in the process. **crowd is roaring**
**10!!!!**
Winner: Double count-out (7:56).
Christian starts to stand up, as he realizes that the other 3 men are all laid out unconscious all around the arena. Christian goes over, and grabs the referee; asking who wins. The referee said no one, and Christian shoves him down, and he starts pacing all around the ring. He keeps pacing until…..
**I Won’t Do What You Tell Me**
Christian waits for Austin to come out, but he doesn’t come down to the ring, he comes up on the titantron.
Austin: Christian, you just fought your fucking ass off out there, **what** but you didn’t win, **mixture of boos and what from the crowd** yet they didn’t win either. **mixture of pops and what from the crowd** I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, so at Backlash, it will be Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero vs. Show-Miz vs. Edge and Christian **crowd pops** in a……… in a………. in a………. triple threat tag team match for the unified tag team titles. **WHAT!!!!!!!!**
**I Won’t Do What You Tell Me**
Ross: Austin…......Austin…….Austin…….he just made a huge announcement!
Lawler: That he did JR, our general manager is on a role tonight.
Ross: Now let’s send it backstage with Eve speaking with one of the men that will definitely be wrestling for the vacant Hardcore Title at Backlash.
Eve Torres: Hello everybody, I’m here with….The Sandman! Now, Sandman, what do you think of Stone Cold Steve Austin bringing back the hardcore division, along with its title?
Sandman is smiling very wide, and has his signature kendo stick in hand.
The Sandman: I feel great Eve, I feel that great in fact that I can do this…….
Sandman than walks over to a random guy backstage, turns him around, and clocks him in the head with his kendo stick.
Sandman: You know Eve, that just made me feel even better, so I’ll do this……
Sandman finds another backstage worker, and hits him in the face.
Sandman: Alright I’ll hold up for now baby Eve, so what’s your next question?
Eve: Alright, so how do you feel with getting reunited with your old ECW originals like Sabu and Tommy Dreamer?
Sandman: Hang on babe, o hahahaha……
Sandman sees Joey Mercury walking backstage, and hits him in the abdomen with the kendo stick, and than the back of the head, and than when Mercury falls on his butt on the ground; he hits him in the upper part of the chest with the kendo stick.
Sandman: Sweaty, I feel great, in fact, I’m just going to keep doing this.
Sandman starts to walk around backstage just hitting random things with his kendo stick and laughing, the camera turns back to Eve who gives everybody a clueless look, and raises up her shoulders in question.
**Commercial Break**
The show comes back on and Tyler Reks’ music hits.
**Tyrannosaurus**
Tyler Reks comes down to the ring, and has a dead blank stare at the center of the ring. He enters the ring, and walks over to the other side to get a mic.
Reks: I have a lot to say, but I can wait.
Ross: What does he mean by that?
Lawler: Honestly JR, I really don’t know, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
**Black Or White**
Match 3
Singles Match
Justin Gabriel vs. Tyler Reks
Justin Gabriel comes out to a huge pop, with his Intercontinental Title around his waist, as he starts to high five fans on his way down to the ring. He enters the ring, and hands his belt over to the referee.
The bell rings, and we’re underway, Reks uses his power to back Gabriel into a corner, and then whips him across the ring, causing Gabriel to fall; sitting in front of the turnbuckles. Reks than goes over and hits Gabriel with repeated knees, and than goes for the cover, only getting 2. Reks gets up and then picks Gabriel up, only for Gabriel to kick him in the chest, and bounce off the ropes to hit a running bulldog. Gabriel waits for Reks to get up and hits a missile dropkick on Reks. Gabriel goes for the cover, 1, 2, no! Reks got a shoulder up, just in time. Gabriel runs towards the ropes, and attempts to hit a springboard cross body, but Reks catches him, picks him up into a torture rack, and attempts to hit a burning hammer, but Gabriel escapes it, and hits a sitout rear mat slam.
Gabriel than goes to the top rope, but instead of going for his 450 splash, which he definitely could have went for, he waits for Tyler Reks to get up, and hits a missile dropkick, which sends Reks right back down to the mat.
