Steve Austin Expected To Wrestle Final Match For WWE At WrestleMania 30 In 2014

Coming out of the SummerSlam weekend events in Los Angeles, word from sources is that Steve Austin will indeed be wrestling one more match with WWE but that match most likely will not take place at WrestleMania 29 in 2013.

Austin's final match isn't expected to happen until WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

The story is that Austin won't come back for anything but a WrestleMania main event. Those familiar with Austin's situation note that he's not physically or mentally ready for the match to take place next year.

It has to be with either Cena or Punk.

Cena vs Austin, it makes sense and cements Cena's legacy and again Cena will draw huge as will austin. Expecting Cena to win in a great match.

I would go with Taker personally. It would give the best match of the night and would be a fitting close to Austin's career.

Punk simply isn't big enough to main event WM with Austin and although Cena is the closest a win over Austin wouldn't do much for him and wouldn't do much for the roster as 3 straight years with Cena vs. Attitude Era stars at WM kind of proves how weak the roster really is if you have to keep going back to old stars for buyrates.

Austin vs. Taker though has a history, because of Austin's dominance its not a stretch that he could beat taker at WM, and most of all it would make more money than Austin vs. Punk.

Personally I would rather Austin stay retired and not come back, no reason for him to but if you are gonna have him come back I think Taker is the way to go.

I highly doubt that we will see Austin again in a match. He did recently have knee surgery (again).

2 years? By then Ryback will be the hottest thing on the solar system. He should face Austin.

I hear Cena's last match is slated for Wrestlemania 50 at the Lunar Moondome.

Won't come back for anything other than a WM Main Event?

What the fuck is that about? He'll be 49 years old. I hope he means one of the main events, not the last match of the night. I'd be happy to see him and see what he can do but I don't want him to get the top spot. I find it hard to believe that he would be able to keep up with the top guys in the WWE. Even the Rock looked a step behind Cena this year (granted it was still an awesome match).

Probably isn't worth reacting to this at this point.

A match 11 years after his last one? I doubt it.

On the off chance it happens I agree with the dude who said he should face 'Taker.

Who cares how "good" of a match he can wrestle? It's the draw. It's the guy that everyone still wants to see. It will draw, and dare I say...it will draw larger than Rocky.

A lot can happen in 1.5 years. Who would have thought Punk would be as big as he is now a year and a half ago?

Taker and Austin have never had a great match even in their primes. What makes you think that would be worth watching over a decade later?

It should be Cena. Period. Unless someone rises up in the next year or so. Doubtful as the roster sucks and you can't see someone like Ziggler, Rhodes, Miz, etc. at a high enough level to main event Mania with Austin

I don't want to see Stone Cold in a match at all if it is just a half-assed performance or a pitiful shell of himself. I don't care about the build ups or how much it will draw, but Stone Cold has suffered from injuries and I am more than convinced that he can't put on a decent match anymore.

So please stop that.

I remember listening to an interview in 2011 where Austin said that he's the healthiest he's ever been since starting in pro wrestling, and that if he wanted to he felt like he could produce an entire year of full-time WWE travel schedule. I also remember him saying he probably wouldn't ever consider that, but another match would certainly be in the realm of possibility. I'll try and find it for ya...

He's had some corrective knee surgery to take care of a few nagging things; if anything he'll be in better shape after a few months of physical therapy. Not all surgery is a bad thing in these guys' world.

And if you don't think Steve Austin deserves THE top match of the night, even approaching 50 years of age, for his last match ever...you're out of your damn mind son.

I know CM Punk wants the match, and he'll probably throw a fit if he doesn't get it. And no, for the love of God, I don't care how nostalgic it would be...I do NOT want to see Austin/Hogan. The guy can barely walk down to the ring. I enjoyed what him and Sting did at Bound for Glory last year, but if Austin is going to actually wrestle one more match, he should be able to go out there and do it to the best of his ability, not cater to Hogan's beaten up body.

John Cena is the most logical choice in my mind. CM Punk is great, and he's become probably the #2 star in the industry...under John Cena. If he beats the Rock at WrestleMania, maybe I'll consider re-thinking that. Maybe. If Steve Austin wants to have the biggest, "era vs era" type match at WrestleMania, I really think Cena is the only logical choice. But yeah, Punk would work almost as nicely. Maybe even better, considering we'd have to put up with constant "this is stupid, WWE is burying Punk again" nonsense if they did go with Cena.

If WWE can get WM 30 at the new Cowboys Stadium and have over 110,000 capacity the only match Steve would be interested in would be him versus another Texas Legend and that would be the Undertaker. It would make sense only Austin beating Taker and both would probably never wrestle again. Arguably the two most popular Superstars in the biz ever and for the most part they have had some really great matches minus that SSlam one cause Austin got a concussion. I am not sure if you can build Cena towards an Undertaker match to the same level as Austin/Taker. Cena has his fans but nowhere close to either one of thier fan bases and that also includes The Rock as well.

If it's going to happen, now is the time.

You already have Rocky/Cena and Lesnar/Undertaker. CM Punk vs. Austin, which seems the most logical, could be one of the three main events. Punk as a heel is the only way it's going to work. I hope that was one of the deciding factors in turning Punk heel. I'm sure it wasn't, that would be too fucking amazing.

If he can get him self in shape and is cleared to go then why not, aslong as it is ONE of the main events not THE main event meaning not to close the show as I believe Austin will clearly not be as mobile as before, I would love to see him and Taker, but wouldn't mind seeing him take on the likes of either Cena or Punk.

If Austin can walk the ramp, it shouldn't matter what shape he's in. He's not Dolph Ziggler of Kofi Kingston, he tells stories out there, in shape or otherwise.

If this is true then i can't wait for wrestlemania 30. as far as who he faces then there is a few options. i would love for austin to face taker but as some of you said. austin has a lot of health issues at the moment and they might be worse by then. also there is no saying if the undertaker will still be wrestling by then. but if you are looking at eigther punk or cena to face austin then at the moment i would say cena. though austin vs orton would be a great match too.
