As of last night's SmackDown!, it looks as though the WWE is going to portray Kane & Bryan in a more conventional tag team light. During a brief backstage segment with Kofi Kingston in which Kofi was asking them to get along while they seemed to be hatefully staring at each other, Bryan put Kane over as a dominant force rather than insulting him and Kane put over Bryan as a submission specialist. During their six man tag match, their dysfunction that's been a common trait through their time as a team vanished.
In my opinion, I think it's really the only logical step they could go with Bryan & Kane. Their dysfunction has produced some genuinely funny moments and an interesting angle that's lasted for several months. I think they've gone as far as they can with the more comedic aspects and the comedy was starting to get a little stale. So going forward, it looks a though Bryan & Kane might be a cohesive unit rather than what we've seen.
This probably also means a full blown face turn for both wrestlers as well. They've mostly gotten a babyface response anyhow. It could mean that their time as tag champs is almost up, though I personally hope not. WWE could go the route of having ultimately lose their titles after starting to work together as a "real team" where they've been at each other's throats for months and have successfully defended the titles.
Kane & Bryan have shown to be an entertaining team with each wrestler bringing unique qualities to the table. I think the tag team scene, while far better than it's been in years, still needs them as the champs right now. Also, we've seen Bryan do quite well as a more comedic character, but I also like the idea of him getting back to something more serious while ultimately keeping the personality that's made him a star over the course of the past year.
Another interesting little thing was mentioned during the commentary of the six man tag match. Their beating at the hands of The Shield this past Monday was mentioned a couple of times by Josh Matthews & JBL during the match as a possible factor, which has me wondering if we're going to see a feud between Kane & Bryan and a couple of members of The Shield in the near future.