Ross: It’s not like that the missile dropkick wasn’t impressive or anything, but I’m wondering why Justin Gabriel didn’t go for his 450 splash, it just puzzles me.
Lawler: I agree JR, this could wind up to either help him a lot, or hurt him a lot as this match goes on.
Ross: You see King, there’s just one problem with Gabriel, and it’s that he’s very inexperienced. Once he becomes more mature in his in ring game, then and only then will we see this Justin Gabriel hit his full potential right on the top of the head.
We come back to see that Gabriel doesn’t go for the cover, but instead he walks out onto the apron, and goes for a slingshot senton, only for Reks to put his knees up. Reks than picks him up, and hits an Olympic Slam, a move very commonly used by Kurt Angle.
Ross: Reks looks like he got influenced by someone who we are very familiar with, eh Lawler?
Lawler: That someone was a former world champion here, you’re definitely right that he has some influence on this young gun Reks.
Reks keeps on pounding on Gabriel, until he sits him up in the middle of the ring, bounces off the ropes, and hits a running right knee, right on Gabriel’s nose. As we see, Gabriel has a very small cut on his nose, as Reks goes for the cover and hooks the right leg of Gabriel, 1, 2, no! Gabriel just barely kicked out. Reks is now very ticked off; steaming in anger. **crowd chants for Gabriel, and then teases Reks by saying chillllllllll out, chilllllllll out** Reks then goes to the top, and goes for a moonsault, but Gabriel back out! **crowd pops loud** Gabriel than gets back up and hits 5 leg kicks on Reks (4 on the right leg and 1 on the left. Gabriel then bounces off the ropes, and hits a smashing elbow, followed by a standing front flip senton, but only for a count of 2. Gabriel then picks him up, and both of them slug it out, before Gabriel hits a superkick which knocks the big guy down. Gabriel then hits a springboard moonsault, and gives the fans the sign that it’s time for the 450 splash. **Crowd pops loud**
Ross: It might be time for Gabriel to hit one of the most spectacular moves the I have ever seen in all of my years of wrestling.
Lawler: He’s climbing up there JR, here it comes!
Gabriel indeed does climb the turnbuckle, but as he jumps off, and flips, Reks moves out of the way, and just as Gabriel lands, and stands back up, here comes Reks, bouncing off the ropes, and hitting a big boot! Cover, 1, 2, 3, and this match is over!
Winner: Tyler Reks (9:33).
Reks than spits right next to Gabriel, and yelling at the crowd, saying “I told you so,” and “Here it comes.” Reks than goes and picks up a mic from outside of the ring, and climbs the apron, only deciding to go back to the floor, and walk toward the entrance way as he starts talking.
Reks: I told you so, Gabriel! Gabriel! Gabriel, I want you at Backlash, but not just for bragging rights, which I already have, but for that Intercontinental Title of yours, that will soon be mine. Well, anyway, whatever you say won’t matter, because I already brought it up with Stone Cold Steve Austin, and he agreed. See you soon buddy!
Gabriel gets up, and is handed the Intercontinental Title, as he walks towards the ropes, and raises it up high. **Crowd pops for Gabriel, and gives Reks some major heat.**
**Commercial Break**
We come back, and both Dreamer and Snitsky are in the ring, and ready to hurt each other. Dreamer brought a shopping cart with all types of weapons to the ring, including a lamp.
Match 5
Singles match: Hardcore rules, winner is in the fatal-4- way at Backlash for the Hardcore Title
Tommy Dreamer vs. Snitsky
The bell rings and we’re underway, Dreamer goes up and starts striking Snitsky with all kinds of shots, but Snitsky fights back with a clothesline. Snitsky exits the ring, and goes over to the shopping cart full of goodies, and takes out a few objects, and throws them into the ring.
Ross: This is going to be one true rough match.
Lawler: Look at all the goods in the ring, I know Tommy Dreamer has a lot more experience with these kinds of things, but look at Snitsky. He’s so powerful, and he’s a maniac.
