Summerslam 2014 LD

Am I the only one who's just going to savor this before wondering who takes the title from Lesnar?

I'll be waiting until NoC is finished to truly savor it,tbh.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Cena was to win it back somehow at NoC in a rematch...though that would surely be BadforBusiness after what occured tonight.

Didn't read all the comments yet but what a disaster of a main event. Literally just about the worst thing WWE could have done.

Cena must not have enough pull as originally thought b/c I doubt he would want to get squashed in the ME of the 2nd biggest PPV of the year for the world title.

I'm having flashbacks to Spring 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sting was the WCW Champion but Vader showed up and just destroyed him. He beat Sting so bad that fans were crying in the audience, but the referee DQ'd Vader. They had a rematch where Vader beat him into a pulp to win the title at the 1992 Great American Bash. Then Sting had one more chance at Starrcade and made adjustments to beat Vader in a great match.

I see a similar story here, albeit not with Cena coming back for a rematch.

Thing is, provided he doesn't treat what happened as a joke...this squash could give Cena a new lease of life as a character going forward. Might even make him get some fans behind him again if he either looks more vulnerable or becomes a beast like he was claiming to become for SS on last RAW.

I honestly believe that people are wounded too tight when it comes to Cena jokes, but you are right in that this could provide a new spin on his character. Provided that he's still there of course b/c after that beating I think we've seen that last of John for a while.

If we don't get Brock vs Cena III at NoC, I would love to see Brock vs Batista. Batista really upped his approval ratings among wrestling fans with Guardians of the Galaxy.

That or the CM Punk return, Bryan returning early from injury, The Rock coming back, etc.

So essentially, we need guys who, other than Rock are less than John Cena and in Rock's case, a guy who never wrestles, to come back and do better than a squash? So if they don't come back, a bunch of squashes for PPV main events until Reigns inevitably becomes WWE champion at Mania.

I still would go with Ambrose though. WAY better story as Ambrose's crazy mind is just crazy enough to figure out how to beat a beast like Lesnar.

Since we're talking about future opponents for Brock, how about Kurt Angle? He has made Lesnar tap before. Maybe Survivor Series?

Will be interesting to see if he appears tomorrow night,tbh...

Besides Cena again and Batista(would be a great programme if it happens)...who else can keep Brock occupied going forward?

Cena being squashed tonight does not mean that every main event following will be a squash. It was only for tonight. Or did you miss the HHH and CM Punk matches against Lesnar?

Besides, how many main events will Brock have from here until Wrestlemania? Maybe 3, 4 at the most.

Here's the thing: Cena charged right at Lesnar and tried to beat him with power. He played right into Brock's game. Look at how Punk stayed in there with him: by waiting for his shot and sticking and moving. It can be done by a smart wrestler rather than someone who just charges at him.

That's the kind of speculation that'll make what actually transpires disappointing. For me, that'd be better than Punk. Their feud back in the day was superb.

I would love "IWC dream" and to see Brock smash Cena again at NoC, Cena go crazy and beats Brock after and Rollins cashes in. But in terms of reality this is how I see it: Cena overcomes the odds and wins at NoC, right after or next night at RAW Brock beats Cena to a pulp and Rollins cashes in...

If they dont plan on Cena leaving for a while or some huge name apearing and interfere cant see any other scenario right now...

Exactly. Cena didn't learn from his last bout with Lesnar. He got lucky with one shot at the end and it worked at Extreme Rules. Lesnar is Cena's kryptonite.

I suppose everyone else would have to "learn from Cena's mistakes" but honestly, who on the roster will get a shot? Sheamus? Also a power guy. Ambrose won't get one, Reigns not for a while, RVD? I mean the options are all guys not on a level with Cena so naturally even if they "learned", they'd do worse because if Lesnar gets a hand on them, they're done. It's not a good precedent and I think it's going to come off like the end of Punk's reign where you know he's not losing and it won't be interesting.

I'm guessing that at Survivor Series, Lesnar faces Ambrose (who gets the case off of Rollins) while Reigns gets Rollins. Then at Royal Rumble, Lesnar faces Batista while Reigns faces HHH. Then at WM31, Reigns becomes the 1 that beats the 1.
