Smackdown would be alot better if it was live! There are pros and cons to this i guess and the pros are, people wont have to read spoilers, there ratings would probably be a little bit higher because of that. and the fact that its not live and Raw is that tells me that WWE considers Raw the better show. The cons are oblivious as you cant edit stuff out, but thats the love of live tv. People sometimes like to see mistakes. Anyways i just think its time for it to be live and think it would be alot better.

I’m not going to claim to have any kind of inside knowledge of how WWE works behind he scenes but I don’t think making Smackdown a live show is as simple as people make it out to be. As we all know Smackdown airs on Friday night. WWE does house shows on the weekend. Smackdown is always going to draw a large gate on Tuesday. If they make it a live show on Friday they are eliminating a house show date. What about the stage crew? Raw and Smackdown have a pretty elaborate set. It makes the most sense for traveling purposes to have the shows on back to back nights in towns that are close to each other. I’m sure the higher ups, such as Vince McMahon himself, always attend Raw and Smackdown but have other business to attend to on other days and don’t attend the house shows. Again, I’m sure the schedule favors back to back television shows.
Being live really shouldn’t matter. If you want Smackdown to be live don’t read any spoilers. If you avoid the spoilers Smackdown will feel live to you.

I think SD's purpose of making stars for Cena to go over is just reenforced by it being taped. I don't know who originally said it, but that line about "it is easier to make a crowd reaction than it is to make the crowd react." is very true.
The guys who debut on SD don't have the pressure of knowing that the show is live. Nor do they really have to worry about getting crowd reaction considering they edit stuff anyway. But most of all, they don't have to worry about too many f'ds. I am not saying they have some botch-tistic guys, but looking at the stuff on Raw, you can take a pretty W.A.G. (wild ass guess) as to what would be edited out because it looked bad.

I have heard dozens of reasons for why Smackdown is taped, so I have no idea what the true reason is. With that being said, I cannot say Smackdown should go live.
Do I want Smackdown to go live? Absolutely. There is a different feel to a live show. It's more energetic, intense, etc. Hard to explain, but that's how I feel.
If Smackdown still acted as an extension of Raw, I wouldn't care about it being taped. However, with it being its own show, having its own roster, I would love for it to go live. Not only live, but move away from Friday. Maybe Wednesday, or even Thursday. Again, this is based upon my own personal preference, and selfish needs

I like the suggestion to moving it to another day of the week in order for it to be live. I would say something like Wednesday would be a nice balance. It is close enough to Monday so that the WWE wouldn't have to screw with their schedules too much, the crew could then do house shows starting on Thursday and go through Saturday or Sunday instead of how they currently do it, and it would allow for their to be a larger audience, as Wednesday has never been known as a night when there is a lot of TV on in the first place.

Hmmm..... well The Brain did make a brillant point. It's a nice setup and you do have to remember that there are more that works in the WWE aside from the superstars. Now yes, more spotenuity will arise if Smackdown was live, but I have to go with The Brain and say let it be for right now.

Well yeah.Smackdown is as good as Raw (my oppinion) and it should be live.There could be shocking moments whicha are ruined because of the spoilers.Ofcourse the ratings will increase too

I think Smackdown being Live is a good idea but it doesn't need to be really. When it first started in 1999 I was wondering why it wasn't Live but then realized why it wasn't and that was because of the Weekend House Shows. That makes it harder for the guys when WWE travels so much every week/month.
I enjoy Smackdown as much as RAW and I try to avoid reading the Results of it before it airs. Unless something big happens like a Title change. So it has its advantages of being Taped as well.

I'd have to agree. It will have better ratings, have since they move break out stars to smackdown from time to time, more people will watch if it's live, which means more money. But like you said with Raw, but on the other hand with it being on a Monday, I don't know of many people that I personally know stay up and watch the whole show. That's my take on it.

No I don't think it should.
I love Smackdown but I also think it serves a great purpose not being live every week. It lets the people that are not fully integrated to the WWE style (ex: Sin Cara) still have a job but with the magic of editing come off better than they actually are.
Now to continue with my Sin Cara example when he was on RAW it was obvious that he left a lot to be desired when it came to the WWE style but now that he's on a pre-taped show they can edit his matches there by getting the fans at home at least semi interested in him while he continues to learn the best way there is, by doing.
This can apply to any new talent brought up from FCW as well

Not THIS again. Smackdown does NOT need to be live because it's completely fine the way it is. The WWE get to do shows on tuesdays, and fans get a friday show. To make it live then they would either have to change the tv show to tuesday evenings or change the travel schedule to be on fridays. Either option would take up far more time to fix than it sounds like. If you want to enjoy it without the spoilers that badly, don't read them. I never do unless I am missing the show that week, so it's almost "live" to me in the aspect of not knowing what to expect.
Would SD be more enjoyable live? Definitely, as you just don't know what is going to happen. However Brain hit the nail on the head with the back to back days being easier for the stage crew and what not. Also I think you have to take into affect the people watching the show. A lot of people have lives and usually go out on Friday and don't sit around waiting for wrestling. Friday is the start to the weekend and that is a lot of people's day to go out and have some fun. With SD being taped it allows them to read the results and know if they should stick around or just go have a good time.
I would love for it to move to Thursdays and go live. I think it would better the product knowing they are going up against TNA (not that they are really a threat). Also, I read recently in a Tampa news article that Wednesdays are usually the day when many superstars get to go home during the week, so I don't see it every moving to that day.
I personally would love for it to go live, like I said, however common sense states otherwise. They won't do it for two reasons. 1) WWE is kinda stuck in their ways and 2) They gear the show towards a younger demographic so children are usually home with their parents watching or with babysitters, so it's a good night to keep that going.
