Barbosa did indeed assume the Iron Throne last night. He also won a goody bag for being able to name three bannermen of House Lannister and the real name of the Mountain That Rides - pretty nerdy he will admit. This was after being screwed out of two previous prizes because the question asker could not see him standing up first. Did not win the star prize though, which was an iPod Shuffle and an overnight stay at the hotel where the scenes of the Night's Watch will be filmed as he did not know the entire vow of the Night's Watch...

Other trivia questions involved naming the sigil and motto of House Baratheon, naming Ned Stark's ward, his sigil and motto and naming the 6 Stark children and their direwolves.

Really good fun over the two days, aside from a flat tire on the way home the first night

I am half way through A Storm of Swords: Blood And Gold

As for the total number of books I have read... no idea. I know how many books I own but have read many, many more in the course of my academic studies

Are you still finding them enjoyable? I think I was doing some serious skim reading by this point. I couldnt help thinking, its Hobbits wandering around singing all over again. Except in this case its pissing, ****ing and eating.

There is perhaps only one of the POV stories that I do not enjoy and it is Bran. Daenerys herself is a little boring but the men surrounding her are good enough characters to balance that out. Plus of course the presence of Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal...

I agree she's held together by some stronger characters,

and its interesting trying to guess who the other two heads of the Dragon are going to be

Catelyn Stark I'd say the same for, I really only wanted to read her POV chapters to see what happens to the characters around her, she's the dullest, whiniest POV character in the series and theres about a million of them now, so thats quite an achievement.

I'd say that Bran's story is worth some investment though, it does pick up later on.

There definitely are quite a few characters who have every right to be whiny and Catelyn Stark is one of them.

I would say that Davos would have good cause to be whiny but he isn't at all

I dont think a smuggler who starts to whine when things go against him would've lasted particularly long in the job. Catelyn just bored the tits off me. Daenery's is worse though, I just find that I dont like the woman, touch of Aerys' madness in that one methinks.
