Saunter with Coco and GD w/ special guest MRC

Never. It was a boring ass film to watch, but one that provided a lot of thinking material that I contemplated for at least half an hour after I finished watching the movie.

Have you ever seen The Fountain? Very similar movie in that they were both sort of a bummer to watch but they were amazing to discuss afterwards. The Fountain had a lot more in the way of action, though.

I have The Tudors but haven't gotten around to it.

Camelot starts airing on CBC in the fall. We'll see.

Gimme a few months and I'll tell you what's what.

If you hated Tree of Life, it's likely you won't like The Fountain either. Difference is it has Darren Aronofsky directing it, but an immensely less talented lead in Hugh Jackman.

Some bitch I work with tried to pull rank on me tonight, even though we're literally on the same level, she's just been there longer so she feels like she's queen of the world. Does the rule of thumb still exist, or did they do away with that altogether?

As soon as you mentioned this obnoxious queen of the world type, I reached for the casual racism. Why is this thread not in the Bar?

The OG of Honesty.

Shit, half the people he mentions in the first post aren't even here anymore, or aren't even funny. Were all these people in one giant clique back in the day?

No. TM was just trying to form a community. Well done, really. GD wasn't even on my radar before he made this thread.

Also, The Fountain sucks.

Darren Aronofsky is one of my favorite filmmakers and I appreciate what he was able to pull off visually with that film considering its very low budget, but that movie was horrible.

Really? And here I thought you guys got your start together like Abbott and Costello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, or Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

What's the name of the trope where you have a list of three things, but the third one is ridiculous? I love that trope.

Pffft, you suck, The Fountain was awesome. It was difficult to watch, but much like Tree of Life, I was captivated the entire time by the amazing imagery and emotional story being told. The more I think about it, the more I see the similarities between the two films. Either way, I loved The Fountain, and loved discussing it afterwards even more. Fucking amazing film.

What was your opinion on Tree of Life, jmt?

I haven't seen it yet, JGlass, but I will eventually. It looks like the kind of film I'm either going to really, really love or really, really hate.

Well like I told Coco, if you hated one, you'll probably hate the other. My advice to the both of you is that if you get halfway through the film and you aren't totally sucked in, or at the very least interested, you should probably just give up because it's not going to get any better for you haha.

I loved both of them, though, The Fountain a bit more than Tree of Life. The Fountain has one really well built storyline, one really obscure but fascinating storyline, and then one fucking weird storyline that I still have trouble figuring out. Seriously, my friend and I must have debated about the scene inside the big glass bubble thing for about two hours after we finished the movie.

Nah. TM's vision is to GD and I and the rest of the Saunterers what the impending annexation was to the series Deadwood -- it brought this cast of characters closer together and forged and community. That and it brought us a telegraph and a stagecoach. A shame that the Russian telegraph operator doesn't post here anymore either. Probably out futilely pounding the pavement and job hunting.

I read like the first 22 pages of this thread. It seems like no one gave it a chance at first but low and behold, you *****s kept it going.

I didn't even give it a chance a chance at first. But when Dakota wants to fuck you dead in your ass, you've gotta realize that your Montana boy can be an asset.

Yeah...nobody should read the first couple hundreds post in here. Quite shit. At least more shit than all the other posts about artsy movies I haven't seen and whatnot.

Yeah, hating Tree Of Life has really classed up the joint. That and the CM Punk tights all over the page.