When Snitsky climbs back in, Dreamer picks up the lamps, and shoves it at Snitsky’s throat causing the big man to go down. Dreamer then starts choking Snitsky, until he finally gets up, and goes over to grab the top of a trash can. As he starts walking over towards Snitsky, Snitsky is able to lift his leg up, and give a miniature big boot to Dreamer; the lid smashing against Dreamer’s skull. Snitsky goes for the cover, but Dreamer is able to find it in him to kick up at 2. Snitsky then goes over and positions a trash can (side down) near the middle of the ring. Snitsky picks Dreamer up, and whips him into the corner, and hits a big splash, and followed by a bulldog onto the trash can! Snitsky goes for the cover, but Dreamer gets up at 1.
Ross: Wow, what heart shown by Dreamer, we’ll see more of it up next.
Lawler: Yes JR, we need to go to a commercial break, but we’ll be back right after this.
**Commercial Break**
We come back with Snitsky holding a kendo stick, and Tommy Dreamer (still standing) is in a ball in the corner. Snitsky keeps repentantly hitting Dreamer with it. Snitsky goes for the cover, but only gets 2. Snitsky then picks a barbed-wire 2X4, and attempts to hit Dreamer with one, and then Snitsky drops it, and as he does that, he sees The Sandman walking down the ring, with nothing but a can of beer in each of his hands. Snitsky looks shocked, and he turns around to see the bloodied Dreamer hits a DDT to Snitsky onto the barbed wire. Snitsky’s face is pouring with blood everywhere, as Dreamer goes for the cover, 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Tommy Dreamer (6:34).
Sandman climbs into the ring, and gives Dreamer one of his partly drunken cans of beer, and hands it over to Dreamer, and they toast, but not without Sandman saying that he wants the title; that he’s coming for the title.
JR: We now have 3of our 4 participants, and we’ll find out the last competitor this Friday Night on Smackdown.
Lawler: That’s right JR, but up next, we will have Alberto Del Rio take on John Cena.
**Commercial Break**
We come back with the Smackdown Rebound.
Quick highlights of all of the tournament matches, and mainly spotlighting John Morrison, and how he will take on Kane next week on Smackdown for the world title.
**Realeza**
Alberto Del Rio comes out in the same car as before, and with Ricardo Rodriguez introducing his name, and when Del Rio gets into the ring, he hands Ricardo his scarf, and waits for his opponent, John Cena.
**The Time Is Now**
Match 6
Singles Match
John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio
John Cena comes out looking fired up, and he salutes the crowd on his way into the ring. Cena slides into the ring, and gives his dog tag to the referee, and these two are ready to brawl it out.
The bell rings, and these two lock up, with ADR getting in a side chinlock, only for Cena to quickly reverse it by sending him off of the ropes, only for ADR to meet a shoulder block by Cena. Cena picks him up, but ADR hits a sitout jawbreaker, followed by a kick to the gut, and ADR bounces off the ropes, and hits a running face slam causing Cena to bounce off the ring. Del Rio goes for the cover, but only gets 2, and Cena gets up and starts slugging it out with him, Cena whips ADR, followed by ADR going for a clothesline, only for Cena to duck, as both of them bounce off the ropes again, only for Cena to hit a clothesline. Del Rio goes down, but quickly gets back up, as Cena lifts him up; going for the Attitude Adjustment, only for Del Rio to get out, and bolt out of the ring.
Ross: What a nice; fast moving pace going on here in this match, hopefully we can get you this match with any [commercial] interruptions.
Lawler: There’s nothing that I like more than a quickly paced match, you know that JR?
JR: As a matter of fact King, I do; working with you for all of these years really led me out to a lot of normal and weird clues and stuff about you.
ADR gets back into the ring at 3, and the action doesn’t stop, as the two keep on trading shots back and forth. Del Rio is able to gain the upper hand by stretching out Cena arm. Eventually, after Cena whipped ADR into the corner, and went for his running bulldog, ADR somehow dodge it, and Cena went flying, ADR then hit a dropkick, followed by a cross-armbreaker by ADR, but after a little while, Cena manages to escape, and hit some shot on ADR, only for Del Rio to counter with a DDT, and go for a cover. Cena manages to get up at 2, and Del Rio is furious! Del Rio picks Cena up, but is hit with punches, and eventually Cena is able to knock him down with a powerslam.
