Well, as an Irish person, this movie is an enthralling take on the harsh and severe troubles that we went through with Britain. It is a masterpiece into capturing the low quality life of the average Irish person, and then the shocking happenings from 1920 on. It captures all the emotion the Irish poured into the fight for independence, struggling to sneak behind British forces, “The Black and Tans”, to start a revolt. The acting is fantastic all round, which is amazing considering the limit of bog stars in the movie. The movie never ventured to far, since not many other countries would know about this time in Irish history. The movie also captures the fighting spirit of the Irish, and stupidity of not being happy with what they got, and wanting more, which led to more death. Fantastic movie. 5 stars.