Ross: Here comes John Cena!
Cena then waits for ADR to get up, and hits his normal sitout power bomb followed by a 5 knuckle shuffle. Cena then locks in the STF, and just as it seemed Del Rio was about to tap out, Randy Orton appears on the titantron.
Orton: Well John, I felt that now was a right time to ask, have you taken up my offer yet?
Cena continues to have the STF locked in; he ignores Randy’s question.
Orton: Alright John, I guess I’ll have to ask you again, will you face me at Backlash?
The camera zooms out to Randy Orton with a baseball bat right next to John’s locker room.
Cena releases the hold, and goes over to the edge of the ring to say “I accept,” and “you’re on,” and when he’s about to turn around, ADR schoolboy’s John Cena for the 1, 2, 3!
Winner: Alberto Del Rio (9:04).
Ross: Del Rio did it, he beat Cena.
Del Rio quickly escapes the ring with Rodriguez, as Cena gets up, and tries to pursue after them, but they each drive off in ADR’s car. Cena goes back to the announce table area, and starts throwing things, and points towards the blank; black titantron, and then starts walking backstage.
Lawler: Cena seems really mad, not only to lose right near his hometown, but to get played out by Randy and Del Rio.
Ross: Mainly Randy though.
Lawler: Yeah, but still Alberto picked his time; he picked his prey, and pounced. Anyways, up next we have our main event between Goldberg and Randy Orton.
**Commercial Break**
We come back with Randy Orton’s music about to hit.
**Voices**
Orton comes out without the baseball bat that he had earlier, but he does walk out to the ring smiling.
**Invasion**
Goldberg comes out and does his traditional strikes promo, as he enters the ring, each of the men have a cold; dead stare on each other.
Lawler: Wow JR, what a stare down.
Ross: Hopefully the match will be even better.
Match 7
Singles Match
Goldberg vs. Randy Orton
The bell rings, and we’re under way with the two men exchanging strikes, until Goldberg eventually gains the upper advantage. Goldberg gets Randy into a corner, and starts hitting continuous shoulder blocks, followed by a running powerslam, but only for a count of 1.
JR: Goldberg’s looking good early on here; let’s see if he can keep it up, after this commercial break.
**Commercial Break**
We comeback from the commercial break with Randy hitting Goldberg all across the ring, and eventually hits his signature neck breaker. Orton goes for a pin, but Goldberg is able to throw Randy off of him at 2. Goldberg gets up, and lifts Randy up by the shoulders, and puts him on the second ropes, they exchange strikes again, and Goldberg climbs up the turnbuckles, and they trade strikes again. Orton is eventually able to push him off, and goes for a cross-body, only to be caught by Goldberg, and to be places back on the second rope by Goldberg.
Ross: Wow, what strength by this machine of a man, Goldberg.
Goldberg then climbs with Orton up to the top rope, and Goldberg hits a super-plex, which knocks both of them down. Goldberg gets up at a ref’s count of 5; Randy Orton at 8. Goldberg sets Randy up for a spear, but Randy dodges it, Randy then suddenly goes for a RKO, but Goldberg is able to push him off. Orton than runs into a fall away slam by Goldberg, and after that, Goldberg signals that it’s time for the jackhammer. Goldberg lifts Randy up, and connects with his signature finishing move, the jackhammer. Goldberg hooks Randy’s left leg, while Randy’s right leg is also in the air, and Goldberg gets a 3 count.
Winner: Goldberg (7:28).
Goldberg then celebrates the victory with throwing his hands up in the air, until CM Punk comes in the ring, and hits a GTS on Goldberg, and then stands above him.
Ross: After a great match put up by Goldberg, CM Punk shows up, and gets the last laugh of the night, but we will see you next week here on Monday Night Raw.
Lawler: Don’t miss it! We will be coming to you from my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. I can’t wait, be there.
The show closes with CM Punk still standing over Goldberg.
